[Q] GPS won't work Note II Verizon - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

My Verizon Galaxy Note II GPS will not lock in on my position or track with me when I move. I first noticed it when I was using JediX14 so I tried JediX17 which also didn't fix it. I am no on CleanROM ACE 5.0.0 and still my GPS does not work. I tried the TopNTP 1.0.0 app to make a new gps.conf but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if I missed a thread that already has a resolution to this issue.

I am on Jedix17 right now and having the same issue. I remember I had a really old version of jedi x before this and the gps worked to some extent. I know it's an issue with the rom because my phone is literally brand new through insurance. So yeah I would like to get an answer as well

First, this is posted in the wrong section. Second, I swear I read this same question every day. Please read a little before just saying my GPS doesn't work.
Flash beans rom. Load it up and get a GPS lock, then boot directly to recovery, flash whatever rom you want.
EDIT: Third, don't post the same question twice, especially within 15 mins of the first post.

Try using the cleanrom meant for VZW, the ace version is known to have gps issues. Also I've read beans and jedi users having trouble with gps locking as well, although some managed to get it working with a "fix". I haven't tried beans and jedi because cleanrom VZW works I wish I could remember what you need to do to get gps working.

Also, for the most part, GPS doesn't work on International ROMs after the latest update. This issue is widely known and has been brought up a lot in that ROMs thread.

Beans is built from the VZW ota. I've never had issues and haven't heard of anyone having issues with GPS on beans. Although you are correct that jedi is known for GPS lock issues.

Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it! I ended up flashing beans and I have no GPS issues. Now I keep getting a notification letting me know version v. 0.2.0 is available but when I click to download it says "There was an error in the file downloaded". Have you ever had this problem with beans internal upgrade?

With beans you should be on 0.2.1 which is build 21.

Ive tried about every fix known, that i know, to get a gps lock on Jedi. That and Clean ROM are the only two ive ever had trouble with. Terrific ROMs, but i gotta have gps working. If anyone finds a universal fix i would love to know it.

All you have to do, or at least all I have ever had to do, is get a working lock on any rom (I go back to stock), then flash the problem rom. Even with system and cache wipes, it hasn't failed me yet.

[Q] HTC Droid DNA (Bluetooth NOT Turning On)

If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated, this is my situation. Yesterday I unlocked my DNA and installed MyComputerDoctor via CWM Recovery and installing the .zip. Aside from that the only thing I did was the 4.5 One X [Camera MoD]. Now Bluetooth toggles, says "Turning On," but doesn't actually do so. Any thoughts?
I can confirm mine is also doing this on Genome 1.0 (which I assume was what you flashed as well). Seems like a bug with the rom.

Damn this is a real pain in the ass. So if I really really need the bluetooth function I would have to revert back to stock? Anyone in the community see any fixes or any threads with people discussing this matter?
PS. "FWIW, Bluetooth works in UDK DNA? What's that mean? Another ROM? Sorry still new to the Android Unlocking/Rooting/MOD Game.

has anyone flashed the radio from the ATT Skyrocket jelly bean leak?

I'm a little scared to be the Guinea pig, wondering if anyone has tried it. I'm wondering if it would help battery life and signal issues with cm10.
Damn no brave souls? My phone has a warranty so maybe I'll risk it.
The RIL libraries are likely not compatible with your non-JB Rom, but you should still have the ICS RIL's on board anyway...unless you are running a JB variant build.
That said, you might see drop outs on service occasionally........but it should'nt damage anything.....g
I'm running cm10 so it is jelly bean.

I wouldn't even knowingly attempt another phone's ROM at all.
So I flashed it and it booted up fine and everything worked. Then I got a sleep of death. I rebooted it and it would lock up on the lock screen. I rebooted several times with the same results. I had to reflash the old modem to get it to stop locking up. Oh well was worth a shot.

Its very common to use other modems. All the matters is that the modem chipset is the same.
It comes as an option with the CvD-Nibbles ROM (in the AROMA package installer under custom)
I flashed it without a problem, worked great for the 5 hours before I flashed the king kangers one .12 kernel, then it was unrecognized. (Probably could've reflashed it but haven't had the time yet as this was last night)

And you said to search around? I did make a backup but won't that take me off CM10? I have been searching but all I can find are guides for old ass phones from years ago.

Most likely you've flashed a rom that wasn't made for our VZW variant which in the process has changed your kernel. Try restoring your backup.

There is not yet a CM10 build for the Verizon variant of the note 2. You jumped the gun on this. The only note 2 CM10 build on the get.cm site is for the international version. If that's what you flashed then that easily explains your activation problem. Restore your backup and wait for someone to put out a CM10 build specifically for this device.

Well what a damn shame. CM10 is one slick rom. I'm a total noob to this whole thing and had no idea that roms must be made to fit specific carriers. Oh well, bye bye CM10 it is :crying:. Restoring now.

To the OP: Restart and clear cache. If that doesn't work try to go to Airplane mode for a minute or so then turn it off. The post says it might take a bit to get data. I have not flashed the Alpha CM build so I'm sorry I can't help much.

Yeah the ROOTing, Unlocking bootloader, and flashing ROMs has become a mess. Too many news websites pick up on these initial XDA announcements and then floods of people come who have no idea what they are doing. I have been doing custom ROMs for the last 2 years and I still feel hesitant with the Note 2 since the development is not there yet and everything seems unclear at the moment.

You do realize that he posted this thread BEFORE the alpha build was posted here don't you? I'm guessing not, so maybe you should pay attention to time stamps before yelling at other people. This is why I stated there wasn't a public build available yet, as sbrissen hadn't yet posted it for everyone.

Not Sure, but i can check it out, thanks for the heads up!
I have a question on something I don't fully understand.
I had RL7 for one night and LOVED it - until it rebooted and soft-bricked.
I found my way back out of that and flashed RLS8 and have it completely set up exactly perfect, however, random apps make my phone quit responding and some will error and say the app has crashed and needs to close.
So I started looking and the very first thing I saw was RLS8.1 is now out, checked the changelog and it looks like it fixes a bunch of issues, some of which I had been experiencing.
One thing that I just noticed though, is that it's built on ME7. I just checked and double-checked my About, and RLS8 is clearly on MDK.
So my question is really straightforward: If I flash to RLS8.1 which is built on ME7, is there a way back to any MDK ROM afterwards?
I'm not about to take a ROM in the ME7 line if it means that I will lose the recovery I currently use (TWRP 2.5) - and especially if there's no way back from ME7 to MDK.
Please clarify for me!
Thank you sbreen, for all the work you've done on this ROM - this is the first ROM I've put on my S4 since I got it - I did nothing more than root the day I purchased it a couple months ago waiting for something like Hyperdrive offers, and I have to say that so far, I've been impressed with it's speed and customization!
Thanks again!

If you want to you can flash to an MDK based Rom after flashing Hyperdrive. The thing to be concerned about when talking about ME7 is not the Rom per say but the bootloader lock out that the OTA has. Flashing a Rom (especially pre-rooted ad 99. 9% are if not 100) does not touch your bootloader so there is no worry about losing custom recovery or root flashing an ME7 based Rom like RLS8

I paid for FEDEX overnight shipping to the repair facility and FEDEX overnight saturday delivery to return it and I have been sitting here all weekend trying to get it back up.The guy who fixed it installed an app (TWRP) I have never seen or used and never told me what it was or what to do with it and he didn't return my calls or emails over the weekend to let me know if it was safe to use it with a custom ROM. I had to search all weekend to find out exactly what it was and how to use it. I'm sure you know how expensive that type of shipping is and to have paid all that and still not have my pohone up on Monday morning was a waste of money.
Thanks so much for the help here. I will be more carefull looking at links from now on.

Rudy,
Thanks again. I am downloading the ROM now, although it's slow and will take 30+ minutes. I have a question. I see that some of these ROMS have the ability to accept OTA updates?
My phone specs are
Verizon Galaxy Note II
Android 4.1.1
I605VRALJB
BUILD # JRO03C.I605VRALJB
I don't want my phone to take any updates EVER!
Can I prevent that from happening?
Do you know what I need to do to accomplish that?
Does Scott's ROM's block OTA updates?
It seems he has discontinued support for the Note II and I 'm not really that good with this and I don't want to have my phone get updated and get locked out again. I just spent a lot of money to get it back to v4.1.1
Thanks for any help with this and thanks again for helping me with the download issue!

Hey Tom,
Any custom rom usually has OTA's from Verizon blocked, Scott's included. The download speed you are experiencing is normal.
When roms say they have OTA capability, it usually means that they have the ability to send their own updates via OTA.
Hope that helps. Also, this thread isn't in the right location--you'd be posting to Q&A or general for this type of question.
Anyway, let me know if you need anything else. Have a great day
I just wanted to thank everyone for their help! I now have Scott's Note II ROM on my phone and it's working great!
I do have one problem though. Somehow I managed to change the keyboard where I type text messages and now it doesn't show the keyboard, but has a writing board or whatever it's called and I can't figure out how to get the qwerty keyboard back? It's a screen where the keys would normally be but you can use your finger or a stylus I guess to write or draw. Can anyone advise me how I get it back to normal?
Thanks again to all!

Never mind, I figured it out! Doh!
I also throw out there that gas dies eventually on this rom. If you check the thread, it has happened to a lot of people including my wife's.

Ok thanks.
I am noticing that the radio seems to be a little weaker. Is that my imagination?
I would go with something newer that is still supported Krowley's smooth rom would be a good place to start.

I also see that what I thought was a defect in the manufacturer's ROM is still occurring in Scott's ROM That's when you have a phone call and you hang up and then it starts playing audio files that you have on your phone. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to stop it?
Thanks

I don't remember that on cleanrom, but it's based on international firmware so there were common issues with a lot of people concerning GPS. Seriously, there's some great roms that are based on Verizon 4.3 and soon you'll see 4.4.2. Why waste your time with a 4.1.2 rom? Like I said smooth rom, Trents rom is excellent, as well as some more feature packed roms that are awesome but may be overwhelming for you at this point. See what's near the top of the list in Android development forum, pick one, and after backing it up try another.
