Hello all, I went cheap when I was traveling Asia, and purchased a HTC Desire 200 phone. Any hope of a forum for it in the future or anyone knows if it matches any of the HTC phones for a potential root and maybe getting CM rom on it. I don't like the HTC sense and Its really slow, my HTC incredible from the USA running CM9 seems faster than it. Any info or tips would be appreciated. Thanks:good:

For uploading the system dump, first install any file browser like 'File Manager' from Android market. Then using File Manger copy the contents of /system directory to your SDcard. Now compress it and upload to any site like Mediafire or dev-host.
Once you have uploaded the system dump, post the link here.

System dump
Thanks for your help, It would be much appreciated as I have messed around with modding and tweaking android but never actually did much developing. I tried to system dump stated on a few sites that took su but could only do a adb pull /system. I also found I can download a file from HTC dev located here http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads/ after selecting Desire 200 I downloaded a .tar file that I assume you can use to build kernels and CM with. I am a new to actual building a device from scratch I have tried to build one for a nook color at one time but gave up after not working. I can post my files to my dropbox or google drive if that will work as well. I have tried to fastboot a few recoveries from a similar devices like Desire C and HTC one V but no luck and now don't know how to go back to stock recovery. I have unlocked my bootloader.

Do not try to fastboot with other devices recovery. Each recovery uses kernel which is designed to work with that particular device only. Do you still have the system dump of Desire 200 ?

Sim network unlock pin HTC Desire 200
Hi to all
I've bought HTC Desire 200 , but it seems to be locked for only one operator. At first, it couldnt recognize any other SIM card except the original T-Mobile sim card. Then i downloaded bootloader from htcdev.com and did everything exactly as it was written. After copying the unlock_key.bin, i tried with other sim card, but no luck. Only this time it was recognized by the phone, but i need sim network unlock pin.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

try framaroot it rooted my xt920 without the romaster (romaster is korean and i do not understand)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
You need to get network password from T-mobile and rooting it won't unlock the simlock. I ve tried every root possible don't work. My phone came unlocked when I bought it in Taiwan. No development on the desire 200, I tired to get something going but only can mod no actual development. I tired to upload my system files for someone to help me but never heard from them again. I think they just want the files for HTC sense for their own benefit. Good luck Ive given up for now.

Hi,
I can confirm that the root package from the link below worked on my Desire 200 using "New Standard Root" ( Gratz to Bin4ry ). Would love it if someone could confirm this to him since I don't have enough posts to reply to his post or to PM him.

I recently bought an HTC Hero and the last several days I have been looking to "root" it and put a custom rom on it.
I have the non-cdma, european version of the HTC Hero
Firmware - 1.5 version
Build # - 2.73.405.5
I would like to root it using Windows 7 but I can do it on XP if need be but I have been reading so many different things on you have to have this firmware version or this build number on this operating system so I guess what I am trying to ask is is what would be the best tutorial to follow in order to root my Hero and put a custom rom on it with the info I have given above? If anyone needs any other information just let me know.

Use BTDAG's guide linked in my signature. Read the whole thing through then bookmark it.
And I HIGHLY recommend using an XP machine. I wasted HOURS on my Win7, but worked 1st time on my XP one.
I appreciate the help! I've read through this guide before but I am not sure if I would have to use the "Gold Card Procedure" or not. I'll be using a 1GB Sandisk SD card if that helps.

Just start at the beginning. If it throws up errors then you will need to use the goldcard method. If you do run into problems write down what happens and what error messages you get so guys on here can help out without guessing.
I got it! I installed the Villian rom though. Is there any rom that is better?
For Android 2.1 that comes very highly recommended by a lot of people on here.
Im using MCR3.2 but its 1.5.
But have a play,... swap and change every few days. and do Nandroid backups before you switch.
Have fun.
Im not too impressed with the Villian rom... Its so laggy. Im going to try the MCR3.2 and see how that works out.
You could try mr_bang 2 beta 2, I found it very responsive and 100% functional (no gps or by issues).

Hello there. I've got a new HTC ChaCha, the only problem is that its internal memory is 150 MB.
This sucks. I've not been able to find a way to do it as stuff that are compatible with it are really few. I'm really new to Android. I've got the phone for only 2 days. It's true that I adore it, but that memory problem really sucks.
I've seen that there's a way to do so through rooting. Is this the only way to do so? And if that's true, then how?
My carrier is Vodafone by the way. It's unlocked but not rooted.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Find the HTC ChaCha section in the forums, since this is a HTC phone the bootloader has been locked down.
So if you want root you must unlock this bootloader

More information:
Android Version: 2.3.5
Software Version: 1.57.415.4
EDIT: @Frank, Yea I saw that. Someone told me that if it's SIM Unlocked I can download any RUU. I don't know which one to download.
Shall a mod move the topic please to the HTC section then?
A friend helped me with this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449681 ) topic and I successfully unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. Superuser though says No apps on superuser list. BusyBox doesn't successfully install when I press the install button at the app (not the market), and Titanium Backup doesn't start. I tried using a terminal with su, su is not found.
Now I'm stuck with recovery. I do that fastboot thing, then go to bootloader menu, choose recovery, and I'm stuck forever at the HTC logo...
I've unlocked the bootloader and tried to root it. I've had a problem though as it's S-ON although any SIM works with it. I don't know how to resolve this...

Hi,
i searched everywhere couldn't find anything about the AT&T verison of HTC One X+ and CM10
Is there a way to root the ATT version and install CM10 on it???
Read only about the international version yet. Don't want to brick my new phone.
Thanks.
Nope, there's still a bit of a wait on CM10/ASOP for AT&T/TELUS users. When a usable version is ready, it'll probably be here with [AT&T/TELUS] in the title.

So, the experimital CM10.1 is running on your HTC One X+. I have the same phone and I have unlocked it from HTC's web site. I'm a noob and don't know a lot about this stuff. Still learning. Should I try any mod or wait? I really want to get the AT&T crud off of my phone. Like I said, my phone is unlocked now.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
There are several non experimental roms you can install already just to get rid of the at&t stuff. Also you could root it and use titanium backup or root uninstaller or something to just get rid of unneeded stuff. If it were me, I would not DARE try anything experimental with my new phone, especially something cm10 related because pretty much all the devs have said there is nothing ready yet on that avenue.

OK, I'm new here and I really thank you all for any advise. I will read on and try to find some of these existing ROM's. This is probably a REALLY big noob question. If my phone is unlocked, does that mean it is rooted?

Unlock is unlock and root is root
Indeed. You have unlocked the bootloader which is step 1. Now you need to root which is step 2. There is an all in one tool in the android development forum you can use to root. That might be the easiest way to go. Once you are rooted you can get root uninstaller for free from the play store or titanium backup. Titanium is probably better choice there. You could also flash a rom through recovery that is already rooted but most of those require you flash the kernel seperatly so if you are.very new i probably wouldnt do that just yet. Read up on the process first. Hope that helps.

Thanks! My problem is this..... I used the HTC step by step from http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
I got through the step where the instructions say to Mark - Right Click Copy - Paste into the HTCDev.com website
I then followed the instructions on through until the phone was unlocked.
At step 39 the instructions say to -
Reboot your phone into Fastboot mode and type the following in command prompt:and
type and execute at the cmd prompt -
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.2.7-endeavoru.img
OK, I finished these steps and am now stuck at step 40.
I then copied the CWN-SuperSU-v.0.87.zip file to the root of my phone storage
The phone won't boot in to recovery at all
What is the CWN-SuperSU-v.0.87.zip file for and do I need to complete the step by rebooting using it in recovery mode? It will not boot in to recovery anyway.
So my phone was wiped and unlocked but back to the original AT&T build and I don't understand where I pick up in the process.
This is the point where I get confused. I research and read everywhere too. I know my phone is unlocked for sure. It's not bricked yet. :fingers-crossed:

unlock your bootloader at HTCDEV.com
Flash custom recovery (TWRP)
boot to custom recovery and on exit it ask to Root

As a followup to this question just want to verify the viability of my plan. I am getting a replacement HTC One on warranty next week due to a camera issue. My current One is unlocked/rooted/s-off stock 4.3. I would like my new phone to just be identical but with 4.4.2 so my plan is:
Activate new phone do not log in to google.
Update to 4.4.2
Root as per past instructions
Take backup in TWRP of old phone
Copy and load backup to new phone so its identical
Profit.
Sound like it will work?

The best bet is to learn to use adb and fastboot, so if you get in a bind later you know how to handle it

OK, yeah I figured it out once I copied it over to my PC.
Hey there.... XDA has actually been my go to for any android issues for quite some time now. About two years ago, my ex introduced me to developer options... and root ability... and lucky patcher and super user and busy box etc...... and, well...
my life has never been the same.
So, i've been using the site as a ghost for a couple of years. This may be my first.... or second... actual post... I'll probably get yelled at because it's already been done before or it's in the wrong place, but...
So, I'm not even sure what I did....
Oh... HTC sucks where as it doesn't "remember" things after reboot. One of the apps I frequent is link2sd plus. So every time I would have to open it remount it, fastboot it, and it would work for a little while until it would reboot again for some reason. and so when that would happen, until I did that, half of my apps were unusable. and it would start out using the (or trying to update the) HTC blinkfeed theme, which I didn't even use, I was using a different launcher. So I thought, hey, maybe if I freeze that app (or launcher). Bad idea.
So, then I just got a black screen. And then, so then eventually I just got a bootloop.
At this point it's been days and i've been trying to figure out what to do.
At one point, I was finally able to flash the original custom rom (decided to do that and start over) i'm still in twrp recovery, so I figure that's a good sign.... soo... but then I couldn't flash the image. I've got windows 8 and I've heard that's diffucult.
So. I was thinking. My plan of action was going to be to have all of the files i'm about to mention downloaded already. and just do it, in one big go. If I can ****ing figure out how to ****ing flash it.
Command keeps telling me I don't have adb.exe. wtf. yes I do. I have downloaded it, and re-downloaded it, I downloaded Universal Naked Driver, One Click Root are partial to Nano ADB.... I'm not sure what the **** to do when it comes to actually implementing my idea.
I'm also open to someone helping me out via team viewer.
My idea...
1. bomb it with Aroma, which I have the download for. I'm not sure if I should keep it as a zip or unzip it.
(all of this will be ready to go, all in one folder... well except for that one.... that will be alone on the SD card when I put it in.... or....should I flash it ?)
2. reinstall (or flash?) the superuser zip, and then the twrp img.
3. reinstall (or flash) stock rom, and then stock image..... (do I need to find and install a stock kernel as well? since I bombed it? ?!?!)
thinking maybe I should switch 2 and 3... ? although it looks like aroma does have it's own little super basic own OS of sorts ... and maybe I could start from scratch I really just want to get s-off.... but anyways, I really just want a working phone;
:crying:
Well, you should download the stock software so you at least have a working phone, and for s-off, download sunshine and run that, it will s-off and root your phone. Idk about the kernel tho, if you need one, just ask

I do. And Idk if it was the rom or image that is corrupted, or that I didn't have a kernel. But Aroma worked just fine. there was nothing on my phone. at all.
Not even the HTC bootlogo? Well that's an uh oh. Good thing it's up and running again

I would actually say that you are better off just flashing the disable system write protection module found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-610/development/mod-wpmod-disable-write-protection-t3149168
It's more stable and you dont lose xfat support like you do with jmz kernel. Just follow my directions on that thread and your phone will be rooted and have system write protection disabled in 1 go. After this you can install SDFix app from play store to enable non-system apps to write to external sd. Then insall xposed framework from here http://dl.xposed.info/latest.apk . Once this is installed, Run the app and say yes to installing the framework then reboot you phone. Now you can use the xposed app to download and install the sense 6 toolbox module which will allow you to customize lots of things in the stock rom.
