How to remove Cyenogenmod - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Samsung Galaxy Express (sgh-i437) with cyenogenmod 10.2.
I am also using a mac (mountain lion)
How do i remove cyenogenmod using the mac to install the stock firmware?
I have heimdall install and i have downloaded the firmware i need (I437UCALI6_I437ATTALI6_ATT.zip)
I have also set my phone on download mode
When i open heimdall , i just assumed i need to select the md5 file within the firmware zip file, when i do that after the extraction, heimdall says that the file is missing firmeware.xml.
am i missing something?

How can I install stuff outside Google.Play?

I am trying to install Xbox Media Centre from their website. I've downloaded the relevant tar file but I don't know what to do with it.
Anybody able to tell me how to install a tar file?
Yes I understand the dangers of not playing in Google's safe playground, but isn't this Android and not Apple?
Cheers
Tar file?
I guess you downloaded from your phone, so maybe you just need to rename the extension from .tar to .apk
If you're unable to install it still, you may have to extract the .apk from the tar...use winrar(?) on windows or androzip on android and see what is present inside the tar...
And oh, in settings>applications, make sure that "unknown sources" is checked...

If its .tar most likely you would have to flash it with odin or clockworkmod recovery
Not sure but...

[Q] Anyone have directions for creating a personal odin tar?

I have been doing a lot of restoring, it would be nice to just be able to push the flash rather than geting an os installed, installing a recovery and then recovering.
I saw something for another samsung device and it involved dd'ing files and then putting them into a tar. but i suspect the /dev/xxxxxx files would be a different name on the GT10.1?
Thanks
Rob
I've tried opening a tar file before, in it was all .img files eg. system.img, boot.img and so on. So my guess is you have to create the .img files, tar them up and flash via Odin.

Right, but they are dumps of the /dev/system|recovery|... file systems from using dd to get a binary image, they are not the files like in a zip. which is why, if my reading is correct, zips actually get processed (extracted and moved) and the files in the odin.tar are binary dumps and they just get splatted back out into the file system like a Norton Gost restore. The trick is knowing which /dev/xxxx/ systems to pickup. I found a link right before leaving for work that seems to suggest if I get rooted and busybody on, I should be able to run an fdsik -l and get a list of the partitions.
I just got the stupid tablet back to stock ICS 4.04 this morning after running updates last night, so I hope to have some time play today.

No-Wipe Factory Image

I'm wondering if anyone has a different upload site for the no wipe ME7 factory image. I'm trying to return my phone to stock from root and every zip I have downloaded from android host has an error when unzipping the md5. I would really appreciate this if anyone has one available. I tried it from the OP of the original thread, but like I said the host site or file is being difficult for me.
Edit: Found some mirrors, and everything downloads fine, problem is everytime I extract the file it says its broken and it won't unzip.
You dont need to unzip the md5, just use the md5 in odin.

I know, but the md5 comes in a zip file and I can't get the zip open to get the md5 out lol unless I'm able to flash the whole zip, but last I looked I couldn't, it wouldn't even show the zip to select.

Are you using 7zip?

I tried it with both 7zip and windows explorer
Edit: I ended up getting a new s4 today which had MDK on it which led me to downloading the md5 for the MDK version and I realized what had been missing was the .md5 on the initial zip of the folder which was why it wouldn't flash in odin nor would it unzip. Thanks for the help, I was having a blond moment lol

Fastest way to batch install tablets

Hi,
Tablet version:
Galaxy Tab 4 SM-T530
I am searching for the fastest way to batch flash a group of tablets.
I've wrote an android app, and this app needs to be in the rom.
So i need to modify a rom, and add my app to it.
What i've tried:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/rom-slimrom-5-0-1-alpha-0-7-t2963906
Downloaded the rom above
Unzipped it to a folder
Downloaded the tool below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...tool-tool-unpack-repack-dat-img-v2-0-t3284806
Extracted the system.new.DAT and added my app to it
Repacked the rom, to system.img
Extracted boot.img from the cyanogenmodrom
Extracted the kernel : boot_matisselte.img
Created .TAR's from those .img's using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269
Flash with odin.
Odin does accept all of the .TAR files, but when i turn on my tablet, it is stuck on the 'Samsung screen'.
Who can help me out, or point my in a good direction?

flash firmware using heimdall for Linux

Heimdall for Linux and mac - this is a program that is used on Linux that's similar to Odin for windows. It is capable of flashing extracted tar firmware AP,CP,CSC,and BL using download mode for Samsung devices.
This is not my program.
Also I am limited to Linux for heimdall so testing Mac I can not do but Instructions to install will also be posted using a link
I am testing how to flash the s7 for others limited to Linux or mac.
Linux install of Heimdall on Linux:
Go to the official website here: http://goo.gl/PQC1RN
Scroll down and click on Download(for Linux)
Click to download the Heimdall version for your Linux version (EX. ubuntu13.04-heimdall_1.4.0-0_amd64.deb will work with 14.04 & 13.04 64bit)
Click and download the frontend if you don't like to work inside the terminal
Open your Downloads folder and click to install the files you downloaded
Remember to open Heimdall as Admin(sudo) so it works correctly
Mac install:
http://rootmygalaxy.net/install-odin...3-for-mac-osx/
Steps to flashing frimware on linux:
1. open terminal and type sudo heimdall-frontend
2. look for flash tab
3. extract firmware zip to a folder then create 4 more folders named AP,BL,CP,and CSC
4. Rename AP,BL,CP,CSC by removing the .md5 part of the file name leaving only the .tar at the end
5. Extract each tar to its specific folder
6. Under the flash tab look for pit file and click browse, goto CSC folder and click the pit file
7. Now look for add and from the list under partition details choose which file to add then click browse under it should have the file name you are looking for under partition details if unsure what to put, go through each folder you made and keep adding each file
8. then click start
This is capable of flashing the firmware , as in the pictures it shows it works and fails, i am thinking because i am flashing all at once instead of each folder separate, or in the wrong order
there are forums on xda on how to use heimdall more extensivly but im just doing this for the s7 so productive comments are welcomed
Also this is being tested on a sprint version of the s7 g930p that has been flashed to g930u firmware, in the pictures im flashing a firmware i already have installed just incase i mess up
Worked like a charm for me, this post needs more attention.
