First of all, thank you for trying to do this! I don't think that the herd will care and they will continue to clog up the development thread, but you're trying and that definitely counts for something.
Do we have a current bug list that isn't just a bunch of "me too!" and random one off bugs? I'm talking about things that are consistent across all users who have properly installed? I think a well maintained list would be beneficial to the CM team (read Steve) rather than having them cull through the steaming 100 page pile of pure fetid "awesome".
I've read that entire thread up to this point but I've been trying not to engage too much due to the state of things over there. But here is my small and likely incomplete list of verified bugs at this point. Please help add to it with valid citations. I don't want to put things onto the list until they are verified by at least two users who can state the issue clearly in a post. I will try to keep this updated but please feel free to rip it away from me and keep it in tip-top shape.
Tethering does not work in either WPA or WPA2 modes (but it does work in insecure mode) [1,2,3,4]
A2DP isn't working [1]
Camera focusing bug (that is known and is going to be fixed upon next build) [1]
LTE in Canada seems to be a common complaint. [1,2]
MTP not working for Mac users. [1,2] (Fix? Not sure if this is an issue with CM or AFT)
Picasa sync doesn't work [1]
Netflix doesn't work. (Overlay related?) [1,2,3]
Volume anomalies when switching between front and rear speakers [1,2]
So since this is the Q&A thread, I have two questions:
What bugs have I missed? (please provide a single post link as a citation)
Whats the best way to find out when/where to find the latest gapps builds? I always find them from fellow forum users posts but it seems to me that they have to originate somewhere and I'm less than clear on that process.

How about things that help with development? (Note that it is in the development section of the forums).
Bugs are generally what would fit that description, a few verifications help, but 100 people saying "me too!" doesn't help devs.
A development thread is to talk about bugs and such. Not asking about the camera 1000 times. Or if the battery mod is there.

LTE problems
Hello everyone,
I just flashed the cm10 jb preview. It is absolutely fantastic. I have one problem, I can't seem to get 4G network status. I am currently stuck at H. I am on ATT btw. When checking APNs, I am using ATT LTE. I'm not quite sure what I did wrong and have been searching the original cm10 thread for an answer.

Are you in an LTE network area? CM shows your true network connection, not the marketing speak that AT&T uses. H is HSPA+ which on stock showed up as 4G. So if you're expecting it to say 4G, H is the exact same thing. If you're expecting the LTE logo from stock, then there is an issue as you're not connected to LTE. On CM, when you connect to LTE it'll show the 4G icon.
It might seem somewhat confusing but you can thank AT&T for that HSPA+ is not a 4th generation network standard, but hey, they called it that and sold it to the public because Verizon was rolling out LTE before AT&T and AT&T felt it had to compete. So rather than just get their LTE butt in gear, they fought a marketing war instead (sadly, this works in America). For more info... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G
thanks

Legitimately LTE does NOT work yet. There is a toggle built in but it's constantly greyed out. I am in an LTE coverage area (Bell, boo ya. ) but doesn't run in CM10.
Thankfully, my 10mbps HSPA+ is doing the job fine right now XD

you have to buy an unlock code from an unlocker online, usually around 25 bucks. Start there, get it unlocked so it can recognize a T-Mobile Sim.

1/ The "NOT COMPATIBLE" issue(s) have to do with phone's freq. bands compatible with T-Mobile as a carrier operates on...etc
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...e-3g4g-hspa-on-your-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717/
2/ The unlocking paid service is only a "SIM UNLOCK" that let you be free of choice of carriers.
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...our-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717-bellrogerstelus/
~~~
Point #1:
having a compatible freq. is only the start, at what freq. each individual carrier operates at what speed is another thing... hence the GNOTE is compatible for T-Mobile but NOT necessarily getting the 3G, 4G, LTE, the way the phone is designed for... to some, it matters... to others, the beautiful screen just blinded them from other considerations.
Point #2:
applies to all phones ( you have to know your phone's limitation before you buy...etc
unless you are upgrading a hardware with a carrier supplied phone ... SIM unlocking is NOT necessary until a point in time when you wish to change carrier ...etc )
ie:
contract ends... oversea ...etc.
if you're gonna do what the guy above me said, i'd recommend that you try the following
i'm on tmobile, using saurom, and latest blaze modem
however, here's what im running in to
the latest blaze modem that was released yesterday has increased my speeds by alot
yesterday when i was on telus sgh t989 modem, i was getting about 386kbps at my house and only 2 bars of service (my fiance's phone was getting around 2684 kbps with 4 bars of service, i wasn't happy). on top of that, at the time it seemed as though my 4g was having a bunch of micro disconnects. also my upload was around 2kbps
today i come home and try the latest blaze modem, and my download went up to 3.8kbps (decent improvement i would say), but my upload is around 10mbps... when looking at the other thread for the blaze release, there was word on some sort of update, so im hoping that will yield me better results
Where Can I Find The "Latest Update" For "Blaze" ?
AT&T ICS Radio - GPS Broke
AT&T JB Radio - Network Shows Maritime (not AT&T). "According to dvhexer Maritime is also AT&T." After placing a call it shows disconnected and appears in the notification pulldown / status bar (Call does go through however). Some users experienced fast data speeds and better battery life over the ICS radio.
N4 (mako) 0.48 - No LTE (Currently running on my device with T-Mobile's Network)
N4 (mako) 0.33 - You tell me.
Thanks for making an all-in-one radio thread. As far as my personal experiences with the other radios...
.27 - Good data, slow gps lock
.33 - Way better data speeds, still slow gps lock (still took a bit to get a good lock but slightly better than .27). Also, not sure if it was just me but I noticed the data would "stall" out at times. Switching airplane mode on/off seemed to fix it.
As far as differences between the AT&T ICS/JB modems...I noticed only a slight difference in data speeds but the GPS lock speed is marginally better in the JB radio. The Maritime network issue on the JB radio is harmless but annoying to people with OCD...
I would generally agree regarding .33, though I didn't get vastly better speeds than JB modem, only marginally better. I did get data 'stalls' on .33 that I have not experienced on JB modem.
My favorite for call reliability (incoming) is the AT&T JB Radio, despite the odd bug when making a call.
So what radio came with Rootbox? Because I'm on that and it doesn't say maritime or anything. Also gps doesn't lock unless I run gps fix and signal strength is worse compared to stock ICS
Yup. I was on the Canadian RootBox since February (or maybe March?) after flashing the Canadian TZ. Then I LGNPST'd using TeenyBin. I have never seen "maritime" a single time.
Flashing with the newest cwm on houstonn's PA and the latest houcha kernel I've found extremely good and stable results out of mako .33 radio. No call bug, GPS locks very quickly with great accuracy and so far no excessive heat or missed calls or signal issues on hspa/Hspa + network. Will be going in to lte country and will do some additional testing tomorrow. Battery drain has been on par with the default jb radio from att.
No radio from ICS,JB or att modems will activate LTE on this phone if your on T-Mobile. I have T-Mobile and LTE in my area and I have possibly tried everything I can from turning on LTE on the hidden service menu ( must be on stock ROM to do this) and build prop. No AWS support for this phone.
I live in solid LTE country, but am getting throttled for abusing my unlimited plan, so my test numbers will be useless till the 15th. But when I'm back to speed I'd be happy to thoroughly test these radios. Any tips for how to standardize these tests to make it as scientific as possible? Maybe agree to a certain rom, a specific build date, a specific kernal and speed test app. Then test gps lock time/accuracy, lte ping/speed, and hspa+ ping/speed. I have access to an AT&T microcell if anyone would be interested in those results as well.
Does anyone know of any reason why the combination of flashing one radio then the other might fix a problem, that flashing just the one radio won't? And if so, would it be possible to create a hybrid radio which combines the best properties of the two radios so as to remove a step from the flashing process?
No. Basically he flashes the OG Pro radio which removed his previous radio. Then he flashed the mako radio which removed the OG Pro radio. Someone correct me if I am wrong.... These radios are closed source and extremely protected. Hacking them can lead to bricked phones etc. I have yet to see a modified radio for any phone. There is a reason radios typically are not included is custom ROMs.
Hope that answers some of your questions.
Please note: flashing the OG Pro radio is not recommended nor does it fix any issues with our device.
The 5 ghz issue was fixed and you can not access any channels above 11 on the 2.4 spetrum while in North America. Its an FCC law so yea.
There are some dirty hacks to get both your router and client on the restricted channels but again it's illegal per the FCC.
I'm using the stock CM camera, it won't save to SD so I set it to internal storage and it won't save there, either.
Grabbed another camera from the market, it saved the first pic, none after that.
Weird, back to a TouchWiz ROM for now... Can the CM team take a look at this or am I the only one having this problem?
Can anyone speak for how this compares to CM10.1 on the S3? I am currently running this and am mostly happy but suffer from reception issues in low signal areas which is common with all AOSP ROM's on the S3. I've read that the S4's radios are superior and the Google Edition RIL blobs recently introduced further improved this. Can anyway say if this is true? I am debating if it's worth switching.
As of a this mornings update I've been getting an extra 2 bars on LTE in my house in spots where I have normally seen only 1 bar
It is most definitely true. Reception is fantastic as of July 1st nightly
That's great news. Hopefully others are seeing the same sort of thing. I love my S3 but it drives me crazy to be places and lose 4G when friends with other phones have no such problems. Thank god for Google Edition phones!
I just purchased my S5 yesterday (April 17th), but I regret selling my M8. I thought the S5 would have more dev support and more ROM's than M8, but I guess I was wrong. On the T-Mobile M8 Android Dev section there is a GPE ROM and a RUU to covert the M8 to stock android.
I was expecting like 5-10 ROMs on the S5 already (as was with the Note 3), but I guess I'm wrong? Or can I flash ROM's meant for the non T-Mobile S5?
That's my main question.
Where are the ROM's?
wow really?
Impatient much?
You do realize that this phone came out less then two weeks ago.
And I am sure that not that many people have jumped to this since there were so many people that develop that are already on the s4 and the s5 is not that much of a upgrade for them to switch.
Not to mention that the AT&T and Verizon cariants are not rootable yet and more developers are typically on those networks to begin with.
Give it a little more time for the others to get root and developers to move over and get used to the different setup and roms will come.
You can flash the international ROMs but you'll lose WiFi calling. Remember that this device has barely been out a week and already on back order for many potential purchasers. Be patient, custom ROMs will come soon enough.
Haha I could care less for WiFi calling, my DSL is 2MB/s anyway, so its not like calls through WiFi even work.
That was my question, so now I will begin downloading Echo ROM.
Last question, will I lose 4G LTE flashing these ROM's?
Thanks!
Well just saying the M8 has more ROM's and even stock android flashability (made that up )
Seriously though, there is a GPE ROM for M8 that allows you to flash back to stock still, and the RUU Google Play Edition, which essentially converts the M8 on T-Mobile (and other carriers) to a GPE version of the M8 permanately.
I haven't tried it, but I would assume it works fine as long as you keep the T-Mobile firmware. There is some discussion in the general thread about people running the international ROMs as well as in the international forums, look around. I think we'll start seeing custom ROMs built from the T-Mobile base sometime next week at the latest, I'm content with root for now.
There are no gpe version of the s5 so that makes getting that much harder. And really only 3 roms for the m8. The stock, the gpe, and venom (modded stock).
Not a great amount there yet.
Just need a little more time.
I agree, but the M8 Android Dev thread still has more threads, when it had a locked bootloader! You can argue since its easy to unlock etc, but come on. I remember when the S4/Note 3 had dozens of ROM's in like 2 weeks.
I'm thinking of upgrading as well, but coming from carrier specific devices (the Samsung Infuse, ATT only, and the Nexus 4 on Simple Mobile), there hasn't been different variants. So the T-Mobile devices is compatible with ROMs built for the international variant? Would the kernels for it be compatible as well? The only thing that would be lost would be the carrier specific additions such as built-in VOIP? No differences in partition layout?
Just flashed the Echoe ROM for my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5, and I can confirm I'm NOT getting 4G LTE. I'm only getting HSPA+
Not sure if I need to add an APN or what, but wanted to let you know that 4G LTE does NOT work immediately after flashing that ROM.
It did flash? Wonderful! Please let me know if the issue with 4G is kernel/radio based, or just due to a missing/selected APN.
Many thanks in advance,
APN shows T-Mobile, so I believe its just a kernel/radio issue. It's up to you if flashing a custom ROM is worth no LTE.
You need to verify the T-Mobile APN. Maybe the settings are not for T-Mobile LTE. I had the same issues after my flash but I am on AT&T. Just make sure the APN settings match that of T-Mobile LTE. Carriers have more then one APN.
Our Lg G2's are compatible per this website as well...
I haven't seen any increase in my area yet (greenville, sc) even though it's listed on verizon's site as one of the initial cities. Anyone else noticed a difference in their dl speed?
I just got off the phone w/ a verizon rep who said that there is nothing we have to do... a software update will be pushed to the phone. I am assuming this won't be the case for those of us who have a custom rooted device so it will be up to our devs!
More than likely just an updated modem...shouldn't take devs very long to make a rec flash version
Odd. The article was written well over a month ago and I'm just seeing/hearing about it now. So it's as if we're already benefiting from it, yet I haven't heard any dev mention anything about it or about including it in their rom. Maybe there is nothing for them to update, no?
Pretty much this. As long as you have at least the 12b modem that is all you need. Its been active in the NYC area for months now.
I believe it was the 24b modem that enabled AWS, but either way it was since this past winter.
anyone seen this in the Tacoma / seattle area?
