Can someone explain me this one..after I flash the arhd 8.0 sense 5..my battery drains dramaticallyinsanely fast..when I saw the log of my currentwidget..the may is extremelyhigh..
I've tried bother ARHD and Insertcoins Sense 5 roms, both appear to drain my battery much quicker than any other rom I've used (using same apps etc). I've ditched them and gone back to Cyanogen rom.
Anyone else finding crummy battery life with Sense 5?
Right!

Absolutely (!), just wondered, if someone else has this "problem". In direct comparison to any other Sense 4+ Base, on all Sense 5 Roms (ARHD, Insertcoin, ...) i usually get a worse battery drain... It would be interesting, how the Stock-Rom does, but usually you know it "should" be even worse than custom...
I have the same problem with Sense 5 on HOX+.
My battery drains like 50% faster then when i had Sense 4+.
What i wonder, i updated my firmware to hboot 1.72.000 and the radio combined in that package. (3.1204.171.33)
Before that i had ARHD 7 with Sense 4+ and radio 1.35.000 with the radio that comes with that.
I notice people saying in different topics that their batterylife has increased.
Do these people maybe have Sense 5 installed with the older firmware?
I have exact the same apps installed on Sense 5 then i had with Sense 4.
I did full wipes, reinstalled the firmware for sense 5 again. Installed ARHD 8 without the tweaks. Installed other Sense 5 ROMs but still the same.
Im about to go back to the ARHD7 and older firmware because i know with that it worked oke.
Few days ago i also noticed some screen flickering, wich is stranged because i have the same radio in hboot as in the ROM.
I hope someone can find a sollution for this.
Maybe Sense 5 with older firmware and hboot 1.35.000 is a sollution, i havent tried that yet.
Edit: To the poster above me, i used the stock ROM from the dump with the new radio and hboot, same bad batterylife.
Aside from trying different firmware, anyone else found ways to improve the battery life on the Sense 5 roms?
Yes. Check your Apps...
My Battery Drain is horrible good
Apps are the same as before, settings the same etc.
2 friends of mine have stock ROM and also say it drains like 30 to 50% faster.
Notechis what firmware do you use?

1.40 with ARHD
But keep in mind, if you have blinkfeed or other stuff enable and much friends it have to sync quite often, which cause more drain

I don't have blinkfeed enabled, everything in apps and sync is exactly the same as ARHD 7.
Thanks! I have a feeling it could be something to do with firmware.

Ow yeah forgot about that.
I've been running the latest Insertcoin release for the last six hours. Clean wipe and install. Battery is draining pretty fast, worryingly it drains pretty fast when the phone is not being used (in sleep). I am using the same apps as I use with either Sense 4 or lately aosp+ (non-Sense), where the battery life is much better.
In fact I was getting battery drain with no apps at all install, other than the ones that come with the rom itself. I've tried Insertcoin, arhd 8 and Elegancia. I am assuming therefore the problem is with the base/kernel that these roms are built from. If so, a poor deal from HTC.

HTC one X - Sense 5 update - Dramatic Battery Drain - found something!
Hello,
I'm using a stock HTC one X ( No custom rom or anything ) and have updated to Sense 5 recently.
Realised that the battery usage was so high that phone would almost go 12 to 14 hours on battery.
Previous Sense was over a day!
Checked a lot of apps, even tried factory reset.. But no change.
Then I switched off the location services ( Settings -> Location -> Google location services )
And now battery life back to normal.
However, I cannot use the weather app anymore because of no location.
But Navigation and everything is working just fine.
The reason I turned it off was the disclaimer saying " Allows google's location services to collect location data. Collection will occur even when no apps are running. Your location data will be kept private "
So the this thing is uploading the location data in real time or what ??? The hell of a battery drain.
Possibly the roms u use are draining because of this.
Just a feedback.

I've always had Google's location services turned off and I haven't noticed a change in battery life after updating to Sense 5 Android 4.2.2. I run stock, both before and after.

Oh Ok. Perhaps that's why you didn't experience battery change
To put it simple in my scenario ;
Google Location off :
-Sense 4.2.2 ( over a day battery life )
-Sense 5 ( over a day battery life )
Google Location on:
-Sense 4.2.2 ( over a day battery life )
-Sense 5 ( around 14 hours of battery life )
Anyways it was just a feedback ( that resolved my issue ) to the ones out there.
Cheers.

I have problem at the begining. After i asking my big brother use htc one.. that make me sense..
The problem is.. if u all use all type blinkfeed. Exmple.: facebook.twitter.myspace all them. At list..
The more u all put type at blink feed. The more u need consume power...
Sensen 5 still not balance at blinkfeed section.
All u need do just off all ur blink feed or chose one of them wht u alway use..
My recomendce not us att just us blink feed as u gellry or u note.task that should enough..
Well if u all wan save ur bettry life like sense 4.. off the blink feed or clear all type at blink feed..make empty blinkfeed..u can try this.
I alrdy use this way..
Back normal..
No need angry.or hate sense 5 coz all sense type gen. Very nice more smooth then sense 4.. pls tell other.this is ur save ur life bettry..

Dear Users
I have the XEWK7 SGS2 Rooted Stock Rom, Ive removed most of the nonsense software, and got the basics only. I have also removed TW Launcher and set up Go Launcher. Simply because it is a lot faster and better. Ive done something to slow it down, and decrease battery life, and thus before I restore it to the SGS2 rm, I decided to try other roms, like the lightening rom, can anyone suggest if this will be conducive or adverse to my settings now?
Thanks.
Flashing a new ROM will be the same as factory resetting it (but obviously with a different ROM), so your current setup will be gone and is therefore irrelevant, or am I not understanding your question?
I am reading it the same .Files gone .
Or is the question >> Are other roms better than your own settings >> Answer is who knows .
Backup current rom and you can always flash it back .
jje
Incidentally, I can't comment on any of the ROMs cos I'm still on stock - all I've done is rooted it. But I can say for sure that I wouldn't bother trying to make this thing faster as it's ridiculously fast already!
If you did something to slow it down then maybe try freezing apps 1-by-1 until you find out what the problem is.
thye main problem is battery drain. Ive removed bloatware, no gps, no 3g, no wifi, bluetoot, brightness at 10% and running mail sync with news and weather. my battery isfinished in 9 hrs without much calling. I need the dam thing to last atleast 15-18 hrs. Im also using 1800mah batteries.

I had same thing using google maps with gps (as car navigation) but this is the only case. Idle it acts normal.
Taskiller self can take very much battery and make phone hoter. I really dont see + for using them. You need just check battery menu which app take so much battery and then we can help you more.

Taskkiller itself is not running in background. i use it sometimes to look which app are running in background and to kill the ones i dont need. The problem is the battery status is looking normal. Display 33% phone 19% and some other apps do also drain battery.... but the problem is its only getting warm when i dont use it. sometimes when its laying on my desk i pick it up and notice this. when i look at my battery then its sometimes 20% less then 10 minutes before when i checked facebook for example. for me this must be something with the firmware or not? or some hardware defect?
maybe take it to a mobile service
Did you make wipe after ICS update? Maybe its a bad configuration after the update.
Also, you can try CPU Spy in Google Play and tell us if phone is on state "deep sleep" (when you lock the phone, it should enter this state where battery drain is minimal).
Make screenshot of Battery Usage screen and post it here.
Then install BetterBatteryStats, use it for few days, then make screenshots(Partial Wakelocks, Alarms and Processes) and post these here.
I have the same problem, but I know it comes from the Exchange service. Sometime it becomes crazy and drain the battery + heat the phone.
For now, I just have disabled my Exchange account... Not really a good solution.
I have found others thread talking about this problem on other phones (all with ICS), but found no answer.
I did not made any wipe, nor before, nor after the update (from stock GB to stock ICS).
It's not very helping, I fear...
just a few senteces about my day:
The battery was loading untill 7:15 today then i went to school; my phone in silence mode and i used it for 4-5 whatsapp messeges and maybe 3 facebook checks and 1 or 2 instagram checks.
it got hot a few times again and its on 34% now. really bad i would say. on gingerbread i had like 60-80% after a half day in school with much more use.
Now i looked what drained Battery. in ics i cant take screenshot so i just write it down:
40% Facebook Calendar Sync
19% Display
10% Phone
8% STandby
6% WLAN
5% Android Core Apps
4% Facebook
4% Android OS
2% Android System
This is the first time i look at the battery drain seeing that Calendar Sync is taking so much Battery. I still believe it could be something else because before it was nearly the same without calendar sync and display on first place.
So for now i think im going for a wipe, hoping it will be better then.
i will share my experience with you asap. :good:
woah, 40% on that FB crap?
also, the system standby usage seems a bit large also.
try to wipe it, maybe flash some other ROM and see if it helped you.
a healthy battery usage would have display at 70% or so, phonecalls 15%, then all the rest.
depends on your usage tho.
but something is definetly wrong with your phone.
you said that the problem occured after you updated it,
so i think the hardware is out of the question (if the phone worked normal before the update), i'd definetly flash something there, the stock rom is useless anyways..
there are very good roms even if you have locked BL, check kamarush and the new CyanogenTimescape rom also.
keep us updated about ur problem
Cheers!

you must root first, then copy the rom to SD, reboot in CWM, and install from there. it's pretty straightforward from there on just make sure you select "locked bootloader" when prompted.
After the update from gb to ics I didn't notice a much higher battery drain. I use it like on gb and on my feelings battery lifetime stays equal to gb. I have got an unlocked bootloader but still on stock rom using rage kernel ics 3.2.

Soooo. I looke up what have drained my battery and it seems that the Xperia Facebook sync (The stock sync thats buildin in the normal firmware) have drained the battery. on GB everything worked fine. Now i deactivated the sync and the battery life is much better. It seems that my phone also stopped getting hot. But for me GB still had a better battery life. Today i woke up at 7 am (germany) and played Football Manager a few times between the lessons and in a free lesson so im at 16% battery now (should be ok because the football manager drains a lot of battery) and battery usage shows:
64% display
16% FMH 2012 (football manager)
7% Android System
5% Mobilfunk-Standby
4% Facebook
etc etc etc.
looks normal for me :good:
guys my battery life is fine now but i have freezes now... if i use my phone for whatsapp it sometimes just completely freezes. no chance to see a reaktion for any button any ideas wtf is going on there?
Battery drain that you've encountered is definitely not normal. I get about 3 days on ICS, and think that is what you should be getting as well. Crappy FB application is either bugged or broken, because you're not the first one that got their battery drained by FB calendar sync. My advice would be to remove FB calendar sync service, or disable it somehow, if you're not using it.

On the xmp with ics you have xperia facebook. its a facebook calendar, contacts etc sync by sony. This was the app draining my battery. i disabled it and now i have like 1 1/2 day battery with normal usage.
And for my problem with the freezes. i removed all bloatware i could but my phone is not rooted. i was thinking about rooting but i'm kinda new to the xmp roms and its hard to find ics ones that are working perfectly. before i had an lg p990 and i was using cm7.2. it was working like a charm.
i know how to root the xmp i saw some tutorials but im still not convinced

hello everybody
after upgrading to 4.1.1 from my provider, the battery life seems to have decreased a lot
in battery status, majority of power drain comes from android system, which i dont think is normal
has anyone observed a similar behaviour? just to know if is a problem of my phone or a problem of this sw release, before i roll back to 4.0.4
baseband version i9300budli1

Stock JB uses more battery than stock ICS. It is a known issue
Not true. Your comment is not based on fact and is thus completely meaningless, so stop misleading people.
Provide evidence, based on which Stock ROM and kernel, your own sync settings, Apps used above Stock and Battery use with BBS log output.
And whether you wiped everything or not (as this is critical).
maybe not the right place where to ask, but is there a way to roll back to stock ics without having to reinstall all applications and data? as it has been possible to upgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 without losing user data.
havent found a way so far, i have all backups, but just in case i missed something...

Doing a clean install is the first stop, then go through all your settings and check what you have enabled by default.
Also Google now uses a bit of battery due to location services, but imho it's worth it!
havent changed any setting after upgrade. afaik, google now is not enabled, and all location services are currently disabled.
still battery like sucks. one day with very scarce use of data and voice.

Wipe the lot format sdcard.
Install rom only .
Turn everything off sync wifi gps .
Charge fully and leave for about twelve hours .
Check drain it should be between 2 and 5 percent .
After adding back apps you will probably find a far higher drain = your apps not the firmware .
jje
Should be getting something like this... light use, hourly syncing etc. So about -2%/hr
JB UK (BTU) Stock rooted.
Note that it is important to charge to 100% (not 99%) at least once some time after flashing to reset the fuel gauge correctly. The battery performance (or more accurately the battery monitoring) improves over the first few days of normal use/charging.
I tested both stock ics and stock jb. And stock ics has a better battery life for me... btw if you turn off all motions and extras like smart stay you should get better battery life.
I theory jb should have better battery life than ics but I didn't noticed that.
P.s. I will post bbs stats next time i flash stock rom (probably not so soon )
If I have misleaded someone I'm sorry

I have tried SpeedROM 8.0 and been on it for more than 2 weeks, but the battery life sucks. I heard Google Now was the culprit, but I don't know how to remove it. I still suspect after removing it, the battery would still suck. No offense Eclipze, I love the ROM, but battery life is bad on it. I don't know how you get so long.
I have tried Nightmare Sense 4 and battery life was awesome, but the camera was buggy and no quick settings. I tried AOSP Nightmare by brolic and it also had awesome battery life, but camera was unfocused and not working (in a different way than sense 4). Bluetooth did not work for both of them which sucked and I tried flashing the AOSP settings, but still no hope.
I am currently on Android Revolution HD (latest version as of now). The battery life is amazing on it, but I think Nightmare Sense 4 has better battery life, but I don't know. If anyone knows please comment about which one has better battery life.
My top 3 choices as of now:
Nightmare Sense 4
AOSP Nightmare Sense 4
Android Revolution HD
What ROM do you recommend with best battery for a gamer or a person that watches videos alot?
- Energy ROM (I didn't try it yet)
- SpeedROM 9.0 Beta (I didn't try it yet)
- FourthBar
- Android Revolution HD
- Nightmare Sense 4
- AOSP Nightmare
- Other ROM you recommend?
I need data and GPS working so no CM for me
Please make sure the ROM doesn't have any multi-touch issues.
I get very good battery life on NRG ROM, about 16 to 18 hrs with 3-4 hrs of use. I keep all GPS and Google location off if I'm not actively using it, since that kills standby battery life with very frequent Google maps wakelocks.
I like Nrg better than arhd because it has the extended quick settings and nrg tweaks.
I used speedROM faithfully with great success and satisfaction until the latest releases which I found a little buggy--unfun # of random reboots.
NRG has been very stable with faux 23b6, and it runs apex launcher like butter. Of course, your mileage may very. This is just my experience. I'm right there with you on needing all the phone's features. I would LOVE to see a sense 4 ROM with a working camera. That's a deal breaker especially on a phone like this where the camera is so awesome.

Eclipze, its semi-working for me. Sometimes it randomly crashes, other times the interface is glitchy.
I haven't stayed on a ROM, because there is one bug or behavior that drives you insane. I need a stable one to be able to play TDKR which I haven't been able to do cuz I keep switching ROMs back and forth.
One thing awesome is that this guy discovered why data doesn't work in CM9/CM10. Can't wait till its fixed, but one thing I gotta ask is what exactly is the "multi-touch issue".

I need data and GPS working so no CM for me
Please make sure the ROM doesn't have any multi-touch issues.

to disable google now go open it go into settings and you should be able to turn it off, to just use the normal google search.. or just freeze or uninstall google search if thats your issue... as for improving battery life try speed rom or fourth-bar maybe even energy rom with the faux kernel
I generally don't game, but I'm a fairly heavy user - multiple GMail accounts syncing, Google Now, location services on, live wallpaper - and I get pretty darn good battery life out of NRG ROM. I would use the Sense 4 ROM because it's beautiful and has great battery life, but it doesn't have NFC and sometimes the camera died. (Although, apparently not for everyone. Odd....) I just keep a charger in my car, and use WiFi when I can.
As of right now, until either NFC is enabled on Sense 4, or CM10 is out of its experimental-type phase, I'd go with NRG or SpeedROM (with Google Now and location services shut off) Just my $0.02, though.

Well, apparently it hasn't been implemented on the Sense 4 ROM for the Amaze. At least, as of a few weeks ago. I didn't even have the option in the settings to turn it on, and it didn't respond to a tag that I have.
I use sense 4 by Team Nightmare.. after 2 hours use.. I'm active social website user.. I check instagram and facebook, every second of the day.. I also do a lot of texting almost 10k a month, I have over 2k songs on my SD card, and also use my beats headphone with is support by this Rom.. this is the best Rom for me..

I'm happy with Fourth Bar: Infusion. I'm a fairly heavy user. Could go through two charges/day with the stock ROM. Fourth Bar gets me through the work day now.
SpeedRom 8 has been treating me well after reflashing the ICS RUU and it (got a bad flash the first time arround). So far battery life is about where BulletProof was for me on the GB OS. Streaming music on wi-fi for a good 6+ hrs a day and have about 30% battery left afterword.
this was tested on sense 4+ ATT htc one x. U NEED TO BE ROOTED AND ON A CUSTOM ROM. IT WASNT TESTED ON SENSE 5 BUT IT MIGHT WORK.
PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE U TRY ,FOR THAT MOMENT U WISHED U HAD BACKED UP
1) calibrate the battery after u install a custom rom. easiest way is try to search calibrate battery on google play. there is a lot of info that says it does not help but i did it myself and it helped.
2) use the app attached
all u have to do is restart manually your phone, the app tries but it will not reboot the phone. this app will odex your rom which supposedly helps with battery life and performance. I cant find the original thread where I downloaded the app so I cant post links of the thread or credits. please don't credit me for it ITS NOT MY APP.
3) try greenify app from the market,. it helps a little
all credits go to their specific owner/developer of the specific apps. I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR ANYTHING .
test this and report back. i been using this for like 10 days now and it help pretty good with the battery life. i am not a heavy user nor a very light user, i use the phone normally: about 40 texts a day ,45 to an hour phone talk, couple of checks on xda, no facebook but i use a similar social app, data is allways on, also about 5 hours of wifi ,service in the area is tops 4 bars half of time is 1 or 2 bars and there is no LTE, phone gets unplugged at 7 am and i have 55 % at 10 pm but if i leave it to drain all the way it goes 30-35 hours. u can thank me if i helped. good luck.

Ive odexed a different way using terminal, but def improves the speed of opening apps, that's why htc odex in the first place. I believe battery calibrationto be a myth, your phone already knows the voltage and miliamps by reading the battery.
Yes, battery calibration is a myth.

So is odexing rom, yes phone will boot faster, and create dalvik cache faster on first boot, but there's almost none battery/performance improvements from it, not to mention it will completely break theming in any rom.
