I just got my rezound from Amazon wireless. I love the phone however I.have the light leakage and its already overheating. Do I.need to send it into Amazon or can I return it at a local Verizon store? I I've read both circumstances happening. Just wondering if anyone else has done either yet. Also if u send it in can u get a loner? This is my first Verizon phone. Thanks
I think you have to use amazon for the first 30 days then you can use verizon. It may be worth it to put up with it until verizon can help you.

Any way to confirm this. I suppose I can call tomorrow.I'm.stuck in class right now. If that's the case ill def wait the 30 days
I got both a Rezound and RAZR from Amazon. The Rezound is great, but I had some serious issues with the RAZR overheating and searching for signal. Called Amazon, they shipped me a brand new phone. Swapped SIMs, mailed the old phone back. Problem solved, and it didn't cost me a dime. Think shipping was 2nd day air.
EDIT: I also tried VZW first, because it would have been quicker, but they directed me to Amazon.
So they send one first... Have the replacement phones been without flaw or is it the same gamble. Might be better to wait the 30 days and use Verizon so I can check it...

You might have the same problem with verizon. It's a gamble there too.

Well at the store you can check.it before you leave..
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
The only reason I suggested waiting and using Verizon is that Amazon was backordered last time I checked.
Send back to Amazon. I just went through this and don't be afraid by the 2-5 week wait. They told. Me that and got an email a few days later it was being shipped.

Now its 100% certain they send u the replacement first? Last time.I.checked it wasn't back ordered anymore.
And if it heated up I'd go back this one got hot.just doing the start up stuff. The leaking lights bothering me more than I expected too lol.

Amazon is excellent for returns/exchanges hands down. I assume it will be the same process you request an exchange and they ship it out to you. They generally gave me overnight shipping for free (even on a saturday) to get me non-defective item. Then you just ship it back to them within a resonable time frame with the included label and you should be good to go.
You guys do realize Amazon will send you a brand new phone and if you wait 30 days Verizon cannot swap in store and will send you a refurbished phone thru the mail.

Verizon has a 14 day policy normally, but now if you purchased the phone after 11-15 you have until Jan.
Wouldn't the phone have a warranty through htc as well? Sounds like ill be contacting Amazon tomorrow though. Thanks a lot guys. Hopefully that one doesn't have the light leak. Lol watch me have a new problem. Is rather have the leak than pink buttons and all the other problems I hear about...

All of them have the light leak at the bottom. It is simply how it was designed. Sad really considering my Incredible S didn't have this issue.

Read a post where someone contacted htc and they said the phone isn't supposed to do that. Is everyone here having the problem?

I'd be willing to bet that it was a CSA who probably doesn't understand what light leakage is. Between my 3 rezounds and everyone I have looked at in the stores you can see the LEDs through the bottom of the screen when the soft keys light up which is what is causing the bleeding. There is no way to fix it except by turning off the LEDs or by lowering their intensity to improve on the light leak.

Went into verizon and they won't take the phone tho it sounds like I may as well deal with it. They really pissed me off though. I wanted to put on my work discount. Supposed to be 22% line 20% data. I called and reviewed online before I got verizon and the rep told me I would get the discounts. The store wouldn't discount my data because he claimed I need to have a 5gb data and hotspot plan. I was never told this and most likely wouldn't have canceled at&t during the penny sale. Anyone think I could complain enough to get this changed? Can't seem to find a phone number for them to save my life lol

I've been missing calls and Sprint asked me to bring my phone into my dumb local store. The reps ordered a replacement phone but said it was 5 to 10 day wait because they were out of stock. I just find it interesting that they are out of stock by the way they are discounting them.

It's out of stock because of the fact that it will be a replacement (ie refurbished) phone. Those phones come from a completely different place than the "new" ones. Thus the wait. I've had to go through this three times already, every time my replacement phone came in around 3 days. Best of luck

That's cause replacements have to be ordered, DERPS, is what we called it.
Sprint cannot hand out good backstock for problems unfortunately. They order them to the store. They will let you keep your current malfunctioning phone till your replacement comes in.
I worked phone repair for them, although never used their service, t mobile ftw.

While this is true, if they are on backorder some stores lean more towards doing an in-store exchange if they are nice enough. Some customers come in all pissed off and demand a new one in store and if your manager is as much of a pushover as mine, then they will get a new one. They use that in order to eliminate wait for that certain customer. I work service and repair for them as well.

My wife and I just went through the same thing with her phone. Had to order a replacement, was told 3 days, a week later we finally got her phone. Got the phone home only to realize that there were burn-in marks and the buttons on the bottom weren't lit correctly. Fortunately for me they had another one in the back that was much better.
I asked the rep why the 3D was back ordered and without hesitation he told me that it was due to all the issues the phone had. He claimed they replace quite a few a day (for what it's worth).

Just got the same thing from my local store. Ordered a replacement on Thurs, it was "backordered" and 5-7 business days. Picked it up today. Came in a small yellow box that I originally thought is a car charger or something.
Did you break root and restore to original?
Just wondering if the phones that were returned were rooted. I'm having trouble with mine and I'm supposed to take it in to a repair center. How do I restore it to locked state?

Sprint doesn't care if you root your phone now so no need to restore it.
Oh and I took my phone in for a digitizer issue. Was told they had to order me a phone. The new one 'old' one had dead spots in the touch screen now they have ordered me another one. Both times the phone was backordered and there were no other phones on the 'other list'. First time phone took 3 business days to get to me. We'll see how long this one takes.

I always flash a stock unrooted Rom before I bring my phone is repairs. They usually look for the superuser app only though so you wouldn't need to do anymore than that. I had a digitizer issue too. It took them 5 days to get it. I got lucky though, my refurb was in great condition.

There really isn't a "Best Way." Rule of thumb is you're supposed to get a re-manufactured unit by priority, and if none are available at the time, a NIB unit is sent. If you get 3 re-manufactured units in a row, a new one can be requested at that point. I got lucky and got a NIB unit when I cracked my screen. Paid $100 for my Asurion deductible, and had a new one in hand next business day (reported before 8pm EST on the previous business day).

Use HTC's US website and contact customer service I have exchanged my headphones 3 times they short a lot. In my opinion once the warranty is out on them buy skull candy headphones they sound as good or better the full metal jackets are fantastic and are much less expensive but build quality is much better than the beats. Skullcandy also has a lifetime warranty and do a wonderful job of exchanging them if they short out or any other manufacturer defects. But use that beats warranty till it dies then get the SC's

I had my phone replaced under insurance with a new model about 4 months ago. They replaced my Beats headphones as well, and now I'm in the same boat with broken ones. Does anyone know whether my warranty will hold? I am just over a year since the original purchase. Also, if this is something I contact HTC about and I've unlocked my bootloader (obv voiding the warranty through HTC), will they still honor it? I would imagine so, but if someone has been here before, I'd appreciate some feedback.

I called HTC cust serv about the same issue. My Rezound is a refurb that I got through Asurion when I lost my DInc2. Though the phone was a couple months out of warranty, they went ahead with the replacement. The only difference was that they had me send the defective buds in (making sure to include the pouch/extra pads) before mailing out the replacement.
At first, I called Asurion about this, and they promptly sent me some $10 headset.

One more time, since it seems it's never clear:
Warranty is for DEFECTS, like the gaps, raised screens, etc.
INSURANCE is for **** that you do to your phone, like a broken screen, liquid damage, fire, theft, etc.
AT&T covers your phone with a 1 year warranty regardless of if you have insurance or not. The insurance extends the warranty past the 1 year though.

I don't think you should do that. You said you called AT&T, but I was told by the repair department that going to a store and reporting your problem would get you a new phone.
That's not always the case. Every time I've gone to the store after the initial return period has expired, I'm told I have to deal with warranty services. In fact I have had sales reps in the store call them for me. Store reps have little to no power unless you are dealing with a store with a repair center on site. There isn't one of those within a hundred miles of me, so I just call warranty services.
Btw. New phone arrived yesterday and it doesn't have any problems.

Absolutely not. Maybe if it's a repair center (which are relatively rare), but outside of those shops all AT&T warranty work is done over the phone.
