Your IMEI number is lost so just recover it by Hex Editor Method search for fix IMEI issue by recovering IMEI number you will able to do calls and all..

most likely not, sometimes it still says you have service but won't let you make calls.

you would get their imei details, not advisable, I believe it is possible to edit the contents of the efs files, but I never tried this before
I think its because omega v14 uses a custom kernel compared to v13 that uses stock.

It comes from rom and not kernel!
If a custom rom include Kernel X and messed up the efs then all people who flashed this Kernel X on their phone (with stock or custom rom) should have the same issue
Now this issue only seems to happen to those who flash Rom Y including Kernel X and do not seems to hapeen to those who only flash Kernel X
The best answer would be to ask to rom dev why his rom messed up efs in some phone...

i was running with temasek's CM for a long time now.
Then i wanted to try out the Omega ROM and installed it. With this install i bricked my EFS partition. I had many tar.gz backups, so i restored it.
(Just unpacked it to /efs with a root explorer. After that i had to change "OFF" to "ON" in /efs/FactoyApps/Factorymode and it worked with the Stock Rom (flashed with Odin).
No Generic IMEI and i was able to phone someone.
But however, when i want to install ANY custom rom, i cant unlock my Simcard! I type in my Pin, but it wont unlock. The Pin-Screen wont go away.
Why? With Stockfrom (via Odin) it works without any problem.

have you read the IMEI sticky thread in General > Sticky roll-up? If not, please do.
Omega bricks nothing. It is an EFS upgrade. Please read about it.

It might not be a bad idea since mg4 changes efs format and might solve is problem in worst ill have to back and restore efs

NO!!!!
The Patched MG4 Modem is ONLY for people with Serial Number 0000000000000 who can no longer use Ariza patch! If your serial number is correct, do not use the patched modem.

I update my samsung galaxy s3 from 4.0.4 ICS to 4.3 JB using Odin3 and it is successful. after it restarted i saw emergency calls only, btw im from philippines. my sim card works fine i inserted it on my other phone. My samsung galaxy s3 have same imei as i check on the back of my phone,as i dial *#06# and as i check to about device. i dont know what to do please help me

i suggest you flash 4.1 Rom first . something to do with EFS partition. EFS1 and EFS2 somethinfg like that. i think thats what causing this problem.
if possible flash 4.1 ROM first and then flash 4.3

If you did http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/kernel-devil2-2-3-2-omni-cm-samsung-t2528624 the first flashers LOSE Their baseband too.
Try to read the thread on how they fixed the problem. Are you running on CM? Dual Boot?

Bump for me
Flash the full stock rom for your country with Odin then factory reset in recovery. If efs is not read by the stock rom then restore your efs backup.
No backup then you'll have to pay for a repair.

If your IMEI is 0049 or null, try to use a patched MG4 modem first. Revolutionary roms don't have modem in them so that can cause some issues occasionally.

Hello There,
I think the problem is the rom itself, i advise you to degrade your phone to its stock rom/orig rom and find a better rom.

Ps there is a way to find what was the original ROM of the phone?
Ps the imei shown on the phone is the same of the one shown on the back of the phone
Is this a good thing? Means no corrupted imei?

- I would recommend never to post imei anywhere
- If the imei matches then all's ok.
- Stock rom depends on the country. You can search on sammobile and flash with Odin. 4.3 not recommended if you like flashing roms.

I am using an international version of galaxy s3 in Pakistan. my previous stock ROM was I9300XXUGMK6 which is UK based and it was working fine in pakistan. Today I downloaded I9300XXUGNB6_I9300OJVGNB3_PAK ROM from sammobiles and flashed the ROM on my phone using Odin. After installing that stock ROM my phone is giving error of "Not Registered on Network" whenever i try to make a call. my IMEI number is same as printed on the back of the phone. signal bar is also full. when I manually search for networks then it also shows me all the network name in the area and when I select the network it give me message that network registered. but I could not make the call after that.
Plzzz help me....
Search and read there is no easy solution. Try a patched modern and kernel, which are usually needed when the efs has been broken.
