I have a big problem. I was trying to install the newest Renovate ROM, and I think I did everything correctly. I pasted the ROM into my phone's storage, booted into recovery, and installed it choosing the "update only" option (I had Renovate 2.1 before).
Everything seemed fine, except rebooting the phone takes me to recovery, and every reboot option I could find always reboot me to recovery. I can also get to the bootloader, but eventually I ended up back at recovery...
What should I do? I have a Nandroid backup of the phone before I flashed Renovate 5.0, should I full wipe the phone and restore that backup?
Any help would be appreciated.
You should read before you mess with your phone.

Restore your nandroid as long as all was working well before your issue.

Hi Guys,
First post here.
I've started installing VillainRom 1.4 following the instructions contained in the official thread in the Dev Forum.
However, having selected to flash the zip file in CWM and watched the installation process start, my screen has now been displaying the blinking VillainRom logo for about 45 minutes. Is this normal or has something gone wrong?!
I plugged the phone into the mains right after the logo first showed up. Would this have made a difference?

If your coming from a stock ROM you need to perform a full wipe in CWM before flashing.
Look through the options in recovery, wipe your data then reflash the ROM for good measure.
All should be fine....

So should I just turn it off, boot in recovery and look for the wipe option, wipe the phone, then restart the installation process?
Yep, boot into recovery then select;
"Wipe Data/Factory Reset"
"Wipe Cache Partition"
"Advanced>Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Then flash the rom again.(This step may not be required, but it cant hurt).

One further question.
I've got VillainRom successfully installed now, but when I attempt to restore the apps and data that I backed up using Titanium Backup my phone reverts to it's pre-Villain state.
Is there anyway to restore my data but keep VillainRom? Am I being completely dense?!

That sounds strange. Titanium backup in itself cannot "revert" you to the previous ROM. That's not possible
What do you mean by its pre-villain state by the way?
When I move between different editions of the ROM, I do a titanium backup via the app. I then reinstall the ROM, and select some apps to restore. I am still running the same ROM (confirm via Menu > settings > about, and scroll to the bottom. It should show as VillainROM 1.4.0.

By pre-villain state I mean the stock firmware that came with the phone. I looked at the settings and it put me back onto the original firmware.
This was also confirmed because after installing VillainRom, restoring and then installing VillainTweaks, VTweaks told me it couldn't function because VillainRom wasn't installed.
From your reply I think the mistake I might have made was to restore from CWM rather than re-downloading Titanium Backup and restoring through that. Would that be correct?
I flashed a ROM (InfectedROM) all was working and the phone was up and running until the phone crashed. The phone then went into an endless reboot so I booted into recovery (TWRP) and I restored the nandroid backup I made before I started, but now it goes to the HTC splash with the white background and won't do anything else.

Well I managed to kinda fix the problem. I booted into recovery and selected wipe all data (Factory reset), then I re-flashed InfectedROM and managed to get the phone to boot. Still can't understand why my nandroid backup don't work to make the phone boot.
I would like to revert back to the stock ROM but being able to use my phone is better than not...

Well when you did this did you fastboot boot recovery.img and wipe and then try the nan? Maybe what you need to do.. Also if you make future ones I would fastboot boot recovery.img and then make a nandroid backup..

1) unlocked my bootloader via HTC's unlock method leaving my phone's bootloader unlocked with s-on

So you are on the latest software? If you want something close to stock just to keep things smooth you could try fresh rom or my rom I did both of these are stock based... If you want just the stock look with stock everything go for the stock rooted copies they have in the dev section..
I never made a nandroid copy of my orignal rom since a ruu will always save you when you have to unroot
Does the nandroid back up cause reboots or a hang... Sometimes it takes a good 3 mins for it to move on depends...
When you made the nan backup were you on the 2.08 software or the 2.17 ? Did you update to the 2.17 after you made a backup in the past?

I am indeed running the latest software. Thank you I will check out your ROM!
My nandroid back backs up and restores fine but after I reboot after doing a restore the phone does not boot, it just stays on the HTC logo with the white screen.
I did not do any updates after I did my nan backup.

the boot.img file you have in your restore set up is invalid... i would try to resave your settings agin and then restore from there...boot.img should write to the boot partition if not through recovery then through manual flashing in fastboot
MeanROM is also pretty nice. It is like FreshRom and CleanRom in the way that it is based around Stock, except that it has some pretty beefy features.

I got a problem.
Got tired of lags, so i decided to wipe (data + dalvik) and reinstall Omega 27.1.
Now i can't boot up the phone - it just starts up CWM (6.0.1.2) when i reboot. Have tried to pull battery and when i insert it recovery just comes up.
What have i missed?
I have tried to install again, with and without wipes but still the same.
Can't restore nandroid either. Getting error on restoring /data, and just comes back to CWM again.
I'm kinda stuck.. ideas?

Just did a nandroid restore, error on restoring /data as always, but i rebooted and got into Android. I had to type in my google account information again, and all apps crashes all the time.
So I rebooted to recovery, and installed 27.1 (did a full wipe again), and now i can't get past recovery again.

If you can get into download mode, flash a stock rom samsung www.sammobile.com with ODIN, then get root permissions and cwm with ]cf-root 6.4

Can't be the boot.img, because restoring the boot (wipes+restores) doesn't work. And installing a new rom also adds a new boot.img.
Hi everyone, I have a problem with my phone.
It is no longer booting into the OS, instead it boots into the recovery mode.
So here's what happened. I was on Google Play Store looking for some utility apps, and found this "[ROOT] Rashr" app, read its details and got interested in it since I also do wanna try to back up my CWM Recovery. I don't even completely understand what it means, but as what the apps says, I really thought that with it, backing up my recovery will be very easy, just like how ROM is backed up when you do a NANDroid backup. So, after it was installed, I head on to its Back-Up section, ticked the box for "Recovery", and tapped on "Go", expecting that it would work. It said "Rebooting..." and booted to recovery mode, so I thought that I had to complete the "Recovery Back-Up" inside CWM, so I spent time looking through the options. And, this is where I discovered that CWM has a rainbow color mode. When I found out that no signs of back up could be done in CWM, I rebooted from within CWM. BUT, it still booted to Recovery Mode.
I tried . . .
Odin, but since it boots only to recovery, Odin isn't detecting it.
Wiped the data, cache partition, and Dalvik cache. Then restore.
Can this be fixed? I badly need help.
I have:
CWM Recovery v6.0.3.6 (used when I rooted the phone), updated to v6.0.4.5 (current)
Stock ROM 4.1.2

Finally fixed it!
What I did:
1) Flashed the stock Recovery. I was surprised it was able to boot to Android cause I was thinking that the zip is only the stock recovery. It had errors though. Home Screen won't appear or load.
2) When rebooted, it got stuck in SAMSUNG boot animation, but it was all good cause Odin was still able to detect it which means it can still be rooted. So . . .
3) Flashed CWM Recovery v6.0.3.6
3) Wiped data, cache partition, and Dalvik cache.
4) Restored the backup.

Alright, I know enough to be dangerous. I rooted my Samsung tab a 10.1 by installing twrp and then super su, all went fine. I then began to try and make a nandroid back up. It kept saying unable to mouth data, so I read a little and I changed data format. This caused a boot loop. Went in and changed back data format and used twrp to reset. All was fine again. I then attempted to use titanium backup. I recited a message backup was successful and reboot. I rebooted and now a boot loop. I then tried to reset with twrp and my file is gone. So, I downloaded what I thought was the right firmware to flash with Odin but just made that worse. Does anyone have a download for a rom I can flash with Odin to get this thing going. I have downloaded a couple and the either don't work or are the wrong one. SM-T580.

Alright, I was using an olsee version of odin, got the new one and I was able to flash a rom. It says tab a 6 on boot up bit it is functional. Now my question? Can anyone recommend a custom rom that is nebiew friendly. I'm food at following directions and problem solving but I about had a panic attack, I just got this $300 thing. Sigh off relief for at least getting it functional again.

Ok so I have flashed a stock rom, 6.0.1, flashed TWRP, and installed SuperSU. all is working well again. However I am still getting "unable to mount data" message in TWRP when i try to make a backup. If i uncheck data on the list it backs up fine. This is what got me in that boot loop pickle before when i tried to change the data format. What data format? Idk, im scared to jack with it anymore, and im done with titanium backup, it has burned me in the past, though i think what went wrong there was when i backed everything up i then went and change data format and after all that restored and the backup was in a different data format. Idk newbie guess. I am just trying to getting a reliable nandroid backup. Anymore ideas? Perhaps i should just leave it alone and be happy with just having root.
