How to restore old nandroid backups with new clockworkmod recovery? I did nandroid backup when I had 5.xxx clockworkmod. I upgraded to 6.0.3.6 and now md5 won't match. Is it possible to restore old backup?
Md5 not matching is not a recovery version problem. It is a backup corruption problem.
You can try and toggle off md5 verification and the backup will restore although what state your phone will be in afterwards is anyones guess

Hello there guys.

I used a clockwork 4.0.1.4 with root enabled..i flashed it whit Odin.
Thanks guys

Flash a clean stock rom as your backup is corrupt.

Same issue
I took a full backup with CWM (4.0.0.2) to test a Kitchen ROM. After getting it to work I wanted to switch back to my standard ROM (CF-Root KE7), but it failed with the boot image ("error flashing boot image").
If the backup was corrupt I would expect the MD5 to fail, but it didn't. Like the OP I was able to restore all the other items one by one, which now gives me a Frankenstein ROM: KE7 with the Kitchen-selected Kernel (Ninphetamine) and baseband (KH1).
I'll flash a new stock ROM with CF-Root again, but I am doubting CWM now.
I have a backup previously saved onto SD card.
And then after failing to move onto another rom, I want to restore back to my old one. So I flashed stock rom WKE7.
And rooted it, so I have ROM manager, CWM and Superuser.
I go into CWM and choose Restore, and select it.
Then it reboots to recover, but gets stuck on:
"Checking MD5 sums..."
Any help please?
Thanks in advance
Try turning your phone off and booting into recovery using the buttons and then restore. It's also best to backup from recovery rather than using the cwm app or rom manager.

I have turnt phone off and tried to boot into recovery. That is the place I get stuck.
I choose back and restore, restore, then choose the restore file. then...
ClockworkMode Recovery v4.0.0.2
With the MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring bot image...
Error while flashing bootimage!
=(
At first I made a backup of the stock state of my gT-p7500 once I got root.
Lately I installed Overcome 2.3.1 and it brings the new CWM 5.5.0.4.
I am trying to restore the STOCK backup, it seems to pass the md5sum and all but when it gets to the restore of the system, data it does nothing.
Previous CWM version I had when I did the backup was 4.0.0.4 which is the one ROM Manager installs.
Any tips apreciated. Thank you.

Solution:
Through ROM Manager there is a new CWM version available v5.8.3.1 which seems to address this issue and now the restore is working.
Hi there,
I bought a new i9100 to replace my broken i9100 (screen smashed into pieces).
I took a CWM backup of the old one, and have copied it into the CWM backup directory on the new i9100. ( something like : /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/<date> )
Can I just reboot into CWM and then attempt to restore the backup? Both devices are i9100 gsm 16Gb versions.
Regards.
if you used the search function, you would have found another thread asking the same question.
short answer is yes.
I did search , but still missed it. Thank-you for replying. I thought it would work but had to verify here.
Actually the short answer is Yes if you are careful. THe backup has to be from the same CWM version as I just discovered.
I just tried it.
CMW v 5.5.0.4
Current installed with stock Samsung ICS.
Restore from known working CMW backup for CM10.1.
Results:
Checking MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Restoring system...
Error while restoring /system...
Now that a later version of CMW is installed one has to reboot into CWM again, and then run the restore again.

One more step, please!!!
Can someone tell me how to custom restore from my backup. My backup is 5 months old and don't want to totaly restore it with the recovery.
what options do I have to choose at the custom recovery screen?
1. The bootloader (I can enter into recovery mode but cannot boot normal). Am I gonna loose the recovery func? because when backed up didn't have it!
2. The kernel (To make the phone to boot into recovery I flashed the Philz kernel)
3. ex-tweaks start up values (This is what I mess, if I can restore the values from my backup everything will boot normal)
PLEASE!
Edit-
I try to restore the boot from my backup but error MD5 mismatch came up
Please help

How I fixed it:
After I was trying kernels from the date of my last backup, one worked. The only program until now missing was extweaks, so I first reset the profile from the recovery screen and then I installed it.
Everything works now
