Formatting internal SD card? - HTC Droid DNA

Going to sell my DNA but I want to wipe it. I am first going to do the traditional wipe and re-install the ROM. Then I want to clean off the SD card. I have TWRP. If I do a wipe of just the internal sd card will it keep my system untouched so I can boot into the ROM?

Connect the phone to PC, delete all files on the phone, place stock ROM onto the phone, boot to recovery do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik) The ROM should still be in data/media. Flash it, reboot, connect to PC, delete ROM file and don't run setup.
There may be a better way but as far as I know the internal card contents won't wipe unless you explicitly choose it. If you can do that from recovery then that will work.

Wipe as normal, flash ROM, then in advanced wipe choose internal storage, swipe to wipe, done. Fresh ROM and no SD card contents.

I have'nt sold a phone in awhile but if there's any photos you don't wnat out I'd look into a way to overwrite the contents of the internal storage as well.

I have a script for that, it uses dd and writes over the entire data partition with zeroes. Takes forever, but literally zeroes out the SD card and the rest of data, so even apps or app data are gone.

I wouldn't mind using your script.

^^That's what's at the root of my gtab's /sdcard.
Also, there used to be two folders in that that I had created and are no longer there.
Here's what I was doing immediately before I noticed this:
I'm currently using TnT Lite. I need to be able to access wifi at work but my company uses EAP encryption and TnT doesn't have a setting for EAP. I decided that rather than switching roms, I would just switch settings menus (using the files found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857939).
Stupid me, I downloaded them to /sdcard2 rather than /sdcard. I booted into clockworkmod and tried to install the zip from the sdcard but clockworkmod couldn't find anything. I realized my mistake and rebooted the gtab and hooked up the usb to my pc. That's when I noticed the file corruption.
Everything still seems to work as it did before, I just don't have access to any of the files that were in those folders.
In case it matters, one folder held the TnT Lite rom and the other held several videos.
Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this?
Should I try to delete the corrupted files?
Any help with this is much appreciated.
I don't claim to know why this happens this is just what I did to fix my problem.
I noticed this on my gtab also, to the point my cal program wouldn't open. The only way I could fix it was to do an sd partition to it fix the issue. There are instructions on how to do that with cm8. This is from memory so please double check, go to the advanced options choose sd partition 2048/0. Please note that this wipes the sd card so back up prior.
I still get a few of those weird files buy not like before.
same thing happened to me but hasn't come back after
re-partitioning with cwm ... maybe that is the fix
I would *really* like to know why this happens (that and why
the sdcard2 gets wiped out sometimes).
Basically, you dare not trust android with any important data
and you never know if what's on it will disappear suddenly
Unfortunately, this makes the tablet just a toy
So is the best option really just to re-partition the sd card?
If I end up re-partitioning, will I have to flash the ROM over again? Or does partitioning just remove the user data?
Quote: will I have to flash the ROM over again?
No

[QUESTION][GalaxyS2] Questions/Help with internal memory, customized ROM, "true" fact

[QUESTION][GalaxyS2] Questions/Help with internal memory, customized ROM, "true" fact
(1) I need to completely wipe, remove, restore my phone to absolute stock. I am having some weird issues and want a "clean slate" to work off of. I currently have AJK (with custom initd and extweeks), cwm recovery, and cyanogen installed. I want all of it removed and want to start from scratch. What's the best way to accomplish this?
(2) upon completing Q1; I have a very small internal phone memory, somewhere around 1/2gb but I have a 32gb SDcard -- is it possible to format my SDcard to allow it to be used as "phone memory" so I can have more apps installed? I know there is the "move to SD" options, but this is not what I am looking for since this does not work for widget apps. Also I have a difficult time downloading apps without getting the "insufficient space" error via the play store during app installs.
I am so tired of having to uninstall apps just to install or test new ones. There has got to be a way to use my SDcard as phone memory
I have:
- 100mb out of 1.97gb on Internal Storage (/system)
- 7.82gb out of 11.36gb on Internal Storage (/sdcard0)
- 14.84gb out of 29.32 on SD Card (/sdcard1)

}
So even if I could combine /system and /sdcard0 to become /system and only have 1 sdcard partition would suffice
(3) is it possible to customize/package CyanogenMod to install NovaLauncher (remove/replacing Trebuch) and SwiftKeyboard (instead of AOSP keyboard), amongst other apps (I have the .apk files) so they are installed by default? Also removing apps like Apollo and DSPmanager.
(4) what are some custom scripts, init.d, extweeks, etc you guys are using that I should look into using to get the best performance, battery life, speeds out of the GS2?

[Q] Storage Space Running Out/tried everything

My wifes device is stock/rooted. I've tried moving all the apps to the SD card that I can but it's still showing 4.16GB of apps in internal storage. What can I do to fix this and get everything on the SD card that I can? I have tried Link2SD but it only moves somethings. I just want all user apps, downloads and pictures to default to the SD card.
So, does anyone know how to moved everything to the SD card and make it the default storage location?
5.0.2 does not allow moving everything to SD card like previous versions. You can only move the main app, but all data still needs to be on internal. I had the same issue. I tried updating some apps the other day, and got the error of not enough space, so the only option was to uninstall some apps I hardly used. I'm back up to around 1.2 free. Another thing to do is clear cache a lot. I free up around 400MB each clean. I use two apps for that, and both work great. Apps2SD has more features, and you have to enable the cache clean notification in settings. Cache Cleaner does just that. You can even use CCleaner to see if there are orphaned files/folder that can take up needed space.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.cache.cleaner
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.piriform.ccleaner
I just learned that I have the same problem: I moved several apps to the SD card and it's still showing that I have 1 GB of free space. However, when I check which apps I have in the SD card, link2sd shows that nothing's in external memory. Please check the images I attached to this post. The first one shows which apps I supposedly have in the SD card. The other image says otherwise.

I think this is because the device is rooted, I've heard xt1527 model has some issues with root binaries...

Nearly 1 GB of unknown data appears and I don't know how to get rid of it

Hello all, I need some help.
First of all, my phone is set up with adoptable storage. Before any problems, I had around 3.75 GB used out of 5.51 GB in my phone's Internal Storage. I wanted to migrate data from my SD Card to the phone's actual Internal Storage, so I could format and use the SD card on another phone. I tapped "Migrate data," but it was unsuccessful due to there being not enough space. My phone says "Data left at original location" if I recall correctly. But then the Internal Storage gets nearly full at 5.49 GB used, while all the data still persists in the SD card, unchanged. I've tried multiple reboots, clearing cache and davlink twice, and even deleting many other apps in hopes of updating the storage count, but nothing helped at all. What can I do? Thanks in advance.

Use an app called Storage Analyser. It will help you easily identify which file taking how much size. It is very powerful tool and Plots out the storage structure of your devices internal External and System partitions.
Hit Thanks if helped

Thanks, but it did not help, sadly. I think what happened is that some data from the SD Card was copied over to the Internal Storage when I did the migration, but when it failed, it simply left the copy on the Internal Storage rather than deleting it.

Cant take full backup from TWRP

Hi, I have mate 10 lite: RNE-L21C185B142 with Nougat
I have flashed various TWRP files to get a full backup, but all fail at data, check the following screenshot
createTarkFork() process ended with ERROR: 255

I have used an external hard drive as the OTG storage when I tried backup, and also tried another time
with a 32 GB SD card but both show same error at same point. There is no addon.d in my system folder
and also I have tried with enabling/disabling compression when taking backup. And I did unchecked data partition
from Mount in TWRP.
When I go to reboot it shows another error at the end of above screenshot in red color:
E:Error making /data/app/me.twrp.twrpapp-1 directory: permission denied
I have attached both recovery logs. Please suggest what shall I do
It's because of encrypted data, you have to untick data
It also happened to me. It was the twin app's fault. I deactivated it and now it does not give me this error.

Answer already given... It's because of encrypted data...
For details you can look at this post...

Remember... Make always a backup of your important datas from internal storage to an external SD Card or to your PC
