My buddy just got the s4 and the eye scroll on web pages is sick. Just wondering if any devs think its possible to get that on the note 2.

Hmm maybe, but I don't know what hardware it would use that we don't already have. It's just the front facing camera and gyroscope/accelerometer I believe. It sees you're looking at the screen then you tilt for it to scroll. So maybe it could be possible, but assuming the actual code for that was created by Samsung, it's probably close-sourced.
In that case, OP, don't you think something like this would've already existed before the GS4 if it could've been done? It's not really a revolutionary idea, but the coding itself may be pretty complicated. My guess is that if programming U.I. behavior based on the coordination of multiple sensors was within the capabilities of developers before Samsung threw money at it, then it would've been an app on the play store already.
Of course, I have no idea if that's the case regarding our XDA developers or Samsung's, I'm just guessing.
Its not the gyro it's a second Gen digitizer thst has some hardware build in can't recall the name momentarily but there is a Swype app that you can wave your hand up and down and it will scroll that uses the gyro

Hovering controls. I've been following it since he released it. It's come a long way, works pretty well now. It's one of those things that you don't always want to use, but it's handy when you do.

So anyone think it'll be possible to port many of Galaxy S III's features to the S II? I mean most of the stuff sounds like software (S Voice, pickup to call, video picture in picture, etc. etc. etc...)
Thoughts?

A lot of it no because our front cameras can't sense you or whatever.. but touchwiz 5.0? Absolutely

I don't see the point in pickup to answer unless you regularly just leave your phone laying around. I personally always keep it in my pocket so I don't see the reason for it. Video picture in picture sounds cool though.

wouldn't that be software control of the hardware (camera)? I don't think it's some special hardware in the front camera.

One might think it would be software control instead of hardware.
When you think about it, what allows our phones to use facelock but software?

Actually the 2.0MP SGS2 front camera has slightly better resolution than the 1.9MP front camera of the SGS3.
TW and the TW framework from the SGS3 would need to be back-ported to the SGS2 for the new Samsung apps to run correctly, if at all.
--L.
The only way to get these features is to have TouchWiz since its so deeply rooted into everything on the SIII.
I imaging at least some of it could but will probably take the Devs a little while to iron things out.

I thought that was neat, I use GoSms so I have the call button right there if we cant port it.
The one thing that I would like ported over to our phone is the zero shutter lag.
The S beam or w/e on the Galaxy S3 just seems to use a combination of Wi-Fi Direct and NFC, and apparently allows for transfer of a 1GB file in less than 5 minutes. Can't find out whether it's a new hardware thing, or whether it's just the connectivity of NFC with the transfer being done over Wi-Fi direct or something or another. Either way, some epic stuff.
I would love to have the new touch wiz ported over. I love the interface, and the overall new look and lock screen.

This is a hardware issue not a software issue. The only way to do this is if you were to strip out the camera on your sgs 2 with the s3 one. And thats including the miracle that you don't f*ck up your phone!

You sure? From what it sounds like, the cameras in the S2 and S3 are identical (we won't know for absolute certain of course until S3 comes out and someone takes it apart, but everything seems to point towards the cameras being the same). The zero-shutter lag seems to me to be a software thing; hell, I thought the zero-shutter lag was something advertised as being part of ICS, as though it would be available to all ICS-enabled phones and not just the GNex which has a worse camera than ours.
EDIT: This article also seems to suggest it's a software improvement (though it doesn't actually clearly say whether the shutter-lag is hardware or software based).
On another note, I would absolutely *LOVE* it if the SGS3 software stuff got ported over

Why does my spen constantly register movements and button presses when I'm not in contact with the screen? I can just hover it over an icon and its like I pressed it or when drawing something and I pick up the pen and move it to the tools it's still acting like I'm drawing making random touch marks...
I've tried the ssid code to calibrate the s pen but no change...I even took off my screen protector ..no change...has anyone else experienced anything like this at all?? On an ICS rom btw..so any thoughts if its hardware or software...thanks

If the issue is the magnet in the pen itself, a sensitivity app would be a bandaid solution if it worked at all.

If it works very well/very polished, don't see why you'd say that then. I don't know anyone who doesn't use fb, techies included.
If XDA made a launcher, I wouldn't use it most likely either unless it had more options than the current launchers on the market. I sure as hell wouldn't go around saying this launcher is just for the techies though.
I don't see the harm in trying it out. I backed the Chameleon launcher and used it for awhile on my nexus 7. Then I tried it for awhile on my N2 when it came available. I'm not currently using it on either, but I don't see any harm in trying it out.

Most of you are replying about the launcher, where as I see his question is : "Anyone going to get the home?" meaning the phone itself.

Only option appears to be a play store app. The one called Tap Tap app seems like it does the job, but the reviews are less than stellar.
As my E4GT aged and the buttons became less dependable, many of us started using Gravity Screen On, an app I can personally report as highly functional, does the job (differently), yet takes a degree of patience to get it behaving the way you want (can drive you nuts, but get past that, and you may be pleased),
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree
As to natively doing this, I've seen it tied to kernels for HTC phones, the Nexus series (not just the LG variants, but the tablets, even the Galaxy Nexus), but as to the Note 3 specially or an Xposed module, nada that I can find.
Would love to have it. Wouldn't buy a phone without a replaceable battery or am external SD, but that is one cool feature. I hope someone corrects me on this and unearths something.

I'm pretty sure it's tied to the kernel.
Though I've seen it done with the internal knock sensors.
It can be a huge pain to get working reliably.
The screen at the moment has to be on to accept input.
It sounds like a cool idea.
Then reality sets in....
Actually if you could implement this without...
Errant random screen taps waking the phone.
Battery drain from having to keep part of the system up watching and interpreting screen taps.
Hmmm mm

That at least confirms my suspicion. At least you can give Gravity Screen On a whirl. The free version has full functionality, and your battery doesn't take too bad of a hit on the process. Like I said, it's not something you immediately love, but you can get used to it, and does the job well. It just doesn't work the way the swipe to wake or knock to wake features work.
