I've this strange problem, it only happens when i screen off my i9300 and let it in sleep mode, the phone will restart itself. I've tried both CM10.1 and Stock rom, but gave the same problem. I was able to minimize the auto-reboot-in-sleep-mode by writing an app to prevent the phone going into deep sleep by locking in the wakelock and send four threads to occupy the quad core cpu. Using this app drains battery, it did solve my problem somehow, i still get auto-reboot but the frequency was minimized by 90%.
Any idea of what causing this?

I've tried from cm10.1 to Stock rom, kernel which is what im using right now. All gave me the same result.
Having exactly the same issue, using partial wake lock app to prevent it but also drains battery, have you found a cure for this? I{m on CM10JB but happening the same on stock

I'm currently running a rooted Sprint stock 2.3.4 and from time to time i have notice that the screen would not timeout or go to sleep. I can push the power button and put it to sleep but it wont do it on its own. I did check and screen timeout change to "never". Has anyone else ran across this issue and/or maybe have a solution?

um, to clarify, you have it set to never and you're asking why the screen wont timeout?
The evo changed to never on its own.

um, cant you just simply change it from never to like 15min or another interval?
Sorry that I was not totally cleared. My phone would randomly change from 1 minute timeout to never. So the issue is that if im not careful and check after im done using my phone, the screen would remain on and drain my battery.

Did you do a clean install of the ota? Because if you didn't then it could have caused that problem. I suggest you do a full wipe (after you backup) and then install the ota afterwards. See if the problem persists and if it doesnt then restore your apps.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the help. I had applied superwipe and installed rooted stock ota before posting. Of course still the same random issue. However I will use RUU and go back to stock then start all over from the beginning.

I would like some help from users having same issues. I bought my SGS II About 3 weeks ago... It was all working fine... stock KG7 not rooted. A few days ago it started doing some weird stuff... like random reboots during standby and freezing unable to turn on unless you take out the battery... tried to restore factory setting i installed the new LightningRom 6.1 and the issue is still there... is there a logging app that can save log before a crash? so i can see what is happening? Or is someone having the same issue as i am. Thank you very much for your time and help Cheers
PS. tried to format usb storage and still have same problem... so really don't know what is the problem...
I have finally found a solution... installed XXKH3 FW stock, not rooted yet, and installed an application from the android market called Load Monitor
Code:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.landak.loadmon
and enabled only Add Notifications, only notify high load, autostart and only screen on... seems to do the job, no battery drainage and most of all NO SOD (Sleep Of Death) or restarts anymore
Hope it helps someone
Cheers
Bump
Bump... Added VillianRom newest version still have the freeze on standby problem.. Apparently when no apps are running it just crashes and i can't turn it on only by going to CWM or odin... and reseting... Any help would be really appreciated
Do you have a software installed called SetCPU?
No... only facebook, google+, Game Dev Story and Dragon Fly...
Faulty Hardware
Mine did the same; replacement phone is perfect.
Sadly it's not an option for me... i bought it used without warranty papers... it was cheaper... i may have stumbled on a solution... cleared Dalwin Cache and it seems to work good now... we will see in a few days how the situation progresses... i will keep you posted
Installed stock XWKF3 AND IT SEEMS to have fixed the prob. Left it overnight unplugged with wifi off and i had a 1% drain of battery for over 8 hours :-D very sattisfied. Installed standard apps now so.i`ll see how it goes. Keep you posted.

Had to turn on Wake Lock. That means my phone doesn't go to deep sleep anytime. Tried a bunch of roms and all the same result. Tried setcpu configs of all kinds and nothing still. Still get freeze up and insane battery drain durring deep sleep. What helps is flashing syah kernel an putting min cpu freq to 100 that way not that much battery drain.

i also have the same problem on my gt-9100T and still it is still happening. first time it happened when i uninstalled social hubs. at that time i was running lite'ning rom v6.1 and only used the phone for 1 month. then the freeze/ sleep of death occur.
i have tried flashing to stock rom/modem/kernel from intratech thread to no avail.
some people can fix the prob by cleaning the battery contact point. some by cleaning the mini usb port. still no luck for me.
right now running on criskelo latest build (KL1 2.3.6)with T-KL1 modem, siyah .9+ and the problem still persist.
so, installed load monitor and u/v and set the min freq to 100Mhz to preserve battery but still can only last 12hours even unused.load monitor seems to use a lot of juice. very frustrating. i need to tick the wakelock option otherwise SOD right after the screen is off.
I am still hoping someone/anyone who might have the solution the share with us all.
is it a good idea to format /system + /emmc + everything? i have done full wipe, still no good.

Mirco SD card = Removed
so far no problem

You could try this kernel, 5-08 build should fix it. In change log bsod=black screen of death.

The same thing happens to me but whats weirder is that it only happens when i go to the gym! It never happens anywhere else but there and it takes a long time to turn the phone back on. I've gotten to the point where i have to shut it off while I'm at the gym before it shuts itself off. So i cant really use it there anymore. Its really annoying. I also get a blue-screen but it doesn't happen as much as it use to.

Oh from time to time my phone also gets a blue screen. Mostly when its being charged but it has the same effect as the SoD

I had sleep of death issues on the stock 4.1.2 ROM. I think usb debugging or something in developer options was causing it. Now I don't have sleep of death issues anymore. I have developer options and usb debugging disabled. I also checked disable wifi on sleep. Some posts said it was a wifi issue, others said that it an app compatibility issue. I'm not sure what causes it. I'm just happy that I no longer have issues.
Had the same issue. Switched to pa 3.99 RC 2.
I have the same issue on my phone, it happens over every single rom I have used, and I have tested just about all of them, (Pandroid, Carbon, Liquidsmooth, rootbox, beanstalk.. just to name a few) The only rom that did not SOD was the stock rom, but I have no idea why. My theory is something happens after the first week of use that is clogging up the phone in the system somewhere, because I never get a SOD until after a bit of use. I will be looking more into it after exams this week, and I will keep you guys posted in what I find.
Today i wiped cache/dalvic cache/battery stats, then i started browsing the XDA Forum, suddenly the phone froze, then for two seconds a continious clicking noise appeared near the camera /cpu?/,after that the device restarted, but very quickly-without showing the siyah logo...This has happened once before, i was using ICS 4.0.4 with stock kernel...
Currently i'm with JB/siyah 6.0b5;
The device seems to be working just fine now,but i'm a little worried.Have you encountered this one before?

Nope, the only time I've ever heard a clicking noise was using the CM torch, I decided to try the 'high' setting. Clicking started so I turned the torch back to normal brightness. Never had it since. Keep an eye (ear?) on it.. If it happens again then I'd flash a fully stock ROM & see if it happens on full stock. Have you undervolted/overclocked at all? Could be something to consider if you have.

Yes, I have undervolted with two steps, using CPU ADJUSTER, but for the last three days the phone was OK.And the first time this thing happened to me I didn't even know what is undervolting...It could be from the kernel, I just flashed JB with Siyah 6.0b4 (the previous version)...I'll see how the device behaves without undervolting...If it happens again, i'll flash fully stock rom...

Yes,I have experienced the same,my Moto E randomly rebooted once,I was not using it also when it rebooted, although didn't see any drastic fall in battery level, since then it has never rebooted again, after reading few articles over the net the probable reason seemed to be an app which was malfunctioning.

Just curiosity. Do you know which app caused that reboot?
I suspect it was Nova launcher, the beta update with okay google feature,I wrote about it to the developer, the next day there was one more beta update, maybe that fixed the issue,it's just a guess though, it's very difficult to to identify.

Hey guys! My Moto E gets reboot randomly multiple times a day... I wiped the cache partition... It didn't work... Then I did factory Reset... Then also I am having the same problem... What should I do??
try going to the safe mode(hold on the power key, hold the power off option for 2 seconds) and see if the problem is still there or not, if its not there then that means a third party app is misbehaving.
If I have helped you, please click on the thanks button.

Sagnik , I think you r right bro. I am facing 8 to 10 restarts from last 10 days. And I started using nova (older version from apk) almost 10 days ago, don't remember exactly. But the problem started once I left the ilauncher and started using nova.
for all facing the issue, use VOLUME BUTTON TO POWER BUTTON android app. and unlock using volume buttons. it will not drain battery. and also save proximity sensor and random unlockind of tap tap app.

Even I used to face random reboots on stock rom. It started happening even before I rooted the phone and when I was on pure stock. After I rooted the problem persisted. Maybe it is Nova launcher but I dont face any such problems in CM11 with Nova launcher. The reboot usually happens when I unlock the phone with pattern in stock ROM. There are some posts in the internet suggesting that if "Power button instantly locks" is disabled, it fixes the problem. Don't know how far it is true though.
goodthing, i disabled "power button instantly lock". lets see if it restart or not. will post tomorrow

The random reboots are definitely caused by Nova launcher. Using the stock launcher & uninstalled nova and random reboots are not happening anymore.
no such problem for me using nova launcher for a long time on stock...
