My wife's mido gone bootloop after just sleeping last night It is on the latest aex 5.8 january 2019 build. Tried wiping cache, dalvik and system then flashed the same rom. Is there a way to backup sms, contact and app data of two applications, google keep and moneymanager? We happen to turned off sync and havent backed it up online via sync. Is there a way for this things can be done? Or maybe resurrect the phone from bootloop?

Do not wipe anything, dude!

Most of the times, bootloop occurs when something unintended or wrong takes place with the /system partition of your device. Just flash the ROM that you were on again and wipe all caches to prevent frequent force closes. Then boot up the phone normally and back things up. Your phone should be fine now.

[Q] Text Messaging Glitch/Random Rebooting - Infuseth3ory v1.0B

Hi,
I recently flashed Infusedth3ory from Gingerth3ory 5.0 today. I did a full wipe and everything. I've noticed that when I go to send a text message, the messaging box starts to flicker every 2-3 seconds, maybe a bit longer. I cleared the messaging data from settings/applications, but that yielded nothing. A bit later my phone started randomly rebooting. This hasn't happened before on Gingerth3ory so I might recover that backup. I'm running the recommended .627 radio. Any help would be appreciated
Did you clear delete all user data / wipe davik and regular cache's and format system data before flashing?
I'm running this rom with no issues.

Proxmity sensor on P500

I have asked a few times on the forum if this could be related to the baseband of my device. Basically what happens is in call, he proximity sensor seems to cause the touchscreen to go haywire. I receive what amounts to phantom button presses. Basically voiding the functionality of the proximity sensor to begin with, the calls get put on hold, muted, dropped or whatever. A new symptom has now appeared, the dreaded black screen bug. When a call gets dropped, screen goes black and nothing but a battery pull solves this. Contacts are suddenly missing and I need to resync to get them back
I have tried many different roms, every single kernel. The only solution I personally can think of, is disabling the proximity sensor altogether. Can anyone tell me which line in the build.prop would disable this?
Its my everyday phone, so this is rather urgent, any help would be appreciated
You need to add either of these 2 lines (not sure which, or if it matters):
gsm.proximity.enable=false
gsm.proximity.enable=0
Oh, and apparently MIUI ROMs have that option in the settings.
I can spend 20 min to try solving this or just give you a clue
Try this:
-install ROM Manager and install the custom recovery for your phone if you already haven't got one
-go into recovery, wipe dalvik cache and cache, and most importantly WIPE DATA...
Now flash the custom rom and wait for it to boot...
Wiping data should delete everything from the old rom, so incompatible data when sw roms will be erased...
Backup your sd apps, contacts trough google servers - do not forget...

[Q] P7510 (p4wifi) tab freezing all the time

Hi all,
Lately my tab is freezing at random moments. When opening gmail, youtube, browsing, settings, .. I can't use it longer than 5min or it will crash.
I'm running CM 10.1 nightly 20130118, Kernel 3.1.10-cyanogenmod (never upgraded this).
I have also tried older CM versions (CM 10, older CM10.1's, CM9) and AOKP -> same problem.
When I install a new rom I always wipe cache partition, wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache first.
I'm running CMW Recovery v6.0.2.7. Today I also installed a new bootloader (US_LPL_4.0.4_bootloader) but still the same issue.
Any ideas? Is it possible to do a harder reset than I already do? Should I maybe install a kernel update?
Thanks!
either you are overclocking and not stable, keep installing back the same bad app which is wreaking havoc, restoring from an old TB backup which is not playing nice on current stuff, installing some hack/mod which is wreaking havoc, or you have a hardware issue.
odin back to stock ics (this will completly wipe the whole tab out) and observe for a few days.

Never overclocked so I'm afraid it's a HW issue.
Just installed stock ics and it still freezes after a few minutes (without installing any apps).
Guess I'm gonna try to put everything default again (I still have those 0/0/0 folders from JB) and return it to the shop..

Jeps... Sounds like a hw issue if it is still causing the crashes on stock, how long do you use your tab now? maybe it has nothing to do with time, but just want to know..

I have it for about 9 months now but never really used it alot. I think in total maybe 40-50hours (watching movies on holidays etc).
I did leave it on the table once while the sun was shining through the window so that might have overheated the tab a bit.. Not sure if the issues started right after that. I could still watch a movie on it etc, now it crashes after 5min max.

I have the same setup as you and my tablet starts to crash this week. Gmail won't stay for 2 mins
Try this!
You need to wipe it clean and make sure your 16G is not getting full. You can use any file manager ap to start your clean up, which is all you need if the hardware is not damaged. Ok, so go to root and remove any excess file you might have, this will eliminate memory issues. Next, reboot into recovery, hope you are rooted, then wipe everything including delvic. Install your ROM [INFAMOUS_2.2], the best I have tested, and reboot your system. If you can't do this you need to reinstall CWM, I use 5.5.1.7, and then reflash your rom. If this doesn't get you back in the clouds contact me.

[Q] CM 10.1.3 RC install did not wirk

Hi,
My i9100 runs CM 10.2 Nightlies and I install these in this sequence:
Reboot recovery'
Format /system
Wipe Dalvik
Wipe /cache
Install new CM nightly .zip
This works every-time, except if I try and install the CM 10.1.3 Release Candidate. In this case my phone boots and displays the CM rotating boot animation until the battery runs out of juice. If I boot into recovery and flash CM 10.2 then my phone boots correctly.
Does anyone know how one should downgrade from 10.2 to 10.1.3?
( If you suggest a factory reset ( format /data) then please explain your logical behind your suggestion, if you could).
Thanks!

:good:
Yes I do suggest a factory reset. It's recommended whenever you change android version to do a factory reset. Flashing a new nightly of the same android version it's ok not to (I still do) but when you upgrade /downgrade android versions unless you reset you'll get trouble, as you've already found out.
Edit: just read those links that immortalneo posted, there you go.

Hi, Thank-you for your links.
Funnily if I upgrade on Android versions I don't reset. I just format /system, wipe cache & Dalvik, and then install the right gapps. I have never downgraded before.
However, perhaps I could roll back to a 10.1 nightly backup I took with CWM, and then upgrade with this and avoid a Factory Reset

I don't understand why you're shying away from a factory reset? If you're flashing ROMs it should be a regular part of your routine. Use an app such as Titanium backup to restore user apps & data afterwards. Doing a factory reset will erase everything which isn't compatible with the new ROM. Titanium, used correctly, only restores things which are compatible.
As for restoring your nandroid, if it's a downgrade, you should also factory reset before restoring it. Like I said, I don't know why you're trying so hard to avoid it.

Hi,
Because restoring from TB all my apps took me 5 hours last time.
More importantly I have to add back all of my accounts (FB, Dropbox etc) and k don't always recall my passwords, so they all have yo have password resets. Factory resets mean several days of extra work. I have 1.5 hours each evening to myself and I'd rather watch TV (18 month old child is source of time consumption)) ).
Cheers.

:0 :0 how many apps do you have installed? It takes me about 10 min absolute tops. But sure, definitely spend time with your child

I have 51 apps and a few like Touchdown (for Lotus Notes) won't play well with downgrades or even upgrades sometimes. This is the bane of 'enterprise' applications...

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10.2 Whatsapp / standby bug

I updated my Cyanogenmod version to the night lies to improve the screen flicker issue and it has been really stable until the other day. As of about 1 week ago I have had random crashes. It seems to be related to whatsapp and certainly when I try and come out of standby. Today I noticed that it just crashed when receiving a phone call. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling whatsapp and I've wiped dalvik cache a few times. Do I need to do a factory wipe and start a fresh ?
Cheers

Seems like it might be working now

After the phone kept crashing I decided to go ahead with a wipe factory reset and it seems to have improved. Still slightly nervous coming out of standby but I'll see.

Friend, I am also having the same problem, whenever I enter the Whatsapp or do anything linked to it catches everything and have to restart the phone. Managed to solve your problem?
Seems to be fixed

After wipe data/factory reset, clearing dalvik cache and wiping cache then re-installing the ROM and GApps I rebooted and it went a bit weird but has since seemed to have been fixed. I had previously installed Greenify app which also I don't think helped. So I would suggest doing a complete re-install.
Cheers
