As the title says, I upgraded my 32GB wifi edition to 4.2.2 and have subsequently lost Google Now.
Is it simply not included in the newest build?
Anybody know how to re-enable it? (Perhaps I just need a few apks from an older build?)

To get to Google Now, just slide your finger up from any of the three softkeys.
I know how it is supposed to be accessed, I use it on my Xperia Z and previously on this device, but my question is how do I enable it as currently sliding up from the bottom is only launching Google search. No cards. No nothing.
I'm pretty certain it's disabled or not installed. Any ideas?

Haven't heard or seen that problem at all myself. You have your Google account set up right?
Hmmm similar issue but in reverse. I DOWNgraded my xtz 16gb WiFi model from 4.2.2 to 4.12 no matter what way I select Google Now via the app or the shortcuts it comes up with a "network error, please check your connection" message.
Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: Must have been an actual Google Now server glitch as I have changed nothing on the tablet but it is now working normally.

But it seems it's not compatible with my 3g flyer. Anyone know a way around this? Is the apk floating around somewhere?
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA Premium App
I had to install it on my phone, register it. then back it up with TB and restore using TB on my Flyer. THEN it worked, otherwise it would just force close on startup.
oh interesting. I just got force closes after installing apk and gave up...will give titanium backup a go. Guess I have a reason to root now!
.
If you have a 3G Flyer and can not see certain apps on the market, it is due to carrier/country limitations.
First, I advise you save your desktop theme (or it will reset to default HTC, as when you bought it)
Borrow a US or European SIM card from someone (if you don't already have one) , shut down and then insert it into the Flyer.
You will be asked to confirm your Google password and then when you go to the market, it will be open.
Soz to the WiFi only guys, this is something that will not work for you until PPTP VPN is working for Android so you can fake your location..(or does anyone think that's WHY, PPTP encrypted has never worked... Hmmm)

Sorry that is simply not true. I have the 3g flyer with a US sim and I am in the US and I don't see the full market. MANY Alps are missing, including viber.

It is true as far as the country/carrier situation (or did you not read my post! I can use sign language if you wish. )
You may be in the US (country) but your carrier may not allow viber to be listed as it is a voip package and they would lose their nice call profits.
If an app still does not show no matter what country/carrier, then that is down to the actual developer not having approved your device in the compatibility list. Either there is a real compatibility problem or he just ain't got around to it yet.
Don't moan if you sideload it and it screws your device....

No problem here. Something is messed up on your device.

If you cant get them to work, a factory reset should do it or if u are rooted, wipe all and reinstall rom
If you're running a custom ROM, it's possible that there's info in 'build.prop' that the Market reads and could flag apps as incompatible. What are you running ?
FWIW, I didn't check Adobe Flash 11. When did that get released, a day ago ? Two days ago ? Haven't heard there's been an update.... I'll go out on a limb and say that one won't across too many sites that are "Flash 11 only" yet either !! I think you can hold off for a short bit to get that one sorted out !
As for the others, the Market says they're "compatible with all of your devices". I have TBolts and Eris linked to my account, so yes, they'll even run on my old Eris.

Not sure but on mine the Market auto updated Adobe Flash to 11 last night.
Sent from my brain.
Adobe Flash only shows up in the Market if I look for it. It doesn't appear under My Apps. When I do find it, it has the "update" tag on it though. I don't know if it will eventually auto-update or not since it's a baked-in app. Maps does though...

Once you update it, it will be linked to the market then since you will no longer be using the /system/app version (you'll be using the /data/app version market installed). So from then on it will be listed in your market when an update is available. As far as making that "automatic", you'd have to check that box in the market for that app.
As someone said, it could be something in your build.prop such as your model name, lcd density, or fingerprint.

My apologies. I believe I did use the market to install Flash 10.3 and choosing to auto update. I am using Market version 3.1.6 btw
And I assume that Google pushes updates to their apps which is why Gmail and Maps constantly update without user interaction.
Sent from my brain.
I think with Google's apps, they took it upon themselves to default the "update" flag to 'yes'

I was just talking to a guy about this. Did you by chance change your screen density? The stock density on the Tbolt is 240. Or if you are using a custom rom maybe the density has been changed?
You can use Root Explorer and go to system/build.prop. long press and chose to view it as a text file and check the density is 240.
Hey all - I've recently flashed SentinelROM 4.75 and the Play Store now seemingly thinks I'm not in the UK. Previous UK Apps I had aren't available and I receive the message "this item is not available in your country" when clicking a link to them.
I've had a good search but can't find any answers - does anyone know what it could be? I reinstalled Gapps after flashing the ROM - is it region specific? Do I need UK specific Gapps? Had a search but can't find much to suggest this is the case?
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks in advance...

That mod doesn't allow region specific downloads because Google has control over it from server side.
Edit : To the OP you can try spoofing your IP and trick Google into thinking you are in other country, something like Orbot (it keeps you secure also but since it randomly use's IP's of different regions I don't recommend it ), or by using VPN.

Thanks for the replies! Any ideas why this has started to happen? I was on ICS before and with SentinelROM am now on Cyagenmod 10.1 - has Play Store changed with Jelly Bean? Or, does my phone now think its Australian because Sentinel is programmed by an Australian?! Or, could it be something to do with the fact that I've changed carrier recently from O2 to Everything Everywhere?

No, from a recent play store version Google checks the IP (to understand the region) instead of the carrier code, are you using a secure proxy connection?

Hmmm, yep it's the same wifi connection I previously used, and it happens over 3G too. The Play Store shows prices in pounds, so presumably that mean it does recognise that I'm in the UK? And yet there's a whole bunch of UK specific apps that its not letting me access??

Must be a bug with the play store apk, try replacing it with other apk's (also try clearing cache and data from application manager)

Thanks so much for the replies - I couldn't get round the problem so decided to flash a new rom (Resurrection Remic) and yet my Play Store is still doing the same thing!
It has dawned on me that when I initially flashed the Sentinel rom, on the first reboot my phone announced to me that my IP address had changed and "would I like to revert back to the old one, or some of my apps might not work properly" or the likes. I clicked yes, but perhaps this sounds like I actually hit no?!
Any thoughts? Very much appreciate your replies!

Hello. I got the same problem on my nexus 4. It`s used over 9GB over 2-3 days. problem began when i flashed on my nexus latest pa gapps.
Maybe that is the problem ?. I used my actual ROM before, and it wasn`t using so much transfer. My actual gapps is called pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140123-signed.zip and i think they causes the problem.
@edit
I did factory reset and install everything as before but i used pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20131215-signed.zip.
Everything is ok now so i`m sure problem is in latest pa gapps.

Interesting. Charge google for your 5 gb data.
I've tried searching the forums and I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Are there any 4.4.4 ROMS (any base CM/AOSP/AOKP etc.) that Vine and Snapchat work on? I'm fed up with the Samsung stock but don't want to lose functionality by switching...
I'll take that as a no then.

@gordon/all Same prob Here. Do u know a version which runs with snapchat?
The error code tells (translated),error sending failure... Tap again...
THX im running the nightly frok 2014.06.26
Some people seem to say if you set the quality on Snapchat to lower you get more recording time. But Vine seems to just bring up an error message saying "your device is not supported" or something.

I believe they still have the problem. I decided to end up using a stock Google Play Edition ROM. of course this dosent have any customisations but if you really want to customise it you can use Xposed Framework (+ GravityBox) etc.
