AT&T ICS Radio - GPS Broke
AT&T JB Radio - Network Shows Maritime (not AT&T). "According to dvhexer Maritime is also AT&T." After placing a call it shows disconnected and appears in the notification pulldown / status bar (Call does go through however). Some users experienced fast data speeds and better battery life over the ICS radio.
N4 (mako) 0.48 - No LTE (Currently running on my device with T-Mobile's Network)
N4 (mako) 0.33 - You tell me.
N4 (mako) 0.27 - You tell me.
N4 (mako) 0.24 - You tell me.

Just wait for it or you can read through the CM thread by Dvhexer its been tested by multiple people. all modems from the N4 drop calls while on an LTE area sooner or later. Dont be surprise when your girl calls you mad because you're not answering her calls. lol

.33 give phenomenal data. I almost thought we had lte in grand junction yesterday for how fast speed test clocked it at. .27 is slower but less battery drain. .33 made my phone hotter than Satan's ball sack!!!

I was having issues in my office with signal on .33. Data was sketchy and I'd miss calls. Swapped to ICS modem a couple days ago and have a much stronger signal than I did before. GPS isn't always an immediate lock, but its not been any longer than 30secs and once it does lock, I have had great accuaracy. I think it is all a matter of your software/hardware setup.

Please Thank the appropriate people as I just assembled the information from various sources.

reserved just in case

Thanks for making an all-in-one radio thread. As far as my personal experiences with the other radios...
.27 - Good data, slow gps lock
.33 - Way better data speeds, still slow gps lock (still took a bit to get a good lock but slightly better than .27). Also, not sure if it was just me but I noticed the data would "stall" out at times. Switching airplane mode on/off seemed to fix it.
As far as differences between the AT&T ICS/JB modems...I noticed only a slight difference in data speeds but the GPS lock speed is marginally better in the JB radio. The Maritime network issue on the JB radio is harmless but annoying to people with OCD...

I would generally agree regarding .33, though I didn't get vastly better speeds than JB modem, only marginally better. I did get data 'stalls' on .33 that I have not experienced on JB modem.

Great thread. Was wondering if anyone is using the OG for T-Mobile lte. Which radio is working out for ya?

My favorite for call reliability (incoming) is the AT&T JB Radio, despite the odd bug when making a call.

So what radio came with Rootbox? Because I'm on that and it doesn't say maritime or anything. Also gps doesn't lock unless I run gps fix and signal strength is worse compared to stock ICS

I am using the OG on Tmobile however I do not have LTE in my area yet. All radios besides the N4 (mako) 0.48 should have working LTE.

Typically radios are not installed with custom/aftermarket ROMs only through OTA updates etc. Go to settings>about and report back with your baseband version.

Try flashing the AT&T LGOG JB radio. I would recommend using CWM Recovery over TWRP at this time.
To verify, your network shows AT&T?

Yup. I was on the Canadian RootBox since February (or maybe March?) after flashing the Canadian TZ. Then I LGNPST'd using TeenyBin. I have never seen "maritime" a single time.

Flashing with the newest cwm on houstonn's PA and the latest houcha kernel I've found extremely good and stable results out of mako .33 radio. No call bug, GPS locks very quickly with great accuracy and so far no excessive heat or missed calls or signal issues on hspa/Hspa + network. Will be going in to lte country and will do some additional testing tomorrow. Battery drain has been on par with the default jb radio from att.

No radio from ICS,JB or att modems will activate LTE on this phone if your on T-Mobile. I have T-Mobile and LTE in my area and I have possibly tried everything I can from turning on LTE on the hidden service menu ( must be on stock ROM to do this) and build prop. No AWS support for this phone.

I live in solid LTE country, but am getting throttled for abusing my unlimited plan, so my test numbers will be useless till the 15th. But when I'm back to speed I'd be happy to thoroughly test these radios. Any tips for how to standardize these tests to make it as scientific as possible? Maybe agree to a certain rom, a specific build date, a specific kernal and speed test app. Then test gps lock time/accuracy, lte ping/speed, and hspa+ ping/speed. I have access to an AT&T microcell if anyone would be interested in those results as well.

Also, user Neroga said he had success flashing the OG Pro radio (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41191727 ) and then flashing the .33 mako radio. Does anyone know of any reason why the combination of flashing one radio then the other might fix a problem, that flashing just the one radio won't? And if so, would it be possible to create a hybrid radio which combines the best properties of the two radios so as to remove a step from the flashing process?

No. Basically he flashes the OG Pro radio which removed his previous radio. Then he flashed the mako radio which removed the OG Pro radio. Someone correct me if I am wrong.... These radios are closed source and extremely protected. Hacking them can lead to bricked phones etc. I have yet to see a modified radio for any phone. There is a reason radios typically are not included is custom ROMs.
Hope that answers some of your questions.
Please note: flashing the OG Pro radio is not recommended nor does it fix any issues with our device.

Yeah I'm not getting GPS at all with any of the Radios. I've literally tried all of them. It was say searching for GPS for a while then it will say your location is temporarily unavailable. Guess I'll have to restore back to stock.

ROM for easiest transition to GSM/CDMA

Hey all,
I'm headed to Korea this week and I was going to reflash my ROM to allow for GSM data. So I'm looking at the Venasaur (Charmander if it gets released in time) or MIUI. I'd still like to use it on CDMA until I leave, but easily switch it to GSM while in Korea for data usage.
What's the easiest/best of the two to use?
I'm currently on Scott's ICS Dev Edition as I prefer the stock ICS feel. I could put up with a theme for a couple weeks while I'm there though.
Otherwise, I'm using my old Captivate while I'm there as I know that'll work, but the GPS is practically unusable.
Thanks!
Super
Pretty sure you can run GSM on your current rom. Settings>Tweaks>Misc>Phone Info. The antennae selection is on that screen.
You can get gsm on any rom, its sending sms and a couple of other issues that only miui or any sense 4 rom work it out using the gsm fix patch.
I'd say use miui, both cdma and gsm is working out of the box with cdma sms sendung being the only issue.

Data's the big concern. I don't plan on using voice too much, if at all on this trip. I mainly want data for Internet, GPS and translation.
Have people been able to use data without trouble on other ROMs besides those two?

That RUU came from the last official update, so it SHOULD work fine. But when you usewords like "perfectly" then all bets are off..
Nils BCS ROM based on 3.6 is supposed to be global. There are probably others tho.

First of all, thank you for trying to do this! I don't think that the herd will care and they will continue to clog up the development thread, but you're trying and that definitely counts for something.
Do we have a current bug list that isn't just a bunch of "me too!" and random one off bugs? I'm talking about things that are consistent across all users who have properly installed? I think a well maintained list would be beneficial to the CM team (read Steve) rather than having them cull through the steaming 100 page pile of pure fetid "awesome".
I've read that entire thread up to this point but I've been trying not to engage too much due to the state of things over there. But here is my small and likely incomplete list of verified bugs at this point. Please help add to it with valid citations. I don't want to put things onto the list until they are verified by at least two users who can state the issue clearly in a post. I will try to keep this updated but please feel free to rip it away from me and keep it in tip-top shape.
Tethering does not work in either WPA or WPA2 modes (but it does work in insecure mode) [1,2,3,4]
A2DP isn't working [1]
Camera focusing bug (that is known and is going to be fixed upon next build) [1]
LTE in Canada seems to be a common complaint. [1,2]
MTP not working for Mac users. [1,2] (Fix? Not sure if this is an issue with CM or AFT)
Picasa sync doesn't work [1]
Netflix doesn't work. (Overlay related?) [1,2,3]
Volume anomalies when switching between front and rear speakers [1,2]
So since this is the Q&A thread, I have two questions:
What bugs have I missed? (please provide a single post link as a citation)
Whats the best way to find out when/where to find the latest gapps builds? I always find them from fellow forum users posts but it seems to me that they have to originate somewhere and I'm less than clear on that process.

How about things that help with development? (Note that it is in the development section of the forums).
Bugs are generally what would fit that description, a few verifications help, but 100 people saying "me too!" doesn't help devs.
A development thread is to talk about bugs and such. Not asking about the camera 1000 times. Or if the battery mod is there.

LTE problems
Hello everyone,
I just flashed the cm10 jb preview. It is absolutely fantastic. I have one problem, I can't seem to get 4G network status. I am currently stuck at H. I am on ATT btw. When checking APNs, I am using ATT LTE. I'm not quite sure what I did wrong and have been searching the original cm10 thread for an answer.

Are you in an LTE network area? CM shows your true network connection, not the marketing speak that AT&T uses. H is HSPA+ which on stock showed up as 4G. So if you're expecting it to say 4G, H is the exact same thing. If you're expecting the LTE logo from stock, then there is an issue as you're not connected to LTE. On CM, when you connect to LTE it'll show the 4G icon.
It might seem somewhat confusing but you can thank AT&T for that HSPA+ is not a 4th generation network standard, but hey, they called it that and sold it to the public because Verizon was rolling out LTE before AT&T and AT&T felt it had to compete. So rather than just get their LTE butt in gear, they fought a marketing war instead (sadly, this works in America). For more info... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G
thanks

Legitimately LTE does NOT work yet. There is a toggle built in but it's constantly greyed out. I am in an LTE coverage area (Bell, boo ya. ) but doesn't run in CM10.

Galaxy note I717 running on aws(wind/T-Mobile) with ics

OK guys does or has anyone gotten some luck running a i717m note on aws band with either wind or T-Mobile? I have tried different roms, radio and mods still no luck
If someone that has gotten it to run good please post what step you took and what from and radio plus any mod required that would be awesome.

The author is studachris. I copied this from a thread about T-mobile, just a little way down. There are several threads infact, so take a few minutes and find them. I know the xda search function sux but googling "using at&t galaxy note on t-mobile or wind" will get you all the advice and files.
Come back if you have any questions.
"Roms and modems are interchangeable, meaning you can use whichever modem you want, on whichever Rom you want.
The blaze modem is what you want to use for t-mobile
Also the apn settings for t-mobile would probably be beneficial"
I'm not blowing you off. Learn by doing.
Here is an example:

Capt is absolutely right. Been using the orig Blaze modem/radio on several ROMs (used mostly ICS CM ROMs). All have been stable with 3-9 mb d/l and crummy upload speeds as reported in the T-Mobile modem thread.
hey I have tried to look for it.
I've spent over 20 hours the other day/night flashing different roms and modems and searching though forums on here and google.
That is why im posting to ask if anyone has had any luck. it seem the modem I have flash really some only work with aokp rom but and the speed are good but i lost out on the s apps or I have only been able to get things working with the kid test modem it seem the blaze or blaze 4g lb7 doesnt like to work on wind while using uclf6 roms custom stock roms. but i will give that a try and see what in that link. I am just trying to get this thing up and running so I dont have to be carrying around 2 phones with me all day .
ps: I have over 7gb of rom data download that other night too its still sitting on the desktop so pretty much every ics rom and stock restore rom plus radio has been downloaded

can you post a link or upload your radio file?
the only good link for a radio I have found was all dead already, I am guessing its the only one I have not tried yet

Its seems either gave a radio for voice or data but not both. The blaze seems to work for voice but. Not so for data but the telus t989d radio works for radio but not voice I really hope the aws modem will be out soon with tmobile getting the note

Are you inputing APN settings? You can't get data without that.
Yes I have done that and the phone auto finds the apn for wind
but even after manual input still same thing. I have even tried the *#*#4636#*#* code and configure on that as well and *#2263# for the other rom still either one if the radio is good for voice or the other for data. I wish they had one that worked on both and good

[Q] ME7 flashable modem

Has anybody tried this? Especially on a 4.3 AOSP rom. Any results? I've done it on 4.2.2 AOSP roms without problems but I don't think I can tell a difference.

Note: I did not create these zips but I cannot remember where I found them to give credit. All I remember was these were posted in the middle of a rom or kernel thread I was reading a while back.

Yeah I was looking for the ME7 modem and I flashed the one you linked but my baseband didn't change... I don't know... isn't it supposed to say ME7?

Yes it should have a ME7 at the end of the baseband if it actually changed.
Then I don't know why it doesn't work... Also aren't we supposed to flag rpm as well?

I have flashed both modems on TouchWiz and AOSP 4.2.2 roms. As well as AOSP 4.3 roms. I got the flashable zips in a thread and I believe it was posted by @andybones. But I believe @hlxanthus might have posted them originally. The difference I've noticed is that the me7 radio tends to hold edge signal a little more consistently. For me in my house there are spots I can't make calls on the mdk radio. I can anywhere in the house on me7 radio . This is @THE Expense of battery though. I don't think everyone though has had any difference. Or some say its worse signal. In areas of decent or strong signal mdk seems to reflect a stronger signal. So it's kind of all over the place. The deciding factor for me for me7 is that I can make calls all over my house. I think it will be highly personalized based on location cell towers etc...
My baseband does change based on which radio I have flashed. Hope that answers your question.

In the places I frequent (home and work), ME7 gives a slight improvement in signal quality.
I don't really have any metrics on battery life though, as I used the phone so heavily when I first got it and flashed the modem shortly after.

Radio help, Los Angeles, CA. T-Mobile.

Hey, so I'm on T-Mobile in the LA area and I know that I can get 20Mbps INSIDE MY HOUSE, because when I was running stock ICS freshly rooted and freshly unlocked I got 20Mbps when I did a speed test.
But now with Beanstalk installed I can't seem to get more than 5Mbps data speeds. And that's from the AT&T JB radio.
I don't care about LTE if I can get 20Mbps HSPA+ like I've seen in some screenshots.
Which modems are the best? I can't seem to get anything more then 2Mbps from mako modems, (I've only tried .48 and .98). And the hybrids don't flash except for a few I've been able to find here and there throughout the forums and they only give me 1Mbps
Thanks to anyone that can help.
You had 20mb on this phone or a previous one you were using?

Do you have a copy of the ICS radio? Your problem did begin after you switched radios and ROM, correct?

No I don't. :-\
I noticed it had really slowed after I flashed a hybrid radio to fix the GPS that wasn't working with the previous stock radio/Beanstalk ROM.
Yesterday after you replied to my question I saw that your signature contained a link to hybrid radios and I tried the 27/84 hybrid but GPS wouldn't lock and data was only 3Mbps, so I reflashed the Jelly Bean at&t radio and did a speed test in the exact same spot and got 13Mbps. And GPS locked in 7 seconds.
I think I may just stick with the jelly bean radio after all. 13Mbps is plenty fast. Maybe it depends on when I do the test, IDK.
Thanks for replying. Maybe flashing the hybrid you linked to and then the jelly bean increased my speed. Lol.
