Could there be a new LTE-A model coming out soon along with the Note 3?
Source code is availabe for a SCH-I545L online at the Samsung Opensource site.
Even if it is, it's for supported markets only (read: korea) and the vzw s4 already supports voLTE so it really doesn't matter
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 4
Its about Dev support since the newer S4 will probably use a Snapdragon S800 and baseband will be completely different and othere H/W bits might be slightly different.
Short answer is no. Long answer is long but also no.
Oh no. It is coming out FOR SURE. I'm sure they confirmed it like in May. But it's only for the korean market.

Yeah, I know its already out in the Korean market and there are rumors of the i9506 model for the International market with the updated chipset.
But this is the first time I've seen Source Code out for a VZW model that is not retailing yet.
I have a regional carrier in WI that just released the Galaxy s4 yesterday... sure enough model number SCH-I545L
Yep Cellcom (NE Wisconsin's monopolistic carrier) just started selling the S4 last Friday....
Here is the system info
Hope to get it rooted soon as I find the touchwiz interface to be total garbage compared to stock android... Also it's terrible at resizing fonts on in apps

You might be able to follow the Verizon subsection for this phone. I'm pretty sure this phone was released by Verizon for smaller carriers. Roms might work on it from that section. Rooting can be done no matter what carrier. If you incorrectly flash a wrong ROM for your phone, the data will not work.

What root method will work? The build number ends with WWUAMG6.
I just picked up the i545L yesterday on Cellcom in WI as well. I am also waiting for root but i installed Zeam from the play store to get rid of Samsung's TW Launcher in the mean time.
Has anybody figured out the best way to root the SCH-I545L?

what's your source on this. All they have to do from INTL to ATT is change the SOC **** basically, is there a precedent for them updating a Euro version of a phone 8 months before a US version of the same phone?

All US versions of the Galaxy S series were months behind the international version for the 2.2 release... The carriers have to add in all their bloatware and customizations before they can release it. ICS will be at least another 5-7 months based on prior history with AT& T

Previously Samsung specified device upgrades by region. When they announced the Note ICS update, they did not. When questioned, they still stated ICS for the "Galaxy Note" in Q1 2012. I know how ATT is with updates, but I'm still optimistic. Just makes no sense that previous announcements included region specifications in the actual press release, whereas the Note did not. Only time will tell.

Guys i just don't understand the difference between international S3 and Australia Vodafone S3 with code T
Does anyone figure out any differences?
And are there any customised roms that fit this type of S3?
Thx
No difference for development purpose. Both are same. Only difference is that T version is more customised for 850 networks.
The only thing you need to make sure is to use modem version that is more suitable to your network. But that does not mean that other modems can brick your device.

From reports I have read on Whirlpool, with the Galaxy S2 there was no improvement on the 'T' version on Telstra, but Telstra actually 'detuned' the 900mhz channel....
I had issues on Telstra with my non- T version S2, losing connection in my kitchen etc.... I used a friends 'T' version- absolutely no difference, the same asu etc right next to each other, same data rate, same issue of people not hearing me from my kitchen...
I know that is not discussing the S3, but it wouldn't surprise me if there is no difference at all, just marketing a way to promote some sort of exclusivity. When I was on Telstra with the S2, other modems than the Telstra one actually gave me better data rates...

agreed, but you do not want to flash another carriers radio/modem or another carriers stock firmware via odin. Flashing a .zip rom in recovery that has been properly modified for another carrier is different.
I'm on Net10 and I'm running a AT&T rom . only ROM I have found that let's me run 4.3. I tried T-Mobile but couldn't even get it to flash. But one att rom worked for me. Didn't have to add any APN setting. Just worked flawlessly

I just purchased my S5 yesterday (April 17th), but I regret selling my M8. I thought the S5 would have more dev support and more ROM's than M8, but I guess I was wrong. On the T-Mobile M8 Android Dev section there is a GPE ROM and a RUU to covert the M8 to stock android.
I was expecting like 5-10 ROMs on the S5 already (as was with the Note 3), but I guess I'm wrong? Or can I flash ROM's meant for the non T-Mobile S5?
That's my main question.
Where are the ROM's?
wow really?
Impatient much?
You do realize that this phone came out less then two weeks ago.
And I am sure that not that many people have jumped to this since there were so many people that develop that are already on the s4 and the s5 is not that much of a upgrade for them to switch.
Not to mention that the AT&T and Verizon cariants are not rootable yet and more developers are typically on those networks to begin with.
Give it a little more time for the others to get root and developers to move over and get used to the different setup and roms will come.

Well just saying the M8 has more ROM's and even stock android flashability (made that up )
Seriously though, there is a GPE ROM for M8 that allows you to flash back to stock still, and the RUU Google Play Edition, which essentially converts the M8 on T-Mobile (and other carriers) to a GPE version of the M8 permanately.

I'm thinking of upgrading as well, but coming from carrier specific devices (the Samsung Infuse, ATT only, and the Nexus 4 on Simple Mobile), there hasn't been different variants. So the T-Mobile devices is compatible with ROMs built for the international variant? Would the kernels for it be compatible as well? The only thing that would be lost would be the carrier specific additions such as built-in VOIP? No differences in partition layout?

APN shows T-Mobile, so I believe its just a kernel/radio issue. It's up to you if flashing a custom ROM is worth no LTE.

Nevermind, those download links are dead.
PingPong Root almost worked on my device....but doesn't root. You may want to help them get us on track!
I think we r going to be stuck wit no root method for OC1 update :/ I'm starting to lose hope.

Well true. But my next phone will be a note a developer edition phone. I mostly use my phone for wifi hotspot. But I'm guessing I will have to buy foxfi it works. But I was trying to avoid it buying the version. And hoping to get root back.
Root
I too have messed up ,installed Lollipop . I have an s4 I545. Now I think Before I get the next phone I will check to see if it is rootable.
What I don't understand is if we can root the s6 Why wouldn't it work on the s4? Am I missing something?
Thanks

I'm guessing different chips then s6 uses the exynos 64 bit and the s4 uses snapdragon 32bit.
Ikr It's Weird That We can root the s6 but not the vzw s4 it turns out pingpongroot supports kernels built before may 15 and are kernel was built March 30 so it's probaly possible that the exploit pingpongroot uses would exist in our phones just a guess though are kernels are different of course it's a possibility
I read somewhere that there will be a lollipop 5.1 update by the end of July but it's unofficial if that's true

Yes I see where u going but also look at note 4. It still can't get root. And it's been how many months it's been out.
I'm sure if that update does come out there probably going to mess something up in that update but it's suprising the note 4 still doesn't have root you would think the note 4 would already have root it's not like the s4 that's almost 2 years old

If, and that is a pretty good IF, they update the S4 to 5.1 Verizon's version will never see it. Verizon is just too lazy and only care about their cash. I was surprised to see us get 5.0
They may both be lollipop, but have different code. Also, this update was sent AFTER the s6 exploit, meaning Samsung/Verizon had time to patch it. Therefore, the same method won't work.
