I bought a Dell Streak 5 in this week. When I connected it to a charger it charges 100% within 30 minutes. After the few minutes the battery lows normally 80% , 75% , 60% then it immediately drops to 1% and shows battery low. But I can work about 30 mins after it drops to 1%. But this is a very big problem. Please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Is that a Battery Issue / Software Issue or a Hardware Issue???????? help me

Get a new battery

Do you have warranty? Sent it back.... but I am wondering if you actually bought/swap a secondhand DS5 a.k.a. not a brand new unused phone +battery. If they've been used, probably the battery has deteriorated, thus you need a replacement battery... thus buy or order new battery online from Mugen, ebay or amazon.com. Good luck.

Would suggest not buying batteries off eBay
stick with the reputable sources such as Seidio or OEM stuff.
You bought the battery from China.
There have been multiple cases reported about lower capacity batteries shipped out of there with a fake battery sticker slapped on to look legit.
It's best to go OEM with batteries.
Unless someone has a great rep, it's basically buyer beware...

You need to reset your battery stats after a full charge.

Well every time you switch even from factory batteries to even anything else (even same OEM from your friends phone) battery you need to wipe stats. This will keep all batteries working great. And muuuuuch more accurate.
My DX2 suddenly sucks for battery life. This morning I took it off ther charger at 100% and used it for 20 minutes looking at twitter. I got the 15% remaining message and 2 minutes later I get the 5% message and it immediately shuts down. I go to plug it in and the larger battery graphic comes up (the one it shows when you are charging it while it's off). And it says 80%. So I unplug it and turn it back on. Once it went through it's boot up and aquired signal and all that, my battery widget shows 50%. I plugged the charger back in and in about 10 minutes, it said 60%.
A couple days ago, I left the house with 90% and turned on GPS and navigation. I got 8 miles from my house and it shut down due to dead battery.
Is the battery going bad or is the phone going bad that it can't read the battery?
Whenever I check the battery usage, it either shows DISPLAY or IDLE as the number one battery user.
What are you running for a ROM?

Sounds like a battery issue or defect in the phone somewhere. Or, it could be a very old custom rom but you haven't answered that yet so not sure.

No ROM. Bone stock
Sounds like a dead battery to me. If you know anyone with another X2 or a Droid X (same exact battery) try swapping. If you continue to face the issue it is a defective phone. It someone else's battery seems fine it's a defective battery.

SO the original battery is about 1.5 years old. My phone started dying at strange times and refusing to power on, or dropping from 80% to 10% if it powered on again.
Right now there seems to be a charge in the battery but I can't get the phone to power on at all.
The spare battery seems to work so it is some battery issue, but is it dead or can I revive it or another 6 months?
Everything you've said points to a battery on the way out, and the length of time you've had it does as well. Constantly discharging/charging a battery for 18 mths, gradually reduces the life/reliability of the battery.
Buy a new one/use your spare.
So I managed to get it working again. I tricked it by connecting a extra small battery at the same time. After powering on and disconnecting it three phone seemed to recognize the that there was a battery again 2% charged. I charged the battery with phone off. When I powered in the phone said 12% and I charged it again powered on. It's been holding up for 2 hours of use at 86%. I guess I will just have tip wait and see.

Could be battery calibration problems... Try to calibrate it. And a lithium ion battery life is expected to be 1-2 years.

I was in England last week and I noticed on the last 2 days my battery not only drained itself much faster than usual, but it also recharged slower. When I got back home, I noticed if my phone was plugged in, and I used it, it still lost battery! I use the original charger, one thing I noticed after my trip though, was the two "blades" we plug in were closer to each other (they weren't parallel anymore) I kind of pushed them back to place but anyone can see the blades are slightly moved
Please help me auick this is very important!
EDIT : Usually I recharge my phone from 23h to 6h45,but today I noticed it only recharged when the phone is Off, and very slowly, it only made it to 51% merely adding the sentence cost 2% of battery while docked..

Probably the battery itself is dying?
S3 should be filly charged within 3,4 hours in most.
Or you may need to recalibrate your battery?
I have been into some situation like this:
1. 10% charging, after one time reboot it goes up to 50%, just in minute.
2. Battery from 95% drops to 50% with rate of 2% - 3% per minute.
What I do: drain battery to 0% and start fully charged it into 100% and then it seems to be fine through...

Good Evening
I have a problem with the battery indicator. While I charge 100% just to get it out of the stream begins to bounce up and down from 100% to fall to 1% then goes to 35% and generally unstable indicator.
I have 2 batteries, one original and a Chinese and I do at 2 in the same problem. The phone is root and I rom 2.3.3 DSC v2.3.
I've done what I mentioned in another post but not corrected
1. boot into recovery and clear battery stats
2. download battery calibration app from play store and calibrate your battery.
3. charge your phone completely and let is discharge completely(0%BATTERY) do this cycle at least 2-3 times
your battery might do well

The time, however, keeps the battery is over 24 hours and let the indicator on the 1%
thx
All you need is the first step... not the app
