Anyone know if there is a tweak or rom for android that allows you to add an ios 7 style multitasking tweak for android(stolen from webos). A card of running apps when you swipe up for example...
Thanks.
Do you mean like when hold home for a few seconds or the box over box button that should be to the right of home for some devices. like cm 10.1 tablets for instance?

What phone are you using, and are you using the default ROM or something custom? Android has had multi-tasking available for a long time, but opening it is different on different devices.
Maybe he is talking about the theme?
Which is also very similar to Android imho...
I'm currently using a note ll with the default rom, multitasking is okay but I didn't know if there was an alternative to a webos style multitasking where you don't have to press the home button for a few seconds, but rather do a gesture to view your cards.

there was once one called "itching thumb" but has been discontinued for a couple years now, which is a pity. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=815289
there is also one for people with touchpads http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514235 but as far as i know it only works with touchpads. Maybe someone can take it and modify it to work with other hardware
as far as i know this is the closest you might find for android.

I've been playing with my friends android's and i've noticed that the atrix lags:
1) Pinch zoom on the home screen to select to which HS page i wanna go. Instead, we have to press the home button while on the center of the home screen to be able to select the HS page. (not sure if i made myself clear enough)
2) We are stuck in 7 pages! personally, I don't use all 7 pages and I don't like those extra empty pages taking up my ram (even if it's not taking up a considerable amount of ram, it still bugs me when others can just have 3 HS if they wanted to)
3) On the notification drop down list, others have the Power Control buttons to turn on/off wifi and that kinda functions. I know there are apps that add a shortcut bar on the notification screen, but it's not Power Control.
so my question is, Anyone know a way to overcome these issues listed? i can try flashing if necesary.

I know that Launcher Pro has this functionality, not sure about other launcher apps.

There are a few launcher apps that you may want to look at. The 2 popular ones are "Launcher Pro" and "Go". I think both of them can be configured for the number of pages you want.

Motorola included a few widgets that can toggle some of this functionality, but in the stock Atrix builds this is not available from the notification bar.
All that said and if you are a brave soul, you may want to check out some of the custom ROMs available for the Atrix over in the developer forum. The ROMs are generally much alike and free the Atrix from both Motorola and your carrier. The ROMs differ in there themes and minor features.
Hope this helps you and your friend get the most out of the Atrix.
I would check out ADWLauncher, most of these things can be customized.

i find launcher pro works the best for me. should definitely try that out.
Yeah, I've been thinking about Launchers, but I've tried launcher pro and I feel like it's taking even more ram. Because it's a launcher that is running on top of our stock HS, am I wrong?
I currently have Alien ROM on my device with the stock theme, because I cannot live without the one touch call/sms contact widget and also the ability to group apps on the app drawer. Tried the Alien theme and liked it, except for the mentioned "flaws"
Kill the blur launcher and use home switcher to set one by default. No more launcher running on top of another.

Oh! that's a nice one. thanks!
BTW, i just found by accident that if you swype upwards from below the screen, you get the HS selection. (just like the pinch zoom)

On mine with Launcher Pro I use two fingers to pinch, then keep one finger on the screen sliding it to which HS page I want to pick. I just figured this out based on what you were asking about. It is always fun to find some new feature like this that I didn't know existed before. With the stock home launcher from MotoBlur there is a capability to do it, but I long since forgot what that procedure was when I changed to Launcher Pro. LP has all the customizations you are asking for.

I was wondering what the difference is in a touchwiz and non touchwiz rom is. What does one offer that the other doesn't?
The Touchwiz UI

Can The TW works on my P7510 (Chinese stock)?
Stay away from TouchWiz, is a pile of horse **** bloatware.
TouchWiz is by far the most advanced software you currently can get on a tablet. The user experience it provides is light years ahead of anything else out there, even Honeycomb 3.2.
Not only that but TouchWiz gives you access to specific hardware you cant access without it. The ability to change color temperature of the screen is a HUGE feature you can only have with toucwiz.
Here are just a few of the features you get from TouchWiz that you cant get anywhere else :
1. REAL multitasking just like in Windows. You can have TWO apps open at once on the same screen and not have to switch back and forth. There is nothing like this available in the market or in 3.2. HUGE props to Samsung for doing this.
2. Ability to change color temperature of the screen.
3. One touch wifi file access to tablet from PC <-- AWESOME
4. Sluggish menu scrolling in vanilla Honeycomb are gone! It looks like
Samsung devs used video hardware acceleration for scrolling which creates a smooth experience compared to Vanilla honeycombs laggy jumpy scrolling in may menus.
5. Awesomenew notification/settings popup menu. FAR superior to stock Honeycomb.
6. One touch screen capture button in the task bar takes a snap shot of the screen and automatically saves to a folder.
7. Lots of cool QUALITY widgets not like the junk you find in the market.
8. Motion gestures
9. Superior App Manager/ RAM manager which can run ON TOP of any app you are running.
10. BEST Music app and runs super smooth. Much better than stock H.C. or anything in the market
11. BEST Ebook reader app you can get.
12. Your tablet will run FASTEST with touchwiz. Samsung is using hardware acceleration for menus like Apple. Stock HC uses software rendering which is why its so slow and laggy. You cant get hardware acceleration if you dont have TouchWiz. No the Devs here will not be able to add it as its beyond their capabilities.
The list goes on and on. TouchWiz is simply a superior experience than stock HC. I would even dream of using my tab without it. Your tablet is incomplete and missing features to access hardware if you dont have TouchWiz.
I am really curious about changing the color temperature. How do you do it?

Settings --> Screen --> Mode
Thanks 5th, that is exactly what I was looking for. This is my first tablet, and Im only coming from the HTC evo. And from that I came from the HTC hero. So Im still pretty green to this.
Is it worth swapping the kernel out? I know and Im sure you know as well, doing that on android phones will help out a lot. But what about on these tabs? IS that VooDoo what its made out to be?
touchwiz is pretty cool, but the gmail and calendar sucks big time compared to the original honeycomb version. how the heck can i see week view NORMALLY like honeycomb calendar instead of zooming with pinch and zoom. c'mon!

I respect your choice, related to TouchWiz. I enjoy vanilla builds of Honeycomb and I think TouchWiz removes the Android authenticity. There is a reason why devs like PhantomHacker release their ROM's cleaned from the bloatware Samsung adds. I'm looking forward to install his vanilla 3.2 ROM on my P7510.
I just installed an AOSP ICS rom (SlimICS) and am missing the long-press left button = search functionality that stock Touchwiz has.
I know that AOSP doesn't include this, so I'm trying to see if there's a mod that may bring it back. I can't find any settings in the otherwise excellent SlimICS (or its ASS extra settings menu), and unfortunately cannot ask in its thread due to having <10 posts and it being in the dev forum. I also searched for a while but may be trying all the wrong keywords because I don't see anything promising for "aosp long press left button search" or similar.
Would anyone happen to know if this functionality is possible with an AOSP rom? Any pointers will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hey.
It is a TouchWiz feature and Slim is an AOSP rom. Therefore there is at the moment no chance to bring it to this rom because it comes without TouchWiz.
Maybe you could install TouchWiz and get the feature back but I don't know.
Hiya. Right that's what I mean, is there a mod or app that may simulate it atleast? I presume it would be something that binds to the left click and on longpress event launches Google Search.
I just recalled that when I tried it, CM7 had something like that in its settings, letting you change what happened on longpress. I don't know if it was using a mod for that, will look around.
Sorry I dont know.
You could try it with TW 4.5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883
but dont know if you will have success.
I'm on Resurrection ics from and missed this feature too. I have bound it to a direct button and long press menu button of the navigation bar. The latest Nova launcher also has this feature. Hope I helped!

It looks like Nova Launcher 1.1.1 may just be doing what I'm describing here. I'm surprised my current choice Go Launcher Ex doesn't have it, considering the multitude of useful features they've managed to add by now.
Id Like to be able to move the App Drawer button from the far right where it defaults. To the Middle.
Is there anyway to do this in Stock? And if not do any roms with touchwhiz allow for this?
As far as I know a lot of the things which are to do with customizing touch-wiz features aren't going to be in stock... but I could be wrong?
There is an existing thread about this, and the currently valid answer appears to be no.

Try a launcher like Apex. All the buttons and other features can be customized, while everything else can be left stock.
I see everyone callling the phone styled settings bar a 'bug'. This is not true. All the information available in AOSP and from AOSPA (Paranoid Android Team) points to the fact that the dual pane menu bar is not broken, its just gone entirely... removed.
Without custom roms (even that's a stretch) don't expect to see it come back.

Which is silly. They use the dual pane layout for things like gmail, so why not settings? Also, I think the tablet ui PA is talking about is the SystemUI one, not settings. Like the navbar layout.
My point is: Of course Google did it on purpose, but it's still stupid and should be reverted
Oh dear. I was hoping 'twasn't so, it's really annoying. :/

From Android 4.2 google going backwards with tablets... Removing tablet ui, replacing AWESOME youtube app with this google+ like sh*t, everything for "similar experience" on android phones and tablets, so i have an idea, Google! Make a 5 inch nexus tablet to get similar experience on nexus phones and tablets!
