I have a e970 lgog
It is rooted and unlocked with a custom ROM
I want to do a complete master reset and bring it back to a fresh original new phone
Reason being is that I have a lot of garbage file build up and want a new start
My question is, if I do a factory reset will it affect my phone being rooted and unlocked?
Do I have to revert those before I do the reset? Or will it stay rooted and unlocked?
Any tips on the best way to do this?
Thanks

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006946 Look in the FAQ. Basically you have to LGNPST (check out Teenybin Thread in Android Development), then Factory Reset through settings. That will get you back to 100% Stock. I always give very vague instructions to encourage reading. Hit up the threads, the answers are out there.
If you want to keep the same ROM, rooted, and unlocked, just Factory Reset through recovery.
That's not a vague answer right to the point

I see there are a ton of threads on restoring your NT to a factory state and I'm just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction towards the one method that works best. I don't need to reroot, I just need the device back to factory state so I can sell it. I'm currently on 1.40 and rooted via the very first method (can't even remember the name of it) from waaaay back.
Anyhow help would be appreciated.

don't you just unroot it using indirect's app and then just do a factory restore by doing the 8 failed boots or something like that?
I did a search for unrooting, but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I saw one person asked about restoring to factory defaults, with a reply suggesting to reflash to v10e with the offline LG update method. However, if I haven't actually made any changes, could I just use RunMe_L9.bat again and select the unroot option, then restore to factory defaults? I'm using P769 (T-mobile) on firmware v10e.
Thanks!
If you go into supersu app under settings near the bottom there is a full unroot option.

I see, so as long as I stay on v10e, it's easy to root and unroot as needed? Is everything really that easily reversible? Frankly, I don't know why I would want to constantly root / unroot; I just want to know if it's possible. My experience with rooting on Android has been limited to CM9 on an HP Touchpad thus far.
Yea you can root and unroot as much as you like as far as I know. I've read some people on here getting the 10g update pushed to their phone while they were sleeping though, so I would keep root installed and make sure that voodoo has your root backed up at all times.
Better to be safe than sorry but, I want to do a factory reset because my phone is acting very weird, should I unroot my phone before I do the reset and when I do the reset, I will loose root, correct? (My goal is to loose root for the time being)

What base are you on?
The short answer is that whenever you need to do that, you can always flash a full-wipe factory signed ROM image, which will clear the flag.
When I was on MI1, I used Triangle Away to clear the flash counter and "Custom" flag with some experimentation.
I think that using that on MJ7 will set the "Odin Warranty Void" flag which is not currently recoverable.
So, don't worry about it until you need to sell your phone or return it. If you really need it cleared right now, you'll need to flash factory stock and lose root in the process.
I decided to remove root so that doesn't matter to me, do you know where to find a full wipe factory rom?

The easy way to a full-wipe is to use the Verizon Recovery Assistant - plug your phone in to your PC and a drive will show up with the recovery assistant.
Otherwise, search the "Android Development" forum for your build for the appropriate full-wipe ROM.
Please keep in mind that doing a full-wipe install may make it impossible to root in the future.
I won't be rooting again, thanks for the help.
Would a factory reset remove root?
My config:
Apollo, FireOS 14.3.2.3.2
Rootmethod: towelroot

Soory stapler85. I'm posting bull****.
Again: I don't have safestrap, therefore, I've only the stock rom. However, at I'm going to do a factory reset in the near furutre, and was just curious, whether the device must be rooted afterthat or the factory reset would not affect the system apps/data.
Its funny when people post a question, get an answer, and then claim they dont like that answer.
Perhaps if you gave correct information you would get the answer related to what is going on. You said you were on a ROM slot, so factory reset of that slot will NOT make you lose root just like stappler85 said. Now you just said you are not on a slot but on regular stock, so yes a factory reset probably will make you lose root of your stock system.
If you think about it. You are going to root the stock rom anyway. Why not factory reset FIRST so you know it wont mess up. Then root and SS etc.
But im sure factory reset on rooted stock rom will mess some things up. This device seems unpredictable and probably amazon intention to deter messing around with.

If you read his post he explained that safe strap does not exist for his version of kindle. Therefore he did not receive an answer for his question and your entire post is in error, as well as utterly useless. As for this particular device I can't say but on MOST android devices I've owned root stays even after a factory reset. Must re flash or Un root on many of my other devices I've had to reset, just re downloaded supersu.

You should not lose root by doing a factory reset on a working system. You may however lose superuser app if you do not have it installed into system . Open superuser be sure binaries are updated scroll down in settings and be sure superuser is installed into system and you will be fine . To do a factory reset per security settings . Keep in mind if you want to do a reset it will wipe Sdcard and everything you have copied to tablet so backed them up onto your PC and put them back if you wish to keep it

Thanks to all who are commenting on this post. I started a similar thread earlier because I didn't realize this one was asking a question similar to what I would like to better understand.
I rooted an HDX 7 running 13.3.2.2 using Towel root. All works well. I may sell this tablet in the very near future in order to upgrade to an 8.9 HDX. Is there a simple process for fully UN-rooting this tablet and resetting it back to stock as if it just came out of the box? I am not concerned with losing any personal data on the tablet.
I stress simple because my skills are limited and I do not want to risk bricking. If the risk is too high, I would rather sell it as rooted and erase all user data.
