couple battery saving tricks - HTC One X+

this was tested on sense 4+ ATT htc one x. U NEED TO BE ROOTED AND ON A CUSTOM ROM. IT WASNT TESTED ON SENSE 5 BUT IT MIGHT WORK.
PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE U TRY ,FOR THAT MOMENT U WISHED U HAD BACKED UP
1) calibrate the battery after u install a custom rom. easiest way is try to search calibrate battery on google play. there is a lot of info that says it does not help but i did it myself and it helped.
2) use the app attached
all u have to do is restart manually your phone, the app tries but it will not reboot the phone. this app will odex your rom which supposedly helps with battery life and performance. I cant find the original thread where I downloaded the app so I cant post links of the thread or credits. please don't credit me for it ITS NOT MY APP.
3) try greenify app from the market,. it helps a little
all credits go to their specific owner/developer of the specific apps. I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR ANYTHING .
test this and report back. i been using this for like 10 days now and it help pretty good with the battery life. i am not a heavy user nor a very light user, i use the phone normally: about 40 texts a day ,45 to an hour phone talk, couple of checks on xda, no facebook but i use a similar social app, data is allways on, also about 5 hours of wifi ,service in the area is tops 4 bars half of time is 1 or 2 bars and there is no LTE, phone gets unplugged at 7 am and i have 55 % at 10 pm but if i leave it to drain all the way it goes 30-35 hours. u can thank me if i helped. good luck.

Ive odexed a different way using terminal, but def improves the speed of opening apps, that's why htc odex in the first place. I believe battery calibrationto be a myth, your phone already knows the voltage and miliamps by reading the battery.

Yes, battery calibration is a myth.

So is odexing rom, yes phone will boot faster, and create dalvik cache faster on first boot, but there's almost none battery/performance improvements from it, not to mention it will completely break theming in any rom.

[Q] Battery draining too fast

I have a problem with my battery I have my new sgs 2 and I rooted and did a new rom and all but my battery is draining really fast under moderate use! 3 hours of moderate use and I lose about 30% battery! What can be the problem? I calibrated and did speedmod kerenel, still heavy drain... in sleep mode I guess it can last like 2 days but I want to use my phone constantly without loosing so much battery
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
As far as I can tell based on this information, you have no drain. It's normal that the screen consumes power. If you standby time is 2 days, then you have no battery drain.
Lower your screen brightness and avoid using white colours. And no there is nothing else you can do.
But I see slot of people who get 10 hours of use on moderate and even heavy use,.. maybe it's my rom? I use rarity rom with speedmod kernel, maybe I should use checkrom?

No one gets 10 hours with screen on. Thats what you are talking about right? You get 3-4 hours max.
So 30% in 3 hours is normal and not bad.
Right now I got left 58% battery after almost 3 hours of moderate/ heavy use like YouTube mostly fb internet n stuff, is that normal?
I got almost half brightness with 3g always on
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Yes .
So is there any particular rom that is known to save battery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
yes, there is a way to save more battery - use common sense.
Srry I meant to write rom but galaxy must have "fixed " it
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Whichever ROM makes you not use your phone. Probably best to choose the worst looking one you can find, so you're less likely to use it.
You still don´t understand it. The screen uses power. No matter what rom/kernel you use.
I do get it but isent there any rom that actually saves battery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
No there isnt, at least not afaik.
Get urself Android Assistant, switch to Tools and check out Battery Use. If u click on the "Other" button u'll see exactly what drains the most power. I'm almost certain it'll look like this:
Display
Android System
Android OS
Display can only be reduced by brightness, auto-rotate screen and Auto adjust screen power (See Display settings)
Android System includes many packages. (Look up the details in the Assistant to see which ones u can kill for now)
Android OS is mostly ur CPU clock. U can get urself SetCPU (root required) to lower ur clock frequency (mines set to min 200/max 800; on demand). Everyting runs smooth and I dont see any difference besides 2-4 more hours of battery
Dont set it too low or it wont start up anymore!
The Assistant quick boost widget is also pretty useful. Just click on it and it'll kill all unused apps increasing ur TTL, even if its only a lil bit.
Hope this helps!

[Q] Help, new to this

Hi, I downloaded and installed XWLPY NeatRom Lite v3.5 (18th October 2012)a couple of days ago and now my battery is draining extremely fast. I tried a couple of battery managers and nothing seems to work.
Anyone with any ideas on what I can do to remedy this? Plus I can't see the update section in my settings, is it removed with this software?

The ROM doesnt have an update because the devs have removed it because you just flash an update. As for the battery drain give it a few more days if the problem persists try another ROM. If it still persists after that try recalibrating the battery or resetting the fuel gauge chip.
Hope this helps

Hi,
NeatROM 3.5 is one of the best ROMs from battery backup perspective. And I can say that because I am using it since 3.5 came out and have never had any issues.
For a better battery life, follow the steps from the link,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33045733&postcount=8776
Please note that the instructions are prepared to get the most out of your battery. Even if you follow the few ones that you are comfortable with, you will surely see some improvement.
Please press Thanks if this has helped you.

Its simple mate. Just download an app and hit a button.
Usually battery drain is due to one of two things.
-Phone not going into deep sleep
-Wakelocks.
Download an app like CPU spy. you can use it to see whether or not your phone is going into deep sleep like it should. Also, use better battery stats to look for wakelocks. Download the app from HERE , let it run for one battery cycle and then check for wakelocks. If you dont know what those are, spend some time reading that thread.
But if you want to hold off for a couple of days, you can do that. It does take some time for a phone battery to settle when a new rom/kernel has been installed, after which battery life tends to improve.

Thank you very much for your help mate. I've tried a couple of battery managers off play (juice defender and another one). Right now kind of regretting this download, everything seems to be going wrong;
1. battery is draining @ 15% in 20 mins ( I only bought the battery last week after having the phone unlocked).
2. there's a lot of lag
3. screens keep freezing and
4. keep losing reception and constantly having to restart phone.
I only downloaded this cause after unlocking my phone it failed to update. Is there any other that I can download that works well with SGS2?
There's no dearth of ROMs for the i9100 dude. Try a couple out and see if those help. If its stability you're after, maybe use an ICS Rom rather than JB.
15% in 20 mins isn't normal even for a first day..you sure it isn't a faulty battery right? Was it giving decent life before you switched to this ROM?
Try downloading a calibration app and see what the voltage is when it says its charged 100%. Should be around 4100-4200 mAh.
As for the lags and freezes, did you wipe data, cache etc before you installed this Rom?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I had cleared the cache in settings before installing. Like I said, my first time doing this. Seemed straight forward at the time.
Since my phone is unlocked, will it return to ics4.0.3 which is what I had before?
Battery calibration app is showing 4161mv.
Will a factory reset help?
Thanks for all the help, site can be a bit confusing sometimes lol.

Cache from settings? No. I meant clearing cache from the CWM recovery menu. If you installed the ROM via CWM, that is.
If you did, I'd suggest reinstalling it again via cwm this time clearing data, cache and dalvik cache.
Ok..I just realised I totally assumed you'd installed it using CWM. Not sure if you did.
You can return to 4.0.3 if you want. Download stock firmware from sammobile.com and install it via Odin. I'm sure there's a guide on how to do that somewhere on this site.
Just noticed someone posted instructions on maximising battery. Did you use those? It could explain the freezes if they started after that. Some phones just can't handle undervolting etc.

Morning, I downloaded some battery managers and seems to be working better and faster. Battery discharged 27% in 5 hours.
Will see how it goes over the next couple of days.
Teaches me a lesson to do my research first lol.
Below is a screen shot of the apps I installed.
Thanks and gave a great day!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Haha that's a lotta apps just to save battery. As long as it helps eh? 27% in 5 hours is pretty acceptable for moderately heavy use. Depends on your signal strength and whether you're using data or on WiFi etc.

battery drain

hello friend
i have evo 3d with stock 4.0.3... my mobile wifi and data always enable... that my my battery work just for 4 hours or maimun 5 hours i always need to put my mobile on charging...
is there any kernel .... that have less battery drain....
if u gays know please paste the link
thanks in advance...
gays?
Maybe a bad flash, or you have to let the rom settle.
Can you tell me what exactly is draining your battery? (settings > battery)
There is some forbidden kernel somewhere which may do some good. But i advice you to flash another rom, stock rom sucks.
Are you in a low signal area? My battery life is horrendous when I am. Also what is your screen on time? Four to five hours of screen on time would be excellent.
I am using the same stock rom,but I always keep the wifi and mobile network off. I usually turn them on when I really need them. I DON'T think rom change could solve your problem if you always keep wifi on. My advice, you might try it.

you supposed to say guys right? haha ,i use miui always lasts 48 hours on newest official version
kernel makes all the difference on battery drain, i would suggest you try a completely stock rom and judge the drain over a couple of days
Battery drain is always going to vary from rom to rom and user, everyone uses different apps, sync times etc, so saying that your best bet is to flash different roms with different kernels and test which combination works for you
( Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )
i need something as well. i get about 8 hrs during normal use and minimal 3g usage.
yeah are you roaming alot? how old is your battery? how much are you actually using it? i could see if your on it the whole 4hrs then it would die. if your gonna root ive had incredible battery life with the meanROM v45.
what is the best battery replacement for e3d?
i'm on mikvirgin 1.01.
hardware 0002
stock htc kernel
been seeing a ton of new battery drain since installing the latest swype.
so, i guess my point is: what was the last thing you remember installing since you noticed battery drain.
i know, i know...you hear this all over xda.
but, it's for a reason.
ply a little practicality and solutions just show themselves!
my battery life is pretty good . i do alot of data streaming w subsonic and pandora ect too.
i'm usin paranoid android 2.52, w 3.0.6poonkang that it comes with i believe. im gonna run it up and down a few times and see what kind life i get w this rom, i'm coming from elegancia!, which was a great rom too. def worth the flash! ill report bat stats soon!
My phone needs everey ~8 hours a charge but mobile data and 3G is always on (Custom Firmware).
Think about a battery replacement.
Have you thought about using software in addition? I've had good luck using Juice Defender on my 3D

Amaze Battery madness!?

WTH?!I am using speed rom 8, stock kernel, and my battery jumps around like crazy, has anyone else had had his issue? I think its probably a bad battery. Sometime it falls off insanely quick and at the low end it just dies around 20% or so then I reboot and it up around 30...any ideas?

This has happend to me even on stock. It's purely a battery issue, I went hiking and my phone got slightly moist, and the warranty sticker on the battery went red. See if you have one on your battery, I took mine to my carrier and told me its was covered under HTC's warranty.
This happened to me on stock but tmobile sent me a new phone for $5 and that resolved my issue.
When I was using speed ROM I noticed the same thing with my battery. I don't remember how it was with stock so I can't comment there.
But I have attached a picture of my ROM battery life now that I've switched to the fusion ROM and so far it seems better.
The only thing I can see from the graph you've posted is that your screen was on slightly longer than mine, but that's no reason for such terrible battery.
Might be the ROM and I hate to suggest it, but you might be better of if you try another ROM.

That's what was happening to me + random reboots the first time I flashed speed rom 8. Thought it was the rom so I switched to Infusion, but was getting the same thing and data stopped working.
Here what I did which seems to have resolved the issue for me:
1) Wiped cache, davik, & data wipe
2) Flashed the stock ICS RUU (I used the R2 variant)
3) Wiped cache, davik, & data wipe again
4) Flashed SpeedRom 8
5) Did NOT turn on Google Now - It's a battery hog but was not related to the stability issues.
Now i'm running SpeedRom 8 and it's perfectly stable with great battey life. Only thing I've noticed is I seem to not be able to run Wi-Fi and Blutooth at the same time. Wi-Fi will drop out within 10 - 20 minutes if I do. Can't get it back unless I turn of BT and turn off Wi-FI and turn it back on. Weird but livable.

sense 5 hox+ battery drains insanely..

Can someone explain me this one..after I flash the arhd 8.0 sense 5..my battery drains dramaticallyinsanely fast..when I saw the log of my currentwidget..the may is extremelyhigh..
I've tried bother ARHD and Insertcoins Sense 5 roms, both appear to drain my battery much quicker than any other rom I've used (using same apps etc). I've ditched them and gone back to Cyanogen rom.

Absolutely (!), just wondered, if someone else has this "problem". In direct comparison to any other Sense 4+ Base, on all Sense 5 Roms (ARHD, Insertcoin, ...) i usually get a worse battery drain... It would be interesting, how the Stock-Rom does, but usually you know it "should" be even worse than custom...
I have the same problem with Sense 5 on HOX+.
My battery drains like 50% faster then when i had Sense 4+.
What i wonder, i updated my firmware to hboot 1.72.000 and the radio combined in that package. (3.1204.171.33)
Before that i had ARHD 7 with Sense 4+ and radio 1.35.000 with the radio that comes with that.
I notice people saying in different topics that their batterylife has increased.
Do these people maybe have Sense 5 installed with the older firmware?
I have exact the same apps installed on Sense 5 then i had with Sense 4.
I did full wipes, reinstalled the firmware for sense 5 again. Installed ARHD 8 without the tweaks. Installed other Sense 5 ROMs but still the same.
Im about to go back to the ARHD7 and older firmware because i know with that it worked oke.
Few days ago i also noticed some screen flickering, wich is stranged because i have the same radio in hboot as in the ROM.
I hope someone can find a sollution for this.
Maybe Sense 5 with older firmware and hboot 1.35.000 is a sollution, i havent tried that yet.
Edit: To the poster above me, i used the stock ROM from the dump with the new radio and hboot, same bad batterylife.
Aside from trying different firmware, anyone else found ways to improve the battery life on the Sense 5 roms?

Ow yeah forgot about that.
I've been running the latest Insertcoin release for the last six hours. Clean wipe and install. Battery is draining pretty fast, worryingly it drains pretty fast when the phone is not being used (in sleep). I am using the same apps as I use with either Sense 4 or lately aosp+ (non-Sense), where the battery life is much better.
In fact I was getting battery drain with no apps at all install, other than the ones that come with the rom itself. I've tried Insertcoin, arhd 8 and Elegancia. I am assuming therefore the problem is with the base/kernel that these roms are built from. If so, a poor deal from HTC.

HTC one X - Sense 5 update - Dramatic Battery Drain - found something!
Hello,
I'm using a stock HTC one X ( No custom rom or anything ) and have updated to Sense 5 recently.
Realised that the battery usage was so high that phone would almost go 12 to 14 hours on battery.
Previous Sense was over a day!
Checked a lot of apps, even tried factory reset.. But no change.
Then I switched off the location services ( Settings -> Location -> Google location services )
And now battery life back to normal.
However, I cannot use the weather app anymore because of no location.
But Navigation and everything is working just fine.
The reason I turned it off was the disclaimer saying " Allows google's location services to collect location data. Collection will occur even when no apps are running. Your location data will be kept private "
So the this thing is uploading the location data in real time or what ??? The hell of a battery drain.
Possibly the roms u use are draining because of this.
Just a feedback.

I've always had Google's location services turned off and I haven't noticed a change in battery life after updating to Sense 5 Android 4.2.2. I run stock, both before and after.

Oh Ok. Perhaps that's why you didn't experience battery change
To put it simple in my scenario ;
Google Location off :
-Sense 4.2.2 ( over a day battery life )
-Sense 5 ( over a day battery life )
Google Location on:
-Sense 4.2.2 ( over a day battery life )
-Sense 5 ( around 14 hours of battery life )
Anyways it was just a feedback ( that resolved my issue ) to the ones out there.
Cheers.
i have solution for who update sense 5. bettry life problem.

I have problem at the begining. After i asking my big brother use htc one.. that make me sense..
The problem is.. if u all use all type blinkfeed. Exmple.: facebook.twitter.myspace all them. At list..
The more u all put type at blink feed. The more u need consume power...
Sensen 5 still not balance at blinkfeed section.
All u need do just off all ur blink feed or chose one of them wht u alway use..
My recomendce not us att just us blink feed as u gellry or u note.task that should enough..
Well if u all wan save ur bettry life like sense 4.. off the blink feed or clear all type at blink feed..make empty blinkfeed..u can try this.
I alrdy use this way..
Back normal..
No need angry.or hate sense 5 coz all sense type gen. Very nice more smooth then sense 4.. pls tell other.this is ur save ur life bettry..
