ok, so i have an SGS4G now, and i've had it for about a year now (since when it came out, not exactly sure how long ago that was ) and at the time of my getting it, i had a vibrant. i didn't know much of anything about customizing android phones at the time and randomly one night i was like "i wonder what i can do to hack this thing". so i rooted my vibrant but never installed a rom or kernel cuz as i said, i had no clue what it really was.
but my question is, would it be ridiculous for me to go back to the vibrant? i mean i LOVE my SGS4G, but there is so much more available for the vibrant. and i don't really use my FFC and i'm on wifi for a lot of the day so i don't think only having 3g would be a big issue for me.
thanks for your input.
well if you want to flash custom roms then the vibe is the way to go as it has more development going than the 4g.

I had a SGS4G and I just sold it on eBay because their is just so many more options for this phone. The Roms that the SGS4G does have are great, but their are only like 2 or 3 developer's for that phone (who are awesome by the way). This phone just has so much more to choose from.

I'm due for my upgrade soon, and am finding it very difficult to find a replacement that offers as much. Never mind development, new phones are just not hitting the mark. Either the resolution is piss poor (SGS2), or removable storage is missing (Galaxy Nexus), or there's no removable battery (One S), or no development or support (Blaze 4g) etc.. This phone offered everything when it was released, and now I'm spoiled.

I winder if tmo offers any bonus for waiting to upgrade

I agree 100%. I had a choice between a Nexus S and this and I chose this and never looked back. This is a great phone to learn on but also it is extremely user friendly and now with all the ICS ROMs and many devs coming back on one form or another, it should be a no brainer. Does that extra G really make that much difference?
That's my question really. And I also wonder how the battery life is on the vibrant with custom Roms and kernels and whats the best combo?

You've already got that 1650mah battery from the 4g, and the Epic Touch's 1800mah also fits in the Vibrant, so battery life has gotten pretty good lately. Not to mention ICS ROMs, like AOKP, get very good battery life.

With Passion 13 RC1 and Ice Kiss Kernel 8.2 I was able to charge my phone every two days... amazing battery life... 3g always on! the only issue is that GPS breaks after deep sleep, so if you need that, it might be a pain in the ass..
right now I am using CM9 + SubZero Kernel #70. Battery life is not as good as the mentioned above, but it works very well. And GPS doesn't break after DS, as long as you get a lock once the system starts (first time at boot).

Anyone know how many Arias were sold and any estimates for how many may still be in use? Just wandering about what the market is for continuing the rom upgrade work for this phone.

I still use it as my main phone. I flashed munjenis cm9 ROM which is working great for me. I just bought it two months before the Desire C came out, so I want to keep using it for at least one year. Maybe then something better comes up, who knows?

I got it in the beginning of the year, so just like dansou901 I wanna keep it for a while. I love this phone and I hope it gets support for a little longer.
This is an awesome phone for my first Android!
You're right, it's awesome, but it is only Arm v6, so it won't be compatible to newer software...

I just like the small size and it's elegant design. I am also impressed with how the rom developers have been able to keep it current with ICS and now JB. And particularly how other developers have overcome the memory limitations with programs like S2E. Just what is the appeal of a 5" screen?
Sent from my Aria using xda app-developers app
I still have 2 Aria's, one with CM7 and the other with CM9. I love what I think is the prefect size of these phones. It's too bad HTC hasn't built another similar sized phone with more memory and processor power.

He's like kaiser soce - poof, he's gone... I used the Ariel ROM on my SGS3 and it was the best of the (tons of) stock-based ROMs. He put it up and after a few tweaks, that was about it. As was said earlier, he didn't seem to care much about making an update just to add a minor feature. Once it was solid, he let it be.
I just picked up an LGOG last night and am definitely flashing this ROM.
As long as he comes back and makes a JB version of The Base (once we get JB), I'll be happy.

I've been using my HOX+ for a little over 4 months now and I can already tell it's going to go down as my favorite Android phone to date (with the exception of the Nexus One, it still holds a special place in my heart). With that said though, while I find HTC's customization of stock Android very useful in some areas, I'm now seeing the effects it has on the overall performance of the phone. I got my dad an Xperia TL and was using it for a week or so to get it ready for him and even though the HOX+ smacks the heck out of it with it's CPU numbers, the fact of the matter is that the Xperia is much, much [much] snappier since customization of the OS is very limited. You can quickly and easily see the difference by just typing with the keyboard, the HOX+ has that delay/lag to it when typing quickly or using the backspace, however, there is none with the Xperia TL...very similar to my Nexus 7. Swiping aside, my typing accuracy is far better on the Xperia TL and my Nexus 7 than with the HOX+.
It's really unfortunate that we don't have any AOSP ROMS (CM, AOKP, etc) for the AT&T varient because this phone would be fast as heck.
Elegancia has "de-sensed" options if you want a ROM without HTC's sense.
I think the sense interface is the element that most distinguishes HTC from all other manufacturers ....
Unfortunately its beauty is comparable to its heaviness
Maybe the question is how to optimize the sense ....
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
So HTC should focus on optimizing sense... even the "feature overloaded" Touchwiz (compared galaxy S3 of a friend with my x+) is snappier/faster on similar Hardware.
Sense 5 should better optimized.

Now you are regretting that you bought HOX+...
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
No regrets whatsoever, like I said, still love the phone and my favorite Android to date (#6 now). Just ticked at how Sense or any customization kills the phone's performance potential. I'll give Elegancia once they update it with the latest AT&T update...can't do it now.

My international HOX+ is fully stock, and its buttery smooth, sgs3 has no match to the smoothness on sense 4+, locked 60 fps.
Tips:
Go into developer options and set all the animations to .5x
tick force gpu rendering.
go to check if 7 digital is running in apps>running, and disable it if it's there.
Disable HTC gestures in display, gestures and buttons
Use the power saver and only tick the conserve cpu usage to underclock cpu to 1.3ghz, it doesn't slow down the device (if you're not rooted)
For the keyboard, try using the trace keyboard option in the sense keyboard

It really is. Sense is just beautiful. People complain about how much better TouchWiz is, but Sense is easier to navigate...
It just seems to me that HTC just needs to get rid of some (maybe most) of the proprietary apps when google can supply the same services in a more lightweight manner. Particularly for the AT&T version. You really can't use that version without rooting it and getting rid of the AT&T apps because despite the quad-core processor they REALLY slow it down (not to mention that they drain the battery even if you're not doing much of anything).
It's great after that though. I'm just looking forward to REAL AOSP on my AT&T X+....if hope isn't lost.
Anyone have more TIPS for daily Sense optimization!?!?!?:silly:

Just tried a One at Best Buy. Sense 5 doesn't seem any better to me in terms of performance. It seems pretty similar to what we have now. Sense has become way too bloated for me. I am going to the galaxy s3 actually, because I can at least root it and install an AOSP rom with ease, opposed to the Att One X+.

galaxy s3 with TouchWiz is WAY more laggy and unsnappier then sense on HOX/HOX+ ...i don't know why but the normal hox is really optimized from HTC and it's running on stock locked 60 fps...also th keyboard...a friend of me has also the hox+ and his is also running really good

I didn't not know about that. Doesn't it just effect the device for warranty purposes. It just voids warranty after a certain amount of flashes?
Edit: just looked into it, I won't be taking it in for warranty most likely and there is an app called triangle away to reset boot counter if so.

Yeah that's true... but IMHO its pretty idiotic thing (on part of Samsung)... Compared to it unlocking the bootloader is much easier...
But only if I could S-Off my device
Yea I would like this One X+ a lot more of we had s-off or HTC didn't lock it down so much. The One doesnt have these issues. HTC had to face the brink of corporate failure before they provided a device like the One. I feel a little duped by HTC.

Hi All,
I have been running Viper 1.2 for some time now and really am anxious to get on something new.
I have no interest in running AOSP or any variations.
Could I get suggestions of what might be my best option (not buggy) that I could use as a daily driver for a little while.
I like what I see for Sense 5 ROMs too.
Thanks!
newts Sense 5 Rom. The best, I have tried them all.

In order to get a good answer you need to be more specific with your question.
What is important for you to get from the rom?
Battery life? Performance? Eye candy? or may be its CM?
Anyway, i guess you should change your question a bit before one of the mods will delete this thread
Xda doesn't allow threads to compare roms your going to have to try them yourself because I can guarantee that a mod will close this soon.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium

Agree with those who said newts Rom. It is by far the most bug free and customized Rom. Through a custom kernel on it and you'll never look back.

I get excellent battery life. I'm running Viper 1.2 with Zarboz' kernel (stock settings).
I just took a look and it says I still have 83% battery after 6 hours 47 minutes on battery. Usage: several texts, phone calls, syncing with my Jawbone UP band, checking email; light to medium use I guess.
All the ROMs are great. I observed a slight better battery life on the Sense5 ones though. Since I am not a big fan Sense5, especially the blink feed, I get bored with it the very first day. This big bright HD screen is made to show bright and beautiful colors. Not just black and white. Sense 5 still looks sharp though. My main reason to keep going back to ViperDNA is the sound. On it my phone shakes the Beats Solo HD and vibrates the Studios (with PowerAmp of course, Sony xLoud and the Beats mod from eriknors' thread). It doesn't feel as strong and powerful on the other roms. I mostly use two songs for test: Go Hard or Go Home by E-40, Fuel by Metallica.
Everything is opinion based on what you like. But who MIKE D has something awesome coming.
