[Q] Cyanogenmod 10.2 Whatsapp / standby bug - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I updated my Cyanogenmod version to the night lies to improve the screen flicker issue and it has been really stable until the other day. As of about 1 week ago I have had random crashes. It seems to be related to whatsapp and certainly when I try and come out of standby. Today I noticed that it just crashed when receiving a phone call. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling whatsapp and I've wiped dalvik cache a few times. Do I need to do a factory wipe and start a fresh ?
Cheers

Seems like it might be working now

After the phone kept crashing I decided to go ahead with a wipe factory reset and it seems to have improved. Still slightly nervous coming out of standby but I'll see.

Friend, I am also having the same problem, whenever I enter the Whatsapp or do anything linked to it catches everything and have to restart the phone. Managed to solve your problem?

Seems to be fixed

After wipe data/factory reset, clearing dalvik cache and wiping cache then re-installing the ROM and GApps I rebooted and it went a bit weird but has since seemed to have been fixed. I had previously installed Greenify app which also I don't think helped. So I would suggest doing a complete re-install.

[Q] Text Messaging Glitch/Random Rebooting - Infuseth3ory v1.0B

Hi,
I recently flashed Infusedth3ory from Gingerth3ory 5.0 today. I did a full wipe and everything. I've noticed that when I go to send a text message, the messaging box starts to flicker every 2-3 seconds, maybe a bit longer. I cleared the messaging data from settings/applications, but that yielded nothing. A bit later my phone started randomly rebooting. This hasn't happened before on Gingerth3ory so I might recover that backup. I'm running the recommended .627 radio. Any help would be appreciated
Did you clear delete all user data / wipe davik and regular cache's and format system data before flashing?
I'm running this rom with no issues.

Yup I made sure to do all of that. At this point the rebooting is getting to me but ill just wait for a major update to the rom :/

all apps started to force close

im on stock dxlp7 via kies. last time it was working was when i switch on the wifi and got stuck (known issue). because i can't wait, i rebooted it by holding the power button and use feature there.
during boot-up, i saw the upgrading OS as if it was a new upgrade to 4.0.3. then there all apps started to force close. only few apps work and mostly are those that come preinstalled.
im doing backup as of this writing and saw one thread that wiping the cache fixes it. i hope wiping the cache really fixes this. created thread because the other was was on 2.3.x. this one is on ICS.
what went wrong with my phone? is this a known issue? i can't find that much info on this.
Do a factory reset.
i first tried to wipe the cache. didn't work.
i did factory reset so far its working fine. no other apps yet except preinstalled.
what went wrong there?
Honestly, that's really hard to say. Something has obviously corrupted some system apps/files by the sound of what you're describing.
Important thing is you seem to have fixed it. See how you go as you start reinstalling your apps.

so far nothing weird happening. installing the apps is ok. configuring one by one sucks.

WiFi not enabling, need assistance

So I flashed SlimBean 2.2 not too long ago, restored my apps and settings via Titanium Backup, and everything was working smoothly... until last night when I rebooted the phone and the WiFi would not turn on. It was working flawlessly before, but now when I got to settings and try and enable it, it says "turning on..." and then never does. Data, bluetooth, and everything else seems to be working just fine, but the WiFi refuses to start up and scan any local networks. I cleared my Dalvik and my cache, yet to no avail. Any type of assistance would be appreciated. I would hate to have to change ROMs, since this one was working so well before this incident.

You could try flashing the ROM back over top of itself after wiping cache and dalvik.

I am just stabbing in the dark here but maybe try clearing data for settings app.

Tried that and, yet again, no luck. I honestly can't think of a single reason why my WiFi shouldn't be starting up like normal, especially since it was working normally before that reboot. Any other Slimbean users out there have/had any similar problems with their WiFi not starting?
Well, I just did a clean sweep of my phone (wiped system, data, as well as cache and dalvik) and re-flashed the Slimbean rom and the WiFi is working again! Although, I'm worried this incident might come up again. I'll be sure to update this post if anything occurs. Thanks everyone.

[Q] "Systemui has stopped" - Carbon rom

I just rooted my HOX+ and installed CWM and flashed 23/06 Carbon nightly on it. For a couple of days everything was fine
until today when it said "Unfortunately.. blah blah.. systemui has stopped working". Every time I boot up the phone it gives me
this message and I can't do anything. Rebooting doesn't help, I tried wiping everything and reflashing, still nothing. I did some
research and found a thread about face unlock might causing this. I disabled the face unlock but didn't work. I don't know if it's
caused by some google app cuz when I reflashed everything, including gapps, first there was no problem, but I think when it was
installing google search the error message came again. Have anyone else experienced this error? Any solutions?

Same here. It started yesterday. Tried to flash older and newer ones with full wipe including cache and dalvik cache, but it still does not help.
I flashed a sense rom (ARHD) and wiped nearly everything on the phone before I installed the new rom. I did multiple factory resets, multiple dalvik wipes, multiple cache wipes and I formatted the whole system a few times (=format system). Afterwards I flashed ARHD and my phone works brilliant now. Try this I hope it works on your devices!
I made a fresh install of Carbon on my HOX+ last week (CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20140802-1713-enrc2b, fwiw), and it worked just fine up until last night when I encountered this exact problem. The official enrc2b Carbon thread contains a post that would seem to indicate that the problem is with Google Plus (though there isn't much in the way of evidence).
In any case, completely wiping and re-installing the phone appears to be a solution, but I would submit that it's temporary - if the problem is some sort of incompatibility with one or more Google Apps, then the issue will simply return at some point.
Hopefully the root cause will be determined and a fix will be forthcoming. Until then, I suspect we're all just sitting on time-bombs.
i think the problem comes really from the google+ app.
i did a clean install after the crash with the small pa gapps, wich didn't contains the google+ app.
Then i reinstall al my apps one by one except g+ and now everything works perfect again.
It's a little bit more work, but the only way i know to fix..
Hope it helps
I had the same problem with Carbon. I've installed Carbon a view days ago (comming from Mokee) and after the latest G+ Update my SystemUI stopped. A dirty flash didn't solve the problem.
So I restored my Mokee Backup and here everythink is great (with the latest G+ update)

Need urgent help

My wife's mido gone bootloop after just sleeping last night It is on the latest aex 5.8 january 2019 build. Tried wiping cache, dalvik and system then flashed the same rom. Is there a way to backup sms, contact and app data of two applications, google keep and moneymanager? We happen to turned off sync and havent backed it up online via sync. Is there a way for this things can be done? Or maybe resurrect the phone from bootloop?
Do not wipe anything, dude!

Most of the times, bootloop occurs when something unintended or wrong takes place with the /system partition of your device. Just flash the ROM that you were on again and wipe all caches to prevent frequent force closes. Then boot up the phone normally and back things up. Your phone should be fine now.
