How to clear the phone? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, my phone is full of sh*t, sorry for this. I mean I have a lot of folders, apps and stuff like this that I don't use anymore and the problem is I don't know how to delete it all. So I want to reinstall to default my phone, with no downloaded apps from market, old files and etc. What should I do? Also thinking about downgrading my 2.3.3 version to 1.6, but I can't find tutorial with details for my problem.

Sounds like you're talking about a combination of internal data and the data you have 'collected' on the microSD card.
Stick a SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSD card in your phone, link all your data/apps to a second 2GB ext3 partition on the 64GB card using Link2SD.... job done.
Then you have almost unlimited room for junk in your trunk.
You can always take your microSD card out of your phone and place it in a PC and back it up as it's FAT32 and your PC can read it just fine.
Otherwise, a USB connection to the PC and backup the card that way.
Then you can replace the microSD card in your phone and format it.
Using PC companion or SEUS you can re-install the GB 2.3.3 fw anew.
[Myself] I'd root the phone and then remove all the bloatware in /system/app
This'll make resources available for the 'real' applications and improve the X10i response.
I can think of no valid reason to re-install Android v1.6.
Many applications only support GB 2.3 and greater now and you'll just be creating a whole world of pain for yourself.
I have a pseudo GB 2.3.4 fw build mostly sourced from the XPERIA LT26i on my XPERIA X10i with only 95 system apps and the phone is running brilliantly with 80MB memory free at idle.
If you respect the fact the XPERIA X10i is not an XPERIA Z1, I think it's still an amazing phone even this many years on.

Change Titanium Backups to the Ext card

I saw this comment by another user in another thread this morning and guess that many people don't do this automatically.

The update destroys your internal sd memory, this is where titanium likes to back up . Enjoy going through the pain of re-installing all your apps from scratch. ( for the love of god change where titanium backsup AND sync it to your drop box) Every thing in your download folder is also going to be vaporized.

When I setup Titanium Backup, I always make sure that it is using the real external SDcard instead of the internal card it uses by default. I'm surprised the app doesn't ask when it is run the first time, but it doesn't.
It is easy to change, especially if you don't have any backups yet. Even if you do, it will move them to the new folder you setup in the process.
The mount point for the external SDCard can be one of two though I normally use the system default one which is
Code:
/mnt/sdcard/ext_sd

I use BOX to sync 1 copy of my backups (I have 3 histories) rather than using my dropbox because I have a 50gb box account.
If you think about it, having TB store on the Internal card doesn't do you much good if the unit dies. At least by syncing it to the external card you can take it out of the phone, but if you lose the phone altogether, you lose all your backups if you don't make a habit of copying them to another source which if you do manually won't work because you will forget to do it.
I made the mistake of flashing the RUU and expecting titanium backup to restore all my old apps. When I loaded it I was pissed! I think this thread will help some people restore their apps.
Yeah I saw that comment as well. It always takes me longer to setup my phone up because of things like this. One of the first things I do after flashing!
I didn't realize people didn't know about that function.

Internal SD full?...

Hey guys
So for a while now I've been having problems with my internal SD card being overly full and I can't figure out why. Here's a pic of it:

I have CWM installed and I know that takes a lot...but it seems as though it just seems to get more and more full even if I don't do anything. I'm using Camera JB+ to store pictures to my SD card, and all my music is also on my SD card, as well as my CWM backups.
Any ideas? I have tried clearing cache/dalvik after updating CM10.1 but it doesn't change much...
Thanks,
Elliott
What's that misc. over there? 9 GB of crap?
Looks like a bug, nothing in the cm thread?
Sent from the little guy
I have no idea what it is...I've used the "DiskUsage" app but it's majorly confusing...
Install a storage app that can show folder sizes like Folder Size Chart or Storage Analyser etc. Then you can find out what is taking up space.
if you are on cm10.1 nightly then remove viber & lucky patcher if installed.
you might flashed 20130121 nightly... this may help you
see this & this
if this didnt help you go to CM10.1 forum and search there. u will definitely find solution

Go into system/log and delete everything. I got back over 1.3 GB on the 2 GB SD partition.
Thanks but I don't have a system/log folder It's really full now to the point where it won't let me take pictures anymore...have been using 3rd party camera to save to external_sd...but I like the original camera.

[Q] Changing Partition Table

Hi everyone!
I was reading some things in the forum and looking to my phone things and realized something: We have 16GB of internal storage, but it's very partitioned!
I have an Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus 16GB too, and I can use as internal mem an amount of, approximately, 12~13GB to store my things, while we can only use 8GB on Moto Razr XT910. I was looking to the partition table and saw that our storage is half partitioned. You can see by opening a Terminal Emulator and typing "df" on it. You should see something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you can see, our storage is splited in many partitions. I want to know if it's possible to merge any of these partitions and have our space back.
For example, the webtop partition, which is not used by Android 4.0+.
Any of you have any idea about it?
Interesting
this was possible in htc, you had to have an unlocked bootloader and be s-off, achieved by running a script made by revolutionary team, and you could modify the partition sizes.. i don't think you can do this in our razr
When i started to look for a solution to increase internal storage size, i came up to an official 4.1.2 rom xml file for CHINA xt910 which was mentioned to be repartitioning the internal memory to 9.3gb.
Consider i'm using a cid7 (euro xt910) with cid deleted and flashed the following file with rsd lite.
fastboot-p2b_spyder-umts_spyder-user-4.1.2-6.7.2_GC-384-402-release-keys-ChinaRetail-CN_chn.zip
Now my device has 9.3gb internal memory and cdt.bin secure version had increased to v5. This means that i can't flash old ics roms with rsd lite.Well, i really don't miss the oppotunity to downgrade to ics anyway. In the meantime i have root and boot menu manager installed, so lurking between roms are as easy as it was.

Great!
But it still not enought... If the full storage space is 16gb, 9,3gb still just "a little amount"...
I think I will still studying how the things are working on this phone so, maybe, I could someday give you all an solution to this problem...

[QUESTION][GalaxyS2] Questions/Help with internal memory, customized ROM, "true" fact

[QUESTION][GalaxyS2] Questions/Help with internal memory, customized ROM, "true" fact
(1) I need to completely wipe, remove, restore my phone to absolute stock. I am having some weird issues and want a "clean slate" to work off of. I currently have AJK (with custom initd and extweeks), cwm recovery, and cyanogen installed. I want all of it removed and want to start from scratch. What's the best way to accomplish this?
(2) upon completing Q1; I have a very small internal phone memory, somewhere around 1/2gb but I have a 32gb SDcard -- is it possible to format my SDcard to allow it to be used as "phone memory" so I can have more apps installed? I know there is the "move to SD" options, but this is not what I am looking for since this does not work for widget apps. Also I have a difficult time downloading apps without getting the "insufficient space" error via the play store during app installs.
I am so tired of having to uninstall apps just to install or test new ones. There has got to be a way to use my SDcard as phone memory
I have:
- 100mb out of 1.97gb on Internal Storage (/system)
- 7.82gb out of 11.36gb on Internal Storage (/sdcard0)
- 14.84gb out of 29.32 on SD Card (/sdcard1)
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So even if I could combine /system and /sdcard0 to become /system and only have 1 sdcard partition would suffice
(3) is it possible to customize/package CyanogenMod to install NovaLauncher (remove/replacing Trebuch) and SwiftKeyboard (instead of AOSP keyboard), amongst other apps (I have the .apk files) so they are installed by default? Also removing apps like Apollo and DSPmanager.
(4) what are some custom scripts, init.d, extweeks, etc you guys are using that I should look into using to get the best performance, battery life, speeds out of the GS2?

Device Backup advice

HI all, does anyone know of an app that works in the same way as the built in google backup works, except it saves to a local pc over wifi on a schedule?
The 15Gb cloud space is nowhere near enough for me but I have a server with plenty of space, so makes sense to use that.
I have seen a few apps that backup media, but I really want everything backed up (sms, app data, wifi passwords etc)
Is this even possible with a 3rd party app? My phone is a Honor View, The official huawei app (hicare) does most of them but needs the device to be plugged in via USB and I don't think it will let me restore to a non huaewi phone in the future.
Edit: forgot to mention, locked bootloader so not rootable

Yeah I'm afraid the backup solution you were searching for is one who needs root. But I can suggest something else. You can transfer the data you have on your drive (files other than backups) on your server, it will leave room for backups.
Otherwise you may wanna consider rooting, if it is possible with this Huawei model (that's why I hate Huawei, but don't get me started on that lol)
Have a good day
@flamery
1. No root mode is required to create a backup
2. Hint: Backup to an external SD-card. Use Super Backup app. It's a free-of-charge app.

BTW: To root device's Android its bootloader must not be unlocked. Has nothing to do with each other.
Thanks both I will check it out!
Although I just discovered something interesting, if you change the setting in Google photos from original quality to high quality they don't count toward the 15Gb quota so I just freed up a lot of space.
