Hello,
i have WT19A live with walkman, i wanted to update from GB2.3.4 to ICS 4.0.4,
1.i open "Update Service" it was ready for update,
2.before apply the update ,just in case if something goes wrong, i opened the bootloader, because my phone have carrier ROM,
if update will fail i can change rom,) ,
3.i return to "Sony Update Service" and now it saying ,can't update because "modification detected"
i know flashing any stock rom will fix this &also i can upgrade this way with flashtool, but the carrier ROM is better and built in with my primary language and i dont have backup of the that rom, what can i do to fix it?
it is possible lock the bootloader again another way that i can using sony service update again?
thanks!
Locking the bootloader now after all doesn't really make sense, as your warranty is void now and you can take all the advantages of an unlocked bootloader
Why don't you flash a custom rom/kernel now? What's your native language, because I guess there should be roms supporting many languages?

U Should Collect Ur Flashable .ftf firmware For Ur Device and flash it via flashtool.
Check this thread, maybe somehow SUS downloaded firmware and U can make ftf by Yourself.

Thanks everyone

hey,
i flashed cyanogenmod on my ray.. but after all u flashed the stock rom again from this forum (ftf via flashtool).
the thing is that SE companion software says (if i want to update /repair my firmware) that the firmware is modified and it wonmt update it. now my question: do i now always have to flash the new roms (for example when ICS will come) or is there a method to get back to the real stock rom so that SE companion will update/repair the firmware?
im on android 2.3.4. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316070)
its rooted and the kernel is still the one from the cyanogenmod (i think- well, i didnt flash any new kernels after cyanogenmod..just flashed the rom)
bootloader is unlocked
hope you can help me..thx
yes after unlocking bootloader you always have to install stock firmwares via flash tool
use wotan server , it is a great way to install stock rom
hmm okay thanks! .. btw is there a way to lock the bootloader again so i can install the firmware with SE again?
thanks for the tip!
Guys i've one simple question.
MY Atrix is already unlock and it under stock rom.
my question is,
is there any side effect when ever i try to update my device via Over the air update, when ICS Come?
If you are on a stock rom then it should update just fine.
unlocked boot loader probably won't help, thats why when I updated mine to .141 and it relocked it,I just left it that way.
If your bootloader is unlocked and your are running a custom rom then you shouldnt get OTA updates and if you do they will probably lead to issues. If you want the stock motorola ICS i suggest waiting till it comes out flashing back to the stock 2.3.6 and the manually upgrading to ICS
Sir how do i know if i have a stock firmware?
My Cousin gave this to me, and i didn't know if it's stock or not.

Check for "unlocked" at top left of the boot image screen, download and run "root checker" from playstore, it will let you know if the device has been rooted. android version should be 2.3.6 and build ends with 141. Sorry, it's been a while since I've run stock ROM.
sir my version is gb si 2.3.4 T_T but when i check the Software update via On-the-air-Firware no update available. T_T
sorry i've so many question
According to the sony site my phone is available to get ICS.
My SI Number is : 1256-1931
I am with Three.
I do not get a prompt on my phone or Sony Companion to update. Is their a way to force the update?
I have not got a unlocked bootloader since i don't want to void my 2 year warranty.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks
Just flash the Sony ICS frmware by using Flashtool. You don't have to unlock your bootloader and it will not void your warranty.
You have to use 4.1.B.0.431 firmawre.
You can download it from here, its on the first page of the post.
ICS Firmware
Did you try install drivers to reconize the cel on pc? Maybe that...
If you have branded firmware, carrier might have blocked the updates for you.

Hello Sir .
Thank you for the reply.
Regarding my last question which is question C the "yes " means that if i keep upgrading the custome ROMS which have some changes of STOCK ROM in same enviornment i dont need to root again the device am i right?.
What can i conclude that any ORIGAl ROM(STOCK ROM) needs to do root after upgrads.
My last and big question is :
d) Why this behaviour? why cannot we do root for ever and ever? so it means that if i bye a device which comes locked from local operator it will never like as the one that comes unlocked originaly.???? there will be always a difference between device which is rooted from factory and which is rooted by use....why this differences?????
:crying:

can you give me a tutorial or something? i'm not sure how to do this.
also won't this void my warranty?
Hello,
The official update is only available through Xperia Companion.
Alternatively, you can update the unofficial way by flashing through flashtool.
So just to make things clear: a computer is required to update your phone.
Concerning the warranty: you won't void it unless you unlock your bootloader (and flashing an official firmware, even from an unofficial tool like flashtool does not require to unlock it).
I would advise you to go the official way (update with Xperia Companion).

the problem is that it says i already have the most recent android system on sony app.
also i don't know how to upgrade this
go to xpericheck.com and search your device. the latest is 26.3.A.1.33, if your device listed there with the latest software i think you should flash it using flashtool. and if you wish to upgrade using official method, try to factory reset your phone and try again using xperia companion.
Extra! look at Diagnostics. if there any information about Software Update available, you can use your xperia companion. and sorry for my bad english. good luck
