Hello, I hope someone can help me out here, Samsung's online help sure wasn't a big help. Trying to get my hands on the stock image for the SGH-i857 a got a little over zealous trying to clear out some of the stock APKs and was hoping to roll it back to stock.
If you have a windows machine try downloading Samsung Kies with your DoubleTime connected. Try to update the firmware/software and it should revert it back to stock.
I do have an Odin flashable I can give you if that doesn't work, but I would compress it with 7zip in order to put it on the Forum.

I did try the kids method with no luck, I would love to try the Odin flash for the phone. If you don't feel like uploading it to the forums I'd be happpy to PM you my gmail.
Here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p3dj426vdav4nsp/I857UCKI1-I857UCKI1-I857UCKI1-HOME.tar.md5
I had to put it on Dropbox because it was so big.
It is recommend that you use Odin v1.85, this however is not tested. I might be testing it soon though.
To put a DoubleTime into download mode you need to hold the volume up and powerb button at the same time from a completely off state.
I wish you luck.
Has anyone found a way for fully flashing the double time to stock? I accidentally flashed an update.zip file from another phone and now wifi and bluetooth are not working. Hopes fast answers-

Man, i don't if you're up to date, but the double time has a firmware problem which conflicts with download mode and it's almost impossible to flash it. That's why my question, have you been able to flash? Please, i need help.
PD: i have the stock firmware and have used almost all compatible odin versions with this device without success.

They don't sell the Doubletime around here, so wouldn't have a way to be up to date with it. Why don't you describe what's happening via Odin when trying to flash instead of just saying it didn't work, which is not very helpful.

I didn't realize that the Doubletime was an ATT phone. Have never seen one or had one brought by my shop. *shrug* Is yours ATT branded or GoPhone? It's possible the firmwares aren't compatible between the different versions... Or that being of that vintage Samsung, maybe the program Heimdall might have more luck a la the Samsung Galaxy S 4g from T-Mobile.
Is the version you are trying to install as newer or newer than the current firmware found on the phone?
Tried different cords?
Different ports on the PC?
Does it show up once or twice in the COM boxes of Odin?
Are you running Odin as admin?
Edit: Found other posts on other forums where it gets stuck at the same step, so guess it's a thing. Found in both Chinese and Spanish phone forums.

-Odin always opens with admi rights.
-Yes, i've tried all ports on my pc.
-It's the same firmware.
-It shows just once in COM BOX.
Can you help?
Doesn't seem like there is a readily available solution, as your issue seems to be shared by others without any posted fix I could find here, or in the other phone forums. Sorry. Like I said earlier, you could try the Heimdall tool, but other than that, haven't the slightest. Older Samsungs suck because of issues like this - limited Odin support. Have you tried Kies too?

I did the mistake of attempting to install this pre rooted kernel: STOCKPLUS-GT-I9100-XXLPB-KERNEL-ROOTED through Odin.¨
I couldn't find a version that matched my kernel gingerbread.XXKL5 so I thought it would be okay to just install any kernel with the same android 2.3.6 version.
All I wanted was to root my phone, now my phone won't even boot. I think it's stuck on a bootloop ? It goes to the samsung warning triangle screen and stays there.
My phone doesn't seem to be able to enter recovery mode. However, it can enter download mode ..
I'm finding this whole rooting business slightly difficult. I'm in over my head. Please, assist me.

Surely STOCKPLUS-GT-I9100-XXLPB-KERNEL would be 4.0.3. rather than 2.3.6?
If you're a noob, why ignore all the stickies and FAQ and jump straight for some random kernel?
I was reading a lot of posts via xda dev forum and someone linked to that kernel and I dunno what I was thinking. Apparently I wasn't thinking at all. SORRY. Now how do I fix this? =(

Before you make things worse, are you even sure you have an I9100? A quick search for XXKL5 revealed I9100G as more likely.

You can try KL3 from Chainfire's CF-Root thread. Should work. Or just use Siyah or Speedmod, and be done with it.

Yup. There are MANY different SII's... Most have completely different model numbers. GT-I9100 and GT-I9100G are similar, but have different chipsets, so are not compatible for firmwares. Take very good care you only flash things meant for the I9100G.

That is forced download mode. Means you have to flash something to get it working again.
As long as you can get to download mode, it's not hopeless.
Try this.
Thanks! Just completet step 2. Repartition with Odin successfully!
Waiting 30 mins due to d/l limit on mirror site but then I will download firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ and proceed with step 3. Should I just get the European one?

I experienced it last weekend. Bricked!
Having the same issue mistaken I9100G for I9100 and flashed Kernel based on I9100. Initially hanged at the Samsung logo with Yellow Triangle when reboot the phone it shows Phone---Exclamation----PC.
Searched and tried almost everything except sending to MobileTech.
After days of trying I resend it back to Samsung Service Centre claiming got the Logo after updating new FW from Kies.
With no questions asked from Service Centre, they restored my phone the next day.
I would advice you to send it back to service centre if you run outta options.

I actually feel slightly cheated since the product advertised is clearly the S2 with dual core see
http://www.bazula.se/Samsung-Galaxy/Samsung-Galaxy---mobiler/Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-i9100.htm
Read " Dual Core Processor på 1,2 Ghz "
According to my knowledge, the i9100G is actually limited to single core and is clocked at 1Ghz ?
Hello guys!
First of all, I'd like to say Hi to everyone here, because it's my first post, even if i was seeking and reading forum earlier.
Okay, so from the beginning.
I got that phone from a girl who tried to unroot it and change FW. Now, the phone just boots, and stucks on the bootscreen, or goes to Download Mode, and:
1. I don't know what firmware it really is.
2. IMEI is still unknown, until tomorrow, i hope so.
3. I tried to flash everything, just EVERYTHING and:
- I can flash all kind of PIT files, hadn't tried with custom PIT's
- Also, I'm able to flash all kinds of bootloaders, but without any visible changes in phone
- I made my own JIG USB PLUG, but no matter how hard i tried, it didn't work (i'll try tomorrow with 301k, instead of 300k, but i think it's too small difference to work different)(+++ it didn't work even with older bootloader, even with two types of turning off the phone)
- Phone is recognized by system as Samsung Device, but after bootscreen stucking, it changes to an unknown device.
- Flashing kernel ends up with boot.bin and stucks
- Flashing other stuff ends up with NAND Write Start!! or zImage etc.
- I tried all versions of Odin.
I'm getting tired after 4 days, and nights of trying to rivive that screwsung (sry, i'm really mad )
So, again: What am I supposed to do? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
CU tomorrow!

Model number? You mean GT-I9100 or what? I thought it's obvious, so i didn't mention that...

Not so obvious, really. I've seen more people I can count who have different models of SII come to this forum and flash random I9100 stuff to their SGH-I777/SGH-I727/SGH-T989/SPH-D710/SCH-R760/whatever.
Anyways, if you can get to download mode, just try flashing an original Samsung stock firmware. I recommend 4.0.3 or earlier. You can download one from www.sammobile.com.
Also, you said you can flash all sorts of PIT files. What PIT files? If you happened to flash a PIT file NOT meant for an I9100, you may have screwed the pooch.

I'd also make sure your cable is good, and is connected directly to a port on the computer instead of through a USB hub, or a port on your keyboard, monitor, or other pass-through port.
Hello again.
I've just came home, and first of all, I've tried a few wires, all original, two from Nokia, one from HTC, two from Sony Ericsson, all with the same result.
One thing I want to ask you is that i don't really know which thing i need to flash first, kernel or firmware.
As far as i know flashing ICS Kernel with Gingerbread firmware may cause softbrick, or even hardbrick.
I've tried everything you said and I'm still stuck.
Thanks for your replies.

Firmwares will contain a kernel. Thus, if you want a custom kernel, you would have to flash a firmware first, then the custom kernel. Otherwise, if you do it in the reverse and flash a custom kernel first, then the kernel contained in the firmware would overwrite the custom kernel.
And you are correct that you cannot use ICS kernels with GB, or GB kernels with ICS.
Try following the instructions in this thread for the original I9100 model: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458. They are the first two sets of instructions labelled "GINGERBREAD VERSION" and "ICS VERSION". I would try the ICS version first.

So you never answered about the USB port - are you plugged directly into the computer? Have you tried other direct ports on the computer yet?
Last resort is to try a different computer altogether.

I've got 3 USB ports (I'm using a laptop, also Samsung, if it matters), and tried all of them. Maybe I could be able to use PC tomorrow. Or i'll reinstall windows, because i'm using 64-bit version atm.
EDIT:
My father told me, that it could be broken "board to board header connector".. But i'm still trying!
EDIT2:
I've just had a small talk with samsung service manager, he told me that they had one phone that started to work after 24hours spent without battery. Seems a little bit silly, but why wouldn't i try?
EDIT3:
And so.. I'm loosing hope. JIG doesn't work, don't even turns on the phone. Kernel, or firmware can't be loaded at all.. I'm completely out of ideas.
I'm interested in rooting my new Galaxy S4 but I also would like the original stock rom in case if I ever need to go back to it. Would anyone by any chance have the original stock ROM?
Model: SCH-I545
Android Version: 4.2.2
*If any other details are needed, let me know.
This is a Verizon phone fyi.
Also, could someone please link me to a tutorial/guide for rooting the S4 and some other links that have ROMs that are a "must-get".
Thanks,
Hydra
Read the development forums. The stock image is ready enough to find, as are step by step root instructions. As to your last question, that is the type of thing that gets a thread locked. Read the dev forums, pick a few roms that pique your interest, and give them a test drive.

I'm new here so tried my best to find the correct section, and did search for guides.
I'm currently using this guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798 , but upon flashing the prerelease kernal, it failed.

Also, in case of anything, how can I leave ODIN mode on the phone? Do I just power it off and reboot?
CM10.1 has been treating me pretty well. Haven't had any crashes or anything and runs fast and stable.
The only issue I noticed is you can't get a GPS lock while Network & Wireless location is on. Once you disable it GPS locks right in.

The tar file is 1.8 Gbs, is this the only method? I have horrible download speed and going to take 3 hours to download it.
Btw, can someone educate me on what just happened? Did I brick my phone? Will I lose any data?
Thanks,

Nope, I'm working on trying Samsung Kies, maybe that will do it but I tried to get into recovery mode thru the phone but takes me to that same window.
I'm also downloading the stock firmware.
Did you try just flashing the stock kernel back using Odin? Everything you've done is listed in this thread, right? Technically if you tried to flash the pre release kernel and it failed nothing should have happened.

No, I haven't. Is that the one in the guide? If so, I'll do it soon. I have to go out, and now without a phone so going to be a problem for me.

Is what I get upon flashing kernel to the stock kernel. I am downloading the stock ROM as I type this. 1 Hour left to download it. Btw, does it matter what type of ROM I download?
Is there a difference from, http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p...Galaxy S4 (Verizon) (SCH-I545)/Stock ROMs/TAR and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259 ?
I'm guessing it's the No Wipe feature?
And what's the worst case scenario with rooting the phone? Anything permanent? If this stock ROM fixes the current problem, then I'll attempt to root once more.
Thanks,

Are you using the factory charging cable to connect to the computer? I don't know why everything keeps failing.... Odin has never failed for me. Do you have another computer you can try this on? Stock charging cable, different usb port or another computer are the things I would try next. I don't know anything about pit files.

Tried two types of cables, a generic one and factory/original one. I tried two different computers with 2 different OS. Tried 3 different ports per computer.
Don't know what else I can do.
Since you're able to boot into Odin mode I think this can be fixed but it may require a pit file. Since I know nothing about pit files or why Odin kept failing for you I'm going to let someone else try and help you. I do not think your phone is beyond hope at this point. Good luck.... I hope someone chimes in with the help you need.

Does anyone know if Verizon will replace it if it isn't my fault? There is no proof of rooting just a messed up system.
Hello,
I have a problem unrooting/unbricking my Galaxy S4 for Verizon. I followed step-by-step processes and it seems to not work properly for me. I downloaded "Odin3 v.1.85" and the stock firmware, "GalaxyS4/SCH-i545/VRUAMDK_NoWipe.tar.zip" and "SCH-I545_MDK_562219_Stock_Restore.tar.md5" for Verizon. I put my phone into the Download Mode and began the process of unrooting using Odin. I made sure that my device was connected. I clicked PDA and chose the stock firmware for my phone. I clicked Start and it begins. As soon is it begins, it says it is not responding, but I wait a few seconds and it responds. After that, it continues where it left off for the unrooting process. The process turned out to be a fail. Here's the message:

It has failed and when I attempt to reboot my phone, it gives me a message that says, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I attempted the Kies process, and it would not connect my device to Kies. Please help. I feel as if I were the only user with this problem. Thank you.
sounds like you were already on v7 baseband try getting that stock image and go through odin.
because you cant go back to the original baseband (which is the md5 you listed) but I had similiar issues.

yep. I only wanted to make sure you did install the update or otherwise some of the 32gb s4 come with it preinstalled.
just saying this because updating to me7 is irreversible you wont be able to flash roms right now only apply a root
download the me7 md5 this time and do all the same steps I followed this guide

if you can't get the usb port (charging port) to work with communicating to your computer then there really isn't much you can do. Have you tried cleaning the contacts off inside the port? Are you sure its NOT the cable?

Hey I have the exact same issue but with the international LTE galaxy s4 do you have any idea what i can do i have put the GPE rom on this and i found that flashing TWRP when it gave me the kies error bought me back to my GPE rom i'm going to sell this phone and i need to return to stock firmware should i try a new computer or something else please help me i've been really scared, i would appreciate it if you can help me in any way.
Looks like the rollout today came in 2 updates. I downloaded the first and installed with no problem but the 2nd which actually puts in lolipop can't install. It says error 402, google/the Verizon forums doesn't have any info on it.
I have the same issue. I have tried Wifi and the Verizon Software Assistant download, and neither works. I am on the hunt for any suggestions as to how to get past this. Since I have just Factory Reset my phone, I will try pretty much anything.
I had 402 error. I downloaded I545VRUFNK1_I545VZWFNK1_I545VRUFNK1_HOME.tar from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-to-root-i545vrufnk1-4-4-2-12-1-2014-t2959613
Extract the .tar file
Install with Odin v3.09+ (put the .tar file in AP slot) and put phone in download mode
It will keep all data.
After reboot install both updates again.

Negative. But I knew that before.
If you're having trouble with the Odin portion of this, check to see if you're using USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port. My issues seemed to be directly related to using 3.0. No idea why, or whether or not this is a known thing but I'm Odin-ing successfully right now. I'm leaving the "struggle" report in case it might help somebody who has gone through the same process unsuccessfully. Cheers

I made it to NK4 on the OTAs so maybe flashing NK1 won't work? Gonna try the NG6 and NK1 FULL WIPE Odin file. (found here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934540736)
The good news is that I can still get into download mode after a battery pull so I'm just going to try and find another Odin file.
Tried using a Pit file given there's no partition. Didn't work. Looks like I've got a morning of thread crawling to look forward to.
As crazy as this might sound, I found the answer for me on Verizon's actual forums from a Verizon customer service rep! That NEVER happens. I almost entirely dismissed it. He told someone asking about this problem, "If that doesn't work, the manufacturer has another way to install the update." I thought that sounding interesting. The link took me to Samsung Kies (an app for the PC) and there you have a choice to install either Kies or Kies3. For some reason it suggests we need Kies, but Kies3 is actually what we need as our S4's have been updated beyond when this site was created.
After installing that, the app TRIES to suggest that we're better off with Smart-something or other, but that's just for transferring contacts and such between two phones. Ignore that and just connect your phone via cable to the PC and Kies will see it and tell you there's an update. It then installed the update without a hitch!
What's amazing is that I also own a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro (the 12.2 inch tablet) that had some issues. However, it would never say there was any sort of update and I could never find one mentioned online. Kies said there was one and installed it. Now the tablet's snappier and better than ever. What a surprise find....
Agrajag27 - OMG, thank you very much! That worked, simple update, and I am on lollipop! Great find!
