I've tried Unified Remote and WinApp off the market, both highly rated, both practically useless for me, if for example you run a setup program the input just stops working so you have to plug a mouse in to complete which completely renders the app pointless to me. That was just an example, all of the ones I've tried have been so flakey as to be frustrating.
Are there any apps that can act as keyboard and mouse for a remote windows system that actually work 100% of the time?
I used to use Gmote a while back and never ran into the issues you're describing. I think now its primary function is based around media control but has a track pad and keyboard function.

I was wondering if there was an app that would let you use the phone as a mouse/keyboard for a computer/laptop. Something like Blueputdroid, which turns the phone into a bluetooth mouse/keyboard using root and doesn't require additional software to be installed and configured on the computer.
BluePutdroid would've been just fine but I haven't had luck with it - Whenever I use it, it crashes after a few seconds and corrupts my sdcard somehow.
So does anyone know of app that can turn the phone into a bluetooth or usb mouse/keyboard so it's just like plugging in a normal keyboard or mouse?
Thanks!

First off, most do require somesort of server software and run over wifi, so what OS do you use?
But i happen to use Unified Remote. I love it to death, I wish to hell I could get it on my wifes *cringe* iphone just because it controls literately everything windows. It costs a few bones, but is well worth it (cause of netflix, i use windows as my media boxes, and it has remotes for everything media center on windows...highly recommended.)
Not sure about bluetooth only cause I don't have it on my tv boxes.
If you use Windows you can use an app called Win Remote. Works pretty well.

This is what I use, very simple and works flawlessly. But it does require the server to be ran on the computer. It's got two-finger multi-touch support for scrolling like a MacBook trackpad which is useful for cruising the interwebz.
Okay, I was thinking about an app to make...
The perfect idea hit my brain.
It involves using my android phone as an input device, and then controlling my Galaxy Tab with it. It would be a magic mouse, just for Android to Tablet.
I have ideas of going about this, but I'm not sure it's possible.
1. Build the mouse app on the phone, to mimic a mouse, or track pad. Then make Bluetooth functionality like the app that pairs PS3 and Android Phones. Add the track pad area, buttons, scroolbar on the right hand side, some nice GUI, and bam, it's paired and working.
2. Build the mouse app on the phone, to mimic a mouse, or track pad. Then create a receiving server app for the tablet, that includes settings, mouse speed, the connection, login, etc. Then make some kind of something on the phone to be able to connect and communicate with the tablet's server app, to allow it to be set, paired and then working.
Would either two of these be possible?
I've messed with many different apps on my Android phone that, in conjunction with a server app, allow me to control my PC with my phone. I'm curious though if there is a hardware solution that does the same thing and doesn't require any server software to be installed on the PC?
Here's my idea. A dongle that's plugged into your PC and is recognized as a generic HID device. The dongle then connects to your phone via BT. Then using an app on the phone, you can now use your phone as a keyboard, mouse, or PowerPoint controller.
This would be great for times when you don't have admin rights on the PC needing controlled and wouldn't be able to install a piece of software, but you can at least hook up a mouse or keyboard and they work. I have to do a lot of PowerPoint presentations at school and would love to just simply pop a dongle into the PC and almost immediately be able to start controlling the presentation from my phone.

It's a good thought, but I think it's overkill for just that purpose.
I guess the main use is to utilize your phone as keyboard input? otherwise, you could just plugin a wireless mouse to control the presentation.
I also assume that your ppt is being presented from the PC, instead of from the phone, right?

I suppose it may be overkill, sure. I was hoping to minimize what I would have to be carrying around with me. It would be handy to just have a small USB plug sized dongle only with me that I can just plug and and go and not have to have a mouse. Even a small mouse can be a bit of a bulge, and it's something that's easier to break than a small dongle.
And yes, the PPT would be running from the PC, most likely on the teachers computer that's hooked to the rooms projector.
Hmm, TeamViewer can be run without being installed. That may help. Just click on "Run" instead of "Install" on the menu.
No server software
I really don't understand why this isn't implemented already. In theory all you would need is the HID driver in an app on your phone and transmit over Bluetooth. Not sure what the complication is.
I had a feature phone that could do this in 2009, without any software installed anywhere, using standard Bluetooth and HID drivers.
I have the Logitech keyboard and mouse for Android tablets, and they WILL NOT play nice together. If I use the mouse, I can't use the keyboard as neither will stay connected, knocking the other out of the connection. I am using rooted, but stock HC 3.2.1 ROM, and this is VERY annoying as I wanted to use it as a laptop replacement and using touchscreen with keyboard is a pain.
When using both, if I move mouse while typing, the keys will stuck and you get words like thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis.
I am able to simultaneously use a Dell Axim bluetooth keyboard and a Dell branded bluetooth mouse with my Stock Honeycomb HTC Flyer. Works like a charm.

I also have the Motorola keyboard + mouse set, and I can report that I can't use the mouse at all. It pairs but never connects.
However, I did try to pair with another mouse and I got the same result as you. Separately, each device worked properly. Together, the mouse knocked the keyboard constantly. I ended up giving up on the mouse, the keyboard is more important
I did send a message to HTC about this problem, and they said the Flyer is probably not compatible with certain devices or certain combos of devices. Standard BS response.

I have this problem, and I have had it before. I am trying to have a desktop replacement via my tablet connecting to desktop as needed. I really need to use a mouse and keyboard, preferably without cumbersom cables. I have an original xoom, this happened on the old ROM and now the JB rom I loaded. If I try to use my bluetooth mouse almost every word eeeeeeeeeeeendsssssssss upppppppppp liiiiiiiiiiiikkee tttttthhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiis. And forget trying to use backspace to correct any mistake, as the backspace key sticks and usually deletes EVERYTHING you typed before you can backup over the 5-10 extra letter repeats you used.
I am surprised this isn't addressed somewhere, I have had this so many times on this and my other tablets. I have even tried various bluetooth keyboard and mice. Even worse, the new microsoft sculpt mouse detects as a keyboard and a mouse, and the "use physical keyboard" button doesn't work (if you click off, it just stays on and shows on, no matter what I do. So if I even attempt to use this new mouse, I can't even get the on-screen keyboard to work.
Right now I have to either use the mouse (and turn the mouse off to type on screen), or turn the mouse off and keyboard on while I type something up. I'm almost in tears as I am partially disabled, and all my attempts to ease myself back into using a computer, I run into new issues.
In short, I can't buy anything new, I really need to use this Xoom for now. I can't use a USB device well, it is too cumbersom, I can't dock it and use the USB, I need to stick with bluetooth. I have a Microsoft Mobile Bluetooth keyboard 6000 and a Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard.
I have tried an app called keyboard helper pro, but it doesn't work at all.
I can use a different ROM, but I would really prefer a newer one as the extra keys and mouse features seem to pass through (such as using the right mouse button, instead of having to hold the left button down, when connected to my desktop.)
Any pointers? I heard something about the bluetooth stack being changed. I haven't found out what/why/how the windows key and right mouse button work (they didn't in older android versions).

You posted in the forum section for the HTC Flyer. Find the forum section for the Xoom, and you might get better help.
I am working on a native library that creates 2 virtual input devices with /dev/uinput. 1 is a keyboard and the other is mouse. I have the keyboard working perfectly, but I am having a hard time with the mouse.
The library is a part of a remote control application I am working on that has a firewall punch through (for devices like android sticks or Google TV's that sit behind a firewall so you don't have to do any port forwarding).
I have the mouse clicking working just fine, but I am struggling setting the mouse pointers position. I can't get the mouse to go to where I want it.
My mouse creation and control code can be found here:

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have read some people saying it's not possible while other similar apps I have seen are doing what I want (in appearance at least).
