[Q] Transferring sms from an old(non android phone) to android - HTC Desire X

My old phone is Sony Ericsson Cedar and I want to transfer all my text messages to my new one - HTC Desire X. I've been looking for a solution to this for a few days now only to come up empty-handed. I tried saving my sms to the sd card but the desire can't read them and I can't even find them in the file explorer. Any ideas?

There is an application preinstalled on your desire x named "transfer" use that for importing contacts, sms etc.

Theres Many apps you can use for this the main one i used was "Sms backup & restore" which is Free in the playstore
You could Also save the desired texts to your sim card and theyll automatically show up on your DesireX

First of all thanks for the quick reply guys.
And now to the point - the "SMS backup and restore" didn't resolve anything since my old phone doesn't even run android. And saving the texts on my sim isn't really an option since my old phone is locked to a different service provider.
And as to sushant's suggestion i would but i'm but the Cedar is not on the supported list and I can transfer only my contacts.

Did you say that can you save the messages to your SDcard ? If so then we can restore or import them from your SDcard later on through a Third party app

no way to keep it from using the memory in your phone. There is a way to store your texts in a excel file and back them up though, which is kinda cool. also gives you other features like, group messaging, who do you text the most, what times of the day do you text the most. pretty cool app. Its called POWER SMS. google it.

Transfer all messages from OLD handset to NEW 1

I recently got a new touch pro from sprint since my last one took a bath in a cup of water. It still works, the screen just won’t stay on and I really need my old messages. I copied the directory: Application data/PictureMail from old to new and it more or less worked fine (lost maybe 2 messages). I tried going in the windows/messaging folder and copying the entire directory to my new phone but it won’t show a single message in my inbox whether in threaded view or standard. Any Suggestions?
the software i use is microsoft myphone but you would have to put it on your old phone and the sync it then put it on the new phone and it will stnc all contacts and text and documents email etc. There are other programs out there that will use your computer to transfer your info to the computer then to the other phone but I havent used it in forever but I found it through google.

transfer messages from pc to optimus black
Hello! I have an lg p970 (optimus black) and i want to transfer messages from pc-suite to my mobile... As i've seen, there's only choice to transfer them from mobile to pc...Is there any other way that i can do it? Thank you in advance

Please help thanks,.. SIM card contacts

Hello Members, I've just starting to get to grips with the XZU. I've also done various Google searches on the info I'm looking for so help would be great thanks.
The problem is I'd like to keep my contacts on the SIM card, and also save them by default to the SIM card, trouble is, if I go to my contacts the only option I can see is to copy them to the phone, if I go to the SMS app and want to add a recipient none of my contacts are shown but if someone calls they appear in the call log with there contact name, so the phone is seeing my contacts in the SIM card.
So all I'd like is to continue to save new contacts to the SIM card, but also have the XZU get it's contact list from the SIM card.
Help would really be great as I'm lost to now know all my numbers (stupid I know).
Regards
Livo
Just to report regarding my post, the answer is 'no', the contacts have to be imported to the phone, this has come from Sony direct, although when the time comes any new contacts should be able to be exported back to the SIM card for future use.
Regards
I think it is an android limitation... I tried on my Galaxy Note (custom JB rom) and my old xperia x10 (custom GB rom).. both of them dont have export to sim option...
Maybe because with the current capabilities of phones, manufacturers dont see the need of saving contacts to SIM anymore...? :what:

How to Recover Deleted Text Messages from Android phone SIM Card?

Have you ever deleted a very important SMS which you regret for the rest of your life? Are you searching for a free SMS recovery Software? If the answer to above questions is Yes then you don’t have to worry anymore as today I will show you how to recover deleted SMS from SIM card or Phone memory.
Mod Edit: Spam removed.
You can use to undelete messages: Sim Recovery Pro. The SIM reader + software price is app more than 100 usd, So I think the better way, go to a phone service.
so glad you took the time to read this is not the correct forum
thanks !
Instead I'd just use 'go pro sms' app and take a backup from its own option to SD card and then import them back once its needed.

What's harder, engineering the Webb telescope or transferring SMS messages?

Every time I get a new phone I am baffled by the fact that no tool exists that can accurately transfer my sms messages to my new phone. "Sure there is, use SMS Backup and Restore"....that is a fantasy... I must be the only one for whom that software is useless given how much people like to recommend it, as I have tried using it many times only to have it restore a mangled up train wreck version of the messages it backed up. Isn't there some way to grab the sms database from the old phone as an intact file and swap it out with the new one, or some other way of that simply puts the messages that were on phone #1 exactly onto phone #2? Why can not even Google do that?
I'm going from chomp sms on a non-rooted pixel 2 running android 11 to chomp sms on a rooted oneplus nord 10 5g running android 11. have thousands of messages in a 2gb file generated by sms backup and restore.
any advice would be greatly appreciated
Hi, do you want to transfer text messages from one Android phone to the other one? If yes, try Coolmuster Mobile Transfer. It allows you to do that easily on the computer via USB cable. It's easy and safe. You just need to install it on your computer, start it. Connect both of the two phones to the same computer via USB cables. It will need you to enable the USB debugging on them when using it. A short time scanning later, you can transfer text messages between them directly. Please do remember that it's not free. Hope this will be your help.
