Hey, recently got the S3 (UK O2 version) got it rooted and flashed on custom 4.3 etc. I used to have the LG optimus 2X so the ram/cpu and gpu bump is pretty nice, was wondering if there were any interesting apps which would make good use of the S3's power? apart from a few games I can't think of much else despite being pro android

Im getting ready to buy this phone, its the Virgin Mobile US model which to me looks to be exactly like the Optimus S from sprint. I was wondering what my ROM options were using this specific model, or if that even really mattered much. I want maximum performance for games and apps but aiming for decent battery life too, maybe something that scales and only overclocks when it needs it kinda thing (ive played with SetCPU and Milestone Overclock before on a moto Defy). Any help would be appreciated.
On a sidenote, does anyone know how Rocket Bunnies runs on this phone?

Someone from android central tried cm7 for the optimus s and said it was working pretty good.
saw a phandroid post of a rom called Xionia-VM designed for the optimus V. Ill keep an eye out for that, do you guys have any experience with this?
Here's a subforum dedicated to optimus V, it may be possible to use the ROMs from Optimus S, since they're so similar, but it might be best to ask there first.
yeah from what i gather if i use Optimus S roms the home and menu buttons will be backwards and the accelerometer wont work. @[email protected]
There are 2 working ROM's so far on the Android Central Forum for Optimus V, I'm currently running Rodmius 1.1 myself. Works great. Haven't tried Xionia yet
Hi all,
out of curiosity would Android 4.0 even be possible with an LG Optimus considering the baseband T-Mobile is using for the GMS system?
Also would the hardware of the phone be enough to run ICS?
Just curios.

Thank you for the answer
the reason why I switched to 2.3 was I was under the assumption that the HTML5 Canvas element is accelerated but as it looks it is not really much faster than 2.2.2.
I develop a HTML5 game which should run on low end smart phones which is why I use an LG Optimus.
Ah well ...
I know this sounds weird but I have an old Galaxy S3 that I'm giving to my mother. It will be her first smartphone so I really don't want to complicate my life or hers. I'm also giving my father my old Optimus 4X running ICS (also his first smartphone). I'll be teaching them how to use them, and providing support, so I'd rather have them on the same Android version instead of getting "why doesn't my phone do this?" all the time. Also, last I checked, the Samsung-based JB roms for the S3 were horribly slow.
The S3 is rooted, and I have been looking at the ROM section and all I can find are JB and KK roms, no ICS. Is there any lightweight Samsung ROM (because stock Android has some issues on the S3 and I can't deal with that) based on ICS that you would recommend?
Thanks in advance

afaik ics roms on s3 do not have the sudden death fix, and therefor are not recommended. imagine what would happen if your mother's "new" phone goes off and never switches on again
so better use a jb 4.3 rom if you want it to be stock. debloated they are quite fast.

You can also get JB on your old LG device so that your mother isn't confused. It should work just fine, mainly if your parents aren't using their device at their full potential (like, if they only use it for texting, phone calls, etc, you can free up some space and get faster by uninstalling most of the unused apps). But I think too that JB has several fixes that are quite handy (like the sudden death fix).
Hello, so a couple of days ago I got a new smartphone (chinese brand) called "Mren C1", currently running Android 4.2.1 (Kernel 3.4.5) and wanted to know if I could upgrade to 4.3 JB since it's alot more interesting and as far as I heard in some cases it even performs faster on some apps. When I first heard about getting this smartphone (mom's idea) I was thinking of selling it or not even getting it at all but it's a pretty nice phone even if I've never heard of this brand called "Mren", let alone the fact that it's a chinese brand. On both AnTuTu and Quadrant I get pretty nice results (around 4000 on Quadrant and 13200-13400 on Antutu).
So, is there any possible way to upgrade this phone to Android 4.3 JB?
Thanx.
Hey guys!
Unfortunately my S4 Mini broke and until I got money to fix it, I have to use my dads old China phone. It's a Star Note 2 or something. He managed to get it rooted somehow back in the day but I don't know how or what he used. Basically I am searching for a Custom Rom to get it faster on playing some small games (nothing fancy) or better battery life. Would be awesome if someone could help!
