[Q] galaxy s3 home button lag ( s voice is disabled!) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i'm new here( well been reading alot already)
My name is guido from holland.
My problem with my s3 is the home button, when i'm on a app ( doesn't matter wich one) and i press the home button, it takes like 4-5 seconds before i see the home screen, and then it has to redraw itself. I already searched here but all i coild find was the animation set to 0, 5 and disable-ing tje s voice command.(what i already did)
I tried removing every home screen and put 1 app in it. Didn't work.
I didnt try factory reset , because i dont want to lose all my data.. ( even tough i could backup it somewhere)
It's getting quite annoying. So is there a solution to this?

Home Screen Button Problem

Alright so I just got a Samsung Fascinate through a trade here on XDA and everything seemed to be in working order...except for the actual software in the phone. For one, the home button doesn't take me home, it simply takes me to a blank screen. I can pull down the notification bar and everything...but I can't get home to actually access and apps or anything. The only way I can access anything is when I hold down the home button to get most recent apps.
I've tried multiple times to hard reset..battery pulls..everything. Someone please help me out. I contacted the previous owner of the phone and he said you just have to press the home button a little harder...that didn't work.
It obviously works because it takes me to a blank screen and allows me to access the most recent apps..but it won't actually take me home.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance guys
Considering the Hines button is capacitive, pushing harder does nothing.
Is the phone rooted or stock?
If stock, try to Odin fresh stock. If rooted, try a different rom
Try installing a different launcher such as Adw, launcher pro or zeam to see if the problem goes away.
Now it does have a crack, but I don't think thats the problem because when I press it it still takes me to a blank screen so it must work.
And he gave me those options..and said it was semi-rooted? Considering I just came fresh from a Moto Droid I really know nothing about the process. Is Odin like SBF? I just want to have the phone in its original state to see if I even like it first..

I would second this suggestion. Often, launchers can have individual settings for what the home button does (i.e., with Go Launcher EX, the home button can be set to take you to your home screen, and if already on your home screen, pressing the home button will open up a shortcut, app, preview homescreens, etc.). So, by installing another launcher, it my clear away whatever setting is on the phone you got (i.e., launching a blank screen). Another option would be to go into your Setting > Manage Applications, and find your default launcher. Open it, and then "Clear Defaults."
Alright I got it to work by restoring completely with odin and changing the home screen launcher.
Thanks guys! It's much appreciated

[Q] Folders

Ok, I've had this thing for about 3 weeks. Upgraded it to Vegantab 7.1 Gingerbread.
I have downloaded a number of apps and the home screen is completely full. I tried a couple of apps that claim to let you create folders, but none of the actually work. The common thread is that they ask you to long press and empty spot on the home screen at some point and when I do that, nothing happens.
Is this some limitation of the hacked version of Gingerbread? Or is there some way to fix the issue?

Make sure you're long pressing on an unoccupied spot on the home screen. It might not work if your long pressing between two apps. Swipe to an empty home screen and try there. Good luck.
Thanks for your reply. I am definitely pressing in a completely open area.
I also cannot swipe--I assume you mean like changing pages on an iPhone. Didn't know that was possible on this thing.

[HELP] Nova Launcher issues. Says widgets are malfunctioning, even tho they are not

Hi there.
After the last big update to Nova some weeks ago, this started (see attached SS).
Have anyone tried it before? Sometimes it just appears; this time after I played on N64oid. Another weird thing is that sometimes I can just press System Settings (top right corner) and then press the Nexus 7 home button, and then it sends me back to the home screen, like nothing was ever wrong.
I have tried removing the widgets and replacing them afterwards! It removes the problem, but it returns after a while again.
I'm on JB - Paranoid android 2.56; Franco kernel.
Someone know what to do? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem on Note 2 with stock Image, but rooted.
Did you find any solution for this?
I think the problem could be to many widgets or a specific widget that makes the problem.
A reboot solves the problem for me but just for a short time. I did not find any way to reproduce the problem, it seems to be coming up by chance...
I have 22 widgets at the moment, the most are coming because I am useing "App Quarantine" a lot...

few things are bugging me

hi guys i hope this is posted in the right section.... my appolagies if its not!!
Ive just installed "XXEMA2CodecROM105BlackEdition1" on my samsung galaxy s3 and i think its the best rom to date!!! but there are3 things that are bugging me:
1.... i have a locked padlock symbol on the very top rigt of my screen and i have no idea whats its for or how to remove it can anyone help with it?
2...... how can you install fonts from the font pack that comes with the rom i go to install one, it says its been installed and asks for a reboot i say yes and the phone freezes on the loading animation so i have to remove my battery and restart the phone, what am i doing wrong?
3..... i normally use folders for all my different apps but i am not given the option to create new folders is this possible if so how?
apart from that i really cat complain aout the rom.
Many thanks in advance for any help given.....
Ths padlock is a "quick lock" button, instead of pressing the power button to lock the phone.
Don't know anything about the fonts.
Have you tried setting an icon on top of another to make a folder? Sometimes works for roms that I have tried.

YES! but its not that it takes time to GET me to the Home Screen, but the Home Screen itself takes time to load! (really long)

well that is a common problem in the leaked ones. i have that too when ever i multi task. rooting can help you.
Its because TW is kicked out if memory being a background app whilst another app is in use, if you go back to 4.1 you can use either JKay's framework or xposed app settings lock touchwiz home in memory (xposed may work on the leak I'm not 100% sure) however keep in mind this will affect multitasking a bit.

How to lock applications with JKay?
