Late, but finally update 12070 has arrived on the Lumia 800 for Orange/T-Mobile users, so start updating and if you're on the Singapore FW, I suggest you recover from backup and update.
Stupid Orange/T-Mobile, always late.
Still no update
Still no update for me
I have an unbranded Lumia 800 cyan from Phones4U on Orange but no update available in Zune despite Nokia Europe saying that it's available for my model (059M539 Country Variant). I swapped my Orange sim for a Vodafone sim to see if that did anything. . . nothing. recovered a backup in Zune and updated the OS again, but still no Firmware update to 12070.
If it doesn't come soon I'll take it to Nokia Care next time we're in Glasgow as this battery life is terrible (although seemed slightly better on the Vodafone sim!)
I didn't really want to start looking at the other methods I've seen of updating Just wanted to get it officially in Zune!
On searching the issue, I've seen a lot of users of 059M539 code have also not been getting the upgrade.
Same here, same model nr. Cyan Lumia from Phones4U, Orange Sim, also from Glasgow.
Oddly enough I have the latest OS version, just not the latest firmware version. Now that the volume bug is fixed I'm tempted to force a flash bypassing Zune.

Cyan models are delayed for some reason, but it should have arrived by now. Get in contact with Phones4U, see if they have any dates, since it is a batch of theirs.
Got sick of waiting so I used the update tool
Initial findings, it has improved the battery, can easily get a full day even with quite a lot of use!

I've never heard of retailers blocking updates before? However, it does seem possible as I'm seeing several reports of that specific product no not updating. Note that Nokia specifically lists it as having an update available since pretty much day 1 of the firmware being made public. I've posted a query on P4U's forum. Should have known better than to buy from those muppets, but they were the only ones at the time that had the cyans. Someone I know wants the white Lumia 710, but it's another P4U exclusive
mlaidlaw, did you update directly to 12072 with the volume bug fix, or still 12070?

I actually updated to 12070 first, then realised I could also upgrade to 12072, so used the same process again and now have 12072 working fine.

Maybe the Cyan's are delayed because it takes several months to make sure the Nokia Blue theme is still there?

Yep, I mocking how the blue plastic makes my phone somehow ineligible for software updates.
On a more serious query, does having an Orange Sim in my unbranded model phone mean that Orange still has to approve my firmware versions? I'd assume that Carriers only have a say over their branded variants?
I'm still baffled how a specific subset of a particular product code (a product code that has had the upgrade available from the day of announcement according to the Nokia sit) is being left behind? Apple really does get some things right, not letting the Carriers dictate software updates.

No, if you have unbranded you can get the updates for unbranded devices
Yes, Nokia pushed the update, but Orange (one step further) blocked it again It's possible... Unfortunately.
Ok - So I have a Lumia 920 on EE (and before people launch into any rants - I'm happy with the contract - I switched from Voda RED to the EE unlimited mins/Text/3GB data and its 6 quid cheaper than the Vodafone plan for iPhone - It does for me) ...
What is worrying is the Datasense app is missing. It was in all the pre release reviews and is listed here on the Windows phone site http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8/start/use-data-sense-to-track-data-usage but can I find it for the Lumia - No.
Anyone have any idea where I can get the app ?

Not in the Nokia Lumia 920 User Guide
Hi all
There is no mention of Data Sense in the Nokia Lumia 920 user guide.
There is also no mention of it in the HTC 8X user guide.
It looks like it's either missing from all Windows Phone 8 devices or OEMs have the option of removing it.
I can only imagine the feature would be very unpopular with network providers, who OEM are primarily selling to.
Oh, well, that's one for innovation!
God bless

OEM's have to want it included. So far only Verizon in the US has implemented it and microsoft says more will opt to add it in, when 2013 comes around.
I wonder if someone can figure out how to add it onto any WP8 device without OEM approval

Any update on this - has anyone got it on EE yet ??:crying:
data sense only works if the carrier supports it. At the moment, it seems that Verizon US is actively supporting data sense, just waiting until other carriers actually support the function and push out an OTA to enable datasense on our phones :|

HTC 8x has started getting updates of the new OS. Any news on when Lumia phones will get the update?
No news, but I assume quite fast for unlocked phones. Rest are subject to carriers I assume.

Supposed to be able to bypass the carriers. But considering this is the first update pushed, I'm sure we'll learn more soon.

Bypass carriers, yes. Bypass OEMs, no
This should mean that we get a 920 update for each "build" of the 920 that exists, once Nokia does whatever they do to it. They should have it from Microsoft (one would think) already.

They will have it already, and it's in Nokia's interests to get it out fast and ideally beat HTC to the punch every time, as HTC have been set up as Premier Partners. Nokia want to be THE choice for WP8 buyers, so they need to be there first with the best reputation for updates and excellent hardware.
Nokia obviously has that build available because the Lumia 920T (the chinese variant) is already running that newer build of the OS.
true, must just be waiting for the rollout ok from carriers. I'll check my 8X to see if that's updating on EE, that way we should know if the carriers are slowing things down or not with a quick carrier vs unlocked update speed comparison.
(Groan) I hope it's not the carriers. Pulling teeth with oily fingers is easier than persuading AT&T to release updates in a timely manner. :\

how do you know what rom is a generic one? I have been searching but i haven´t find it yet. can you help me'

Adding to that, does 4G still work on the generic UK ROM, as EE has 4G specific software bits, e.g. the 3G/2G toggle is now the 4G/3G toggle.
So, since I have a Rogers branded but unlocked phone and running it on Telus, what bucket would I be put in? Would I get the generic updates or the Rogers? My phone STILL says that the Mobile Operator Name is ROG-CA, so I'm not too sure what to make of my situation.

You will be under the mercy of Rogers. In order to get out of Roger's grip, you will need to be de-branded. SIM unlock means nothing. In the old days of WM7.0, you can jailbreak your phone and edit a registry to de-brand. Now, you pretty much have to flash a unbranded ROM to do it.

Same here. Love my 920, esp with T-Mobile...but it's starting to get irritating. They said the rollout finishes mid-March, which means we are technically still in the time frame they gave. However, I just wish one of the reps I talk with could let me know WHEN or IF they plan on updating the developer version. If not, I think I'm going to flash it to Rogers (or sell it and buy an ATT version when they become unlockable).

I don't think the Att versions will work on T-Mobile, and there's no way in hell I would ever be on Att. Our phone should have been the first ones upgraded since they were the first ones released.

Currently I'm on a galaxy s2 skyrocket with AT&T. When I go to class, I use the internet from my phone for my laptop since my phone was rooted, I don't pay any extra or anything and I grandfathered in the unlimited internet. I was wondering if I could do this with a lumia 920. my contract just ended and I need to know this before I buy it

The lumia will actually poll your account and see if tethering is enabled on it. If it is not, the lumia will not allow you to tether.

Could be everything. I don't know. You may lose LTE. Or you could brick your phone altogether if the firmware is not compatible with the AT&T version.
Interesting stuff: I have unlocked Lumia 920 (DevKit I won on MS contest), European version. By arrival, I can't share internet - handset displays standard message "call *611 to enable balh-blah" (BTW, it's stupidest limitation! Greedy bastards from AT&T don't let me share my internet on my own handset, wanna some money for nothing!).
However week later, after installing a bunch of OTA updates from Nokia, one day I've realized - internet sharing is working! I was really happy, tested that option and it works perfect.
But... my happiness didn't last long Two days ago, my Lumia 920 received another OTA from Nokia; after that update, everything "back to normal" (i.e. abnormal!) - same stupid message...

The dev kit 920 is a different story. I have one and knew it well. Out of box, it will not allow tethering to AT&T but if you install any foreign language keyboard that requires a download, it will work. That is until Nokia updates 'Access Point' app. Then, you have to try a different keyboard again or you can just ignore and refuse to update 'Access Point' app.
This is different than AT&T branded 920 where there is no known work arounds.
Hey, man, thanks a lot - trick with installing new keyboard that requires a download (I've installed some Chinese input method and removed right after update) works! I've got my internet sharing back
He-he, DevKits are really great handsets!
BTW, could you share some other tricks (if any)? Like an unlocked bootloader or other way to get interop unlock?

Don't hold your breath. No one has ever managed to unlock the bootloader on any of the lumia series phones.
You can't enable tethering in wp8 without at&t on 920. Unlike on android phone that's rooted.
