Is it possible to port over a modem to get 4G LTE on T-mobile for the i9205? HSPA+ is fast enough but service is kind of spotty in the Orlando area. Does anybody know if this is possible or is it a hardware issue that software cannot fix?

I have tried with no luck with odin it has a secure boot error. need some one with a rooted telus i527m to make a dump of there mmcblk0p1 partition.. to do that thay need to use terminal program on there phone.
su
cd mnt/sdcard/
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=backup-NON-HLOS.bin
that will make a back up on there sd card. then when we get that backup file from them then we could install on our i9205 by placing the file in the root of the phones internal storage. and with terminal type
su
cd mnt/sdcard/
dd if=NON-HLOS.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
Try at own risk
is there anyone out there willing to try this? I'm sure this would be beneficial to all of us. I will make a pledge of $20 if we can make this work. Lets get this rolling.

Software drivers (modem) cannot change hardware specifications.
The AT&T mega is full 4GLTE and that's the only way you are going to get it!
It works on t-mob as well.

I wonder if this is just like my Note then. I'm using the AT&T Note on T-Mobile and getting LTE. All I had to do was unlock it, inset T-Mobile sim and then change the APN settings.

It's my understanding that the LTE frequencies are different so porting a modem would make no difference at all.

will porting a modem over at least help with reception issues? A lot of time my phone gets on edge, and if I keep it on wcdma only I loose signal sometimes. Has anybody had success porting over a modem to the i9205? If so what kind of results did you guys get?

thanks. do you know if you get the At&t mega and it has a bad Esn, will it still work on tmobile? the ebay seller claims it will. it seems it would.
I Purchased a I527m (plus and extra 50 bucks for SIM unlock code) from a (Canadian carrier) and successfully rooted with TWRP, and flashed it with a stock Canadian firmware ROM to use with a T-Moble SIM card here in the US. After a few APN changes I get T-Mobile 4g LTE, HSPA+ and very fast DL/UL speeds. I do live in a re-framed area so I am sure that adds o the increased performance. Below are my average speeds. Hope this helps.

Most likely you will need the APNs from your carrier. Manually enter them, reboot, should be good to go.

How'd you unlock it? That maybe why, also check what types of bands your carrier(s) uses they maybe not be compatible with this phone. Here is a list of all supported networks (according to LG): GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 850/1900/2100, LTE Bands 25/26/41

Hello
I'm using a T-Mobile Note-8 that has been unlocked (from T-Mobile) and currently have a Straight Talk (AT&T) service.
Reason for buying the T-Mobile version:
1. Easy unlock.
2. Easy access to hotspot.
Question:
How do I get WiFi calling enabled on this? I'm currently on the latest Oreo CRC2 build...
Searched around but NOT much information that I could find for my specific scenario.
Thanks
Max
Wow... Looks like the T-Mobile Note-8 forum is completely dead.
So there's NO one who is using this device on Straight Talk?

I use straight talk with att byop sim. My model is U1 and I have been looking for an answer for months also. I have tried all the userdata files, CSCs, shortcut tricks, everything I can find but nothing works. Do your service mode numbers work on your phone? Everytime I dial *#*#ANYCODE#* I get an error "Connecttion problem or invalid MMI code"

Thanks bro. I'm on oreo. And also another issue is I think straight talk doesn't technically support the features. I'm running CRC1 on my U1. I just downloaded the ATT CRC2 userdata file and was gonna flash that but also was actually gonna ask if you (or if you know anyone who may have) happen to have the CRC2 ATT CP file uploaded anywhere so I didn't have to download the whole stock firmware.

When you open the >firmware page< and select your region and then your firmware version, there is a short instruction.
Correction: I want to flash the U.S firmware (w/U.S lte bands) onto my international version. No PC access so I want to use KINGROOT!

If they differ in hardware, don't even try.
They are the same.
In general, US versions have support for different radio bands than the international versions. If you upload the US firmware to the international version, you may lose not only gsm radio support, but also WiFi.
Try looking for a method to activate the US band in the current firmware. This is the only safe method.
Once again thank you for the your help! But as you might know they're saying this phone will be no good after Verizon shuts down it's 3G.I already switched from AT&T to Verizon earlier this year. I was told I can just do what I was asking but if you know of any way possible I can save my phone? I know it needs band 14 for AT&T. I already did the apn thing but it's not enough. They still read it as 3G. This phone has extreme sentimental value to me.
