So far, three of us in the 'Bell' thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2421750 ) have confirmed that it works. Myself, I've done this on my Rogers Galaxy Mega, and two other folks have done Bell models (Which means Virgin Mobile should work with no issue as well).
As there are no ODIN packages yet, can people start posting nandroid backups for Rogers, Bell, Telus please for future use?
Upload it to google drive, or something like that..
Thanks!

Go to this thread and try installing the apk directly.
If it doesnt work push the apk in system/apps.
You need to flash another rom with Odin.
Odin 1.85: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=581913&d=1304094576
And XWKK5 (Unrooted stock 2.3.6 GB) FW: http://hotfile.com/dl/146318866/aa937b4/I9100XWKK5_I9100OXXKJ3.zip.html
Get in the download mode (press simultaneously down volume rocker + menu button + power button when device is not powered)
Ignore warning and continue. Start odin and connect your phone with usb. Unrar archive you downloaded and click pda then select tar file inside archive. And flash!
If you're rooted, you can try installing or pushing .apk file.
Google Play Store 3.5.15: http://www.mediafire.com/?kz4opqa7491ynbx
Hope you understand..

You can try to do a factory reset. After that it asks you in normal for youre language.
If not, then flash another firmware with odin. Bit it's important to close all Kies processes!!
Open Taskmanager and kill all Kies processes

Yes its normal. But we are missing something I guess...
1) Enable USB debugging mode (Settings > Applications > Development)
2) remove SIM & Battery, then reinsert battery
3) hold the buttons and plug usb to get in download mode
4) wait for Win7 USB device drivers to run properly
5) start ODIN3 and wait to see some action in one of the boxes
6) push ODIN3 start button & wait to see the green reset message
7) disconnect phone (it reboots itself)
It should look like this.
Ha! Maybe you're missing driver files! Do you have KIES 2 installed?

The leak from Bobby (designgears) is in an .exe package. It is called a 'one-click ODIN' meaning ODIN and all the other files required are packaged inside.
Simply put your Note into download mode (power off, then hold 'volume down' and 'power' until a warning screen appears, then press 'volume up' to continue), connect via USB and let your computer install the relevant drivers, then run the .exe file and click 'start' once a yellow 'COMx (mine was COM5)' appears.
That's it. ODIN will take care of everything else for you
Enjoy! The ICS ROM works very well, but you will notice a lot of force-closes and stutter if you try and import a backup of your old apps. Better to start over 'fresh' with a major revision jump

DAGr8's version does. The version I pointed you to (official) does not
There are additional steps required to root this one. I haven't tried DAGr8's version, perhaps getting that would be easier for you.

The collective also has a prerooted ics zip.
I really don't get it...the infuse was so much easier to flash roms which is why i so unfimiar with Odin. I have a bone stock note with no flash counter root. I'm hearing of several ics files, some with root, some without...and different places that people are getting it thru. The last posts i read mentioned of people using phones browser and clicking the ics picture and downloading to the phone, ive tried that but the file just keeps downloading...seems to get to 60% or so, ill check progress and than its back at 5% going up, here's a picture

Wait you flashed this through Odin unrooted? 100% completely stocked? I never knew you could do that! >.< lmao
galaxy Note, made to Showboat(;
Download mode is underneath the os and its ONLY purpose is to flash things with Odin, or heimdall (dunno if that's available for note yet), root is only needed to get su permission once booted into Android
I was finally able to flash cwm and made a back up in cwm (the back up took like 15 minute...i hope i did it right) i than downloaded ics on my phone via the ics picture on the dev section (should i use this or Odin) so now i guess I'm ready to flash. An i missing anything and will i lose root?

if your downloading ics via the picture in the dev section you will not lose root because that is a pre rooted ics rom by DAGr8

but to get into recovery mode, I need to hold volume up down and power, that's correct? I only entered adroid system recovery.
Thanks
Where did you put the cwm tar in Odin? It should be in the PDA section. After that yes you should be able to get in with the power and volume up buttons.

I think we may have to consider a Canadian carrier specific thread as I think our recent ICS upgrade has introduced some challenges specific to those of us north of the border...
Of course. Sorry I could not be of any help

FYI: I rooted my note AT&T when it had GB(stock) and when Samsung squeezed out the official ICS I updated through Kies which in turn unrooted the Note.
I read this thread -->here<-- hoping for a similar method to root the official ICS 4.0.4 WITHOUT tripping the counter. So far (if I didn't miss any info) only found modded ROMs and flashing methods. I don't want to flash I simply would like to repeat the same rooting process as that of GB.
Any suggestions?

I'm interested in the same thing, given there are directions and an Odin Tar for System flash (which doesn't trip counter) for Stock Gingerbread which has root installed. Is this something the devs could look into? I know that there are a few that are working with stock and modding after stock is rooted, it would be great to have that system.tar for flashing and using ADB to install CWM and then still keep the flash counter from being tripped.
I know there is a CWM for resetting the flash counter, but that's not something I want to mess with. Have heard rumor that they can still see that you flashed something that isn't stock and that's even if you have reset the counter. Not sure on confirmation but that's what I heard. Just want to stay clean like I have already.
Thank you all for any help with this issue!!

Try following this its what I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28821450
If you updated OTA it seems us Canadians have a script that rewrites the recovery to stock.

Thanks!
Unzip then use the open file option.

Works fine. All my data was kept after flash. Easy to flash using odin.
Plus my data speed on t-mobile went from a maximum of 3mb to 13mb after flash.

Hi. Sorry, I'm a a bit of a noob to the Samsung tools (having just come from the HTC world of hacking!). Can you tell Odin/Mobile Odin not to flash the modem part? I don't want to flash a SA modem onto my UK EE handset.
Thanks.

If it is a one Part Firmware like this one, no you can't. AFAIK you would need a 3 Part Firmware which consists of a Code, modem and csc part. There isn't a 3 part Firmware available right now.
What you could do is flash you current modem (your Providers Modem) seperately after flashing the Firmware.

Hi. Thanks for your help.
I've extracted the tar from the zip and then unpacked the tar. I assume I can just flash the system and boot images via Mobile Odin and leave the others? Sorry to be asking so many questions. I just don't want to brick my handset by rushing head long into something new to me.
Thanks

Yes mate all you do is unzip the tar then connect phone & flash through pda as normal.
Simples.

Yes, you can use Mobile Odin Pro to install and root without increasing the counter.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35057300#post35057300
Download the file from the OP and unzip it to your internal or extenal SD.
Launch Mobile Odin Pro, tap "Open file" and select the unzipped .tar.md5 file.
Now tick "Enable EverRoot", "Inject Superuser (SuperSU)", and "Inject Mobile Odin".
If you want a completely clean installation, also tick "Wipe data and cache" and "Wipe Dalvik Cache" (Warning: this erases all installed apps and settings).
Then tap on "Flash firmware" to start the installation process.
Thanks, but before the mobile odin can be used the phone must be rooted, the question is: which is the best method for root the phone by the first time, without increase the counter and apear the yellow triangle? . I think that one option is flashing CF-root (with PC odin) and after use triangle away.
Thanks one more time.
This is what I did. Flashed the phone /w PC Odin and used triangle away afterwards. Worked flawlessly.

If using Mobile Odin, it is a good idea to deselect the modem and hidden partitions as they are for a South African telco.

If you go to System settings > About device > Status, does "Device status" say "Normal" or "Modified"?
I also rooted it with PC odin using this tutorial (stock recovery method) initially:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801060&postcount=2
Unfortunately, Triangle Away was not able to reset the counter successfully (it was still showing "1"), and "Device status: Modified".
Anyway, as I was already rooted I then went the Mobile Odin Pro way selecting all the wipes. This brought back the counter to zero and "Device status: Normal" and gave me root access at the same time.

Hi I'm in the same boat and want to keep my ee modem and root. I've unzipped the file so do I just place the boot image and system image on my sd card and then flash them with mobile odin ? I'm not sure what affect having a SA modem on a British network would have on the phone if any

I initially installed this full image incl the modem on my EE N7105 (am using with Three UK) and the speeds were all over the place.
So I then reflashed the original image and then this image minus the modem and I can say that the speeds have improved drastically...
Strangely I am also getting a signal albiet 1bar in in some places where I had zero signal before.
Don't know what this build contains to improve on the signal strength...
Also battery life has not depleted and seems to be better than the previous build.
I'm somehow getting horrible Battery Life when i flash the included (SA) Modem. It's about 4-6% per Hour while before i had 2-3% guess i have to flash again the Provider Firmware and then the new one excluding the Modem. I'm on Vodafone Germany
I'm about to give up, finally.
Okay so far I've: re-flashed with AT&T MK2 firmware...
I cannot: find a .pit file the phone will accept.
I cannot yet: establish a jtag connection and I know I'm wiring in right...
The MK2 Firmware flashes with Odin, no problem. This states on the download screen it shows:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I527
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0x30
BOOTLOADER AP SWREV: 3
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
With the MK2 flash, it shows no errors unless I add the .PIT file I've found here for the I527.
When that's added with "Repartition" checked, it states SECURE CHECK FAIL: PIT
Either way, it accepts the firmware then reboots, as expected with "Recovery Booting" but it hangs there, then either sticks there or begins to boot loop.
Any ideas? Download is always accessible. I've never had a Samsung that was accessible in Download mode but unable to be successfully flashed.

Well not really sure but on that pit file it sounds like it is not signed..a knox thing..but while you have the rom installed do a factory reset and clear the dalvik cache and see if that will help.

That's an excellent idea.... If only I could get into recovery. It won't go into it....
I could go ahead and clean it out now, I have my own .PIT extracted from the device BUT I'm missing a lot of the partitions I'd need to accomplish this. ie everything not included in the Odin Flashable .tar.md5 file for MK2 here....
I do appreciate the suggestion though.

Hi..since you have the i527m mega (Canadian version) by what your pic shows above by flashing this rom ROOT_JDQ39.I527MVLUBNA3.tar by @krazykipa it should get you up and running again and the rom is rooted already, this is the rom i use when this happens to me, just unpack it first to get the .tar file and then flash with odin..and i believe this is a rogers rom which will still work..just remove any rogers stuff if you do not have the same carrier...at least you should be up and running again. :good:
