Hi all!
I was just wondering why a so good phone from the point of quality/price ratio like the Desire X is not so common as I would expect.
It's really unexplainable, especially if I see how many Galaxe Aces there are out there...
There are a lot of DXs, but few people that have them are on xda, i think. I've got the feeling that most devs aim for high ranged smartphones, so they go and buy ones, s4s, nexus...maybe im wrong, but i saw many DXs on street
Sent from my precious!! HTC DX
I don't seee many DX on street, as of now I didn't see anyone with it besides me. I just think the phone isn't that popular because not many people know about it. There's not that much advertising for it...
HTC release the SAME phone with DIFFERENT design.
Desire P, Desire L, Desire X,Y,Z and whatnot.................. Most of them are similar specced but 1-2% different. and each is released as a small quantity batch.
HTC is not taking any risk, and that is bringing them down in terms of phone sales. That's just my thinking.
because htc desire x is a mid end budget smartphone and htc are not that mainstream compared to samsung or apple

They have stopped the production of single SIM desire x. Now only dual SIM versions are available

HTC is constantly Having newer & bigger Flagship devices every few months, so when a phone series based around the Original HTC flagship device (The Desire) came out people got a bit excited (i know i did) but upon seeing the Specs of the new desire Range it was just dismissed by many for a newer Modern flagship.
The Desire range seems to be going strong though and I dare say If a "HTC Desire ONE" (you heard it here first ) came out then The desire series would get a mega boost in popularity and so would our beloved DesireX (who knows whats in the HTC pipeline though)
but yeah not so long ago there was a bit of an influx of DX users but they seemed to disappear ...... Hahaha theyre all waiting for Cyanogenmod before they make their Grand appearance
I never seen anyone with a desire x and carphone warehouse said don't buy it its a crap phone nobody wants them so I got one off the advice in here and I love it does evreything I want it to do and more only thing I don't like is no compus
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app
I think that i am the only one in my city , I have`t seen anybody else with DX. I think because there are so many Desire "?" phones.

Was it necessary to create a new thread just to ask this??? Don't we have enough pointless threads already?
If you are referring to "Beats Audio" and trying to be clever in title, then Samsungs sound is amazing and much better than my Sensation XE
or If you are asking why samsung is better than HTC heres my opinion.
HTC do nice premium devices (as from 3 years ago), materials etc feel expensive and very premium. However being with HTC for the last 10 years, they always fail on software on performance and I have always needed to root them and put a ROM on them to make it better. I do like Sense though.
However as this is my first samsung smartphone I can only say they case is nice not as premium feel as HTC but the software is very good, the phone is responsive and the interface is quick and nice.
Are we talking about Beats Audio or Samsung just being better than HTC?
I've been an HTC customer for years, way before Android when they were making iPaq devices. I like(d) HTC so my first Android phone was an HTC but I think they're just having trouble competing properly because the hoi polloi don't know the name, so HTC undercut competitors and sacrifice on build quality.
Almost everyone I know has an iPhone or Blackberry. They scoff at "that HTC thing" I had, they think Android is the poor man's smartphone. The majority of people like to copy others when they don't understand the choices available to them so they naturally go with Apple, Blackberry and the more adventurous ones who are willing to try Android will opt for Samsung, Sony and Motorola.
I picked Samsung this time based on spec and my perception of HTC failing to build functional, reliable devices.
My eXperience about htc n samsung.
I had got htc sensation after using battery is horrible
.sound quality is horrible.very low sound. Then sold out after 1 day.
Then got samsung s2 .with this i m satisfied.
After some days i got htc sensation xe .i feel same thing sould quality not so much good as samsung.battery is horrible.i sold out then got s2 white .at third time i didnot buy one x .coz i knw iit is useless for me now i got s3 n m satisfied

Same can be said for Samsung mate. I've had GS1 for two years and we also had a GS2 too. I wasted so much of my life flashing so many betas, rc's, finals on those two devices.... And we all know why.. **** stock roms with performance to match. All I ever wanted was a sense Rom. Never happened.
Tried a GS3 and One X and kept the One X. All Virgin stock and working so well. No need to flash a thing. No more titanium backups failing. No more bootloops. And. Got my life back.

I'm a Samsung Man (TV DVD wise). My first Samsung phones are the S series. I love them truly awesome phones i want for nothing with them..
But i got to say i'm so proud of HTC and their One X phone. It's their first true brand phone that sits above all their others for the first time. When you want the best from HTC, you now know it's the One X. In the past i couldn't tell you what their hero phone was.
HTC makes great phones, but they lost their edge. On my next device, I don't want to do a htcdev bootloader unlock, nor do I want to wait around for my phone to die. Since, I can't do a battery pull because of the built-in batteries. When it comes to Android it is either Samsung or HTC. Sense was fun, Touchwiz sounds like fun. Besides there's even going to be some new development taking place on the Sprint/possibly Verizon CDMA sides.

I almost got myself the One X... such a great phone untill... I noticed the BEATS (Tm)
I immediately went for the S3.. as I don't want overpriced logo c*** on the back of my phone
I'm a user of HTC. Used to use HTC Hero, now - Sensation. Their smartphones has many software bugs. The percentage of hardware bugs is very high. Though their repairing service is ****. They can repair your phone for months...
They will cancel your guarantee because of root automatically (htcdevs). In the same time the smartphones' quality is very poor, the telephones can be cracked from time to time. And not-warranty repairing can cost you the price of a new phone.
The antenna and sound are awful at all HTCs beginning from Sensation. And finally their battery is a piece of ****. Now it's built-in, so can not be replaced by 3rd party one.
NEVER buy HTC smartphones.
Hi
HTC are holding a press conference on the 19th Sept regarding two new handsets, the Android One X+ and a Windows 8 phone.
Any news on a release date for the One X+ in the UK.
Thanks

Hi
Yea but these press conferences seems to bang on about US release dates and trying to find out about UK dates is a nightmare, the HTC website never tells you anything and mobile providers like carfone warehouse are always the last to know.
I was just looking around this afternoon and came across the news of a new One X, called the One X+, and with my old contract up on Thursday I'm glad I saw the new One X+ due for release, I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to upgrade my HTC Desire HD.
I was going to buy the Flyer when it was first released but held off because I didn't want to use it (note taking) like the Samsung Galaxy Note, and for me the flyer is a tad too small as a tablet. I have the Acer A700 now - never looked back.
I shall watch and search for interest on the 19th news of a UK release date for the One X+
NEW HTC Flyer to be released, search for pocket-lint in google.
Cheers.

One X+ might be just for US though...Since they do not have the quadcore version they might be just getting that...But time will tell. Regarding tablets just wanna have the best of both worlds and might be going for the ipad...we shall see though..and the one x at the moment is a great phone even with the new upgrade if it becomes worldwide available..still do not get the logic if it does and it is an upgrade for the current one x...thought they will not be releasing so many models in a calendar year...but if it is a phablet then i would say would be a great upgrade for you mate

Why would they?
Sell it on eBay if you want a slightly newer phone already.
important hoping it is just a minor upgrade. i would prefer HTC not to make it 5" because it might as well be 4.7 not much different. if t is 5.5" then it won't seem as if the one x is outdated because it is a different category of device. hoping it is a sensation to sensation xe upgrade

The big change will be the LTE connectivity, something the One X doesn't have in it's T3 variant.

They rushed out the T3 One X and in good faith, customers that want a T3 One X with LTE shouldn't have to fork out full wack. Besides, even Apple subsidise their upgrades.

Apple are looking for and can afford (due to the app store) customer lock in.
HTC does not have this additional revenue stream.
If you wanted a phone with feature X, buy a phone with feature X. Damn, these days people feel so entitled to everything. Get a job and pay for it, rather than expecting everything for free and complaining when you don't.
There will be no trade in, they don't need to do this. 4G is only just about to start in the UK so obviously the One X didn't cater for that as the technology wasn't available in the UK at that time. If you need 4G then sell your One X and fund it towards the One X+.

You're gonna need a hand to get down off that high horse of yours. Don't act a twit. No one mentioned anything about a free phone swap. What was mentioned was a subsidised trade-in. i.e. I pay a £100 plus my HOX and get a HOX+. Hardly unreasonable.

Of course it's unreasonable. If you go to work one day and the boss pays you, you don't expect him to take 80% of that wage off you when you work the next day.
HTC are running a business not a charity designed to enable the world with the latest smartphone.
Sell the old phone and buy the new one. HTC are hardly required to deal with the second hand market. They don't have a retail presence strong enough for it for a start.

What you're saying doesn't even make sense in the real world. Apple lock people into the iPhone with subsidies. As such Samsung offered subsidies at the Samsung store with users upgrading from the GS2 to the GS3. You do understand about locking your users into a brand right. It's better to get some money now rather than risk losing them all together when their contract is up. You build a premium by incentiviseing a purchase. The more people to have a phone a phone, the stronger your brand.
So i just wanna know, Are you guys gonna switch to a newer phone out there anytime soon?,HTC has pretty much dumped the EVO 3D (Shame on you HTC,Shame on you) Are you switching to another HTC Device or going with another brand? I Switched to a Galaxy note 2 around a month ago, I dont think ill ever go back to an HTC phone..once the phone is out for 9-12 months..htc never mentions it ever again..Look at the One X its being overlooked by HTC because they got the new phones out. Not everyone wants to have a high end device with a 1080p screen and pay 800 $ for one. Some just want a mid range device. But im talking too much on HTC now.I still use my EVO 3D whenever im travelling because i got the 4000 mah battery on it which lasts a hell alot of time even with overclock.

Yeah HTC has a habit of dropping their flagships after a year. The Desire got dropped after the update from 2.1 to 2.2, now the EVO 3D dumped at ICS. I just bought a One X because of it's specs and I'm dreading to see how long HTC is going to support it for
I've pretty much dumped sprint altogether and went to a droid RAZR on Verizon. I barely had a good connection plus it was getting too expensive for me. Its a good mid range phone and costs 100 on new contract, 150 for droid RAZR HD which I recommend. By all means if you feel the need to switch phones. Mine were purley financial reasons but I still keep my evo 3d and update it whenever a new release for my favorite ROM comes out. Purely a preference thing.

You should have purchased Exynos s2 or s3 as they still perform much better than the tegra 3 one x. Many games get extra graphic effects and enhancements on S3 and even on S2 but not on tegra 3 one x.... Or your one x is the Qualcomm variant?

Ok, but please don't purchase a tegra 3 device, it's a horribly slow chipset. The combination of Exynos and Mali 400MP4 forms a beast in multitasking, processing and even in gaming. Tegra 4 might be better. But Exynos 5 and next gen Mali GPUs will again outperform tegra 4.
Our evo 3d at Galaxy s2/s3 graphics in modern combat 4 performs better than one x. One X lags and 3D does not.
Thanks for the heads up brother. I'll definitely keep that in mind. And speaking of performance, this leads to another question I want to ask.......*goes off to make a new thread*
Over the last few years I have owned the following phones:
Sony Xperia X10
HTC Desire HD
HTC Sensation
Samsung Galaxy SII
Sony Xperia S
Sony Xperia V
And now I have hat the HTC One X+ since November or December...
And I do actually still have all of them inclusive a few smaller android phones also...
Looking back, there is really not much changed from my Sony Xperia X10, and to today...
(at least when we talk about daily use)
At the moment I find my self in love with the new Sony Xperia Z...:-S
I am confused...
My wife have just about the same track record and also want the Xperia Z now...:-S
So why do we all keep using our hard earned money, when specs really don't change that much from one model to the next...??

For me it's a combo of the media and a desire to have the latest and greatest.
My previous phone, which I still use regularly as a work phone, was the Motorola Atrix. It was a beast of a phone and combing it with a lapdock made it a blast to use. But, when my gf upgraded her phone from a Samsung Focus to the SGIII, I felt dated, like my Atrix with its smaller screen, older processors, and older OS was insufficient. So to erase that feeling I purchased the HOX+.
The reason I selected this phone was because of the commercial HTC was running with the business man and the voice over guy who was boasting the phone's upgraded specs. I found the commercial to be very clean and crisp which led me to believe their phone would be as such. I've also had good experience in the past with HTC having owned the Tilt and Tilt II.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
It's something I've never understood either, because the majority of folk (me included) will never use them to their full potential....some just feel the need to have the latest, infact when I got this one (One x Plus) about a week after I had I though, just what the hell do I need this for
For me it's definitely about wanting the latest and greatest. And also i usually MAKE money after upgrading. Every year I get a partial upgrade which costs me ~200$ for the newest phone, then I flip my old phone, which is usually only about a year old, on eBay for 250-400$. So in the end a make a few dollar AND have the latest. To me it seems foolish not to upgrade. I "need" a cell phone anyway, so extending my contract doesn't bother me, especially since contracts seem to be getting crappier. My current contract is better then anything AT&T is offering now.
I'm kind of the opposite. My first Android phone was the OG and I had that through my entire contract. The advances made in smartphone tech in the two years after the OG was introduced was substantial. Next I got the GNex when it first came out. I would have actually kept it but my new employer offered to provide me with a phone and pay the bill so it would have been dumb for me to stick with Verizon and the GNex just to stick with a phone that I'm entirely happy with.
And now here I sit with the HOX+. Have to say I'm more impressed with HTC's build than I was with the Samsung.

It gets hot, that's true (and kinda strange.... )
The camera isn't that bad (and absolutely enough for the use you're gonna do of it, e.g. posting photos on FB)
If you are looking for similar sized phones you can consider the GSIII Mini, considering the fact that it hasn't got Sense customization, and for a HTC user it can be kinda disappointing (I used to have a Wildfire S, when I bought a Xperia go I was so disappointed of sony customized UI that I replaced it with the Desire X)
Just a thing... please improve your english..

I'd recommend it if you can get it for £180.
However if you're willing to go for a few quid extra I'd go for the GSIII Mini or a little bit more than that you could get a Nexus 4...
As Matyt said, the device gets hot and it gets pretty annoying and unpleasant.
We have received updates for this device, and most users now have a Jelly Bean update.
Moreover our device gets the Linux 3.4 kernel with Jelly Bean meaning we'll be able to run the next few releases of Android on our phone whether it's officially or unofficially.
We have lots of progress on the AOSP ROMs front as well, with CM9 almost fully working and CM10.1 in the works.
In terms of developer support, you can't go wrong with the DX
Thanks for your advice im geting more tempted to get the desire x now do you think there is a way to fix the overheating and do yuou think this could shorten its life?
once i again....
if you dont have too much money and want a nice - cool , fast phone...not in a shoe size...you better buy it!!!!
it gets hot but not in critical points....
for the money you will pay you will get a very good phone
and lately a lot of developers are working on our phone...so we will get jb roms aosp and others..which will make our phone twice faster
from what you ask...this phone suits you!! A LOTTT

- no digital compass
- no 720p video recording (although playback is possible)
But dont forget the positive things:
- fast processor
- Good camera lens and low light snapshots
- HTC Sense (although lite version)
- Ram is higher
- Screen colour reproduciton is v good. (although not very bright)
- HTC Sense
- JellyBean (Upcoming in some regions - Damn you HTC)
- Light and beautiful design.
I agree with neXus PRIME. I havent had the issue of the phone overheating.
The phone is absolutely amazing in my honest opinion. Except for the front camera and htc full sense. Although i would advice you to check this link regarding the white noise (hiss sound) on some of our Desire X.
But that has never annoyed me at all as i barely noticed it. And after some search on Google, the white noise seems to be a problem or some kind of sacrifice introduced on almost all mobile devices to compensate and even out other weird sounds. I think there is a video regarding this which is on one of the pages on that link thread.
There is nothing else to disregard Desire X as an awesome and handy and comfortable device for those of us keen on getting a quality phone within a budget.
And once again if you want to compensate for all the con points neXus PRIME has first mentioned in the above thread, then by all means buy a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini.
I have come from a Wildfire to the Desire x.
The perfect move.
The DX camera is 10x netter than the Wildfire
I am glad i Made the move.

Sorry about the English but i am dyslexic. i like my wildfire but i was disappointed with the lack of updates and a friend put it on cyanogen and its never worked right since so I'm going to update but i never liked the Sony phones my friend has just got the desire c and its a nice phone but i don't want to just go out and buy the desire x and end up with a phone that I'm not 100% happy with like the wildfire
Thanks for your help

It important that you are 100% happy with your purchase...my advice go with your heart.
the Desire X is a nice phone has everything that you need and will receive updates for at least 4.X(not sure about official but surely unofficially).
about the heating that can usually happen due to prolonged usage at high frequency of the processor(our default governor is performance hence the reason slow down scaling and rapid fire upscaling).
this can be fixed by moving to interactive governor(better ratio of scaling) or/and changing the scaling governor to conservative.
though this problem might persist if you play games/use apps that have a high processor demand(usually very graphic intensive).
there so my suggestion is to look for a device that has the following points.
1.confirmed jb update(this gives it a better chance of getting 4.x future updates).
2.Strong developer comunity.
3.possible working method for rooting.
4.custom recoveries.
5.good specs vs price ratio.
for me the Desire X ticks all these boxes.
but in the end the choice is yours.
Good Luck,
Dark Passenger
The phone is far better with the JB update, from my own anecdotal experience. I was unhappy with it on ICS. I'm still not impressed with Sense Lite that we were burdend with, and had I known about it at the time I would have opted for another device.
There are many positives about the phone, it is very cheap and it works OK for the price. If I had more money I would go for a Nexus 4 though.
The other reviews above are good, but I'd add in the actual handset is not very comfortable in your hands, especially for extended periods, and the screen feels less responsive than the one on the old Desire (Bravo). It is very plasticy and the back cover feels very cheapo and fragile.
It's a grand Android phone, it costs next to nothing (comparatively) but the performance is fairly low end and there's an air of cheapness to the whole thing. My Nexus 4, GS3 and other devices feel far superior (though to be fair they are). My One X JB update slowed down some fairly basic functionality for me and I really didn't like it after it updated. I've a concern that HTC are rushing software or it is too fragmented for them to release solid ROMs for their devices.
I use the DX as my day to day out and about phone and it works fine for the most part. There's nothign major wrong with it, just a lot of little niggles here and there. Some of which were fixed with JB update!
If you want a very cheap phone for basic surfing, facebook etc and won't be installing any particularly big games you'll be fine with this device.
I went to get the desire X on sataday and was told by the shop that they do not keep them in stock as they are such a bad phone that they nobody wanted them but from what you guys said it sounds like hes talking out of his ass

i never do i sent a nice email to there head office saying how there staff ignored evreyone in the shop untill they all waked out then when i came back an hr later the palce was empty and then was told its a rubish phone but you guys on here seem to be loving the thing so im just looking for somewhere elce to buy it from but there isnt any other place i can find that sells it so i may have to bite the bullet and buy it from them
Personally, i hate the phone. I regret buying it everyday. Hell, even my old Galaxy S was a lot better then this piece of crap. Don't recommend buying it.
I find it Amazing that some people take so much effort and time to come onto a forum and talk rubbish.
You can go onto virtually any forum, IPHONE, Galaxy 3 and 4 forums, you will always get people there with problems, mostly user related.
You also get the chops who also go onto the various forums and say this phone is the biggest rubbish just for the kick of it.
To the one who bought this product, surely you dont compare it to Top of the range Galaxy, Sony or Iphone.
Compare apples with apples.
The Desire X fits into its own market, It delivers just what is expected of it . Accept that or buy another phone that will suit your needs.

'Delivers what is expected of it' Yeah because when we spend $300 on a phone we all expect a software update that will break one of the phone's main selling points.

This is not, hate desire x forum. I like dislike a lot of things. But this phone ISN'T crap. I've tested many equally costing devices from others and they can be called crap. Let us all stay on topic. Our frustration with jelly bean update n bugs shouldn't make us so narrow minded so as to neglect all the good things about it.
Peace.
