[Q] 200mb free but "insufficient storage" for a 12mb app. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm running rooted XWLSS (4.1.2). I keep getting "Insufficient Storage" errors when trying to install apps from the Play Store which I really should have enough space for. E.g the recent Maps update was about 6mb if memory serves and I had over 200mb free but I kept getting the above error.
Any idea what's causing it? Do some apps have a minimum space requirement or something?
Thanks in advance.

I do have the same problem. In my case its 500MB+ free and I'm on PA 3.99. Solutions please???

Mostly updates its happening although I think it has happened for new apps too.

Have a look in /system/app and see if there is a rogue .odex file kicking around. Sometimes if you install an apk yourself, this is the solution. Not sure if it will work with Google Play installs, but its worth a bash.

The N8000 of my girlfriend was trying to update google+ automatically and this problem happened, what I did? I uninstalled and installed google+ and then stopped the problem. The problem occurred only in this app.

"Installation unsuccessful" makes me think it downloaded just fine over your wifi, otherwise it would say "download unsuccessful". What app(s) are failing to install?
How long have you had the problem?
1. Try removing external SD card and installing. May be a conflict. Also try unmounting and remounting external SD card. (Removal/replacement will do same).
2. Clear data and cache in marketplace app then reboot.
3. Do you have a lot of apps/music/videos already installed? Could be there isn't enough storage. Installation process needs space to work. You might have a 20MB app, but need 100MB free to actually install it.
4. Could also be the marketplace itself is having a bad day. It happens.

[Q] can´t install and update apps

Hello i´m from germany so my english isn´t so good and i hope you understand my problem. Since a few days i can´t update apps because i become a error report which says no more space but i have 2 GB internal memory free?. 2 or 3 days later i can´t install new apps too. I have the stock rom 4.2.2 with root, TWRP and Hacker Kernel. I hope you can help me.. I also tried to install a custom rom but i don´t find a rom that is better then stock and at custom rom my wifi can´t be enabled.
Help...
Nobody have an idea?
Google Play is only supposed to prevent you from downloading apps when you have 200MB of internal storage or fewer. However, I've seen this same problem at other random numbers like 400MB. Unfortunately, I've never seen the problem as high as 1.4 GB.
Although you aren't supposed to have this problem, you can definitely try freeing up space and seeing if the problem persists. If you have 3GB of free internal space and you still cannot download apps, there is a problem with Play. If the problem goes away, I would recommend buying an SD card where you can keep most of your data, and you will still be able to update your apps.

In your screenshot, it looks like 4.7GB is being taken up by media. If that is your internal SD, try moving the media to your 64GB SD. See if updates work then.

The only way to solve the problem you are having would be to isolate it. If you clear up some memory and apps start updating, you know that your phone has a limit of 2GB. In that case, always keep over 2GB free and try to move more data to SD. (I still don't understand how Whatsapp takes so much memory) If apps don't update after you clear the space, you know that Google Play isn't working the way its supposed to, and should probably contact support on their end.
Sorry I wasn't of too much help for you. Good luck!

help help

hi there, i using a samsung I9300,
just somethin on my phone is keep frustrating me.
I am installing asphalt 8 to my phone, but it keep prompting me that my phone memory is not enough. But i still have 5.4gb of memory at my phone?
I have search guides on how to solve this.but unfortunately did not help I have also installed clean master that does not help.
anyone got any idea???
My phone is rooted, with directory bind installed also.
That 5.4GB is your storage, not the space that's available for apps.
Go to settings-->Applications and see at the bottom how much space you got left for apps.

[Q] Not enough space

Hello,
I have a problem with my great mega, every time i need to update a program it says that there is not enough space left.
So i checked and there is about 600 mb left on my phone and 8,5 gb on my sd so that shouldn't be a problem.
Why is this and does anyone have a solution, thanx in advance.
Use es file Explorer to move media files like pics, videos, music, and downloads to your sd. I would leave app files where they are.

If your phone is rooted install Lucky Patcher 4.1.9 (newest version) and make sure it is updated after it is installed and whatever app has this insufficient storage not available open the program in lucky patcher add or remove a patch or uninstall a app with lucky patcher and re-install it, just tap on the name of the app in lucky patcher and you will see many options to do with that app..works pretty good as i use this for this problem.

no i do not have any backups and the nadroid is on my sd allready.
I do not have a clue what is taking up my space while in storage it says that there is room enough.
Nevermind. Not sure why it is doing that.
