I have an amaze 4g and started having radio issues.. the phone currently say "Disconnected because service is unavailable" under Mobile Network and will not allow me to switch on. I believe it won't even see the sim card as it does not say "No Sim Card" anymore when the phone is booted without one. I have flashed several custom roms with 4EXT as well as the stock ICS file with no luck..
When i try and search for network operators i just get a message that says "Error while searching for networks"...
Any help would or input would be greatly appreciated as i have now spent a few days trying to get this phone to work again.

"I have had this issue twice ... first time it happened maybe 9 months ago and stayed like that for 3 weeks with me constantly flashing and wiping and s-offing no no avail ... one day I pulled out my sim and memory card and when I switched on the device it says "no simcard" it never said that b4 so I switched it off and put back in the sim card and memory card and poof it was suddenly working again...
The first time I recalled not installing anything for months before that event other than one app..... "What's App" I installed what's app and used it fine for 2 weeks and the phone just dropped in the middle of a call and never regained signal.... so I said since that was the only app that I had installed its probably the culprit, so I will never use it again since the phone started working again.
Sadly 7 months later a girl i was talking to kept insisting that I install whats app because she wants to chat more... Against my better judgement I went ahead and did it and it worked for 2 weeks and one morning .... poof "no service" no imei .... and the culprit .....? WHATS APP!!! sadly I have been in this state for a month now with no sign of it fixing itself again... thank you whatsapp... let me know if whatsapp was installed prior to your loss of imei"

My Vibrant just stopped working...
My Vibrant is unlocked (purchased code from a site) and was working fine for a week (got it 2 weeks ago). It's rooted and I flash a few roms and modems to test out what i liked. Yesterday, it decided to lose signal. I wanted a few hrs and still had no signal. I tried searching for a network. AT&T showed up and when I selected it, I got "Your sim card does not allow connection to this network". I've tried flash the modem, then the rom, and even tried restoring it with Odin. Non worked. I then tried a TMO sim and i got signal, but can't dial out...
Please help! I've search and haven't had any luck fixing it... Thanks in advance.
Usually when you flash a rom, it may wipe the folder containing your unlock code. Redo your unlock with the same code you purchase

Tired that... The Network lock is off and still the same issue.
Are you using AT&T? You may have to load AT&T network.......

Yes I'm on AT&T. What do you mean by load the network? I've been to the network/wireless settings and have the "AT&T 310 410" APN selected. When i do a network operators search, Automatically doesn't fix it. When i do a "search now", AT&T shows up and when i select that it says "Register on AT&T" and then i get the "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"

I ran into the same problem last week. My Vibrant was working in the morning, and then it gave me the same message a bit later on the day. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. I contacted TMobile and they told me it could be a bad sim. I was taken back by this, as it was working earlier in the day. I ended up going to a TMobile store and got a new sim. It worked after the new sim was inserted.
Maybe you can get a new sim with ATT.

I popped my friends AT&T SIM in and still had the same issue...
I'm thinking of just getting a prepaid SIM and testing it out. That should be the same as getting a new sim, right?

After the trouble shooting didn't work, TMobile gave me a free sim card. She noted my account and told me to go into a Tmobile store to get one.
I won't pay for a prepaid just to test it out...Can you contact ATT
I talked to AT&T yesterday too... Tech said its the phone... contact the carrier/maker of the phone... They don't really help you unless the phone is AT&T branded... guess I'm SOL and might need to just sent it to Samsung for repairs... =T
Update: I flashed everything back to stock JI6 via odin. Just tested on my friends TMO sim (he has a vibrant also). It finds the TMO network, but can't dial out. After a few min, no signal...
Im having the same issues, my phone messed up and i finally got it up and running again but now I am unable to register the sim on the network, and this happens with other sims

I have the exact same issue. I have another phone (i9000). When I put the sim card in the other phone. it works great. Vibrant can get signal sometimes, but just cannot dial out or send messages....

Unlock code
I downloaded the SGS unlock app a while back but had not done anything but get the code.
I powered off, installed a different sim and unlocked the phone. It was some left over sim that I knew would not give me service. After unlock and a failure to connect I powered off and put the working sim back in.
I had a little difficulty with getting 3G to come back up. Edge data and phone worked. I had to go and force a manual selection of t-mobile and then 3G popped up.
Then gmail and syncing died. I restored gmail gmail-storage and sync from backup with no luck. I'm not sure how I got it to come up but I got a password prompt and after entering it I got it back. I still had a sync error message under accounts and sync but not when I pressed on the gmail account. Rebooting got rid of that error and it's back up.
Not a clean swap at all. I'm not sure why gmail hurled.
The phone remains unlocked. If I get another sim I'll see if gmail still has a panic attack.
What should happen when you dial *#7.. on my vibrant it just says Mobile Network not available.
Rebooted my TBolt and when it started up it popped a big lock screen message about the SIM card not being recognized. Phone booted up rest of the way anyways, but kept popping that warning occasionally.
Rebooted again and it seems to have gone away.
Just curious if this is just a fluke or the sign of something worse to come.
Any one else seen this behavior?
Keep in mind, this is a VZW 4G sim that they installed 10 weeks ago and never had any problems with...no attempt to do anything like use some 3G AT&T SIM, etc, etc.
I noticed this behavior for the first time today, right after I rebooted as well. I immediately tried calling my Google Voice number (didn't want to try calling a friend) and it went through, so I'm not sure if the error message is valid or not.
considering this phone has some of the same insides as the hd7, that does not suprise me.
I get the error occasionally of no sim on my hd7 and reboot always makes it go away. Happened maybe 4-5 times since November.

Have you reactivated a 3g phone on your account? This voids the 4g sim.

All of sudden, my phone does not detect the SIM card anymore. I inserted another good SIM card, and get the same error. I tried to press the SIM card to ensure good contact, but not working. No problem with other function. I inspected the SIM card slot and it appears perfect. The phone has never been dropped or having liquid damage.
I did the factory reset, but could not get rid of the error. Unfortunately I just travelled to oversea...
AT&T agreed to replace the phone, but I will not have any phone on the road.
I am willing to try anything. Does not seem to be software related, but...
Anyone know how to fix the problem?

My 1717D stpped working too when I installed T-Mobile radio
I bought 1717D with Android 4.o.4 on it , Kernel 3.0.8-perf-1717DTLLF4-CL793911 and tryed to install T-Mobile modem to work with Mobilicity.Ufter this update phone doesnt recognize my SIM card any more.I Tryed all 3 modems with the same results, even though I did changed modem on two previous 1717 phones before.They were with 3.3.5. "No SIM" just happened to me. I recently updated to the official JB stock ROM & Note worked great for about ten days... then just quit and displayed the "No SIM" error message. I first tried just shutting down, removing & cleaning SIM, replacing & rebooting. Nada. Then tried different, fully charged battery. Still no go. Still at home tried a factory reset, removing SIM, clean, & reboot. Gave up and went to an AT&T kiosk. Rep set me up with a new SIM and I'm back in business for two days now. Rep was quite philosophical, "it happens sometime." Still don't know why.
My phone was working fine til the other day when I picked it up and there was no signal bars or data showing. Was running cm10 since jan. tried reboot, took out and reinserted sim, and all that. Service never came back. Checked my sim in another phone and it worked. I cleaned all inside contacts and on back cover. Reflashed few different rooms wi no success. When trying to search for network, it says error searching for networks. When I tried restarting with no sim. I didn't get any usual message stating "no sim installed." I can't find anything similar in the forums as to what's going on here. Anyone able to offer some help?

Was just casually using my Amaze today with the official CM10 I've always had on it, and all of a sudden in the middle of a call the call dropped and the phone restarted. I thought it was just a random reboot as they are nightly builds. After it restarted there all of a sudden was no signal. I was a bit confused as just a minute ago before I started the call I was getting full bars on 4G. I tried rebooting multiple times, changing SIM's (the phone is unlocked), even trying different ROMs. All of them had the same problem. No cellular signal. I tried the *#*#4636#*#* to set the network to WCDMA, however it was always stuck on "unknown". No matter what I changed it too it would always reset back to unknown. Then I finally thought I had to resort to an RUU.
After reflashing the Mobilicity RUU (stock one that came with the phone) on gingerbread, the signal FINALLY worked! I was so relieved and went to download the ICS OTA update so I can start flashing ROM's again. Then all of a sudden in the middle of the update the phone restarted, and when it booted back up again, no signal again. I then went to check for software updates again and just wanted to try downloading it over WiFi. I accidentally clicked the phone info screen instead of software updates and I noticed that the IMEI, IMEI SV, Phone Number and IMSI were all "Unknown". This was really odd. *#06* also brought up an empty IMEI box. Then I clicked software update and it said there were no updates available. What? It just worked a while ago before the signal broke again!
I then pulled the SIM out to run the phone WiFi only until I could figure this out and I noticed that it wouldn't say "No SIM" with no SIM card inserted like it normally would, but would continue to say "No Service" as if there was a SIM but there was just no reception in the area.
I've been trying all day to flash multiple RUU's and the only one that fixes the problem is reflashing factory Mobilicity GB RUU. Then signal works again, however after any restart signal will break again and won't work anymore until another RUU reflash. Is there anything I can do? This is the only phone I have to use and it's driving me nuts! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Please acknowledge that I am not asking for a way to obtain or change my IMEI, as I know that is not allowed. I am asking for a way to fix the No Service issue I've been having.

Now another thing has arises. I try to use it as an iPod/Media player now and just use it connected to WiFi. However the battery dies after about 5 hours of just standby, untouched. It's all because of "Cell Standby" using up battery. It uses up 4 and a half hours of battery and 100% of the time it's without signal. However, even if airplane mode is turned on to disable the cellular radio, it doesn't make any difference to Cell Standby.

Actually my Amaze started working again as well! One day around two weeks back all of a sudden it decided to start working again, but I just left it there as I had already bought an Xperia ion to replace it. One day my friend asked if he could borrow it for a week or so, I let him and when I popped his sim in it worked, checked imei, apns, everything was good. However later that day during the lunch hour he took it out and told me there was no signal. First thing I did obviously was check the imei and of course, it had disappeared again. Nothing in window when typing #*06# and in settings imei would say "unknown"
I never used whatsapp before and he doesn't use whatsapp either, it's never been downloaded on the phone so it's not the problem for me. If I reflash GB RUU it will work again and imei will come back BUT only until you reboot, after reboot it will lose imei again. Honestly it seems to have a mind of it's own when it comes to working or not.
I'm Having the same issue right now anyone have any ideas?

Having the same problem too!
Tried removing the sd and sim, rebooting without, reinstalling them, rebooting with, and no luck.
I'm planning to flash the Debloated Stock rom to try that, then I'll try the latest RUU, will report back... (could be a few days)
Debloated stock did not work. Latest ICS RUU did not work. Original, very first, RUU didn't appear to work until I did a restart (without the Sim inserted).
So it's working for now, although it's Gingerbread...

Really? I've tried literally every RUU available for Amaze and still nothing. Before, after flashing a gingerbread RUU the IMEI would work during the first use but would break after restarting. Now when I do any RUU, IMEI won't work under any condition.
