Counter resets on every boot.
Read the return to stock guides located in (yes, you guessed it) Sticky > roll-up thread, where all the guides are.

If i unroot and factory reset my phone still got the warranty?

anyone can tell me about this?
Also use TriangleAway to reset the flash counter and your phone might pass the warranty check. If it's directly from Samsung, I've heard there's a hidden counter you can't change but I'm really not sure of that

Yes use triangle away before flashing stock and do a factory reset.

The idea is, if they cannot tell you've rooted the phone then they have no reason not to give you warranty.
So remember to use TriangleAway then flash the correct stock ROM through Odin, that should restore everything to a stock state. Don't worry about SIM-Unlock

Going back to my stock ROM and kernel

Hi guys, i'm going to sell my galaxy s2 and the buyer want it all stock. I'm using the cm10 ROM on it. I've already downloaded the factory stock firmware on sammobile.com. Until there everything was ok, but now I'm not sure about the way to flash the stock firmware. Should I flash it by clockworkmod, as the customs Roms I've flashed before? Or should I flash it by Odin, like an unrooted phone?
Since now, thanks a lot for your help

Flash it via Odin as PDA
Then wipe all in recovery

when doing this, will the yellow triangle go away, phone get unrooted, and flash counter reset to 0?
cus im sure the buyer would want any avaliable warranty back aswell.
It would probably be good to reset counter before flashing, maybe with Triangleaway. Once i flashed original rom over custom with MobileOdin. Everything went well.

No, to reset counter and remove triangle you can do it either with a usb jig or by downloading chainfire app "triangle away" (Search it on the play store")

When u're flashing samsung stocks it'll does full wipe include rom itself, kernel, root, user data & caches then turn all to factory value. So don't even too worries about all u said above. But it worth to use stock 4.0.3 & avoid stock 4.0.4 in case to avoid emmc superbrick bug if u still doubt about advancing..

If you flash a "samsung official rom" it will take the triangle away but it does not reset the counter.
I have flashed CM9 CM10 and 2.3 stock , 4.0 stock a few times and my count is at 7, each time i flash stock the triangle goes away but the counter keeps counting.

Restore S3 for replacement

Hey guys!
Is there a proper way of restoring the s3 so that I can send it back for a replacement?
I know I can flash the stock rom, but what about the flash counter? Or anything else?
Thank you!

EDIT: ok, i;ve tried triangle away app, and it works, I now have 0 counter and official status. But is this and flashing the stock rom enough?

As far as I remember from other threats you have to have "original status" and the flash counter "0". In addition double check if you got any "root" apps on your S3 or sdcard just in case.

Well yeah. I am going to flash the stock rom, reset the counter and reset to factory settings and format everything before sending it back.
But besides that, do I need to do anything else? Is there a chance that the replacement might get refused?
Thanks!
Yes. These are enough.
