Has anybody tried this? Especially on a 4.3 AOSP rom. Any results? I've done it on 4.2.2 AOSP roms without problems but I don't think I can tell a difference.

Yes it should have a ME7 at the end of the baseband if it actually changed.
Then I don't know why it doesn't work... Also aren't we supposed to flag rpm as well?

I have flashed both modems on TouchWiz and AOSP 4.2.2 roms. As well as AOSP 4.3 roms. I got the flashable zips in a thread and I believe it was posted by @andybones. But I believe @hlxanthus might have posted them originally. The difference I've noticed is that the me7 radio tends to hold edge signal a little more consistently. For me in my house there are spots I can't make calls on the mdk radio. I can anywhere in the house on me7 radio . This is @THE Expense of battery though. I don't think everyone though has had any difference. Or some say its worse signal. In areas of decent or strong signal mdk seems to reflect a stronger signal. So it's kind of all over the place. The deciding factor for me for me7 is that I can make calls all over my house. I think it will be highly personalized based on location cell towers etc...
My baseband does change based on which radio I have flashed. Hope that answers your question.

In the places I frequent (home and work), ME7 gives a slight improvement in signal quality.
I don't really have any metrics on battery life though, as I used the phone so heavily when I first got it and flashed the modem shortly after.

Hey!
So after going from Jb leak, which had XXLS6 (or LSJ6 can't remember) modem to CM10.1 I decided to switch to XXLQ6 which is the modem that came with the phone. Reason for this is I thought leak modem was for Poland and such areas only and I live in North Europe so I figured LQ6 would work better. I also thought calls sounded weird on cm and tried if this would solve it.
Well, it didn't. I think it's a rom "problem" and tbh it isn't even a problem because calls work fine, I just didn't remember having that sort of complete silence when no one was speaking (no static sound as before). Hope that makes sense
Now I'm thinking that ls6 will probably be the modem here as well, or the successor of it will be, so should I use that with CM10.1? It worked fine and battery was good too, or should I just stick with the old LQ6 since my ril matches with it, although this apparently means nothing. There's also option C) "Use whichever you want to"
I heard that this modem (LS6) has a battery drain issue for some users. I used it for a week and I didn't noticed any major issue personally
Bvlp7 is awesome, use this to find modems http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950 also don't change any rils

Lq6 is the stock modem, I'm just wondering if the ls6 is an improved modem since it's for jb or do modem stay pretty much the same. I'm not sure though what the jb radio will be for my location obviously.

AT&T ICS Radio - GPS Broke
AT&T JB Radio - Network Shows Maritime (not AT&T). "According to dvhexer Maritime is also AT&T." After placing a call it shows disconnected and appears in the notification pulldown / status bar (Call does go through however). Some users experienced fast data speeds and better battery life over the ICS radio.
N4 (mako) 0.48 - No LTE (Currently running on my device with T-Mobile's Network)

Thanks for making an all-in-one radio thread. As far as my personal experiences with the other radios...
.27 - Good data, slow gps lock
.33 - Way better data speeds, still slow gps lock (still took a bit to get a good lock but slightly better than .27). Also, not sure if it was just me but I noticed the data would "stall" out at times. Switching airplane mode on/off seemed to fix it.
As far as differences between the AT&T ICS/JB modems...I noticed only a slight difference in data speeds but the GPS lock speed is marginally better in the JB radio. The Maritime network issue on the JB radio is harmless but annoying to people with OCD...

I would generally agree regarding .33, though I didn't get vastly better speeds than JB modem, only marginally better. I did get data 'stalls' on .33 that I have not experienced on JB modem.

My favorite for call reliability (incoming) is the AT&T JB Radio, despite the odd bug when making a call.
So what radio came with Rootbox? Because I'm on that and it doesn't say maritime or anything. Also gps doesn't lock unless I run gps fix and signal strength is worse compared to stock ICS

Typically radios are not installed with custom/aftermarket ROMs only through OTA updates etc. Go to settings>about and report back with your baseband version.

Yup. I was on the Canadian RootBox since February (or maybe March?) after flashing the Canadian TZ. Then I LGNPST'd using TeenyBin. I have never seen "maritime" a single time.
Flashing with the newest cwm on houstonn's PA and the latest houcha kernel I've found extremely good and stable results out of mako .33 radio. No call bug, GPS locks very quickly with great accuracy and so far no excessive heat or missed calls or signal issues on hspa/Hspa + network. Will be going in to lte country and will do some additional testing tomorrow. Battery drain has been on par with the default jb radio from att.
No radio from ICS,JB or att modems will activate LTE on this phone if your on T-Mobile. I have T-Mobile and LTE in my area and I have possibly tried everything I can from turning on LTE on the hidden service menu ( must be on stock ROM to do this) and build prop. No AWS support for this phone.

I live in solid LTE country, but am getting throttled for abusing my unlimited plan, so my test numbers will be useless till the 15th. But when I'm back to speed I'd be happy to thoroughly test these radios. Any tips for how to standardize these tests to make it as scientific as possible? Maybe agree to a certain rom, a specific build date, a specific kernal and speed test app. Then test gps lock time/accuracy, lte ping/speed, and hspa+ ping/speed. I have access to an AT&T microcell if anyone would be interested in those results as well.

Also, user Neroga said he had success flashing the OG Pro radio (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41191727 ) and then flashing the .33 mako radio. Does anyone know of any reason why the combination of flashing one radio then the other might fix a problem, that flashing just the one radio won't? And if so, would it be possible to create a hybrid radio which combines the best properties of the two radios so as to remove a step from the flashing process?

No. Basically he flashes the OG Pro radio which removed his previous radio. Then he flashed the mako radio which removed the OG Pro radio. Someone correct me if I am wrong.... These radios are closed source and extremely protected. Hacking them can lead to bricked phones etc. I have yet to see a modified radio for any phone. There is a reason radios typically are not included is custom ROMs.
Hope that answers some of your questions.
Please note: flashing the OG Pro radio is not recommended nor does it fix any issues with our device.

So recently I have been browsing through the forums of the other Galaxy S4 variants and have found some amazing looking roms. I was wondering if it would be possible to port them to our variant. The rom in particular that really caught my eye was the FoxHound rom. It looks amazing and who wouldn't want to see that rom on our Verizon variant. So if anyone knows how or an answer please share.
This has been covered in detail. No porting is needed- you just need to change the APN. You can use just about any rom you want so long as it's not for the i9500.

Data works? So maybe AT&T/TMo ROMs can be flashed, but not i9505s because I haven't been able to get data to work on any i9505 ROM.
Thanks for the input. I will definitely look into this further before I go ahead and try this.
So I can flash international 9505 rom that has move apps to external sd feature?
Your mileage may vary, but I haven't been able to get data to work and when I asked other people they never respond so I'm gonna guess they didn't either. The ROMs will flash perfectly fine though.
I flashed FoxHound for i9505 with a verizon custom kernel as suggested and it flashed fine, but had issues once booted.

Is ME7 the new android 4.3? My baseband is ME7 but my build number is MDK. What is the difference? Can some explain this in detail? Im eeally confused with people saying ME7 4.2.2 when I thought it is 4.3.

Sent from my Hyperdriven Core Verizon S4 using XDA Developers App
The build number shows which version you are on. ME7 is still 4.2.2 but if you receive it OTA, it locks your phone down pretty tight.
Baseband just means which modem/radio you are using. You can flash whatever one you want, which ever works best for you.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 4
No you can flash a ME7 Rom while on MDK. If you flash darkslide or the barebones rom you'll baseband will be updated to ME7 which is a plus if you decide to then flash back to a MDK rom. I've flashed back from darkslide (ME7) to synergy rom (MDK) and my baseband was still ME7. :good:
The barebone me7 build is exactly like stock except you can choose your system apps during the aroma setup I highly recommend it. The overall speed is better on the new build it really flies!!

I hope Verizon/Samsung skips 4.3 and goes directly to 5.0 so they don't waste time on such a small incremental build which would only result in us waiting 4-6 months for 4.3 then another 4-6 months after that for 5.0. So hear is to hoping for 5.0 in 4-6 months and a happy new year. But this is Verizon and they don't care about users at all.

Sadly this is truer than most people realize. It took forever for my Tbolt to even get ICS because of Verizon. After a talk with a CSR that probably opened her mouth more than she should have it turns out Verizon has better relations with Apple than the companies that run Android. Which is why Verizon always gets Apple products so much faster. But back on topic MDK and ME7 are essentially the same. Some people have reported the ME7 radio holding 4G better in weaker areas at the cost of a little battery. I know you Google it there is a "change log" so to speak about what's different in ME7. Its really nothing to major from what I remember, but like everyone is saying, there are ME7 based Roms out there so do yourself a favor and DO NOT OTA to ME7.

i use the eclipse ROM. great for safestrap people and those who actually care about the camera on the s4
see, when using any camera app other than the samsung one, all the fancy stuff samsung put in their camera software to make pictures prettier (night mode, effects, etc) you're left with a pretty barebones camera. honestly I really don't care for that, i just use it for now because the ROM is extremely stable and everything works great, it is based on 4.4.2 though and development is on hold for now

I have tried a lot of roms but always tend to go back to Hyperdrive as it works the best with my Galaxy Gear. Currently running RLS20 have run almost every single one since the earlier HD releases on galaxy s4
