Will AT&T warranty services replace my phone for a hardware defect?
I've had my phone since release and the glass is raised on the left. At first it was something I could deal with but it actually seems to be getting worse. I feel it every time I pull down for notifications.
It's been too long to get a replacement from the store I bought it from so I'm wondering if AT&T will help me.

I am pretty sure they will. Call up AT&T and complain about it. They more than likely will send you a replacement unit.
Well it took an hour on the phone with AT&T in conjunction with getting HTC on the line, but I'm getting a new phone.
Here we go...

Yeah apparently HTC has had a ton of these hardware defects and warranty covers all of them. A rep said that if you notice one, call right away.
Ima call tomorrow. The gap on top has progressively gotten worse since I've had my phone.

Hey gunny, when you called Att did you go through warranty or insurance?

Warranty
Insurance said I had to pay $200. I'm gonna call again and talk to warranty.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
start by asking is manufacturer defects are covered by warranty. Describe the situation.
They said I have to send it into HTC to get it repaired instead of getting a new phone.

Could always call and talk to someone different.. worked for me in the past when I had my captivate that got replaced 5 times in a year before switching to an inspire at no cost to me..

I'm not gonna bother with it. I'm just gonna send it in and be done with it.

One more time, since it seems it's never clear:
Warranty is for DEFECTS, like the gaps, raised screens, etc.
INSURANCE is for **** that you do to your phone, like a broken screen, liquid damage, fire, theft, etc.
AT&T covers your phone with a 1 year warranty regardless of if you have insurance or not. The insurance extends the warranty past the 1 year though.

Next time get their name and speak to a manager. They either didn't understand the problem, or were spreading false information.

I don't think you should do that. You said you called AT&T, but I was told by the repair department that going to a store and reporting your problem would get you a new phone.
That's not always the case. Every time I've gone to the store after the initial return period has expired, I'm told I have to deal with warranty services. In fact I have had sales reps in the store call them for me. Store reps have little to no power unless you are dealing with a store with a repair center on site. There isn't one of those within a hundred miles of me, so I just call warranty services.
Btw. New phone arrived yesterday and it doesn't have any problems.

Absolutely not. Maybe if it's a repair center (which are relatively rare), but outside of those shops all AT&T warranty work is done over the phone.

This phone is awesome until i make or receive calls. I've tried numerous roms and modems that all result in the same result which is muffled voices that i often can't even understand. Seems that its when im talking to iphone users more than anything but its always there. My inspire was great with phone calls and really never had an issue understanding with any phone I've ever owned. Very frustrating and even happens on headset and Bluetooth devices. Any advice, anyone else experience this?

If so, try it with and without it.

It very well may be a hardware issue. It happened to me on my last SGH. When I got a new phone, I haven't experienced the issue.
Try getting a replacement with whoever you bought the phone from. I had my phone replaced via hardware warranty and not insurance, so I got it for free.

That's probably what I'll try. I bought it over the phone with at&t so I'm sure they will want me to send it in since they aren't selling the sgsII over the counter here in austin (they are pushing the skyrocket). Sucks to be without a phone for a week or so!

You'll keep your current phone until they mail you the replacement. Then you'll pack your old phone into the box and ship it off. Make sure you've flashed back to stock and removed any trace of root because if you don't you'll lose warranty.

It should be pretty easy to make a claim on faulty hardware when you do it online and send it in, I haven't had any issues with call quality or anything so I'd guess it's a hardware issue
also I've done this before, except I did it with insurance claim, and I'm pretty sure they sent it with like FedEx overnight shipping too so you wouldn't really be waiting either

Between my wife and I we got 3 refurbished captivates. They all looked brand new. I think att has them do a really good job of refurbing them.

I was told that a refurb may have new or refurbished internal parts, but an all new exterior case, screen, etc.

I would rather have a refund than a phone someone already used and broke. I buy new, I expect new.
refurbs are often times just a new phone that they cannot sell as new because it was opened. No scratches or damages but its still new.
Refurbished phones right now are basically still new phones. Most of the refurbished phones were phones bought brand new and returned within the 30 day free-exchange period. Some people didnt like it and a lot of people returned it for the Skyrocket... so AT&T has to resell the phones as refurbished even though there was nothing wrong with it at all. So now is the time to buy a refurbished phone.
I got my Dad one last week and he got it on Thursday. Its completely brand new. Not a scratch or anything on it. He got it for $9.99 and its perfect.
of all the refurbs I ever received from AT&T, all of them looked new.
I was up to 4 Captivate refurbs last year and they all looked brand new.
Interesting, not having any call issues with my phone.
Is there any off name that will work with the att version that is white and not 30 bucks?
Would AT&T replace it? Since day one , 1 tab will not stay
if its less than 30 days, they should replace it no problem

well, unless you get a sympathetic service person, I doubt they will do anything after 30 days, unless you bought the insurance...

Call up 611 or find a service center they will replace the phone since its a manufacture defect. Service center is different than a retail store but they can point you in the right direction.

So how would that stop someone from actually doing it? If the reason they claim said "lost" phone is due to them dropping and breaking it, they likely aren't gonna want to use the old one anyway. Sounds more like a way to avoid having to pay full retail price for a replacement rather than a way to have two working devices both for the same price.
Cept you could always get a replacement for what was claimed a lost phone, which then "turns up a few weeks later." only way to screw up is leaving on the lost phone while the replacement is on the way.

Pretty sure it's a one year warranty. I had no issue exchanging through HTC a couple months ago. I was even late sending in the old pair, they emailed and called a couple times, but never got charged by the time I got them sent back in.

how do you start the warranty process?
Just mailed mine off for warranty replacement 2 days ago lol. Still had a couple weeks left under the 12 month warranty. Just call HTC customer service and tell them what's wrong with the ear buds and they won't hassle you at all. They'll email you the address to send them to and details regarding the process.

What this guy said. I got the number off the HTC USA website.

Thanks guys =)
Use HTC's US website and contact customer service I have exchanged my headphones 3 times they short a lot. In my opinion once the warranty is out on them buy skull candy headphones they sound as good or better the full metal jackets are fantastic and are much less expensive but build quality is much better than the beats. Skullcandy also has a lifetime warranty and do a wonderful job of exchanging them if they short out or any other manufacturer defects. But use that beats warranty till it dies then get the SC's

I had my phone replaced under insurance with a new model about 4 months ago. They replaced my Beats headphones as well, and now I'm in the same boat with broken ones. Does anyone know whether my warranty will hold? I am just over a year since the original purchase. Also, if this is something I contact HTC about and I've unlocked my bootloader (obv voiding the warranty through HTC), will they still honor it? I would imagine so, but if someone has been here before, I'd appreciate some feedback.
ActuallyI am receiving a replacement phone today.. will there be replacement buds as well? And I'm wondering how you got a new replacement.. I was told I could only get refurbished device!

I justed called HTC to replace my beats and I now have to fax in a proof of purchase receipt showing all my info, payment, date of purchase, IMEI, etc. Anyone else have to do this? I purchased my rezound new from verizon on 4/02/2012 so it is still under warranty.
I just received my replacements yesterday, all I had to do was give them my IMEI and they verified I was still under warranty (had a day left on my warranty), and they shipped it out no problem.

I called HTC cust serv about the same issue. My Rezound is a refurb that I got through Asurion when I lost my DInc2. Though the phone was a couple months out of warranty, they went ahead with the replacement. The only difference was that they had me send the defective buds in (making sure to include the pouch/extra pads) before mailing out the replacement.
At first, I called Asurion about this, and they promptly sent me some $10 headset.

The evo lte on my line died about a week ago and I'm thinking about going through HTC since the phone is only 3 months old. I don't have time to stop at the sprint repair center near me and I honestly don't want to make time. Their new manager is a witch and I swore I'd never go back.
