Looking for Odin file - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi I was wondering if anyone had a link or a copy laying around of the latest ota (vramc3) to use with Odin? The link in Droidstyle's guide takes you there, but the download doesn't work at all. I went to the Samsung sites, but I don't want to flash the wrong thing. I'm not new to using Odin, use it on my tab. I just need that file/safety net before i actually NEED it. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it very much.

It works for me...click on regular download, wait 30 seconds and click the download link.

Thanks man. I'll give it a try again. Maybe the site was acting up last night. It took me to hot file and when I clicked the link it said downloading for like a minute then I got got network error. Weird thing was I downloaded Odin again and the pit file again without a hitch using your links. I'll report back.

Great, it's coming down now. For some reason I kept getting "unknown network error" last night. So I still use 7-zip to unzip it and stick it in PDA, stick the pit in there and run in DL mode correct? Factory reset in stock recovery to avoid bootloop and then I'm good. Please forgive all the questions, just never used Odin on my N2 and I want to be really sure. Took me a minute to figure out why the stock rooted and unlocked file by Mr. Davidson wouldn't show up in Odin. Then remembered I needed 7-zip.

Help please! Odin gets stuck half way through flash.

Hello and thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments.
Here is my problem. I was trying to flash back to stock using Odin3 and have tried many times. However it progresses to FACTORYFS and stops any progress. And it sits and sits and sits. No progress. Why??? Please. If anyone can give me any advice please do. Thanks.
Forst you need to have your phone in download mode.... if your havin trouble with the process download AIO VIBRANT TOLLBOX.. its really helpful and also you need to have the appropiate files and if it keeps doing that.... download odin again....

Are you running windows 7?
If so, reboot your computer, hit F7 to get into the safe mode options, then disable device driver enforcement.
Sounds wierd but it fixes my odin from locking up everytime.
Hi,
Can you link to the firmware you downloaded? I've seen this a few times and it was a faulty TAR package. If you are looking for a good reliable 2.1 JFD package I have on one of my download pages:
http://www.mobiletechvideos.com/blog/?page_id=186
I had this same problem several weeks ago. I used the same files Ive always used to odin. Just keep trying it. It took me over 3 hours before it finally went thru. Ive been scared to use odin every since/
check the md5
try another usb port
using the latest odin?
any other usb devices plugged in? If so, remove them, reboot, try again.
using the usb that came with your phone?
Man, you guys are awesome. I'm always amazed and impressed at everyones willingness to help others in need even if their(my)problems are self inflicted. Thank you.
We just had a baby and are at the doctors office at the moment but as soon as we are done I will get back to it and see what can be done.
Again thanks a million.

Don't be afraid to PM these guys, there are people more than willing to help you out here at XDA. Saved my behind more than once. Just have patience, as they say - "help is on the way"
Ok first thanks for the words of encouragement with the baby. She is beautiful.
Now back to work. First things first. When it freezes at FACTORY FS what is the safest way to disconnect? Battery pull?(seems scary) x out?(also scary).
I have disabled the driver enforcement but still have the same problem. Thanks though.

Alright so far I have
1. Disabled devices driver enforcement
2. Tried all 3 of my usb ports
3. Currently using Odin3v1.00 (about to search for a newer version)
4. Removed all connected usb devices
5. Rebooted twice
Results = same. Bummer
I have not checked the md5. Not really sure how to and what/where to check. I know its something that I should know by know but never have needed to till now I guess.
MD5 - use Hashtab
http://implbits.com/HashTab.aspx
That IS an old version of odin, that is known to hang... my signature for going back to stock has files, inc newer ODIN.
I suggest getting a new pit and tar from there too.
Going back to stock in my signature
I'm still curious as to whether you tried my 2.1 JFD tar package. This will eliminate the thought of a corrupt PDA TAR package. Can you please try it? I replied on page 1. In the past your issue was caused by a corrupt/incomplete TAR package.

CWM-Recovery_all

Has anyone tried Odin flashing cwm-recovery-all.zip?
It was designed to work on many phones but also integrates voodoo for those kernels that can use it.
I don't see why it wouldn't work but I am no development and without a recovery image available from sanding I don't want to kill my player.

Could you give me a link of what you are talking about? never heard of it before, bit I would be willing to try it.
i just checked the sdcard on my mesmerize and i was incorrect, the name is cwm-recovery-all.zip - you can also google that and get tons of download links from places like mediafire.
it is CWM or Odin flashable.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...-clockworkmod-all-roms-updated-3-30-11-a.html
it was actually found here but here is a link for another place that has a link for both cwm flash and odin flash versions.
frankly i have not even seen anyone post how to get into recovery or how to get into download mode...
but of course adb should easily be able to do both.
Sorry, I'm still a bit of a noob to android, How would I flash this? You say you can flash it using cwm but isn't that what we are trying to get on? I have no idea how to use Odin and would appreciate help.
Edit; where do I even download Odin?
Could I just do this manually with root explorer? looking inside the zip it seems possible, but would I have to do anything with the "META_INF" or "kernal_update" folders, or are they only for flashing?

nope no manual install. its a flash.
and google is your friend dude.
just look for something like Odin 1.3 or higher.
but i use 1.3 because i have a Galaxy S 1 phone. (samsung mesmerize)
and i am gunna warn you, there is a good chance this will brick your Player.
and since Samsung doesnt offer a firmware download, you are screwed. i dont think even Kies would be able to fix it.
downlaod the cwm-recovery-all.zip (or you may download a tar file i forget
unzip it, and inside is cwm-recovery-all.tar inside of it is recovery.bin. (dont unpack the tar file.
odin is easy. just put your phone into download mode. (via adb - adb reboot download )
plug it into your pc.
open odin - it should say something is recognized or added (meaning your phone.)
click pda and choose the cw-recovery-all.tar
then click start.
once again you could easily kill your Player by doing this. - atleast until someone figures out how to
but if I do brick, can I use a backup rom to fix it, or will this screw recovery mode= no possible fix?
Edit; looking at that thread, it seems this is for 2.2, I have 2.3.5, I think that is a good reason for me not to try this, sorry! I'm chickening out.

yeah but it works fine on my mesmerize and it uses 2.3.4
best case is it says failed when Odin tries to flash it.
and where you going to get a backup rom ? does Kies do some sort of full back up ?

EDIT: it gave me "FAIL" please help! I am using odin 1.3
It seems to fail at recovery.bin, maybe mine is corrupted.
If someone could post theirs for a 4.0 u.s. version, I would appreciate it!

for above problem.. i managed to flash back to my stock rom.
1. download your stock rom from samfirmware (2.2/TTT version in my case)
2. download odin3 1.85.
3. flash using pda button
worked for me.
ps. i had mine bricked due to checking partition box, using above method fixed it.
Last time I checked, samfirmware didn't have it for U.S.
Also were you able to get yours into download mode, if so how?
Also about my post above, I just mean the recovery.bin file, not whole rom.

I don't know exactly what you mean, but I backed up; system, kernal, and recovery. I put these int a .tar.md5 file with cygwin, and when flashing with odin it fails as it gets to "recovery.bin" wich leads me to believe that is the problem.

[Q] please somebody help...something weird happened

im trying to create titanium backup and now when i try to run tibackup it says that it doesnt have root access anymore, but i ran it fine just yesterday. it said check for superuser and busybox - i had both of those, but for some reason my superuser app was gone so i downloaded it again but to no avail. then i tried re-rooting it with superoneclick and it gets stuck on step 7...and in the superoneclick msgbox it says that my sgp isnt rooted. did i do something wrong?

thanks, it worked . i also have another question hopefully you can answer it. i just flashed entropys kernal but when i try to get into the cwm, it takes me to the 3e one. my understanding is that entropys kernal has the cwm in it doesnt it? i flashed it using odin and passed. thanks :good:
ok i just found out it didn't get flashed..im still running stock kernal even tho odin said passed.
this is what i did, i downloaded dd_03052012.zip from entropy. unzipped it in winrar. then when i tried adding the tar to pda section of odin, it wasn't there (but if i were to open its folder thru win explorer then i would see it) just odin wasn't recognizing it. so i renamed the zimage file with .tar at the end, now odin sees it so i go ahead and add it into pda field and push start (player was in download mode) odin said reset....then after a couple secs it said passed! and then it reboot itself...still stock kernal. please help, I've literally been working on this for twelve hours with a break to go grocery shopping thanks in advance.

Use superoneclick to unroot first THEN root again. Hopefully that works. If not, you're screwed if you want to ref lash. Sorry.

Use SirVilhelm's post for the Odin flashable and make sure you are using the Odin exe from Adam's bootloader unlock thread. Or flash Revision 3 instead of the full stock image. I borked my phone slightly and this worked.
Uncheck auto reboot, and after it finishes unplug and pull battery and wait for 10 seconds so it doesnt keep going back to odin.

I need some major help PLEASE!!!!!

So call me a super noob but I cant for the life of me unroot my dang Note 2. Ive read forums and threads on how and I dont know what my deal is. I dont know how to get odin on my laptop. I search and search to download it but cant find a way to download it. Im on a different pc than the one I rooted it to begin with because the old pc is stupid slow. I dont have supersu on my phone right now cuz I was screwing around with my phone and a friend of mine said I could unroot the phone by going into the supersu app. So I dont have su binaries. I dont even know if im rooted anymore. Im on scotts ROM the 4.1.2 version. I do have CWM recovery still tho. All I want to know is a step by step process on how to get odin onto my pc, and go from there on. And yes I have read forums about how to unroot but none say anything about how to install odin. I feel really dumb but I really need my phone unrooted ASAP. I have a new phone and tranferred the SIM card over to it....do I need to have the SIM card in my Note 2 in order to unroot it??? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help a bro out

Download Odin (it's just a simple windows program). - http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...3&d=1304094576
Make sure you have the latest samsung drivers - http://www.mediafire.com/?hzlnda0l5t8qyes
To use odin later all you do is power down the phone and boot back into download mode (volume down, power and home at the same time).
Open Odin, plug in phone...Odin should recognize the phone and you will see the com port noted in yellow.
From here you can follow these instructions to flash back to bone stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207

Did this already. Confused me a bit. I'm trying to sell it and since 4.3 ROMS aren't "stable" in a way. I can't flash one and get reboots if I'm gonna try and sell it

The download is compressed so you need to extract it (unzip). I am not familar with Zip opener but it probably works like the others (7-zip, etc). Just right click on the file and choose extract. Then you should see a normal application you can open.

Ya I'm figuring it out. I'm downloading the file from imnuts right now. After it's downloaded do I just drag the stock file into the PIT spot and then hit start?

I'm on Odin 3.09. And there isn't a pda spot. So what spot do I place the firmware at then?

I have never used 3.09, only 1.85 (the link I provided above). Looking at screenshots of 3.09, the fields look the same but are named differently, but since I have never personally used that version I can't guarantee it.

It took me a minute to figure out also, but they are in the same order but with different names.
