These aren't the same phones, they just look alike. The internal hardware is VERY different, for instance the minis hardware sucks, but the regular sizes doesn't
You can't use their roms for the same reason we can't use GS4 roms, they're different phones.

Differences between models?

Hey, I'm just wondering if there is any real "difference" between the optimus one and the optimus v.
I have the optimus one, could
I flash a rom based on the optimus v?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
No. V and One roms won't work with the other, but T and One roms can be used with the other. Don't know about new models like S or C.

I have the P500h, which is the koodo (subsidiary of telus) version of the phone. Some of the hardware is different, the camera, for instance is 3.2 megapixels rather than 3.0 megapixels. I don't think anything else is much different except for the red stripe around the phone instead of silver.
So I was wondering if it was the same kinda deal with the difference between the v and the optimus one.

[Q] Is a One X ROM applicable ?

Hi,
as hardware are really similar, you guys think it is allowed to install a HTC One X rom on the XS ?
Cheers
Not similar at all so no.

LOLing at the OP.
The OneX is a QUAD CORE and the XS is a dual core just for starters. All the hardware is completely different. Had a few joints before you came on XDA did you?
And what !
PC have many different hardware configs, but all can run i.e. Windows

Yes, but it seems it is not maintained anymore
Anyway, thanks for your answer.
i am going to try to port an htc sense rom (4.0) to the P
an port to the s would be possible after that
Good news, keep us informed

Roms on US S3

How possible is it or if ever possible will the Roms being created for the international S3, ever become compatible on the US S3, because there is a huge lack thereof ROMs, which I know it hasn't been forever since the phone has been out but if you look at the amount of ROMs and tweaks and mods, it seems as though its rather empty compared, plus I've seen some bad bad bada$$ roms so far for the internation version. Just wondering
Not likely, maybe someone will port one or something but as things are now intl roms will not work on a us phone.

Doubt if you will get a guy in India or China oe Europe even with a USA phone or even the inclination to build a rom .
jje
Dang lost cause. It would have been really sweet. I can only imagine the work it would take to port something like that. Thanks fellas

Is this phone worth buying?

Sorry if this has already been posted or is in the wrong section i am new to the forums.
Okay i recently got into rooting and putting custom roms on my phone right now i have an HTC evo 4g.
But i am eligable for an upgrade with sprint i have been waiting for a while because i knew there would be an amazing phone to be released soon enough and i am starting to think the SIII.
Is this phone worth it? I would only be paying 250$ for the 32gb and 199$ for the 16gb with my upgrade.
is there any other phones that are up there with the galaxy s3 on sprints network? Or should i just go and get this phone.
is it alot faster then the s2? also will i be able to put jellybean on it if i was to get it? is there a stable release out.
Yes. Go get this phone.
Is the best currently available.

Buy the phone if you want it. It's a great phone but it may not suit your needs. Check it the specs and compare it with other phones you can choose from .
Your s3 model won't be the international version, it will be the dial core version so check their forum to see their development.

Yes
He meant dual core version. You aren't really losing much. Both versions are top of the end amazing phones.

The dual core GS3 has documented and developer-friendly Qualcomm = definitely worth buying.
S3 is easily the best phone I have ever owned (and I have owned a great many top-spec phones).
That said I preferred the S2 in terms of size and weight. But the S3 has a higher quality screen and considerably better battery life
Oooh i see now the I9300 is the quad core version which is not in the US
The US version is dual core.
Okay how big is the difference in speed between the two?

Should be similar on stock touchwiz. The dual core one is lightyears ahead of the Exynos one, though, when it comes to custom AOSP roms. Why? Well, just ask @codeworkz ^^

Thank you very much.
Just wanted to add my opinion to this one as I'm sick of all the exnos bashing.
Just because cm devs can't get it to work properly does not mean it's bad. It's the best version and I've never ever used a ti Omap or Qualcomm based phone that wasn't **** and dont get me started on cm roms on phones as from desire onwards I've never encountered a cm version worth installing as they aren't worth it. Stock android has always been and always will be lacking and ugly no matter how many cookie cutter mods you implement like volume button wake which is old old old.
Do yourself a favour and stick to Samsung based roms and save the headache and the laughs from people who see your stock android device and the pictures that come off the aosp camera among other things.
The SG III is way better value than the iphone 5.
If you want something "worth buying", you are the only one who can actually decide on this.. because it may/may not suit you. So i suggest you search and gather info for yourself so you get accurate infos
I do not mean to flame or anything, just a mini-suggestion. Hopefully this will help you in your decision

I am surprised that no one said that you should wait for the Note 2 or the new Nexus or the next Galaxy S x, where x>3. There will always be better, but when you actually start using the phone you see that you don't need anything more, except less call log lag
It is that great that I don't even have the urge to root it right now and I rooted and reflashed everything android I had before.

There is one from 2012. It's based on cm10 but it has many bugs! :|
Sent from my One X+ using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
There are porting guides out there that you can try and port it to your HOX+ . If you have the international version, you can base it off of your cm10 . Unfortunately for the ATT users (like me), we dont have a working cm10 to base ours from. I tried porting it using a sense base and I only got to bootanimation.
The problem with the HOX+ is that, despite being a great phone, it has a very small community and, at least on the inter-side, almost all developers have moved on to different phones.
One of the biggest HOX+ inter rom/kernel developers just broke his HOX+ too, as far as I can see all active non-Sense rom developers depended on him to some degree.
With, AFAIK, the last kernel developer/maintainer gone, even existing roms will start having a hard time staying up to date, as no-one will be able to fix kernel bugs or implement new kernel features that roms may require upstream.
I'm afraid that if you want something new for the HOX+, you'll have to make it yourself, there's no-one left to do it for you anymore, unfortunately.

I don't know who you're talking about. But if that developer is Lloir then believe me it wouldn't matter. Cause people asked him ages ago if he can make a MIUI ROM.. He said it's not open-source enough. And he also said he just can't stand MIUI.
I do agree with the small community thing though, I wish I bought a One X instead of the One X+
And I'm planning on buying an HTC M8 but I'm afraid it will have a small community so less ROMs and developers :|

I was indeed talking about Lloir. Indeed, Lloir won't have been the one to make Miui in any case, but he was the last remaining active kernel maintainer, something pretty much any other rom developer is depending on.
Plus, most rom developers for the HOX+ learned how to develop roms for the HOX+ from him in the first place.
While Lloir won't be making Miui, I think that, as long as no new kernel developer/maintainer will stand up, the HOX+ dev community will rapidly dry up completely, unfortunately.
That said however, we've been very lucky to have had these few talented developers in the first place (and still have a few), I've always been impressed at what the HOX+ community could do, despite it's size.
True that (Y) I don't know why but I'm not being able to quote you or press the thanks button o.o
