[Q] htc amaze wifi error - HTC Amaze 4G

im currently running ViperA1.7.1 I was previously using Energy_8.6.2012.Amaze.Sense.3.6_ICS both worked well no problems, but after about a week or so I start getting wifi errors and have to reflash the rom. ive done this numerous times and it gets tiresome having to set everything up again. is there a reason why I get wifi errors periodically ?

I'm not sure. But Viper is funny with wifi. Only with Viper I can't sign into my college wifi. Either way. Back up, format all partitions (except sd) , flash and restore?
Sent from my Amaze 4G using Tapatalk 4

oh ok whats another rom I should try ? I did the format, flash, and restore but wifi still isn't working.

Alright here we go,
If you haven't done so already, flash the most stable T-Mobile RUU. The most stable is not the latest. If you are S-OFF then you don't need to relock the bootloader. The RUU is NOT a stock custom ROM, it's a program that flashes the original stock ROM onto your phone and usually fixes all software related issues.
Check to see if Wi-Fi works. You can unlock the bootloader again if you're not S-OFF then re-root.
Now you may flash a ROM.

On this one I don't know if I can agree with you. Here in Miami, where T-Mobile has already finished refarming and reallocating its bandwidth from the Metro acquisition my WiFi and data is better than ever with the latest baseband. My connection is both fast and stable, and I don't have a single issue. This wasn't the case a couple of months ago, but then a call to T-Mobile tech support resulted in them giving me a new SIM card which resolved all of my problems. My previous SIM card was only 6 months old at the time, but tech support informed me of changes in how the new cards are programmed to take advantage of the new post merger configurations. Like I said, my service and connectivity is now the best it's ever been with the latest radio ruu.

I need your help!!! My bootloader was unlocked... and then i flash the t-mobile RUU!!! but i still have the problem ... what should i do ?!?! (

Does it say "Wi-Fi error" when you turn Wi-Fi on? I mean in the settings menu where it normally says "connected to..."
If it does you have a hardware issue.
There are two tricks to try.
1. Clean the little gold connectors on the back cover of your case. Those are the antenna connectors. Use a rubber eraser on a pencil. Get all the rubber shavings out before you reassemble.
2. There it's a tin foil trick that is a hardware mod. There a thread on it with pictures. The jist of it it's to put foil over the connectors to give it a bigger antenna. There are pros and cons of doing this. I did this for a while and didn't really see any results.
The Wi-Fi issues generally with earlier versions of viper amaze were from modules that didn't match the kernel. That has been resolved since before I added the aroma installer.
Also, one last thing. If you have two amazes ruining viper, they screw up the Wi-Fi. Going from sense 3.5 to sense 4.1 and up, there's something weird about how the phone gets its address, so if my dev device is on and Wi-Fi is on and my daily phone is on with Wi-Fi on, I don't get Wi-Fi on either.
Hope that helps!

I have seen much worse here. Some people spell "Chevy" as "CHAVY". I even saw someone spell Chevy as "Chewy". I want to cry because it was so bad but I can't. -_-
Someone spelled my name as "Superafman" once, I think it was shubham.
It can't really be helped.
If XDA had a voice-messaging feature and we could record our voices and send them, you will be surprised at how funny people on this forum will sound!

[Q] No Signal After Flash

I have scoured and exhausted all my resources trying to figure out where I went wrong besides not making a backup.
I unlocked my device and rooted it before attempting any of the following.
I got my HTC Rezound and flashed the CWM Recovery image 5.5.0.4. After I flashed the boot image CleanROM 1.5.5. When my phone booted up I had lost all signal. For some reason it occasionally gives me 1x then goes back to no signal at all.
Figuring it was something wrong with CleanROM I followed the super noob guide to installing ZiggyROM. I flashed over the recovery image with the one requested in the thread.
Again when my phone booted back up I have no signal.
I would appreciate any and all help given to me.
Thank you

Touchscreen quirk fix

Hope this isn't too misleading.
I was having touchscreen issues to the point where the phone was basically unusable.
Read somewhere about sgs touchscreen booster fixing issues on other phones, but the guides wouldn't work on the 3vo.
After some research on xda I found out that the issue lies in the multitouch software, so, in sgs touchscreen booster:
Lower multitouch points to one. (from five)
This has done the trick for me, and gestures like pinch to zoom work flawlessly.
Let me know if this works and I'll edit the post to be more user friendly.

Mine has always been hit and miss with the apps. Like browsers. Opera mobile was smoother for me then Firefox and the stock browser was smoother and more friendly for me on certain sites.

My phone had the same issue months back. I brought it into Sprint and paid the $15 fee for them to fix it (they thought they could just replace the screen and that would fix it). They replaced the screen, and said it was still having the same problem. They ended up giving me a "new" 3D, one that was returned within 30 days of the previous owner having it.
mine does this thing where it i can't use the far left of the whole screen. i'd say 30% of it. i can still manage but sometimes its like there is a ghost playing with my screen not letting me text lol.
i thought about taking it to sprint but my bootloader has relocked at the top. im not sure what to do. i thought of replacing it myself but i could risk completely breaking it, i think.
i tried this method with the sgs booster but it didn't do anything for me
My phone is completely unusable because of the touch screen. Unfortunately this didn't' fix it.
I've been having a quirky touchscreen too and just left sprint. They ordered me up a new phone and said the touchscreen was bad.

I've had this problem as well. As the digitizers have been known to fail, I ordered a replacement. However, right now I'm on CleanRom ICS and have not experienced the problem (and it was pretty bad before). Previously I had switched between many different Roms and always experienced the problem. So, I don't know if it is just a fluke that it seems to be working great now or what. It's made me question whether I should go with the replacement when it arrives, or keep my current phone.

Service Update (Ver. ???)

My phone just blanketed my screen with a notification that there's a Service update. Simply written "The update is complete and changes will now be applied"
Kinda irked cause it didn't notify me that there was one that i could simply DOWNLOAD, no it just downloads it, and wants to apply it RIGHT away. What the hell is this new update? i'm pretty sure a'lot of you are going to see this pretty soon, otherwise i can only cancel it by pressing home, but it KEEPS COMING BACK.
Edit: should i really be scared about it? i mean the boot loader is already unlocked by HTCDev, should i REALLY care about this update? well besides getting rid of root... now that i think about it.. but then again. I might just let it do it so everyone knows what version it is, and what exactly it entailed. i swear if i get locked out of root from this ill get mad, but whatever. xD FOR SCIENCE!!!!!!! as it were
Edit2: sooo now im feeling kinda dumb, i just realized that it could have possibly just done a profile update itself, the notification went away after pressing ok, but the device didn't reboot. but then again i dont see anything that could have updated. WTf did i just experience? XD does this phone have some ability to update the profile or PRL itself?
Check your prl # in settings and tell us what it says
Edit: yea nvm that was deff. a profile update no worries needed your good

[Q] 2.04 update on GSM

Hey, guys. I bought a Droid DNA to use on AT&T. Everything is working fine, but it came with the older software version (1.5) and I'm not planning to root, so I wanted to update it to 2.04.
The problem is, it's not an option. It seems like it will only let me update if I have a CDMA signal. Anyone know a way around this? I already took out my SIM card and set it to CDMA mode. That actually lights up the "check for updates" button, but it still doesn't find anything. There has to be a way to update this phone without Verizon service.
You could root then flash the ota

It probably had something to do with the fact that I specifically said "without rooting" and that was the immediate response...IDIOT.
Example:
Question: "Can anyone recommend an action movie that doesn't star Bruce Willis".
Answer: "I recommend Die Hard".
Duh?
It's not helpful to suggest the one thing that someone says they don't want to do. That's what I would classify as smartass. I was trying to see if anyone else knew of another method. The friend sim card came up as an option later. I suggest you check yourself.
For those crying "root" because the phone was on a software version that allows it, I flip my phones pretty quickly and I don't want to permanently unlock a phone that I will probably be selling or trading sometime in the near future.
