So I recently wanted to load a custom rom on my p769.
Unfortunately, I tried to flash a rom without actually having the bootloader unlocked (thought i did?)
Now i'm forever stuck at the "LG Security Error" screen.
I can't seem to do anything else! :'(
The only other mode I can boot into is S/W update screen (holding volume up and plugging in usb cable).
I tried to get to another mode I read about (vol up + vol down then plug usb cable for "download" mode, to no avail)
Anyway, once I do get it into sw update mode, I can't seem to do anything either way, when i try to list adb devices, none are listed, when i try to use lg mobile tool, it never connects, when i try to use kdz offline update tool, it doesn't see the phone, it just keeps trying to connect, the log freaks out at "_IsConnectedPhone Call", and just keeps trying to "connect" to phone but can't
Am I totally screwed here?
What can I do? Any help appreciated!

You're on JB, right? KDZ offline flash tool cannot detect phone in JB. you have to flash ICS x-loader/u-boot then that tool can detect your phone. please visit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292828
For LG mobile support tool problem, it need to download rom from LG server. Have you remove/comment 1-2 line that you add to hosts file? You said it never connect that mean it don't see your phone?

I've tried this as well, but I don't know if i'm doing it correctly
I installed the 'drivers' it needs (following the readme file) when it shows the "unknown/other" device (the part where you have to catch it in device manager).
After this, I run the start.bat, enter 5 and hit enter, i unplug my phone and hit any key, then i plug it in as it says and it does it's thing, then i wait for 4 seconds when it begins to say "waiting for device", i put my battery in and it just stays there, waiting for device
Can you help me figure this out? Am I doing something wrong?

i think i'm making some progress, thanks for helping so far!
anyway, i'm able to get fastboot on my phone (i think?), the screen on the phone shows the flipped LG logo and at the top right it says 2.0 fastboot (flipped of course)
but, what am i supposed to do here?
i see the 2 omap devices listed on my device manager
whenever i try to run the kdz offline flash tool (if i'm using the right one), it still doesn't detect the phone as connected, doesn't even try, just errors and tells me to connect to usb port and restart or exit
what am i supposed to do once i'm in fastboot recovery for my phone?
should i comment out the 2 listings i added to the hosts file? should i NOT be running shttps app? which kdz offline flash tool should i be using? (currently trying: UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe)

You should run start.bat and select flash ICS u-boot/x-loader for P769
When it finish, reboot you phone to S/W update mode and try to use UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe to flash your P769 kdz again to restore your phone.
Maybe I miss something about P769 model, please search in FAQ forum many people have this issue, and most of them have fixed it.

you guys are awesome!
finally got my phone back on rooted firmware
now to unlock the bootloader
I can get into cwm but everything i flash just leads me to a screen with the lg logo. Therefore, I'm trying to fast boot my phone and recover my phone but so far I've only been able to get to s/w upgrade mode and recovery stops at 15% because my computer sense that the phone isn't connected. I've tried running the recovery software in diag mode but it couldn't get past 15%. Can someone please help me?

Download LG mobile support (B2CAppSetup.exe) and select recover your phone. Your phone must be in S/W update mode and you must remove/comment LG server line in hosts file (for offline flash)
Try to use Lelus fast boot to flash ICS u-boot & x-loader (according to your phone model). And try to offline flash again. JB firmware does not work with offline flash.
How to fix partion problem !!!
After countlss hours of messing with the LG P769 This is how i got into S/W mode to work !
ASSUMING you know how to install fastboot drivers there are instructions on the forum ...so follow those guide note fastboot drivers work best on windows 7 windows 8 was giving me hard time ...
1.install fastboot drivers
2.run lelus script at the same time hold vol+ button once the script shows the OMAP device close the script and immediately put the battery back in .The LG phone will boot into S/W mode !
Make sure you write down your imei or serial number AND make sure battery is fully charged . then
Now simply use the LG software tool or the KDZ offline flasher look around the forum for how to guides
Thats it

Then try enter in lelus fastboot mode, ad then flash x-loader, uloader, boot.img and recovery.img from stock rom for your device type model. Then repeat steps 1 and 2
Where can I find the lelus script?

Sorry for reviving such an old thread, but oh well...
Your procedure doesn't seem to work with my device. Just to make sure we are using the same driver packages, can you post a link to the fastboot driver you have successfully used?
My L9 is always showing this "partition doesn't exist" error message, no matter what I try. Lelus's script seems to do the job and the phone is detected as a fastboot device, and can even be detected in LG Flash Tool (using a 910K cable), but flashing will stop after a little over 2 minutes, because the phone disconnects. During all of my attempts, the screen stays black.
Any hint?

Can you boot into recovery? We now have a custom recovery for locked bootloaders (and CM roms). If you can get into recovery, I would try some adb commands to mount the partitions.
No, no recovery. Just to make sure that I'm not doing it wrong, what is the key combination to boot to recovery?
I have also tried:
Code:
fastboot boot some_recovery_image.img
It says ok, but the phone just hangs at the black screen and becomes undetectable as a fastboot device, until I pull the battery. So, unless the some_recovery_image.img is unsuitable for my P760 (which may be!), there is something seriously wrong I think.
Or maybe I can try the same command with the custom recovery for bootloader locked phones... Where can I find it?

Your EMMC partition is wiped or fried... you really need a JTAG service or a Box like octopus because your L9 is Hard-bricked...
Thanks for your opinion. Yet, I still want to hear from others.
I'm running into more and more problems with the L9 as their me grows.
-Fastboot doesn't work under Windows 8.1 and 10, but under the now obsolete(for me) Windows 7, unlike my other devices, which are fine with Win 10.
-ADB seems to work, but requiring the device to be still able to boot.
-I always boot to recovery from within Android as long as the L9 ain't bricked. After a failed rom install, during which the sd card failed(could no longer write or be formatted afterwards, the last time stamps of files and folders were set during the failed install) I discovered a problem with TWRP(Artas182x's and Edwin's), which may have been present since a long time: Trying to invoke TWRP via keypress will brick the device!
So, if my P760 no longer boots, there's only download mode available, sort of the final line of defense.
-There's sort of a trick if even download mode fails: After a failed attempt unplug phone, force switch-off, if the phone is in brick state. Then switch on, force switch-off again, and only then attempt download mode again. And have patience while holding down the vol button, it might take up to 20 seconds for the phone to switch itself on into download mode. (A single forced powerdown will cause Fastboot NOT to work the next time)
But I'm absolutely clueless about the recovery issue, for now TWRP is semi-working, can only be accessed via Android, as long as the phone is fully working.
W/o Fastboot, I now have flashed stock rom several times and rooted it with Kingo rooter just to be able to run Flashify to install TWRP. If Flashify is the culprit for the TWRP issues, I could need a recommendation for a better working app.

Tried OMAP flasher ? It needs memory configuration file in order to work with our device
No, I didn't. I have sold the phone for spares.
Inviato dal mio LG-D855 utilizzando Tapatalk
I never needed the OMAP drivers and tools. As they are ancient, they will probably make even more problems with newer Windows versions.
I could by no means invoke Fastboot on this device with Windows 8.1 and 10, Seven worked. So you had to go for Download Mode instead to recover to stock rom, then root with the Kingo tool, then install TWRP via Rashr or Flashify, the most time consuming way to recover from the frequent bricks.
And the LG Flash Tool 2014 always needed several attempts to get the job done. The latest official recovery tool from LG works in D/L Mode, but will always download the rom image anew.
Hey guys, Been on XDA for a long time but never really had any issues until now.....
So I took the lollipop OTA and was waiting on a root method. I got the G3 rooted using the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772?nocache=1
Everything went fine and I was rooted and messing around when I went to uninstall the Xposed framework (not even sure why I wanted to...) anyway, once I hit reboot the phone rebooted but then got suck on the LG boot screen. I tried getting into stock recovery, but it showed up on the screen quickly and went back into the boot loop. I can't access download mode either....when I try it takes me straight to fastboot.
I am no adb or fastboot expert but I figured I would at least use adb comands to pull all the media files off of my internal memory (pics and vids of the kids) then use the LG flash tool to go back to stock. But when I open the command prompt adb devices doesn't show any devices listed....so no go there. Then I tried to reinstall laf.img but the fast boot command just sits there "waiting for device" and nothing ever happens.
I have literally spend all day at work trying to fix this...I've searched all over the forum and Google and can't find a method that will work for my situation. Please excuse my ignorance if I am not using these terms correctly. I really just want the pics off of my internal memory. I'll deal with unbricking later....but it seems like if I can't access recovery or download then I might not be able to do that either. Can anyone help? THANKS!
If you can please upload the screen your phone is on. Or possibly describe it a little more. If you can get adb working you can pull your whole picture directory(s). What OS are you running? Like windows/mac or linux?
---------- Post added at 08:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:02 PM ----------
On your computer if your on linux I have some files that I made that may help you. They may work on mac. If your on windows I will go ahead and link a tool. The files go and reboot your phone via adb and fastboot commands.
I'm on windows 7. when I go into recovery the screen shows Recovery mode. Then at the top, Error : boot certification verify.Secure booting error. Then the screen goes black and the led cycles red-blue.
If I try to get into download mode, the phone goes right to the fastboot screen. But then I cannot verify the device is connected by either adb commands or fast boot commands. Thanks
When your on one of the screens that work try these commands:
adb devices
fastboot devices
This should tell you if it is connected. Also what recovery are you running?
Ive tried both commands and neither show any connections. The fast boot and adb devices commands both return a blank line. and any other commands return an no connection error.
I tried installing twrp after the initial rooting process but it wasn't successful... but at that point I could still boot into the os. Then I screwed around with the Xposed framework and I've been stuck ever since.
I can't think of anything else if you can't get any connections working then you can't extract your photos and you can't boot. Only thing that I can thing to do is to go to sprint a get a new phone. If you don't mind please explain how you installed it to prevent more bricks.
Did u make sure u have good working version of the lge USB drivers? If u do, when u hold power up when phone is off and plug in the USB cable, your phone will turn on w the update firmware screen. Under com ports in device manager u should see your phone. Make sure u change your device port number to 41. Then flash tool will work.
Thanks to those who tried to help! Just wanted to give an update......
Here's what happened...I rooted ZV4 when I first got the phone and never installed any other roms or custom recovery. Root was broken when I installed the ZV6 OTA (I knew that would happen going in). So then I took the ZV8 OTA in hopes that I would be able to find a working root method after it was out for a while.
I rooted stock ZV8 with the guide listed in the first post (which has been updated since I originally used it). No problems.
I tried installing TWRP with the file I got from TWRP website specific to LS990. It failed and I can't remember why at the moment. I am still confused if I needed the bump'd version or not and I still am not sure what bump'd is (I've read about it) but that's my problem....
I was playing around granting SU permissions to all my apps that lost it at the OTA update and I wanted to uninstall the Xposed framework thru the app since it does not function in ZV8. When I went to uninstall, the app did its thing and rebooted the phone....and it never booted back up again.
At that point there was no access to recovery or download mode. It went straight to fastboot and I was never able to send any commands that did anything of use. I tried 3 different PC's, installing android sdk (with adb and fastboot) and LG drivers on all of them and I never got any communications to the phone except for one time where I was able to send fastboot commands that showed on the phone screen...but it kept hanging. I let it go for hours and it never finished/did anything. I tried fastboot commands to flash laf.img and recovery.img but nothing worked. I even used a Ubuntu live usb on 2 different PC's to just get the data off and try adb and fastboot but no comms there either.
Somehow I must have corrupted some of the partitions in the internal memory and I was not able to recover it. I know just enough to get me into trouble apparently. I've been flashing phones since my original Sprint Windows 6.1 touchscreen and never bricked one until now LOL.
I took the phone to Best Buy because I have the geek squad protection...but it is worthless for software issues...they wanted $150 deductible to replace the phone with a refurb...cheaper than a new phone but still worthless in my eyes for this issue. Then I went to sprint where the tech worked on it for 2 hours before he finally gave up. Sprint replaced my phone for $75...so not too bad. But I had to get their TEP, as luck would have it...it is open enrollment month for the protection so they gave me a $75 credit on my bill.
So the moral of the story...be careful messing around with the Xposed framework.
Just to let you know, it was your aboot. ZV8, L, aboot blocks bumped. So twrp is already bumped, err false signed. Well open bumped is way LG patched aboot.
Also windows sucks, use linux. Lol at less for fastboot
I'm having this exact problem too. Root went fine, but then when I flashed the recovery I got this same problem and it boots straight to Fastboot (when I'm lucky enough for anything to happen). Someone please help!
Run this command fastboot boot <recovery name here>
It will set your devices boot.img to twrp for one reboot then it will go back to your normal boot.img.

Did you try changing the action mode setting on the flash tool from "update DL" to "board DL"? Also make sure you have latest lg drivers and be on at least windows 7. I tried on vista and it will not work because you have to manually change the com port your device is on to com41 under the port section in device manager. Lgflash tool will say 41 but u actually have to change it. Let us know what happens. Oh and be sure phone is off and hold the " up" volume key then plug your phone into your computer

FIX BRICKED LG G3 (LS990) "Stuck In FastBoot". "LG Security Error". "Factory Reset 2"
Hello Im posting my solution to how I had fixed my bricked LG G3 LS990. I bricked it a few days ago and searched tons of forums and youtube videos and it was tough trying to find a solution for this variant of the LG G3. And I had seen that everyone who was having the same problems I had couldnt find the solution either, but luckily somehow I had figured it out...I even took my phone to the Sprint store after my phone was getting "Security Error" and they couldnt even fix it and had to ship me a new one in which I no longer need since I fixed it myself...
My phone had went through these 3 phases in this order, so I also have the instructions in same order ( Be Sure To Follow All Directions Closely)

- FACTORY RESET STATUS 2
I followed these suggestion & it worked on my LS990 (Sprint G3) : On LG FlashTool I switched to Board DL instead of Upgrade DL
Your phone will reboot to the AAT Screen – Click OK (Yes, it says not to), then press normal boot (+power).
Your phone will reboot and all should be well.
It seems to have helped a few people get past that screen

Thank you so much for your help! I bricked my G3, unfortunately, and found your steps! I am currently only getting the security error. I tried to reflash using lg flash tools, but I get a 'Model information check failed' error when i try to. I'm definitely using a tot file for the VS895 (which is my version). If there is any guidance you may be able to provide I would be very grateful!!
thank you!

Hows it going, have you tried selectiong "Board DL" instead of "Upgrade DL" on FlashTools?
Or the best thing id try to do is use the LG Firmware Extractor and using the TOT file for your model phone select and extract the following files..you may may have to change the extensions to .img after extracted
boot
aboot
recovery
laf
dbi
modem
persist
primartgpt
rpm
stl1
tz
And Follow Step 1

If any lg drivers are showing in device manager try uninstalling them and install the official drivers for your device at the lg website or google the most recent drivers and retry my steps. Does anything phone in device manager at all when you connect your phone

Now, when i try to get in download mode (battery at 0%, hold vol + button and connect usb cable) the phone shows for a second the "fastboot" screen that says to continue holding vol + for etnering download mode than ----> black screen and LG logo appears, black screen again and the phone reboot again and again...
Someone know how to get in fastboot without go in download mode?
I have only to get in fastboot then i'll push the boot, laf files to flash the complete firmware...PLEASE HELP!

i bricked my device and so i got into download mode and connected to lg tools and installed 4.4 kitkat again here is link if you need download tools

If he really erased LAF from his phone he can not get into download mode any more, because LAF is the download mode.
If he was in the situation where he could erase LAF he could have easily rescued his phone by flashing stock images.
Now it will be hard to rescue but there is nothing to loose any more.
You can try to get into fastboot by:
hold vol + button and connect usb cable.
As soon as you see the fastboot screen release all buttons.
Try to connect your phone via fastboot.
Try to flash original aboot + original LAF
Maybe flash original boot + system
or
Go to Download mode and flash original KDZ in emergency mode (CSE).

Thank u zaaap! Unfortunately even when i release all buttons the telephone get into the download mode (that dont exist anymore) and reboot... Im a fool that forget to push the laf stock. Anyway i bought a new motherboard... I think that replacing will solve my problem..
If you connect the phone to USB with a PC, does the PC show anything in explorer or device manager?
If yes, there is still a chance to recover it.
I'm referring to THIS task.
I have not done it before but it could work and you have nothing to loose.
Make sure you get the correct KDZ for your phone from HERE.
Extract the original images with WindowsLGFirmwareExtract
You can find the partition list HERE

Nope man, i only hear the usb plug in/plug out sound of Win7 but nothing in explorer or the lg app on the pc. Its obvious that i have the drivers stock and the others of Android SDK platforms (i used adb and fastboot very uasually when the telephone was funtional).
Anyway thank u all for the help, i had the telephone bricked for the unlocking of the bootloader and i thought that my phone was over, the argument is very difficult to afford on this site and on this device, i sent the telephone at the LG Custom Care and they only told me that the motherboard was over and replace it costs 130€ (im Italian) so i reclined their offer (i have also a Oneplus X) but after some deep research on XDA i made big steps forward and maybe if didnt make the stupid thing of forgot to flash the laf stock, maybe i could be able to rescue my phone. So a big big big Thank to the community of XDA and a infinite f**k to LG Custom Care that they would stole me 130€.
Ps. I bought an LG D620 with the display destroyed for 30€ and ill replace the Motherboard.
Pps. Sorry for my bad English.

Wrong thread.
But, if you have a stock ROM, use LG's drivers. If you have a custom ROM, use Google's drivers.
