I was trying t update my Z ultra HK version to .510 firmware using flashboot method.I managed that , but the new firmware gave me constant reboots so i decided to go back to my last HK firmware. The flashing completed ok with flashboot , i did a repair with PC companion but when the phone booted again during NGC update ? (i think all seemed chinese to me ) the phone when off with no signs of life. It does not even charge.

What exactly do you mean by SEUS not.?Thanks
it means that PC Companion (PCC) needs the phone to be on, while SonyEricsson Update Service (SEUS) does not need it to be on.

The fact that the red light shows up is a good sign at least.
Anyway, have you installed the proper drivers, and disabled firewall for the app?
When I used it for my wife's Z it worked, a bit slow, but it worked.
Did you keep the Vol-Down pressed while inserting the USB cable and until the program tells you to release it?
It's some sort of deep-communication that goes way before booting Android, so it has to work...
I repeat, my wife Z showed the led light and went off in like 2 seconds, then I followed the procedure on SEUS and it all worked (with patience, it has to download the whole FW).
EDIT: oh, theoretically you have to have at least 50% of battery, if it doesn't work again try to leave it charging for a couple of hours (even if it doesn't seem to be charging, you never know) and then retry...

I tried for at least 20 times with great patience but it never recognised the phone I followed your advice and i left the phone on the charger overnight.Today no red light completely dead.Maybe the damage is irreversible.
Thanks anyway

Ok, i assume you installed the right drivers for your PC, since it is the first prerequisite.
I don't personally know how could you have bricked the device without doing something on the system, and even then, the SEUS is (almost) always capable of reviving a dead phone for those causes.
If I were you I'd go to the next Sony repair centre, but first I'd try on another computer, maybe on WinXp where rarely something goes wrong regarding drivers and such.
If you do have another computer, try a fresh install of drivers and SEUS, and try again.
Something tells me that red led shouldn't light up if the phone was completely dead...

your primary aim now is getting the battery fully charged - original mains charger is best, keep trying with a combination of volume down connect USB or volume up connect USB, it will eventually charge, also check the USB connector on the phone for possible damage - it has been known to happen if you try to force the plug the wrong way round
Once you have the phone fully charged then connect to PC running SUS and do an update repair
If USB is damaged then Sony repair center is next

When i put the charger in i am getting a blinking red light , i don't know if it is charging but i will leave it there for couple of hours and then i ll try again.
blinking red light is usually a hardware failure of some kind but I wouldn't rule out software either, the fact that it's doing something means it's getting power so USB is ok
I've got to ask this - did you have it in water recently ?
If all the water detectors under the flaps are white and you still cannot get it sorted then return it to Sony Service Center for repair
Leave it on Charge for a few hours and see if the light turns to solid red, I think you will sort it if you keep at it
As mentioned above SUS does not need the phone powered on but can be a bit hit and miss when connecting it when instructed to do so with the volume down button
---------- Post added at 12:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:56 AM ----------
From Sony support - the blinking red led might just be low battery indicator, anyway read below
If this happens to anyone one of you please check the following.
1. Press and hold down the power key on the right side of the phone. If the battery status LED flashes red, try plugging the charger into the phone at the same time as you are pressing and holding in the power key.
When plugging the charger into the phone there is a risk that nothing happens – no red battery status LED as indication of charging, or nothing appearing on the screen.
If the charging doesn’t start, follow the instructions under To let the charger be plugged in for 24 hours.
2. If the charging starts, keep charging the phone until it’s fully charged. Indication of charging is that the battery status LED lights up in red, or that the SONY symbol appears on the screen and then the LED lights up.
3. Update the phone software using PC Companion, Sony Bridge for Mac or Update service. If no update is available, use Repair mode in PC Companion.
This should fix the problem.
To let the charger be plugged in for 24 hours
1. Plug the charger into the phone, and let it be plugged in for 24 hours. There will be no indication of charging, since the battery is discharging during this step.
2. Disconnect the charger from the phone, and wait for 20 seconds.
3. Plug the charger into the phone again. The battery should now start charging. It may take some time before any indication of charging appears (the battery status LED lights up in red, and shines continuously).
4. Let the phone charge until it’s fully charged. Then follow the instruction to update the phone software in step 3 found in section above.
5. If the phone doesn’t charge, send it for service.

I don't think you're supposed to push power+up while connecting, instead I clearly remember keeping pushed the down button while inserting the cable...

I understand that volume up + power is meant to reset the phone.
I am connecting the phone while keep the volume down button pressed. But instead of entering flashboot mode , the red light on my device lights on for three seconds , then is going off and the above circle starts

You definetly have a battery problem here. For some reason your battery is dead or maybe its misconnected and can only powerup with cable. But for flashing you need alittle battery.power
Idk where you are living but try to take your phone to a official service/repair center. They should be able to help you AND if the phone does not power up nobody can check if unlocked already or not.
The flashing with Flashtool or SUS has to work ALWAYS since it is implemented in bootloader and normally the bootloader does not get touched while flashing roms and playing with partitions. Thats the reason Sony phones are called nearly unbrickable....
Hope you get it running somehow.

I'm having exactly the same problem...
Phone is stuck on SONY logo but doesn't proceed further. Left it overnight (plugged in) and suddenly it booted.
Now it's stuck again... I think it may b a ROM issue.

Take your battery for at least 5 seconds.
Put it back again.
Press back button and connect the cable with the back button pressed.
Then start fota unbrick.
Try it several times.
Sometimes and thats weird the computer as problems connecting to phone.
I warrant you that the thing works and you are with the right problem.
Your trim area is damaged.
Thanks! I've tried like 50 times, and nothing, the ennoing "sony ericsson" is booting (no sony ericsson logo as usualy, just the writing) I flashed 10 times in the past whith no problem. I've pulled out the batery, and begined flashing it with flash tool(no green led). The flashing started and my little brother accidentaly pulled out the Usb cable; that's the whole story! I've tried like 100 times with wotan, flash tool and FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick, no result, even if pc companion tells me "phone conected" and gives me further instructions whith the phone being dead, and the flash tool showing me to connect de device... Look, read carefully.
You can´t have that log, this log shows that your phone is connected (powered on).
Withou green line you re not ready to go.
Just follow as I´ve writted before.
Battery of for 5 secs. take the back button and plug the cable. After that you must run fota unbrick.
then just flash and your phone should be good.
If not PM and I give you another solution.
Thank you again! I tried, my phone was bricked before, but I've managed every time to get into the flash mode, and flashing it succesfully. This time is bad, i pulled the batery out for hours, coonect the batery-nothing happens, push the back button-nothing happens, While holding the back button-conect the usb port to pc-after 3-4 secs, that "sony ericsson" screen apears (no green logo, just the writting) no green led, somehow pc companion tells me i'm "connected" and shows me further steps, but on the phone it's just that "se" writting. No mather how bricked was my phone before, It allways got into the flash mode (1-4tries) I even reinstaled Windows, drivers, hope I want damage the usb port of the phone Have a great day!
Hello, few months ago I tried flashing my phone (i've flashed succesfully several times rom, kernel, etc) but my usb cable disconected during flash proces, at the begining. My phone was bricked, no flash mode, nothing. I took the phone to a service, and they managed to repair it. They flashed the rom, the phone works, but I Cannot manage to get it into flash mode. I tried a milion times, every mode posible, no green led, the phone boots into...charging(I fallowed all the steps, disconecting battery, waiting for 10 minutes, back button an then the usb cable) When I connect the cable: no green led, black screen...after a few seconds: "sony erricson", then charging. Please help, thank you in advance!!! Sorry for my bad english.

What's important is what you were actually flashing when the USB cable was disconnected. Were you flashing a new recovery?

no way, I've lost the "blue led" and now (last 6 months) no green led, pc companion tells me that the phone contains modified content; the bootloader is still unlocked, i've checked

Try menu button at the same time as you connect the USB cable (more or less the same time, anyway). I seem to remember me doing this same error when "back" wasn't the actual button used but "menu" (to the right) was. Try all three buttons for good measure and see if you manage to get a blue LED. You should be able to.
But maybe if you phone was in repair...they locked again your phone bootloader?

No, they didn't, "bootloader unlocked=yes"
Hi there,
yesterday I tried to root my new Tablet Z (16GB, LTE, Model: SGP321, Firmware: 10.4.B.0.569) and it doesn't start since then.
I used an ubuntu live CD for all these tasks because fastboot doesn't work on my win 8.1 and my debian wheezy didn't have the libc-dev needed in its repositories (didn't want to mess with packets that weren't yet integrated into my OS).
What I did:
unlock the bootloader according to http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
I followed the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/how-to-root-10-4-b-0-569-t2590781
a few annotations to this:
the firmware rar didn't include a "Recover.zip", so I used the boot.img directly inside the firmware rar
although sony and this CM tutorial use the "-i" parameter of fastboot, I didn't use it because it wasn't used by the tutorial
after I did the "fastboot reboot" step, the device wasn't listed anymore when typing "fastboot devices", which, I think, is okay since the device should restart then.
I think it didn't really restart, because the LED on the side glew red.
I tried to turn on the tablet but it didn't do anything (the LED kept glowing red).
I tried holding vol up and power for a few seconds (until the LED blinked first once and then three times) but the tablet wouldn't do anything except for the LED glowing red. at somepoint, the LED would turn off (I think that happened when I hold vol up and power for more than 10 sec).
I was able to let it glow red again by pressing vol up and power again and release the vol up button before the power button.
I also tried to use the PC companion on my windows machine to repair the tablet but the tablet wasn't even recognized (either using the fastboot-procedure by holding vol up while connecting the tablet nor normal plugging in...)
any ideas what I could do next?
Same Problem!
Hey wullxz!
I have the same problem. Red LED most of the time, and I cannot make ANY USB connection to the PC. The tablet won't show up in the device manager. So obviously cant use flashtool, nor PC companion. Ive tried all this volume up and down button stuff, but simply cannot get it to show up on the computer.. Tried a different USB cable as well.. Same issue. The USB port is definitely not broken. Its brand new..
Have you found any solution ? Or anyone else? Mine just got back from Sony Repair.. they wont fix it cuz they detected that Ive tampered with the original software.... meaning Warranty Lost!
Great!
hi,
i also sent mine to sony for a repair. i wrote that i did a firmware update and the tablet wouldn't boot afterwards.
i didn't try the bootloader-unlock again afterwards.
Help Needed!
Tablet Z with unlocked bootloader and rooted 10.1.C.0.370
My issues occured after a downgrade to 4.1.2.
I CAN:
1) Start my tablet, everything normal...
2) Charge my tablet
3) Go into safe mode
4) Go into fastboot mode (solid BLUE LED)
5) Use the memory card and use root apps (maybe this could help restore?)
I CAN NOT:
1) Get my PC to recognize that a USB device is connected. Neither in Mass Storage mode, Media mode, nor fastboot mode.
- Tried with several cables and computers (this is not a driver issue, since it won't show up at all in device manager)
- Flashtool obvious;y says, no device connected
2) Get in to flashmode: device blinks red for about half a second, then green for half a second, and then LED is off. Nothing recognized via USB on PC
3) Get into recovery mode
4) Update over WIFI (fails because unlocled bootloader I suppose)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
i think you should open a new thread for your problem because it seems like it's not really similar to my issue.
you should get more/better replies in an own thread.

let it charge to 100%, check for flashmode drivers installed and then try attaching it to pc only when flashtool asks you to do it.

Hey thanks for your reply... It wont go into flashmode... Theres something fundamentally wrong.. I cant figure out what... I leave it plugged in for 48 hours..but it doesnt really get full.. the most Ill get the orange LED.. like 50%... now its on since about 12 hours.. no LED on at all... strange..
But yea.. no flashmode... Nothing showing up when connecting the USB cable... nothing in device manager..and therefore flashtool sees nothing!
SOLVED
Problem solved! I can't believe it. Two bad(?) USB cables. Bought a new one, charges fine, flashmode fine. Flashed stock ROM.
However the Camera still doesn't work. Maybe the problem of the cable inside which may have come loose!
So I got these micro-USB to magnetic charger adapters off eBay. Bad idea.
I plugged it into the phone, saw the green charging LED come on.
Put my phone down, the next thing I know, my screen is off, all LEDs are off...
Now I can't turn my phone on, can't charge it in the dock.
When I connect to wall power (via microusb/charging port, NOT magnetic) I get the LED rapidly blinking. After some time (estimate >10 min), the LED turns off.
If I connect to computer, the LED will stay on solid red for 3 seconds, turn off briefly, stay on 3 seconds, turn off briefly. Looking in device manager this seems to coincide with the devices refreshing...? Windows noticed the phone was connected but doesn't actually recognize it.
I had previously had unlocked bootloader and root. Now fastboot just says "waiting for device"
Tried holding down power and volume up.
Tried going into fastboot holding volume up when connecting to computer.
Tried holding down power button (with a paper clip) several times (for up to 60 seconds).
What's going on!? What should I do?! Help! I just got this phone a week ago
Power connected around the wrong way? That could have damaged the power circuit ...

Yeah exactly what Blue said. However there is a circuit in your device that stops damage happening. This circuit is replaceable.
But even if this was damaged it would still charge. It just wouldn't detect when your device was charging or not.
So what you describe would seem more severe. What voltage was the AC running?
It would be very rear to over volt a smartphone (although it can happen)
1) Try leaving it on charge (even if no LED's are on) for an hour.
2) Then hold the red power off button.
3) enter fastboot mode, plugging in the micro USB.
4a) open flash tool and flash another FTF
(you will get to a part on flashtool saying connect a device)
4b) try to enter fastboot mode on your device over and over again. (while watching the screen of your laptop to see when it gets connected)
It may just work.
I remember helping another user have the same problem when he thought it was wrecked due to power spike. He managed to get flashtool to detect it even though it showed no screen image. Then it was right as rain again.
Worth a try
The USB was plugged into computer

I've successfully unlocked the bootloader, and while installing different firmware version for the root, flashmode suddenly disconnected, resulting in interrupted installation. And right now, I cannot enter neither into Fastboot or Flashmode. Plugged in device just has red light regardless of any button combination. Flashtool recognizes the device ID but I cannot proceed anywhere either. PC has all the drivers, however Flashtool does not detect fastboot/adb interface drivers. Ideas?
I had same issue with my 3111 And couldn't find any solution. I ve sent to service I hope it won't cost me too much.
I'm regret of unlock my bootloader... hope you can find a solution

Try to hold "vol+" and "power" for 8-9sec and release, hold "vol-" and plug USB. Or try to plug USB, hold "vol-" for one minute. The led is green if OK to flash.

Sadly that did nothing. Is there a way to somehow return fastboot/flashmode to the phone? Or my best course of action is replacing the motherboard or something.

Are you sure your battery level is good? A bootloop can drain the battery quickly (you can't see the bootloop on the screen but it is here) I bricked my phone many times with bad kernels and boot and it always revive. You are not the first who bricked his device, I will make a video to show and explain how to unbrick XA (same for Ultra) after a bad boot.img flash but not before the next week.

I'd gladly unbrick it myself if only I could get into fastboot/flashmode. Which is gone. Thats the problem here.
I've also considered the battery being dead from invisible bootloops (which is consistent with the phone not turning on at all), but leaving it charge for a couple of hours did not let me access fastboot/flashmode either.

I've sent mine to the first repair store who knew what I was talking about regarding the phone problem. The repair will cost 35eu. I have no idea what they said they're going to do, but I guess a new system will be sideloaded from inside the hardware or something.
