Hi, if you browse a little those forums, you'll get your answer, i think
People with the i527 seem quite stuck, so it's probably safer to go for one of the international versions. i9205 and i9200 both got some early developpement while the i927 has root with difficulty ^^

Its pretty simple. Do you need LTE? If yes get the i9205. If not you gain another 8GB extra and a FM Radio with the i9200.
Cant comment on the Rogers i527 as I'm not from the US.
Wait till the note 3 is released and watch for that to be rooted. I think that's when the Mega will become mega

If the Rogers model is boot loader unlocked then the advantage of 4GLTE is considerable.
As it happens I chose the AT&T version which is boot locked for the moment but I can live with that to get the huge speed increase of 4GLTE on T-mobile. With the international versions you'll never know how good the phone is if you are in the US.
I bought the GT-I9205 last night. Should be here Tuesday or so. I hope it gets some development loving.

I hope it has 4G on AT&T. I know it doesn't have LTE
What carrier/plan do you want to use it on? If it's the TMobile $30 plan I'd suggest the AT&T model and just dealing with it. VOIP has only proven useful to me over LTE.
I have a AT&T 6 GB share plan with my wife.
For me the i9200 performed much better than the i9205. Not sure if the LTE modem on the i9205 had different firmware for camera and other things.
The i9200 had a better camera quality for me.

wait a minute. the SGS2 is being sold unlocked already from most places. so if you buy one it will just work on tmobile USA, just pop in your sim and go. however the SGS2 will not support tmobile USA 3G so you will only be stuck on EDGE/2G. nothing can change that.

no that wont work either unless the phone is specifically made for tmobile usa 3g bands. when the USA versions come out, they are already confirmed for ATT, verizon, etc, but no tmobile. none of those versions will work on tmobile.
this has alreayd been covered, and the only choice you have is the samsung Hercules coming in place of the SGS2 to tmobile.

Yeah guys/girls at Verizon stores are stupider than my door knob, example went in to the store today to get a 4G LTE sim card for my thunderbolt that's been sitting in my night stand and now my sister wants to use and the lady and guy both working said that not only I needed to bring the device in but now there's a fee for the sim card :what:
I attempted to get the S3 as a replacement and from my understanding the only way it would be possible is if there was a certified like new device available.

First of all, the phone has already been released in Europe and parts of Asia for some time. Second, a while back somebody leaked the official samsung software rom for the S3, and hackers made quick work of it and had a root method within a day (http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/05/samsung-galaxy-s3-rooted-stock-rom-leaked/). If you google "samsung s3 root" you will find lots of pages telling you how to root. Here's one example of such a site: http://theunlockr.com/2012/05/26/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s3-smartphone/
I know people are saying that you cannot get a S3 as a replacement but in my situation they did give me an early upgrade to a RAZR Maxx. I had to pay 200 for it but I at least got a phone with good signal. I asked about the S3 as an option and the csr said I could if I was willing to wait. I had another upgrade coming so I had already preordered the S3. My wife is getting the RAZR MAXX and she is thrilled.

from what i've heard all of us in north america (canada, America, will get the exact slab of hardware, Also at&t's source was just released tonight so sit tight maybe by the end of this week its gonna be rooted!)
Here is proof that phones get rooted before release all the time. ATT, Sprint, and T-Mobile S3s' all have been rooted before anyone has the phone. I'm sure that Verizon's is just around the corner.

Both AT&T and Verizon appear to be equal in almost every aspect in my area( Coverage, cost of the plan I need, subsidized phone cost), so that leaves the 1 question that really matters:
Which is easier both to root, and even more importantly, unroot to the point I can still use my warranty?

Anyone,
I'm not an android noob, but I left Android a few years back (2.3.3 / 2.3.4) due to work changing to iPhones for data encryption reasons. I came back to Android when more Samsung phones started supporting ODE (on device encryption). I would like to root my phone and have done so on other Android phone's using SuperOneClick, CWM, etc.
I am reading that there is a secure boot loader on the AT&T version of this phone in USA, so I am screwed in gaining root access to the device? I'd really like to delete all this bull**** bloatware they've installed... and a tethering app without using the carrier option.
Can anyone help?
I have the AT&T version as well. I'm not 100% sure that the bootloader is the reason for no root yet. Other phones have locked bootloaders and can still be rooted.
Running custom roms might be another story. I get the impression that because this is not a "mainstream" phone that it does not get top priority. For example, the Moto X on AT&T has a locked bootloader and that's rooted already, but it's a very popular phone.
Hopefully we'll get some love sooner rather than later. I would be happy with root along with an easy way to go back to stock.

Does straight talk get lte on the at&t galaxy mega and is the upload and download speeds fast ? I have mines unlocked and wanted to know if I should jump ship from at&t and save money and go with straight talk?
But has root been achieved on the
I527UCUBNE7 ATT 4.4.2 ?
Looks like NO....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2739011&page=52
AND I feel stoooopid for buying mine before I knew it could be WIPED of all the ATT BS.
If you can afford to buy the international mega, do it you won't regret the purchase, I personally got the I9200(no LTE) but I don't care because I was grandfathered in the unlimited data plan
The real question is why did you post this in development section
