Hello
Y I can't change my cpu frequency ?
I tried tons of apps all give me maximum 1.3 ghz
I'm on stock 4.2.2 hox+ rooted
Screenshots attached

Any suggestions ?

Stock Sense roms have some kind of a lock on CPU frequencies . With powersave ON you get 1.3Ghz maximum with only one core. And the minimum is not actually 1.3 as many apps would show (check out cpu spy and have a look at the frequencies your cpu used)

I ran qualcomms newest benchmark tool for web browsing , and under system information I noted the description of the two cores. It read :
Cores: 2
Core 1: max freq 1188 min freq198, governor
Core 2: max freq 0 min freq 0, governor.
I know our our cores are asynchronous, but shouldn't a clock speed be read? I'm just curious what this means as I am not technically inclined.
I cannot upload the app but it's in the market under Vellamo.

what was the point of posting that? Doesn't actually say anything conclusive or useful
I just discovered for myself the CPU utility shows max CPU frequency as 1188MHZ. Is there something wrong with my CPU or is it ROM Toolbox's fault?
Thanks!

I use ROM toolbox a well for many thing including cpu speed... For me I'm can go all the way to 1.89 ghz.... Have you governed the cpu elsewhere? Also what ROM u using? I'm on aokp

the max that the rom toolbox sliders will go depends on the kernel you are using. Run and oc kernel and you can safely run at 1.86.

Did u set the cpu in rom toolbox and settings/performance/cpu? If u set both depending on the rom/kernel ya might have some weirdness.
Been using rom toolbox for almost a year, or whenever sasibob did her review on the main portal. The apps solid.

Thanks for your responses, guys. I was on Gingerbread stock. Now I'm on ICS stock and it goes all the way to 1500. Pardon my ignorance, what's oc kernel?
Overclockable...
Meaning there would be options higher than 1.5 .. And the frequency options would depend on the modules put in by the dev
Hey guys, i have the SGS3 i9300, with Omega ROM v31.1 JB and SiyahKernel S3-v1.7rc3
Why is AnTuTu Benchmark showing me that my CPU is running at 1800 MHz ? I diidn't overclock it and everything is on default.
did u check Stweaks just incase the cpu is set to run at 1800mhz
sent.
yea... everything is set to default. I didn't change anything in sTweaks beside the Audio settings.
Is there any other program to check the cpu speed?

You can try set cpu or no frills cpu

I tried No-frills CPU Control and this is what it shows me...hmm
this is max cghz of your proccessor. Usually kernel doesnt set max freq, but it reports that is phone capable of 1.8 ghz

Ok then so it means that my phone is running at 1.4 GHz but it can be overclocked up to 1.8 GHz?

Yes but at your risk .

Ok then, i don't want to overclock it at all, default speed is more than enough, i was just wondering why antutu showed my cpu speed at 1.8GHz
Thank you for your help.
Question answered, problem solved. This Thread cand be closed now.

Title says it all. What's The Best CPU Clock Speed for Daily Use? At the moment I'm at 1.2GHz by the way. By best I mean highest without burning out ect. Cheers in advance.
Noone will be able to tell you what the best speed for your processor is because of the variations between processors even in the same batch. Besides, define "best"? What's best for you? The most stable? The quickest? In computer industry overclockers follow this rule - keep overclocking until the processor starts to fail, then either overwolt and make it stable or decrease the frequency slightly. Extreme overclocking involves extreme overwolting and pushing your proc. to the highest frequency it can possibly go. Different processors can handle different speeds because of the slight variations in them. Whenever you overclock you should remember that you are shortening the live of your processor and the more you overclock, the more you do it, due to the process called electromigration, your processor will gradually start to "leak" current.
i made 2 profiles.. use 1.5 ghz for games and surfing and 1.2 ghz when i use for playing videos or music..

Im using 1.5 Ghz @ 1.3V ( stock voltage) . Runs just fine , get about 2500 points in quadrant and fairly good battery life .
For those, who only uses the music function could go this way:
Set with antutu min 100 mhz max 200 mhz and ondemandx or interactivex governor. Battery life should be very nice. Poweramp was a battery drainer, but since 4 months of using this setup Pamp only uses 2-3% per hour. Battery life @standby is also better.
How do you guys make it to 1.5Ghz?
Im using Chips 1.5 and RJ's kernel..
using setcpu and no frills i can set it to 1.2Ghz..and cant go beyond that as there are no other options..
i've also used tegrak (not the ultimate version) and still the same..
I'd greatly appreciate if someone could help..
thanks in advance!
You guys use some high clock speeds lol. For music and videos you can get away with 200 mhz min to 400 mhz max and have no issues. Web surfing I keep both a 400 mhz and for gaming (like snes and genesis emulator no 3d ) I use 400mhz min to 800mhz max. I use smartassV2 or ondemamd for the governor.

tried that and it lags or stutters when it goes to deep sleep the lowest I'd go for the min and max is 200 but you see some noticable slowdown lol

u must use ultimate version of tegrak..i use 1.5 ghz on 1310 mv core and internal 1125mv ..that is just tiny more then stock voltage (1300 and 1100) so i get veru good speed and good batery life...and i dont now how u use player on such low fq and so very slow speed and heavy lag..i use mine on 1.5 ghz and it gets all day no probem and i fill him when i go to sleep..

For which device?

Can anyone get Nova 3 with Chainfire going smooth with like 1.6GHz?
for 5.0 but I think I could do it for other devices as well.
It was smooth for me w/o chainfire with standard 4.04 kernel for our device

During the installation of the viper3D (275) ROM I can choose between clockspeeds (I'm using the synergy ROM atm so I know I can overclock it to 1,7ghz and still be stable) the gout clock can be raises to 320, is this safe? And as last what is the difference between ROM controlled overclocking and kernel controlled overclocking?

Overclocking is all in the kernel. The GPU clock speed (the one you're referring to at 320mhz) is the graphics processor, technically its not being overclocked, its being brought back up to the Qualcomm default speed

I would suggest you dont go anywhere near 1.4 ghz....All other setting....leave it at htc default...Vsync=off and the last option..make sure you choose.Rom MAnage cpu clock or something.......i forget the words...i met trouble letting kernel manage the cpu clock....
