Is there a way to force a update after yu delete bloatware
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Update won't work without the bloatware installed. If you are rooted then don't forget to install voodoo ota rootkeeper. Then you go inside the app and hit the protect root button before the update.

Hey I want to try this: Do you have cwm? If you do try to do an advanced restore then choose your backup then choose your file.

No boatloader locked

SO? My bootloader is locked too and I still have custom recovery. Listen I'm working on my update.zip file that will transfer all system apps via cwm. If you have root then get the l9 recovery installer 1.5 from Artas182x from here.
EDIT: Ok here is my update.zip link. Just install the zip in cwm and you should be good to go.

This update bootlooped my device. I wiped and reset my device no avail.

Really, boot looped? Weird, didn't encounter that problem before. Had it to where it would not boot, but never boot loop. Look go here to get s rooted cwm ROM and flash it. But it will reset your phone.

Rezound bootloader unlocked, now what?

I was using the all-in-one tool, successfully unlocked the bootloader, but stuck on the flash recovery part. Does flashing a recovery give root access? And if so, how do I do it? I started up fastboot in the bootloader, then hit the flash recovery option in the all-in-one root program. Command prompt comes up , phone reboots, and I still don't have root access. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Recovery is just a part of the phone that is separate from the OS that you use to manage your system. You can install new ROMs, wipe old ones, make backups, and more.
Flashing recovery does not give you root. You can get root in recovery.
Okay, how can I tell if the recovery is installed, and how do I use it to gain root access? Thanks

Shut down your phone. Take out the battery, and put it back in. Press power and volume down simultaneously until you see the white hboot screen. After the green lines disappear, use the volume buttons to highlight and press power to select "recovery".
Once there, in "other" you can install superuser. If that doesn't work you can flash a zip that is laying somewhere around the forums but I don't have it.
Okay! Now we are in business. Installed super user. Phone boots up fine, going to attempt some tethering. Thanks!

Superuser is installed and updated, but I don't seen to have root access. Any thoughts?

No dice. Should I flash a different recovery? Try and install superuser again?

Rooting doesn't give you the ability to flash ROMs, you have to have the bootloader unlocked and have a custom recovery such as twrp or cwm.
Thought you needed it unlocked to have a rom on it to start with. It has the cleanrom se1.5 on it now

Ok, you didn't say that you only said it was rooted.
What steps are you taking to flash a new ROM?
You said it fails, what's the failure?
Have you tried going into recovery mode? Turn off your phone, press and hold volume up+home button+and power button till u reach the boot animation then release the buttons. You will either be in cwm or twrp. If you reached this step, then you can flash a rom that is built for your specific note 2 version. From the recovery menus you can follow the necessary steps to install. Let us know what you see.
Ps make sure you do a back up just incase

To do this get GooManager from the Play Store, and follow the directions in the description. I believe you press menu and then install a script.

I'd clean the phone up and return it to stock. Start from there.
Also, are you using a custom recovery like twrp or cwm? also, is your BL unlocked?

Did you check the md5 and what ROM are you flashing?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
how does a person check the md5 and i have tried the beans11 and jedi10 and both have errors and fail
There is an option in TWRP that makes it look for an MD5 match... but unless you have the MD5 accessible to TWRP it will fail and not install.
Make sure the option is not checked when you go to flash.
To manually check the MD5 yourself to verify your downloads... you need an app on your PC that has the ability. Google will point you right.
Then to check the MD5, you have the app analyze the file and compare it to the MD5 provided in the ROM thread.
thanks unchecked the md5 stuff and it works thanks

Finally Rooted, but now what can't I do now?

Well I got root via jcase method, but haven't unlocked bootloader, which means no cwm
So what all should I be careful of?
I know back on the Optimus V that If you root you can no longer factory reset, is that the same case here?
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda app-developers app
You can install CWM recovery without having an unlocked bootloader.
Factory resets will go fine as long as all pre-installed system apps/bloatware are still intact.
Thanks I just installed cwm a few min ago, as for bloatware imma backup via Titanium Backup.
So correct me if I'm wrong, but all I would have to do is restore all bloat before I fact reset. (I shouldn't have to anytime soon)

A better option is to use the disable bloat script. It is located at /system/etc/disable_tmus_packages.sh. You can read about it here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2114222 Just use s-manager to run it at boot, and you can still factory reset and get OTA no problem.

If I update a system app and then integrate it into system will factory reset still work?

if your s-on you forgot to take the boot.img from the rom and flash it via fastboot
Edit: Only use boot.img from the rom your gonna install....make sure you read proper method in first few posts from developer as there is instructions to make your phone work properly
Yes, you need to flash the boot image if you are S-ON...
But save the headaches and don't even bother flashing a ROM from your installed recovery (you really don't even need to install a custom recovery at all), all you need is the "recovery.img" from the recovery ZIP file of choice, although I currently recommend TWRP, in your adb directory and the ROM on your SD card then...
1) Reboot into Hboot and start Fastboot, connect PC
2) Type "fastboot boot recovery.img" and wait a minute for the Recovery to start on the phone
3) Wipe as per normal for installing a ROM
4) Install/Flash ROM zip as per normal
5) Reboot and enjoy!

It's worth going S-Off if you are going to flash very often at all... makes it so much easier to just flash one file and done.
It seems scary, but if you follow the instructions, it's not bad at all. I've done it twice now.
Also, you will have to flash a stock rom first (it's been done on other rom's, but ymmv... its safest to go stock before s-off).

You can do it from custom roms too, from what I've seen, but since you are stock, that is perfect

Unable to flash custom recovery after root

I was messing around and had a soft brick so I odin'd back to stock rom and got everything running and got root up and running. No matter how I do it I can NOT get a custom recovery to install. I tried Goo Manager which never actually downloads the file. I found the .tar file to install manually via Odin and it says it fails. I even tried clockwork mod to install clockwork recovery and it just boots me to the stock recovery. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Install the all in one root and recovery tool for mdk...since you are already rooted you can skip that step...select the prep for recovery option...it will clean up and get rid of things that interfere with custom recovery and then select install either oudhs or twrp...these will allow you to flash updated cwm/twrp versions which I recommend to ensure proper flashing of newer roms...once one of these is installed you can always use rom manager or goo manager or the others to update...but I believe the prep for recovery step is crucial in having a functional custom recovery

Our devices are quirky... Some will do just fine just randomly flashing recovery...others just won't behave without going through the prep for recovery step...I know I flashed stock with Odin once before rooted again and had the same problems getting custom recovery setup...used the same steps to fix it then too...I would recommend these for anyone having issues with recovery install
