HTC One as a replacement device (insurance) - AT&T HTC One (M7)

My sister had the HTC One X until it was stolen, we had been paying the monthly insurance fees and we were sent the HTC One as a replacement device.
+1 AT&T.

Lucky you. I am a new comer to HTC since the sensation and its horrible battery. But this phone is super amazing.

I want to replace my One X, but I really want a black One. Think it would be possible to take the silver one I receive from insurance to a store and exchange it for a black one??

You could probably sell it and then buy a black one. You might have a to fork over an extra $50

When I got the wrong phone it said one x+ on the receipt but the price was correct for the 64 gb One that I ordered
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta

It seems as though this is no longer the case. Friend of mine just tried doing this and they kept giving him the one X as a replacement. Hope some of you were able to take advantage.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app

I received an HTC One as an insurance replacement for my old HTC Titan. The website offered only the silver, but I was able to get the black that I preferred when I called. So far I'm enjoying the phone and getting used to Android.

I had massive issues with the 4 Note 2s I was sent as replacements, so they gave me a 64gb One (silver). This was through AT&T, not assurion (the insurance company)..

How were you able to deal with att instead of asurion??
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app

Late reply, but once again, because I don't know where the misconception comes from:
ASSURION IS ONLY FOR LOST, STOLEN, or DAMAGED (liquid, fire, physical) PHONES. FOR WARRANTY SERVICE, YOU GO THROUGH AT&T AND IT IS FREE FOR YOUR FIRST YEAR.
Again, all caps, because I must have repeated it about 1000 times over the years.
If you have a WARRANTY issue, you call AT&T and speak to the warranty department.

What are you talking about? Its not "free" AT&T will not replace your phone.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium

AT&T honors your warranty for the first year, and yes, it's free. Call the warranty department and they'll handle the exchange. Not sure what YOU'VE been doing, but I had to go through more than a few defective refurb phones in the past year, and they were ALL exchanged, free of charge, through AT&T's warranty department. No, I don't pay for insurance either.
Like I said, if it's a DEFECT, AT&T will exchange it. If it's damage, then you go through insurance.

Yes warranty service is free from AT&T.

If you just signed a contract, bring back your X and get the X+. If you're past your return time I personally don't think it's worth paying full retail for the X+. I have both and the X+ is nice, but not with paying $550.

I was concerned with it myself, but so far it's ok. Battery isn't quite what I expected, but I'll take that to get the additional storage. With this being rooted with an unlocked bootloader, I'm guessing selling it won't be a problem. Especially if I can get the SIM unlocked.

Search eBay to see what One Xs are selling for. You can select to view completed auctions, that should give you a good idea what your phone is worth.

You should at least go and talk with the store manager at your local AT&T store. I bought my One X on Sept. 24th and the manager let me return it last Friday (11/17) and pay the difference for the X+. He didn't even charge me a restocking fee. I just paid the $100 difference.

Wow thanks I'll get right on it. Lots of help.
Is there really no manufacturer warranty for this type of thing? I would hope so.
There is a one test manufacture warranty and they have to replace it for free because it's a manufacturing defect.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium HD app
VZW normally has a one year standard warranty against manufacturing defects, replacement will be a clnr if they have them, new if they dont, at $0.00 cost. Only time deductible applies is for abuse (broken phone, dropped cracked screen, water damaged) and lost/stolen phones.

Warranty services.?

Will AT&T warranty services replace my phone for a hardware defect?
I've had my phone since release and the glass is raised on the left. At first it was something I could deal with but it actually seems to be getting worse. I feel it every time I pull down for notifications.
It's been too long to get a replacement from the store I bought it from so I'm wondering if AT&T will help me.

start by asking is manufacturer defects are covered by warranty. Describe the situation.
They said I have to send it into HTC to get it repaired instead of getting a new phone.

One more time, since it seems it's never clear:
Warranty is for DEFECTS, like the gaps, raised screens, etc.
INSURANCE is for **** that you do to your phone, like a broken screen, liquid damage, fire, theft, etc.
AT&T covers your phone with a 1 year warranty regardless of if you have insurance or not. The insurance extends the warranty past the 1 year though.

I don't think you should do that. You said you called AT&T, but I was told by the repair department that going to a store and reporting your problem would get you a new phone.
That's not always the case. Every time I've gone to the store after the initial return period has expired, I'm told I have to deal with warranty services. In fact I have had sales reps in the store call them for me. Store reps have little to no power unless you are dealing with a store with a repair center on site. There isn't one of those within a hundred miles of me, so I just call warranty services.
Btw. New phone arrived yesterday and it doesn't have any problems.

Absolutely not. Maybe if it's a repair center (which are relatively rare), but outside of those shops all AT&T warranty work is done over the phone.

On my 3rd replacement

Well getting my third replacement tomorrow and the rep said if this one has issues they will offer an alternet phone, Does anyone know what the phone or phones may be? I really like the DNA but it seems to have a few hardware issues and I need a real reliable phone but man I don't want to loose this beautiful screen lol

Normally they'll offer some garbage, but if you remind them you have an HTC and part of the manufacturer warranty is that it has to be an HTC you might get a One.
Otherwise I'd tell them only a Note 2 or GS4 is a comparable phone.

I've had that issue before, I'll get up and the phone falls on concrete. That is the moment where everything stops for a second.
Well...... If it REALLY bothers you. You could always smash the screen and get a free replacement via the 6 month warranty program lol Unless they just actually replace the screen
But in all seriousness that's a bummer.
wow sorry man. That happened to me with my note 10.1 2014 edition. I pulled my laptop bag from my car and somehow my tablet fell out and landed on gravel. camera got messed up and the worst part of it was it's the white version so there were a ton of black scratches all over the back and screen. If your within your 14 days call at&t and they will hold $200 on your card ship you a new one with a box to send the old one back once they receive the damaged device your money will be released or you can call them and setup the exchange and do it in a at&t store that way they don't hold your money.
