[Q] Please help! Galaxy S2 failed flash - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello buddies,
I think I have a big problem. Flashing failed on my Galaxy S2 I9100. As a result I cannot turn on the phone, I cannot get to Download mode, neither recovery mode, I cannot connect via USB, it doesn't recognize any devise, I reinstalled USB drivers, I tried on different PCs, I only get the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." ONLY when I plug in the charger. When plug it off, it's gone and nothing else appears on screen whatever I try. I just don't know what to do now... I do not have an access with PC. Can somebody help me please, I'm very discouraged now. Every post will be appreciated!

That message on the screen with the phone---!---pc pic is download mode - forced download mode.
The only way you're fixing it is if you get it to successfully take an Odin flash. Find Hopper8's 'Odin won't flash thread' & try the stuff in that thread till it works. Most people in this situation are looking for an easy fix & there isn't one. It may not work the first time you try, but it might on the 10th try. Persevere.
Edit - Oh, and your phone is staying busted until you do get access to a PC.

Thank you veeeery much for this help!!!
There were 2 problems. First my battery was completely drawn and it wasn't charging it at all when plugged in the charger because all the energy was in use for that super power consuming emergency mode (the device was getting hotter than never before). Then I took the battery and charged it fully on another Galaxy S2 (hopefully I could find one). Then I was able to enter the normal download mode. Then I prepared an original ROM and I tried to install it through Odin. The second problem was my maybe faulty cable which didn't let the installation to continue from the initialization. Then I used another unbranded cable from $1.99 and it just RAN! I installed the latest official ROM and the phone works as it should. A happy end I think. There is one more thing however.. Before the new installation the camera had a little pink spot in the middle only when shooting inside. Many say that all S2 have this problem and that this is a software issue of the white balance. I tried to play with the white balance settings and when turn off the auto-balance and for example choose daylight the pink spot is not present anymore... With the new ROM the problem is still here. I was wondering whether if I change the camera itself with a new this will solve the problem...?? But who knows if it's really a soft problem...
Thanks again for the tips it helped me a lot as I'm new to this.
Regards,
Nick.

[Q] HOW to Update or reflash Galaxy s2 Bootloader

i have a problem with my galaxy s2 exactly like this: got a wierd problem. My galaxy S2 refuses to shut down.
When I shut the phone down without a USB cable connected then the phone turns black and the 'menu and 'return' button lights up then the phone vibrates. at this stage before the buttons turns black and the phone was totally shut down. now instead the buttons are still lit after the vibration and then the phone starts up again.
With a USB plugged in after the vibration when shutting down I get to the screen where the battery indicating charging is shown, but as soon i remove the USB cable the phone starts.
The power button is not stuck.
It's not rooted: cleared the cache in 3e recovery. No change.
I fully charged my battery. No change
I drained my battery to 0%. No change
I tried another battery. No change.
Well i thing i should Re-flash a Bootloder or install another one, is there any idea how to do that throw ODIN1.85 Please please please help me im just

WELL....
Can you people be more clearly on Ur Tips Please, Do i have to Update Bootloader or Bootloader will Automatically update after i flash a Full firmware via Odin or during update a frimware do i need to click a tick there writting "UPDATE BOOTLOADER" or not or let me know any Solution pleaseeeeeeeeeee . English is my 3rd Langue so Please try to explane with a Simply English Brothers and sister. I feel sucks No one can fix my Problem here in Kosovo.
If you are going to flash New firmware via Odin from intratech you will automatically get the right (older) bootloader that lets you clear the flash counter with the jig.
If you have already flashed KI3 or KI8 from somewhere else chances are you will have the new bootloader flashed on your phone.
If that is the case intratech has the older bootloader that you can download and flash via Odin without having to flash the full firmware again.
Read the 1st few posts in his thread carefully for the exact steps to follow.
Good luck.

I has this same problem after flashing ki4. Would not shut off. Kept booting up every time I tried to switch off. After a bit of searching I found a fix got my phone. Just remove the battery for 30 seconds. Reinstall and try again. Might not work for you but won't cost anything to try.
Edit
Just read. You already tried another battery do this won't help you. Sorry.

[Q] Stuck in "Connect phone to PC" mode

Hi,
I have a samsung galaxy player 5 international version (YP-G70CW). I wanted to upgrade to Gingerbread, but my attempt failed.
I put it into download mode and started up odin, trying to flash this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414565
It got stuck on "Setup connection...". I now realize it was probably because I didn't shut down the kies process running in the background (which really should be included in the guides).
nyway I tried it a few times more, but then gave up and held down the power button to exit download mode. I'm now stuck in this mode only showing a "Phone ! computer" image every time I try to restart the device, and I cannot get it back into download mode. Odin recognises the device and I didn't really flash anything onto it so I would think it would still be good?
I read somewhere else that to fix it you should take out your battery and sim card for a while and try again. The Player 5 cannot easily be opened to get to the battery though, so is there another way to get out of this mode?
I've tried looking for an answer but come short. Would really appreciate some help.
Thanks

This is also download mode...
If you flash a gingerbread kernel( I think rj's is gingerbread only?), I do not think it will boot a froyo rom. I would suggest that you flash one of the INTL ROM's(or mine) along with rj's kernel.
Haha I feel stupid But great answer. Thank you!
Yea I was going to flash your ROM, but it said in your guide as the first step to flash that kernel first. Gonna try it now.

Can't power on after interrupted firmware flash via odin

I've flashed several custom roms (Cyanogen/MIUI/Checkrom) to my i9000 with no problems. I wanted to try out 'Android 4.0.4 ROM - Dark Knight 5.5', and was instructed to first flash stock firmware XXJVU.
I used this guide for flashing Dark Knight: www(dot)theandroidsoul(dot)com/android-4-0-4-rom-for-galaxy-s-dark-knight/
Which lead me to these instructions for flashing XXJVU: /www(dot)theandroidsoul(dot)com/xxjvu/
After pressing start on Odin1.85 there was no progress for some time, so I followed these steps:
"IMPORTANT NOTE: If Odin doesn’t seem to be progressing/doing anything for more than a minute, do the following:
Disconnect the phone from the PC, close ODIN, remove battery, re-insert it, turn phone on in Download mode again, and do the procedure again from Step 6."
After doing so, my phone is completely unresponsive. It will not power on, enter download mode or recovery mode.
I've scoured the net and believe my only option is to return to where I bought it for repairs. However I would like to see if there is an alternative as I have spent the last few days trying all manner of custom roms, voiding my warranty and leaving me liable for repair costs.
If anyone has a fix for this or some advice, I'd much appreciate the help.

Hi there,
Sorry to here about your problem. I would say the only option is to send back to Samsung for repair and
ohope they just see a dead phone and send a new one. Without delving to deeply.
Or go to your local service shop and see if they can jtag it for you
Good luck!
I am sure you would have tried this but still I am going ahead and say it
Try charging the phone using a wall charger for good 4-5 hrs , provided that it heats up, remove the battery and let it cool then re insert the battery and try holding the button combo to get into recovery or download mode..

You should definitely try what iamanoopmk proposed in thread #3 before returning the device. If you still can't get into download mode using the buttons, a USB Jig could be the last resort.
Thanks for the replies folks!
I bit the bullet and took he phone back to the place where I bought it. I'm living in China so I pleaded ignorance and took advantage of the language barrier. I had to wait around for an hour to get a decision from the manager, but they replaced the phone for me! I think I've been quite lucky indeed.

emergency help guys i totally bricked my phone

i have a rooted samsung galaxy s2 and i have flashed a custom rom...........yesterday i made an update and my phone didnt let all of a sudden go t recovery mode...........in the afternoon i reboot it and stoped in the animation.............the problem is that i didnt enable the usb debug...........i tried t flash a jip with odin but when i hit the start buton my phone fall from the desk and the cable left..............so my phone now says only firmware updated encountered an issue.....please select recovery mode in kies &try again...............also now the pc doesnt recognise it..........neither odin and i can only go on download mode
please help me
The cable unplugged during a flash? That's nasty. Don't hold your breath. Click the link in my signature and go to the section which says 'Odin won't recognise'. Try the things listed there. Like I said though, don't get your hopes up. Likely need a motherboard replacement.
Edit: and don't double post. Especially don't start a new thread to double post. And while we're at it, this isn't an emergency. It's a phone for goodness sake.

[Help Please] I'd like to try unbrick GT-i9300 international model by using SDcard

Dear everyone who have this knowledge,
According to the title, my GT-i9300 has a hard brick problem - can't access the recovery mode and download mode anymore. Thus, I'd like to try this method >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660566 that is created by dreamwave (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=5315165). The issue is this method try to solve problem by using "The debrick image" but I can't find i9300 international model image file. If anyone know where this file is or where to find it, please tell me. However, if anyone have another better method, it would be great.
Thank you very much
PS. I apologize for my poor English, I hope you can understand.
Best Regards,
Thakoon
My problem is similar
My problem is similar, however I can still get into the downloading mode, I have done all the possible ways (I know) via Odin but did not succeed, someone knows what can I do?
I have done: With Odin, try to install the original ROM (stock), over and over different roms, however when I tried to format the device's internal memory using the PIT file, Odin shows running PIT file, put the machine to restart it does not ask to install a custom ROM like, unfortunately it remains in the device home screen "Samsung Galaxi SIII GT-I9300", and not out of it.
Need help! please respond to us.
I think it is possible to unbrick but what do you mean with image file the Firmware or what.
And i think there is a possibility to start the recovery or Download Mode withoud using Buttons
And (last and) please describe a little bit more with details of your Bricked Phone

Mostly all problems can be fixed with the Download Mode in samsung devices but can you try to flash a re-downloaded s3 Stock ROM becuase its maybe damaged file and check the MD5 or sh1 if you can(of the downloaded Stock ROM)
And you can also try to flash only a CMW or other Recovery with Odin and install a custom Rom easily with the Recovery // And trust me a S3 with Custom rom Like the CyanogenMod is definitely better than the Stock :good: faster to download and easier to Install:good:
I've tried before.
hello friend, thank you for being help me.
then this device is entering only in download mode, already tried putting other Recovery, all ROM tried to put the unit, and the unit counter is already on 5, has a confident tutorial where can I follow him?

Hello Crazygamer0872, according to this >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660566, he call it a debrick image. I honestly don't know what that 'image file' is but I think I should try this method, yet he didn't have 'image file' for i9300 international model. Or I should try another method like USB JIG?
I will give you more details about my bricked phone:
1. I was done successfully install rom Lollipop by Bliss team on my S3 (i9300) and it was fine. Then, I didn't use S3 for a while (I have another phone), I turn it off. Unfortunately, when I turn it on again, it is dead, no respond.
2. My S3(i9300) bricked condition:
- can not open phone, actually it open but in a black screen - how I know it open? >> answer is I still hearing a notification sound.
- it don't show up anything, no boot samsung screen, no downloading mode screen show up (I have try this downloading mode and connect with Odin, no connect) and no recovery mode screen show up.
- when I plug in charger, no screen show up but it still light up a LED charging indicator.
Is the black screen glowing when you show at the screen while charging vor hearing the notification sounds. When it glows in black than its a Software Problem when not all is OK but your screen or the cable from the screen to the Platine is damaged
And sry for my Bad english
