On my 3rd replacement - HTC Droid DNA

Well getting my third replacement tomorrow and the rep said if this one has issues they will offer an alternet phone, Does anyone know what the phone or phones may be? I really like the DNA but it seems to have a few hardware issues and I need a real reliable phone but man I don't want to loose this beautiful screen lol

Normally they'll offer some garbage, but if you remind them you have an HTC and part of the manufacturer warranty is that it has to be an HTC you might get a One.
Otherwise I'd tell them only a Note 2 or GS4 is a comparable phone.

My rezound is going wonky and in need of a new phone. Question is should I get the DNA or hold off and see if Verizon get the HTC one? If I get it, it will be as a 2nd line.. should I get it and also wait til Nov for my normal upgrade and get whatever new phone comes out near x-mas?

I don't believe they are getting the one. The DNA is the best your going to get at the moment. Unless you wait for the gs4 that comes next month. Verizon is also supposedly getting the Motorola x this June. But the DNA is $49 with a new contract right now.

If you like custom Roms and kernels and such I would not recommend it. There's nothing wrong with the dev community but if you buy it now you won't be able to unlock etc unless you send the phone off.
I would wait for the gs4 personally.

Ok, yea I have been looking at the gs4 too. I might wait for that, just not a big fan of Samsung.. why can't the DNA be unlocked now?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Btw, when I say 2nd line. I mean I'm going to add a 2nd line but take the better phone and use it as my personal line(1st line) and put the rezound on the 2nd

The latest ota has not been cracked yet and as of now it looks very unlikely.
I'm currently just waiting to see what happens until the GS4 is released.
If we get a fully functional CM10 on the DNA I'll be perfectly happy but who knows.

Do you really want to play the "maybe i'll wait just a few more months for this newer phone to come out" game?
I'm sure the GS4, and HTC One are great, but DNA seems just as impressive ( based on video reviews of all ). Once Verizon releases sense 5 for it being rooted won't make a difference.
Rezound to DNA was an amazing upgrade, so much more battery life, NO HICCUPS, and an even more gorgeous screen that can be on for 4-5 hours compared to 1 hour, lets not forget 24/7 4G without battery drain.

No, I don't. But I also don't want an "outdated" phone.. that's why I'm getting ppls opinions and what they think. Especially the ppl that have the DNA

And yes I know new things come out all the time and its hard to keep up. But is it worth it to spend that kind of money on a phone that in a few months will be beaten by something else?? Is it worth the money at this time? Or wait for something better? .. I know near x-mas there will be another awesome phone, and I will have an upgrade then to get it.. but for now, is it worth the money to spend on the DNA when in a few months there will be something better????

Just wait for the DNA-HIV, it will be sick (pardon he pun).
And yes, there will always be a newer and better phone on the horizon. Just get one that at least has staying power, ie fastprocessor, lota of ram, and a good screen.

Just be prepared to jtag it.
DNA is a great device, I switched between this and my GS3 before I sold it and was extremely happy to come back to the DNA. Root would have been a deal breaker for me but since I unlocked and rooted before I took the OTA updates I was able to root again on the newest update. HTC has also always always (I don't care what anyone tells you) had better overall reception and not just with service and 4G but with WiFi Bluetooth too. My GS3 sucked when it came to getting strong signal and I doubt the GS4 will be any better with it, Samsung has always lacked in that department.

Yea, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get tomorrow.. rooted is good, but its not gonna stop me from getting a device cuz I can't root yet. I know how good the devs are here at xda, so I know its just a matter of time... Just because the people who are working on it aren't posting public updates on what theyre doing doesn't mean it isn't being worked on, and by some pretty damn talented people might I add. Anythings possible. All it takes is for someone to get lucky and find an exploit that lets us get rid of write protection for any amount of time.

Miss my HTC One.

Hi, I bough the HTC one when it came one on T-Mobile, then after 4-5 days of use I decided to return. The reason was I had the Galaxy s3 before and thinking that the Galaxy s4 is much better watching online reviews. And I went and bought the international version of Galaxy s4 i9500 for $775 cash. Thinking its octocore and it has to be unbelievably fast. Now after using the GS4 I realized that HTC one is a much better and faster phone. Everything on the one is PREMIUM.
Now Im trying to get rid of the i9500 and get the HTC one back.
Just sayin dont trust any reviews on the youtube they are all bull****

If the ui on the s4 was just as smooth as the HTC one it would be hard to choose. The s4 has a lot of customization.

I will never buy a phone with non removal battery. Its stupidity. Here in europe you get 2 years for warranty and 6 months for battery. If you are unlucky after one year and battery is gone you have to pay to much for a replace battery or if you try to change it by yourself you loose warranty. Thats stupid in a phone of 700 or more euros. And so far i saw from comparison s4 is slightly better. Thats all because I say. Lol

Why be so childish over a phone? If you don't like the HTC one then why are you on this forum? No need to bash other phones just because you "think" yours is better. I have the HTC one and I love it because it's for me, my girlfriend has the gs4 because she's used to touchwiz and I've played with it and it's also a great phone. Stop all the bashing and just enjoy your phone. It's all about personal preference.

Because Android and iOS have polar opposite philosophies. Android offers users choice; and choice leads to freedom, ultimately entitlement. iOS says my way or highway. Capitalism vs. Communism.

Got the new One in Black!!!

I had the silver a couple of weeks ago than traded it in for the gs4 which was just horrible. Today my new HTC one arrived in black. Now I'm faced with a decision. Yesterday the GS4 had an it's update which made the phone work as it should finally, but I love the One. We all know the background on which phone can do what and why one might be better than the other. But now that the galaxy works well and the lag is gone I'm having a real tough time deciding on which to keep. The note feels amazing in the hand and is true quality with a great keyboard but the screen size on the gs4 is so much better when surfing. Help me decide guys. I will post this on the gs4 forum as well.

I actually cancelled it when I found out I would have to wait for it and ordered the silver which was later exchanged for the gs4 then on Monday I got an email that it was being shipped. The cancelation never went through. Worked out well though. Now I get to play with both the gs4 and HTC before making the decision on which to keep.

No don't get the L9. Get a replacement amaze from htc directly. The L9 isn't as great quality as the amaze. You could also keep bugging them for an upgrade or complain about it, that worked sometimes.
But the amaze is great material, great performance, and better specs to be honest. That was my opinion though.

Try and bug them and maybe ask for a device like the sensation which is a bit underpowered but it seems worth it because of the insane development, they also have JB Sense.
You might want to try and ask for another phone but chances are slim. Just bug them.
You can also threaten them and say "I will never buy HTC again and will make sure people my family and friends won't purchase htc phones ever again."

I received an HTC One as an insurance replacement for my old HTC Titan. The website offered only the silver, but I was able to get the black that I preferred when I called. So far I'm enjoying the phone and getting used to Android.
I had massive issues with the 4 Note 2s I was sent as replacements, so they gave me a 64gb One (silver). This was through AT&T, not assurion (the insurance company)..
How were you able to deal with att instead of asurion??
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Late reply, but once again, because I don't know where the misconception comes from:
ASSURION IS ONLY FOR LOST, STOLEN, or DAMAGED (liquid, fire, physical) PHONES. FOR WARRANTY SERVICE, YOU GO THROUGH AT&T AND IT IS FREE FOR YOUR FIRST YEAR.
Again, all caps, because I must have repeated it about 1000 times over the years.
If you have a WARRANTY issue, you call AT&T and speak to the warranty department.

What are you talking about? Its not "free" AT&T will not replace your phone.

AT&T honors your warranty for the first year, and yes, it's free. Call the warranty department and they'll handle the exchange. Not sure what YOU'VE been doing, but I had to go through more than a few defective refurb phones in the past year, and they were ALL exchanged, free of charge, through AT&T's warranty department. No, I don't pay for insurance either.
Like I said, if it's a DEFECT, AT&T will exchange it. If it's damage, then you go through insurance.
Yes warranty service is free from AT&T.

Yes I know this. But we aren't talking about defects.
