That will be due to the extra hypo-tentional field force caused by the EMF differential residual flux shift as a result of the heightened olfactory awareness of your cologne!
Nah, you're an antennae!

This happens with ALL phones, some just not as bad as the others. I don't have signal problems with my Mega just occasional signal drops caused by full grip when gaming but not bad enough to drop calls.
ok got it
then i need to fix my modem
because i have to restart my phone everynow and then because in the middle of the day the call drops and when i call my phone , it gives me a ring but my phone does not show anything
i restart the phone then it goes normal

I have similar problems with poor network reception. Its way worse then my S3 and S4 and where I use to have low reception I have none with the Mega. And it also seem to randomly lose the reception all together and regains it within about a minute, happens several times aday.
Was thinking of returning the phone cuz it shouldnt be this bad.
plz help

Ive installed a custom rom now and will try it out.

did you try the new roms?
Exact same problem here
I just bought this phone yesterday
Signal seems to fade in and out
All I've done so far is rooted it.
Still stock rom, still stock recovery
Is it hardware or software?
Do we need to flash the radio???
Never seen a phone do this before.

Hey Gang.
Last night I noticed that my phone didn't have full signal (4 bars) in my house. This is the first time since I've had the phone.
After playing with it for a while I noticed that if change from 3G to Edge then my signal strength goes from 1-2 bars (-110db) back up to 4 bars (-73 db).
I'm not sure if that's normal behavior. I've also noticed the the phone gets hotter than normal when transferring data via 3G and the battery drains like crazy (lost 50% charge over 2 hours of testing this morning).
I called my provider (Rogers - I'm just north of Toronto) this morning and they say that the one tower in my area seems to be working fine.
I did a factory reset using SEUS but still have the same problem.
Any ideas? I thought I'd try to reseat the antenna but I can't find the damn thing.

Of course after all we are all here to help yeah?
So after driving around and visiting the local Rogers shop, it appears to be a tower issue. Looks like the phone was working fine in the store and in town. I called tech support and they're sending someone out to the tower near my house. (<1 km or 1.6mi from my house). There was a power outage yesterday so that my have caused a problem. I'll post an update in a few days after Rogers checks the tower out. I'm hoping it's that. I'm thinking the extra heat may have been from the phone cracking up the antenna to try to connect. I remember someone say that in low signal areas their batteries drain fast.
no I love my sgs2 and so does every that holds it, ive a major issue that i thought was caused by switching from orange uk to o2 uk, but as it happens i have full signal when the phone is rested down... however when i pick it up it drops signal... more often than not the signal completely drops out as does the call and sometimes it just goes down to 1 bar... does anyone else have this problem? ive tried my o2 sim and my orange sim its the same for both... is it possible i have a defective handset ? weak radio ???
heres my quick vid to show you what i mean, apologies for the video quality... filmed on my bb9700

well the GSM and 3G antenna looks to be located in the bottom, back part of the device. so this seems like the exact place your hand would be covering when holding the phone, so i can easily see some significant signal attentuation happening with this phone.
i dont know where the antenna was located on the original galaxy s. but all phones i own always have attentuation. not much you can do about it i'd guess.
Applies to all wireless devices - signal transmits worse through your hand than through empty air. Rules of the universe.
However, I can't seem to replicate what you're seeing. In order for bars to drop, I have to block the entire bottom of my device using both hands. Holding it in one hand doesn't seem to be causing a drop for me.
But again : air > hand for signal transmission.

That's right, quick start guide shows the location of the antenna. If you look at the back of the device, the antenna is in the lower left hand corner, opposite the speaker.
When holding the device in your right hand, it should rest in your palm.
Actually holding the device in my right hand doesn't seem to be affecting my signal though, for some reason. I might just be in an area with good signal though (3 bars of h+, stays at 3 bars when holding it in 1 hand, drops to 1 bar when covering the device completely with 2 hands, and then changes to edge with full bars).
I just tested with my S2 and I had no problems whatsoever.
See my youtube channel (../user/Poppefieke) Can't post links yet.
I have some other S2 video's there too
i think sampullen who has been posting quite a few vids on youtube is going to cover this now too, see i hold my sgs2 in my left had for holding when im surfing etc but also when im on calls...
its good to hear some of you cannot replicate this, maybe mines faulty might try to exchange for a new 1 just to be on the safe side
OMG!
can more people confirm if this is real?
is it as bad as the antenna-gate issue from apple or no where as bad
Hey (samjpullen) here
I have been doing the tests like Sticky and have been getting some rather conflicting results to say the least.
I am not in the best area for Orange so i get a weak signal most of the time, when i do the test infront of my iMac and extra screen with the TV, Sky (you know the drill) on it seems to drop down from H with 1 bar, then down to 3G then down to G and then it can jump onto the Edge network (rathe strange)
But when i do this same test in other rooms e.g bathroom, other bedroom, even downstairs with the tv etc on it is fine!
So my guess is that it might be my rooms location and maybe all the electrical equipment within a small space.

I just noticed that when I put my hand around the bottom of the phone my signal drops by 2-3 bars and as soon as i remove it, it goes back up. I can do it over and over again. Just out of curiosity I tried this with my evo 4g and the signal doesn't change. I've seen a bunch of people reporting that their reception isn't as good as other phones with the 3d. could it be the antenna placement just like the iphone 4?

I would recommend getting a bumper...
No, for real though, the iphone had the issue because the antenna was built into the actual outside of the phone, when your skin touched it, it would change the attenuation which caused the issue of poor reception. Our antenna is totally internal so this would not happen.
I think your holding it wrong. Seriously though I just did the same and was unable to recreate the issue. Might be defective.

I have this problem too... Anybody claiming they don't have this problem are in a good coverage area. If you download the app open signal maps you can see the drop in dbm once you hold the device, it's very irritating
Mine does it to, very annoying.
I saw somewhere in another thread that the radio antenna is indeed on the bottom of the 3d. Dont know if thats confirmed or not. But it would explain the drop when covered by hands.

61% with nothing touching my phone.
70% with my hand covering the bottom.
56% with both hands around the phone.
I fail to see how this is like apple because EVERY PHONE loses signal when being touched. The problem with Apple's was that it dropped the calls.

Yes, without anything it's at 80% and once I grab it it drops to 30%. The antenna does seem to be at the bottom unlike the 4G which was on the top.
And calls drop all the time.

My problem is that if I cover the upper part but well I almost never do that.
This needs to be recognized as a known issue since it has been brought up many times
I noticed the same thing but wierd thing is sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't.
I could recreate it for 15 tries in a row but then I closed the internet browser and moved the phone a couple inches and the problem stopped.
I will keep monitoring the signal while I grab the phone and see what happens. But yes it did happen when I grabbed the bottom.
Mine does it too...this is the only problem I have

Its not a "known issue". It just so happens that this is a cell phone. Which has antennas. Which, when covered, loose reception. No way around that. Its the nature of cell phones.
Comparatively its like complaining that when in a lead lined room, you have poor reception.

The iphone issue was caused by them leaving the antenna exposed on the outside of the phone. Whenever you would touch it in a certain spot it would short it out and you would lose the signal.

While it may not be exactly like the iphone, could it be similar in the fact the antenna placement isn't optimal? I think that most people hold their phones toward the bottom where the antenna is where as on other phones like the evo 4g they wouldn't be covering the antenna by doing this. I just know I've seen quite a few complaints regarding reception so this could be a feasible reason why.
I have been using the phone for 2 days now and I observed the following problems:
1. The WiFi signal is weak. I mean in the areas where my HTC Desire or iPhone 4 has one signal bar, the RAZR XT910 has no signal
2. The device does not wake-up sometimes. I have to press the power button several times. I guess this is lag from the android OS.
3. I have got some lags and errors from the android OS these two days. Hope some updates will come.
Please reply if you have similar issues with your device, especially the first two points.
Any 3G/UMTS problems?
I cant connect to 3G only EDGE.
I cant see 3G networks.

I have an optus razr
I have none of the issues you are experiencing. The 'low' wifi signal strength is probably caused because you are connected to a wireless-g router. The razr is capable of wireless-n . I always get full signal bars connected to my 'n' router and 2-3 bars on my 'g' router.
No issues using the power button to turn the phone on/off. No lag in the interface. Miss my optical trackpad from my desire though
My router is wireless-n. I have just checked with the router and it have the weakest from all my mobiles.
Anyone else with this problem?
Try to set your router to support a/b/g + n WiFi. Sometimes WiFi chips can behave very strange.
the router is set to support a/b/g + n WiFi. I have htc desire with g Wi-Fi. the problem comes from the razr wifi.
okay so, I'm back on XDA Developers after owning an iPhone 3, 3Gs and 4 for a couple years (after I moved on from my old Nexus One) and I've had the RAZR for a couple days..
an issue I ran into on the first day of owning it, was constant rebooting when the phone was put to sleep.. I couldn't figure out what the issue was apart from that it only occurred when I was connected to wifi at home (didn't happen when I was connected to wifi anywhere else or when wifi was switched off)... so I went back to the store I got it from for a replacement.. hoping that the phone wasn't going to encouter the same rebooting issues, to my bad luck, it kept happening.. so I thought that maybe it wasn't just because I got myself a dud (both times)...
so today I did some diagnosing the issue which I localised to being my router settings... and luckily enough, it WAS the configuration of my router... I tried to see what the differences were between my configurations at home, and that of the wifi routers at work...
So apparently, the RAZR doesn't like the following (could be just one of them, or a combination of both):
- SSID Not Broadcasting (i.e. Hidden SSID's)
- MAC Address Filtering.
So I unhid my SSID and now it's broadcasting, and I also turned off MAC Address Filtering and using WPA security instead.. Now the phone doesn't constantly reboot. Just odd that the phone doesn't like those settings. Anyways, just happy the phone doesn't constantly reboot when put to sleep.
Hopefully these details help anyone else who ends up running into the rebooting issues when put to sleep.
Have a same problems with my RAZR. But all my wi-fi network is hidden and wpa2 personal secured, but phone randomly rebooting only at work.
home router - time capsule (apple)
work router - d-link DIR320.
P.S. if i disable wifi on phone- no rebooting at all.
Raze phone issues
I have a Razr sourced from Mobicity in Australia, bought from them to avoid the Optus bloat. I love this phone it is a gorgeous piece of kit, big beautiful screen, fast etc. BUT twice in the last two days I have received phone calls, answered them, and the caller was unable to hear me. And ultimately I need this to be a reliable phone first and a gorgeous bit of kit second.
Anybody else suffering similar problems. I hav had to revert back to my iphone4 because I have to have a reliable phone for work. I'd love to find the issue and am open to any suggestions. I am on Telstra by the way.
Ok. Problems I have encountered the 2 days I have used the phone:
Constant freeze. The first hour I used the phone it froze and rebooted 7 or 8 times.
Missing SocialLocation.apk. This caused a problem for the GPS in smart actions to work at all. Rooted phone and installed the app, and problem disappeared.
Tried to hard reset the phone because of all the rebooting problems. Guess what, on the first menu coming up where you can choose language, the phone froze and rebooted again. Now still it is constantly freezing and rebooting.
The freezing issues does not really have one specific app causing it. It can happen whenever doing whatever!
Anyone got a solution for this? Maybe a OTA update for Norwegian model?
For anyone mentioning the loss of WiFi signal, i think its suffering from what the iPhone 4 did, its dependant on where you hold the phone, i think the WiFi receiver on the phone is right about where youd hold the phone (in the middle at the back of the phone)
I noticed i was getting the dropping of signal bars, so decided to test it out, holding the phone normally the bars would drop 1 maybe 2 (in my living room where my desire gets full bars) then held it around the edges of the phone and instantly got full bars again.
I cant say this IS the problem you lot are having, but i definitely find holding the phone a little differently from what i normally do makes a huge difference for me.
Anyway just my 2 pence, hope this helps some of you guys.

I have problem 1 and 2 and weak wi-fi even when the phone is on my desk (not touching it with my hands that is)
1、yes, the wifi is weak
2、when the phone is being charging, sometimes I press the power button it wakes but go dark quickly, and I have to press the button again
I'm on my second Razr right now. My first had the blotches on the screen when using a black background. My second Razr has an unresponsive touchscreen a few times a day. I used to assume that my phone was locking up, but it went to sleep when I pressed the power button, and woke up with a working touchscreen. It will also respond to volume and screen rotation, just no touchscreen until you sleep/wake it.

Maybe you have pocket detection enabled, and when you put your hands in front of the sensor the phone screen shuts off, you don't even need to put your hands in front of the screen, sometimes all you need is to make a shadow in front of the sensors and you will see the phone screen shut off.
Happened to me sometimes, but i knew right away it was pocket detection shutting off the screen.
Thank God i have no complains at all about my phone, maybe a the wifi weakness problem, but for me it still have a very good speed at home on wifi, so don't care about the bars at all.
Alright, I read the review on this phone and, after having the GalaxyS 1, I thought trying an HTC would be a great idea as my GS1 had extreme screen burn in; which led me to opt for an HTC instead of GS2 - the cheaper alternative of course.
I was pretty happy with this phone. Somewhat smaller than what I expected, though it runs fairly well with ICS and HTC Sense loaded.
Now the ridiculous issue. This phone has a severe case of 'death grip'. I've had quite a couple of frustrating weeks trying to figure out what on earth was causing the signal to drop completely from 2 or 3 bars to dead, when picking the phone up to text.
Before I considered googling 'hand signal absorb htc', or similar keywords to that effect, I tested my theory by holding the phone at the top two edges and then in my palm again; in the same position both times. The result? 5 bars to two bars, or even in some cases one bar. The signal where I live isn't excellent, however it's not terrible either. With my GS1 having no issue with signal drops. Just holding the Desire X in the palm of my hand, under the table results in complete signal loss.
This is an absolute joke. I've missed really important phone calls and the majority of sms's arrive late due the lovely signal loss regain repetition, essentially causing the phone do not receive calls, even though, provided it does have 3 or so bars.
So, am I the only one here who has this issue, or for that matter; a faulty phone? Really Really disappointed.
I do have a signal drop problem as I already wrote on another post and nobody answer:
"I have a lot of signal drops on GSM/EDGE and also 3G/HDSPA? The signal is full but, the phone is in stand by, the signal drops and I loose calls. Does anyone have this problem?
Also I noticed when the phone switches from 3G to GSM/EDGE first I have a no signal period (couple of seconds)."
I also had this problem with an LG Optimus 2x when updated to Android 4.0.4.

Sounds like a faulty antenna. Either that or you have lead hands.
It should be a cheap fix at any local repair shop or free if you take it back to the shop for a replacement.

What I don't understand is, when i'm on an actual phone call, there's no issue with quality or signal loss. Sounds like the phone rom is preserving the antennas power in idle mode?
